[NL] Upgrade T-Mobile MDA2 questions - MDA II, XDA II, 2060 ROM Development

Hello,
I have a simlocked MDA2 and the following software:
ROM version: 1.60.00WWE (12/03/03)
RADIO: 1.10.00
Protocol: 1337.18
ExtROM: 1.60.36
- What are the most important differences in the roms flying around?
- Can the radio stack (phone software) be upgraded independent of the ROM.
- I want to upgrade to the latest software possible. I read something about that i have to change my header to be able to upgrade. Now i don't have linux available. Can someone help me point in a direction where i can find a tutorial how to upgrade and a place where to get the latest versions of ROM's?
Thanx

Oops, i am allready downloading that "T-Mobile to O2 1.60.50 upgrade", but how do i avoid the country error?
Just use Er2003edit, it takes care for everything!!!
Here you can edit the header information with a drop down menu.
If you currently have a MDA2 simply change the header info in the three ROM-files from O2 to TMOBILE, then run the upgrade.
You cannot do something wrong, the upgrade tool will not start at all if not everything is right, and even then still the bootloader is available.
I haven't heared so far of a trashed XDA2 device

If you used the t_mobile to o2 ROM offered on one of the threads in this index forum you should not need the go around for the country error, because the Rom was put together custom to overide this issue and others.
How did it go?

Which rom did you mean? I downloaded the official O2 rom and the patcher which i found in a thread (Update O2 XDAII ROM from T-Mobile 1.60.36 to new O2 UK ROM). I am having some other problems now but when i find the sollution for that i am going to upgrade and will let you guys know.

Check this thread for upgrading roms:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=8205

The upgrade went without any problems, i now have an O2 XDA2 rom flashed on my sim-locked MDA2.

xces,
I'm unclear on how you did the upgrade. The tmobile_to o2 ROM 1.60.50 is a ROM upgrade in of itself, but you need a RAR file unzip/explorer app. to get to it. Sounds like you used the O2 right from their site.
So are you saying you did not run into the country id error issue at all?
Lastly, use the tool on this site to unlock your device. Many have done so.

Hello Gratefulled, I downloaded the O2 update from their site that is correct, then i unzipped to contents using winrar to a different folder, i used the tool from softworkz to change the provider in the header of the nfb files and then i flashed it. I did NOT run into any country ID errors this way.

Hi XCES,
How is that ROM behaving? Especialy for the turning on and off from the flight mode and bluetooth. I noticed that with ROM version:
1.60.00WWE (12/03/03)
RADIO: 1.10.00
Protocol: 1337.18
ExtROM: 1.60.36
the radio and bluetooth have some trouble to switch on/off quickly.
And as I'm a T-Mobile Dutch user as yourself: Is it still easy to set up your GPRS connection? I found the T-Mobile auto detect very handy in the T-Mobile ROM but I guess that that part is not present on the O2 Rom.
Please let me know.
Wouter

Hello Wouter, to be quite honest i don't like this rom. The today screen is totally useless for T-mobile users because it tries to connect with O2 internet. So i have decided to make my own rom, and i will list the contents here.
Ok, i did my own rom version. I downloaded both upgrades (from both T-mobile and O2) and launched 2 times er2003edit, on the left i had the T-mobile rom, and on the right i had the O2 rom. I compared versions, removed unneeded **** and now i have this list:
(remember to edit your "config.txt" !!!)
CAB: \Extended_ROM\CameraRC132_WWE_1.5.sa.CAB
CAB: \Extended_ROM\MIDI56.sa.CAB
CAB: \Extended_ROM\CallerIDRC11_WWE_1.5.sa.CAB
CAB: \Extended_ROM\GPRSMonitor_WWE.sa.CAB
CAB: \Extended_ROM\TMD_AP_NL.sa.CAB
CAB: \Extended_ROM\TMCOMREG.sa.CAB
CAB: \Extended_ROM\TMD_NL.sa.CAB
CAB: \Extended_ROM\Version_AKU1.sa.CAB
CAB: \Extended_ROM\OEM_AKU1_WWE_4AP.sa.CAB
CAB: \Extended_ROM\OEM_WWE_04021801.sa.CAB
CAB: \Extended_ROM\Broadcast_WWE.sa.CAB
CAB: \Extended_ROM\TM_phone_class10.CAB
EXEC:\Extended_ROM\TPEnable.exe
I took the blue items straight from the O2 rom because it contains a new bluetooth driver and sets the broadcast flag, new camera software and i removed the clearvue pdf ****. I have 8mb left and i am going to upgrade now.

WARNING: I couldn't go back to my original rom and it took me about 1,5 hours to get my device downgrading.
Be carefull when flashing roms.. It is now updating from 1.60.50 back to 1.60.36 (the original). I couldn't flash my home cooked rom it kept complaining about country id errors. I downloaded the file attached in another post to get my device upgrading.
Here is what i did (it worked for me):
- Download the official T-Mobile rom upgrade [1]
- Download the attachment from this post
- Extract the files from [1] to a directory
- Extract the files in the attachment to thesame directory saying YES to overwrite.
- Run the file "convert_to_o2.bat" in that directory. (Don't pay attention to the name it works!)
- Start HimaUpgradeUt.exe and click start
- It starts updating But immediately fails updating saying that you have country id error
- This is good, you got thesame screen as i did and probably you are scared you fooked up your mda2 like i was.
- Remove your mda2 from the cradle it will say "serial" on the screen.
- Put it back in the cradle it will now say "usb".
- Re-run the HimaUpgradeUt.exe and now you it will start upgrading. It will say you it is going to upgrade from blank blank blank (for some reason it can't read your rom anymore) to 1.60.36.
WTF .... WAIT A MINUTE!!! WHILE TYPING THIS I THINK I FIND THE PERFECT SOLLUTION FOR UPGRADING AND FLASHING YOUR ROM WITHOUT COUNTRY ID ERRORS OR STRANGE HACKS!!!
All you have to do is put your MDA2 into bootloader mode...
Can someone verify this for me???

Hi XCES,
(talking in Dutch would be easier but not of realy use for the others here...) Before I'm going to do this I'll wait for your experiences regarding the Bluetooth and turning flightmode on and off. That part realy bothers me with the 1.10.00 Radio (and the versions before...). So what radio version do you have now?
I already use a very lean config.txt with Caller ID, Clearvue and some other stuff removed so your ROM can fit me fine.
Let me know about your findings.
Wouter

Hello Wouter, radio version will not change at all. Stays at 1.10.
p.s. the upgrade went without any problems I now have the original T-mobile rom, without T-mobile customizations (original WM2003 theme etc) and with the newer bluetooth drivers i got from the O2 update. I think i am going to try to upgrade my MDA2 again later today if the Qtek upgrade has any newer software.

Hi XCES,
Do you think that the QTek will have an advantage over the O2 rom?
But how is your bluetooth working? (you only tried it one day so probably fine.. )
Wouter

Dunnow, but all i will take are the new drivers, bluetooth works perfect, tried it today a few times in the car with my HBH-65 bluetooth headset. Works like a charm!

Upgrading Extended ROM with ER2003edit

Hi there,
I know, there is also a special thread regarding this issue, but my question is more general:
I want to upgrade the (write protected) Ext ROM of my XDA. As I do not have an upgrade tool from o2, I've downloaded the latest upgrade from T-Mobile Germany and followed Softworkz's instructions and made my own Extended ROM.
But now I am not sure, if it will be possible to flash my XDAII with the MDAII flash utility (will be flashing the ExtRom with o2 Files only). Do I need the original o2-Sofware to flash or can I take any HTCHimalaya-Software to flash my device?
Thanks for comments...
Bobopopo
Hi Bobopopo!
As stated here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=6289 it's quite easy. You'll find a step-by-step How-To (in GERMAN!) here:
http://www.smartphone4u.de/xda2/tipps_tricks/extended_rom.html
And it works like a breeze! The only thing is that I don't know, whether your O2 xdaII will accept the T-Mobile ROM - but I don't see any reason why it shouldn't.
Only issue could be the Radio Stack Upgrade, but I have no problems at all with the T-Mobile Radio Stack in the O2 network.
Also I don't know of a way to backup your original ROM of the xda II - but maybe theres still the bootmanager way to back it up to an SD-Card!
GrĂ¼sse,
Klaas.
Finally flashed the ROM of my German XDAII with a German T-Mobile ROM (1.60). Has been no problem at all and I am impressed how easy it was (using ER2003edit). The only thing I have to work on is the homezone control, it is not working yet but not so important anyway.
I cooked my own ExtROM, but I think it will need some more improvement.
1. Is there any tool that further compresses the Extended ROM? (My ExtROM ist full but I would love to put some more programs inside)
2. My target is, that the XDAII will need about 5 minutes after a hard reset to install all the required software and get back the old settings. Will a backup with ActiveSync also remeber the favorits, connection settings, program settings aso.?
3. Is it possible to flash with the speed of USB 2.0? Until yet I have only tried with USB 1.1. (because I use a PCMCIA-card to provide USB 2.0 and the flashing manual says not to use an USB hub).
Thanks for some more tipps & tricks...
Bobopopo
@bobopopo and @admiral_k
Hey, I see your are also O2 customers in germany and also have the
homezone feature of O2.
When you did the upgrade, you also upgraded the radio stack...
I think the homezone feature is linked to radio-stack, so Homezone-Control will not work with t-mobile radio-stack.
I see two options... leaving out the radio-stack upgrade or forget the homezone-control.
Could you please write your impressions if it's worth upgrading the radio-stack. Actually if have the homezone-control disable most of the time so I would not really care, but it's nice to know that i can check if I am in my homezone... ( really interessing if you surf the web via local dial-in numbers... )
regards
Alex
Until now I did not see any improvements on the Firmware of the XDAII, but the T-Mobile ROM is working fine...
Regarding the Homezone control, I am pretty sure that this has nothing to do with the radio stack (Reason: After upgrading the whole firmware, the Homezone has been indicated (after a softreset) and disappeared after the next softreset.
So I think the Homezone control is dependent on the Ext. ROM (that I cooked myself by taking some of the new T-Mobile Ext. ROM and some of the old o2 Ext. ROM). Maybe I just didn't find the right mix.
I'll post a solution as soon as I find one...
Hi guys!
I am in a simular situation, I hava MDA II with T-Mobile OS and a German O2 subscription.
I would like to add the auto config for O2, could this be done, if yes how specifically can this be done.

02 XDA2 correct country code upgrade 1.72WWE

my first post and contribution.. hopefully it would be alot of help to other people..
this is the official IMATE 1.72 ROM...except that it was encoded to work with O2 XDA2 units
added the O2 splash screen to retain the O2 bootup image -just load O2.cab into your XDA2
the upgrade utility shouldnt show you any more country ID error for O2 XDA2 units.. if there are problems.. holler me ASAP!!
feedbacks would be nice, coz i would like to make upgrades for other Network providers as well..
Thanks for that.
Can you show me a step by step guide on how to upgrade O2 xda 2 1.60.WWE version to this?
Thanks again.
ok... im not an expert yet, coz i just had my XDA2 for a week, but i do enjoy tweaking and playing with it.. besides, the knowledge i gain thru reading this forum is more than enough..
ok.. here goes..
1. create a full BACKUP your XDA2.. (but i dunno if this is helpful should you fail to upgrade your ROM)
2. download the above file and extract it.
3. you should see it extract 7 files.
4. put your xda2 in the cradle connected to the PC
5. run HimaUpgradeUt.exe
6. wait around 30-60 mins. then follow the procedure as shown on your computer. (a hard reset would be required)
7. after the upgrade is done, you should see the IMATE screen upon booting up (instead of the O2 bubble screen) if you wanne be extra sure, check your XDA2 version.if everything is ok, then you should have upgraded it correctly
8. if you want to revert to the old O2 splash screen during bootup, then copy O2.cab to your XDA2 and run it there. Do a soft reset, and voila, it should be back to the old O2 bootscreen.
I suggest that you contact your NETWORK PROVIDER because you will need to manually configure GPRS, MMS, and INTERNET settings on your xda2 after doing the upgrade.
WARNING: i wont be held responsible or liable for failed upgrade of your unit. Please understand that by agreeing to upgrade your XDA2, you are taking full responsibility of whatever untoward incidents that may occur to your XDA2. Flashing the rom might lead to DATA LOSS, SYSTEM MALFUNCTION, and even DEVICE MALFUNCTION.
but.. the rewards of upgrading it is sweet!
Many thanks for all of these description.
BTW, how do you feel the upgrade?
What you really get from this?
Can you share with us?
Thanks again.
Cheers mate.
i dunno, im just a week old newbie in using XDA2
i just enjoy tweaking the XDA..so far, no problems here.
My xda2 currently is 1.66wwe. after upgrade to 1.72wwe, what's the different between it? anything increase? sorry because i'm a new bird
did a lil research.. so far, came to this...
The 1.72 ROM eliminates the majority of problems from the 1.66 ROM such as:
Increased battery drain
Device slows down
Bluetooth GPS devices don't work, even with Pocket Bluetooth Tools
Can it be downgraded back to O2 xda2 1.60WWE Rom?
Many thanks.
i doubt that it can be downgraded... i havent personally tried to downgrade my ROM to a lower version.. but there are other threads related to this, and they claim that when they tried downgrading their ROMS, their XDA2 died....
you can try searching for other topics if there are information about downgrading... .so far, i dont have any problems with my 1.72 ROM...
except that there is no running program application which enables me to switch off any running program in the background.. but i easily remedied it by downloading TASKMANAGER.... its quite the same with running programs...other than that, so far, so good.
Error 121 Language ID Error
Hi,
after running HimaUpgradeUt.exe I get the message:
Error 121 Language ID Error (N-2-1-0-1), the ROM image that you are trying to use is not designed to work with your Pocket PC.
I ran ERedit2003 Version 1.2.20 and opened the file ms_.nbf using the password 0x20040305. I saved the file with the different language settings WWE, ENG and GER. Always the problem remains the same.
My XDA2 currently has ROM 1.66.01GER.
Thanks for help.
try to change the operator name , too! or use other hymalaya upgrade files, from other roms!

Hi,
Thanks. But now I get the message:
Error 120 Language ID Error ( N-1-8-1-8 ), the ROM image that you are trying to use is not designed to work with your Pocket PC. I tried with settings O2 WWE, O2 GER and O2 ENG.
When specifying CDL instead of O2 the error code changes to Error 120 Language ID Error ( N-1-8-8-8 ).
So the problem remains the same
Thanks for help.
Help for beginners: upgrading O2 Xda II to ROM 1.72
New to Forum-sorry to be slow on the uptake. I am trying to undersand how to upgrade O2 Xda II (ExROM 160.50) to ROM 1.72 without losing the machine. Waxx says you need to reconfigure the ISP settings (I assume because they are lost in the upgrade). I cannot find O2 settings for GPRS Interenet and MMS on the net. Talking to O2 is a waste of time.
Does anyone have a step by step description that results in ROM 1.72/Radio 1.18 (or lower if 1.18 still in beta) working on O2 Xda II?
Has anyone reported doing it sucessfully. Have non recoverable failures been reported?
RamyG
Just copy the attached CAB file across to say, My Documents on your XDA, and run it via FileManager.
It will customise your O2 XDA II with all the correct settings.
Once it has done that (and you've tested it works), just uninstall the O2 Active bit and your settings will remain (well they did on mine)
BTW - I upgraded to the new ROM, and have had no problems at all ! Very sweet
Mark
Thnx Mark, just to make sure before I jump in: the steps are:
(1) upgrade to 1.72 using Waxx's attachement (is that the file you used?) (2) follow the procedure you described and I will get O2 customised Xda II (same as where I started) but with ROM1.72 and later Radio Stack. Right?
2 questions:
(a) are the GPRS setting for MOBILE WEB (post paid)
(b) what benefits should I expect from the upgrade? (other than the satisfaction that it succeeded, l if it works?
thnx
RamyG
Yep I used the attachment from Waxx ...
The procedure you mentioned is correct ... I did have a few heart stopping moments after the upgrade because (like you) I couldn't find the necessary settings for GPRS etc .. but the O2 cab file re-installs everything back to what it should be for the UK.
You are prompted to choose relevant settings - in this case you get a choice from either post-paid (MobileWeb) or PrePay ...
As for benefits, people are reporting better bluetooth support, and better battery life. Only upgraded mine yesterday, so can't comment on either yet !

Has anyone else had problems charging overnight with the ROM version?
Got Error 120: Country ID error N-8-1-1-1
Hi all,
I am new member here. I did upgrade to ROM 1.72WWE and seems working fine. Because the PDA is idle, I try to roll back to ROM 1.60.44 eng. and got the country id error N-8-1-1-1. I tried to set the regional to English (UK) and English (US) but failed. Any comment? My XDAII is bought from Asia-HK. Thanks a lot.
Chris
Mark thnx for your help. For all those undecided souls I can report that Waxx's ROM 172 upgrade works fine for O2 Xda II. (BTW: it takes 3 times as long to upgrade as they say it does - it's 30 min for each of ROM ExROM and Radio modules).
Mark, O2.cab did not work as exepcted for some reason. When I ran it, it simple created a text file with O2 network config info and did not actually configure the Xda II. The info was correct and a manual config worked first time. Puzzled, I ran the O2 cab again but from another directory. This time I got the O2 spiral (I may have gotten the network configed again I can't know as I had previously configured it manually . The upgrade did lose the O2 dialer screen and reverted to the iMATE one. This is trivial. the Net is full of free attractive skins. e.g http://sourceforge.net/projects/pocketpc-apps/
Mark Peters- I thank you again.

Upgrading to WM2003SE - LAYMANS TERMS REQUIRED!!!

Hi guys, I'm VERY new here
I have a UK Orange SPV M1000 with the following details:
Operator Version: 3.66.1.230
ROM Version: 1.66.00WWE
ROM date: 02/20/04
Radio Version: 1.10.00
Protocol Version: 1337.18
ExtROM version: 1.66.230
I want to upgrade to 2003SE because of what I've read about improved battery, improved BT and widescreen use (and cos I just do )
I've downloaded the ROM and ExtROM from the massive 26 page topic further down the page but ran the .exe and got ERROR 120: country ID error.
Hmmm....
I looked through the forum but to be honest a lot of the stuff went over my head and 30 pages of topic is a lot to read through...
Can someone PLEASE put down a step by step 'idiots' guide to upgrading my ROM with links to relevant things i would need to download/install/whatever
I know I'm asking a lot but it would really help me and I suspect many other people who might look at the forum and leave after a few minutes with spinning heads.
Also, I've not been able to find any posts in reference to the M1000, only O2 branded and original HTC devices. Does this mean I'll have problems connecting to Orange and will need to set up GPRS connections, etc myself?
One more thing.... I have an original Orange 1.66 ROM (downloaded from the Orange UK website). If I mess things up, don't like it, have to send it back to Orange, will i just be able to run that ROM update and everything will go back to how it was?
Phew, long 1st post!
Thanks for reading!!!
I upgraded mine yesterday with the help of a post on getting round the country id, however bluetooth and camera didnt work so had to go back to old rom, so yes you can go backwards.
Hi, I'll try to help you.
Now unrar the files you have. There you'll find "HimaGetDeviceData" file. Copy this one in your PPC.
> Then run it from there. HimaGetDeviceData won't do anything.
> then go to Windows directory and search for file called "Device Data". Copy it to your PC and open it.
there you will found data for your USB, Rom version, this meen 1.66.00wwe, PH10, and the last two are very importaint.
They can be ...
first one O2, Qtek, CDL, TMOBILE. Remember your. This is your Operator.
Second one can be ... WWE, ENG, GER. This is your Language.
After this, you need to download ER2003Edit. You can find it in the forom.
When you install this run the program and open ms_.nbf file first.
You will se the operator and Language. Change them if they are different from yours. ( this is the O2, QTEK, and WWE, ENG ).
Save the ROM file ( CTRL+S ).
Do this with the other two NK.nbf and Radio_.nbf files.
Then run " HimaUpgradeUt " and wait for " Congratulations " and you're ready.
Oh, when you get the Congr... Do hard reset.
(dont wory if you see on the screen of your PPC Radio stack or something like this isupgrading "Please wait" do your hard reset. )
Sorry for the bad English.
If have any questions ask
Hope this will help.
Ok, I have ER2003EDIT installed but when i tried to open ms_.nbf and it said i had the wrong password and asked me to enter one.
Any idea what it could be??
Thanks!
I think that you must not use the autodetect ROM, but the specific filetype: ms_.nbf. This worked for me...

XDA2i - Softwareupdate - ERROR-MEssages - need new IMAGE !!!

Hi guys
First of all thanks for everybody who is just reading this ...
I bought a XDA2i from Ebay (Original O2 - UK) - unlocked it via IMEI-Check - everything works as good as possible - i'am happy with my device.
ROM Version: 1.10.00 WWE
Rom date: 12/24/04
Radio Version: 1.00.00
Protocol Version: 1337.39
Extended ROM: -- (nothing mentioned)
Bootloaderversion: 1.01
But the device is taesing me when i try to update the software. I really tried now everything human possible, i have no clue how i can do the upgrade.
The offizial softare ( picked from the O2 webpage) is goin very well, its th only one i can upgrade - the other Roms doesn't work. I got Error Messages concerning countrie, ROM doesn't fit to my device, connection, bla bla ..
With the patched himalaya setup file its possible to start the ERASING of the ROM - but in the RUU Logfile i can see that the process ist stopped after 3 trials, then i have to make a softreset..
Okay i studied now this forum and a german one POCKET PC Phone , since around 2 weeks - but i found no solution. I tried to change the ROMS Operator / Language by th eROM Editor, as well i tried the HEX Editor solution nothing - my device is laughing at me - and i really get crazy..
Before starting my trials i made a ROM Image on a SD ( everything works ver well ) also i read it from SD and saved it to my pc hardrive by using the programm NTRW.
So in my opinion there must be the opportunity to get from somebody a working IMAGE !!! File ( not ROM , no nbf or the files which are already on the FTP SErver) and write it with NTRW to the SD Card - bring the device in bootloader Modus an install the ROM ??
!!!
Does anybody has a working IMAGE-FILE !! for me ( XDA2i O2 WWE) an is able to save that on the FTP.
I really would appreciate your help, but for me it seems to be the last chance to get a newer software on the device.
thanks a lot in advance
Forgive me if I've got this wrong, but which ROM are you trying to apply to the XDA2i? I've got the same phone and there isn't any official updated ROM to put on it. There is a weird kinda one sitting on the FTP but I suspect it's not complete as there isn't a Windows installer...only what appears to be files to be run from the phone itself.
None of the other ROMs on this board will work on the 2i as they're for other phones.
Cheers
Ant
I wonder why there is no ExtROM in your Andes
Ext. Rom is not installed, why during the new software installation i made a soft reset just before the Ext. Rom was going to install itself on the device.
I had a close look in the forum, i studied it - and there were a lot of guys which wrote they have an XDA2i !! with ROM of TMOBILE or IMATE or whatever - not an original from O2..
And i'am looking for one of this guys, who has an XDA2i and a newer ROM - and this guy should provide me a IMAGE file to be able to write it on a SD card ant ugrade this f* PDA
what happens when you try to re-install the latest rom?

How to add a new network operator?

I bought a new HTC Softbank X01HT phone from China and bought it back to New Zealand. I have successfully changed all the settings to NZ network, except quite often it won't ring when someone calls me... I have got sms/txt working, internet access working, i can make calls, and sometimes i can receive calls...
If i take the battery out and restart it, I get a message which says "Your current operator 53001 is not supported. You should obtain an update from your device vendor..."
The countries pre supported are Ausi, hong kong, INdo, Macau, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore, Taiwan, Thailand..... but not New Zealand.
My ROM version s 1.23.707.4
Rom Date 07/21/06
Radio Version 1.16.00.00
Protocol Version 32.53.7018.01H
Model Herm200
Pocket PX
Vodafone have been no help as they say they don't support parallel imported items, nor were Imate, same reason, kind of expected that.
Any ideas? this phone is really cool, but if i can't receive calls or roam with it, its basically useless for me...
ROM upgrade?
upgrading your device's ROM (and radio ROM) will probably fix your problem.
you should COMPLETELY read the wiki here at http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=HTC_Hermes and also Mr Vanx *excellent* upgrade guides at http://www.mrvanx.org/cms/
read BOTH before you try to upgrade or risk bricking your device. however, a ROM upgrade will probably fix your device.
does not seem like your device is SIM-locked (or else it wouldn't work at all with your SIM), but you might want to read http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=301952 nonetheless
Sounds like you've got one of the Dopod roms installed. There are a few things you can try before upgrading the rom and radio.
1. Ignore the message. Just install the operator settings for your carrier manually or with a pre-made cab file. Some of them are listed here http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=Hermes_provider_cabs , others you'll probably have to search for.
2. If installing your own settings still causes a conflict try deleting the other settings or use Bandswitch to disable them.
3. Try a hard reset and then, just before the customisations start, do a soft reset. The stuff Dopod put in their extended rom won't be installed but you'll also lose the 'operator not supported' message. You'll also have to manually input your carrier settings.
4. Upgrade to one of the wm6 roms but, as SkyyBoy says, be careful. Definately run Olipro's hardspl 2.10 (hardspl v7) and read Mrvanx's guide before beginning.
Oh yes, could you extract the 'you got message' sms notifies and post it here. I think it's kind of cool, but I'm too lazy to downgrade my rom just to get it.
I've just downgraded to the same ROM as you and I'm fine sending and receiving calls using my O2 and Vodafone sim cards (both from UK). I'm currently in UK but have also used this rom in China without problems.
The only difference between your and my setup is that I currently have radio 1.38.00.10. Yours is 1.16.00.00 which is (I think) the radio which comes with pof's CID/SIM unlocker - because the original shipped radio with this rom is 1.06.00.10. This suggests that the phone is super CID (a good start).
The radio is a bit old (which could be the problem) so I'd suggest upgrading it to at least 1.27.00.00 - but you'll have to read the threads and do some experimenting to find the best one for you. You can get the radios here http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=Hermes_ExtractedRadioRoms.
Before you upgrade the radio use olipro's hardspl 2.10 (V7) http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=296722. An error during radio upgrades is the quickest way to brick your phone and hardspl 2.10 will allow you an easy way to recover from this.
I am facing the same problem in order to add TIM Brasil, however I am not finding any cab file with the configurations
Someone could help me, please please?
