Bluetooth does not pick up after turning flight mode off - MDA II, XDA II, 2060 ROM Development

When you turn flight mode on and then later turn it back off, the bluetooth functionality doesn't appear to work. Its turned on, but when a call comes through it doesn't pick up. Does anyone else have thise problem with the XDA2? Is it yet another 'feature'?

Exactly the same on the MDA2.
BT is ON, but the BT headset mode remains disabled, so each time you switch off the flight mode, you have to turn on the headset mode. Really stupid IMHO.

I don't think this is a "problem" or a bug.
Turning on flight mode means there should not be any Radio activity. Therefore BT Radio will be turned off as well. It makes sense.
It remembers your last BT Radio selection though. So, when the flight mode is off, BT Radio mode will resume like it was before flight mode, that is either OFF, ON or DISCOERABLE. The only thing that it doesn't remember is which profile was enabled. So you'll have to enable it when flight mode is off.

This is exactly what we were talking about...or at least is what I was TRYING to explain...IMHO is very stupid that it does not remember the profile that was enables, this means that every time we have to turn on the profile again...

Is it that when Flight Mode(phone) is switched ON, the bluetooth won't work.

well i would suppose so since places like in planes and on some hospitals where they fear interfearence from wireless devices like cellphones they see bluetooth the same way
i suppose that it should turn wifi off aswell
but what they are talking about is that when you turn flight mode back on the bluetooth stack dont recall some of it's settings

Cheers for the reply, forgive me if this sounds stupid but to re-enable the bluetooth profile after switching flight mode back off, do you use Ultra Profile or is it done some other way?

Wifi Automatically turns on

This will be a question and answer post.
My wifi automatically turned on while making a call, it was driving me insane. There is another thread for the Tilt 2 on this, but it never answered the question. It is also more relevant here.
The answer to solve this, by turning off Wireless-N mode or enabling automatic data disconnect.
I recently changed settings in touch tools; a lot of them. I noticed shortly after that by wifi kept on enabling itself automatically whenever I made a call. It drove me crazy, because I had to switch it off. It also wasn't good for my battery life.
I wish I could be more of a help, but at least you know where to start. I'll try and post back as soon as I am less busy.
settings wireless control, and switch off wifi?
There is a cab or maybe just a hack somewhere on the forum that auto switches it off or run on 2g only maybe?

Thank you for your response.
My problem was that whenever I made a phone call the wifi would automatically activate. So imagine having to turn wifi off after each phone call. (I make a lot of calls during the day. Not only that but it briefly interferes with my calls (people have told me they heard something) and drains the battery life a lot more especially if I use the speaker.
I have fixed the problem though just by turning wireless-n mode off. I had turned it on for faster webpages, but really on wifi I don't need it.

[Q] kernel possibility?

This is no way a request and for some reason i cant even figure out if it would be smart, but nonetheless...
would it be possible for a kernel to include the ability to automatically swith my phone to airplane mode when i went into an area that i get no service in and then like every "x" amount of mins, the kernel would force the phone out of airplane mode, check for service and, if none was found go back to airplane mode, and if service was found, leave the radio on. then if i was to leave a non-service area and enter a service area, instead of having to wait that "x" amount of mins to get service again, whenever i wake my phone, it instantly re-scans for services. so screen on would be the "highest priority".
quick question-would constantly going in and out of airplane mode actually use more battery than the phone would be potentially saving.
I think you could write a script in an application called Tasker that could do that. I have tasker set so that when I flip my phone end over end toward me it goes to full brightness, away from me to 20% brightness. It's a pretty powerful little app, I'd check it out.
One problem...if it goes into airplane mode...how can it detect if it is with no signal...you would have no signal to reference. You cannot leave radio on...that defeats airplane mode.

that's not what he said. he said every so often force it out or airplane mode and search for a signal and if no is found go back into airplane mode

do u by any chance know if theres an option add a toggle to a script in tasker to toggle airplane mode?
Re-read it, yep..my Bad.

[Q] Disabling Phone Option for Travel?

Is there any way to disable the phone radio of this phone, for when I travel internationally? The last time I traveled, in order to use wifi and bluetooth - the phone's antenna kept searching for a non-existant signal and killed my battery consistently.
Is there a setting I just don't see that allows me to use everything but the phone functions? Airplane mode wipes out everything.
Thanks.

*#*#4636#*#* then go to Phone Info, then choose turn off radio. Repeat and reboot to turn back on.

Thank you sir! That's exactly what I was looking for. It's odd that the solution's so convoluted, on previous phones I always had a switch in the settings.

or you could just put it in airplane mode and then turn wifi and bt back on individually

Does that work for you? Because if I try that on my phone, bluetooth stays disabled. Ironically - wifi can be turned on in airplane mode though.
I'm running stock, by the way.

That's odd, when I put mine in AM and then turn on WiFi it works perfectly.
edit: Turn on AM first then turn on WiFi. If you have WiFi on and then turn on AM it kills WiFi.

You didn't read my last post - that works, but not for bluetooth. AM kills bluetooth no matter what.

Doing airplane mode you get lesse battery drain. Usually i do that at my work. I work on a factory, so I put my phone and watch in airplane mode. I save some juice.
Has um not near the two of them... So that's OK for me when I go home. Turn everything normal again.
Thanks. I set auto Airplane for when I am asleep as I noticed that I was getting draining using DND.
