02 XDA2 correct country code upgrade 1.72WWE - MDA II, XDA II, 2060 ROM Development

my first post and contribution.. hopefully it would be alot of help to other people..
this is the official IMATE 1.72 ROM...except that it was encoded to work with O2 XDA2 units
added the O2 splash screen to retain the O2 bootup image -just load O2.cab into your XDA2
the upgrade utility shouldnt show you any more country ID error for O2 XDA2 units.. if there are problems.. holler me ASAP!!
feedbacks would be nice, coz i would like to make upgrades for other Network providers as well..

Thanks for that.
Can you show me a step by step guide on how to upgrade O2 xda 2 1.60.WWE version to this?
Thanks again.

ok... im not an expert yet, coz i just had my XDA2 for a week, but i do enjoy tweaking and playing with it.. besides, the knowledge i gain thru reading this forum is more than enough..
ok.. here goes..
1. create a full BACKUP your XDA2.. (but i dunno if this is helpful should you fail to upgrade your ROM)
2. download the above file and extract it.
3. you should see it extract 7 files.
4. put your xda2 in the cradle connected to the PC
5. run HimaUpgradeUt.exe
6. wait around 30-60 mins. then follow the procedure as shown on your computer. (a hard reset would be required)
7. after the upgrade is done, you should see the IMATE screen upon booting up (instead of the O2 bubble screen) if you wanne be extra sure, check your XDA2 version.if everything is ok, then you should have upgraded it correctly
8. if you want to revert to the old O2 splash screen during bootup, then copy O2.cab to your XDA2 and run it there. Do a soft reset, and voila, it should be back to the old O2 bootscreen.
I suggest that you contact your NETWORK PROVIDER because you will need to manually configure GPRS, MMS, and INTERNET settings on your xda2 after doing the upgrade.
WARNING: i wont be held responsible or liable for failed upgrade of your unit. Please understand that by agreeing to upgrade your XDA2, you are taking full responsibility of whatever untoward incidents that may occur to your XDA2. Flashing the rom might lead to DATA LOSS, SYSTEM MALFUNCTION, and even DEVICE MALFUNCTION.
but.. the rewards of upgrading it is sweet!

Many thanks for all of these description.
BTW, how do you feel the upgrade?
What you really get from this?
Can you share with us?
Thanks again.
Cheers mate.

i dunno, im just a week old newbie in using XDA2
i just enjoy tweaking the XDA..so far, no problems here.

My xda2 currently is 1.66wwe. after upgrade to 1.72wwe, what's the different between it? anything increase? sorry because i'm a new bird

did a lil research.. so far, came to this...
The 1.72 ROM eliminates the majority of problems from the 1.66 ROM such as:
Increased battery drain
Device slows down
Bluetooth GPS devices don't work, even with Pocket Bluetooth Tools

Can it be downgraded back to O2 xda2 1.60WWE Rom?
Many thanks.

i doubt that it can be downgraded... i havent personally tried to downgrade my ROM to a lower version.. but there are other threads related to this, and they claim that when they tried downgrading their ROMS, their XDA2 died....
you can try searching for other topics if there are information about downgrading... .so far, i dont have any problems with my 1.72 ROM...
except that there is no running program application which enables me to switch off any running program in the background.. but i easily remedied it by downloading TASKMANAGER.... its quite the same with running programs...other than that, so far, so good.

Error 121 Language ID Error
Hi,
after running HimaUpgradeUt.exe I get the message:
Error 121 Language ID Error (N-2-1-0-1), the ROM image that you are trying to use is not designed to work with your Pocket PC.
I ran ERedit2003 Version 1.2.20 and opened the file ms_.nbf using the password 0x20040305. I saved the file with the different language settings WWE, ENG and GER. Always the problem remains the same.
My XDA2 currently has ROM 1.66.01GER.
Thanks for help.

try to change the operator name , too! or use other hymalaya upgrade files, from other roms!

Hi,
Thanks. But now I get the message:
Error 120 Language ID Error ( N-1-8-1-8 ), the ROM image that you are trying to use is not designed to work with your Pocket PC. I tried with settings O2 WWE, O2 GER and O2 ENG.
When specifying CDL instead of O2 the error code changes to Error 120 Language ID Error ( N-1-8-8-8 ).
So the problem remains the same
Thanks for help.

Help for beginners: upgrading O2 Xda II to ROM 1.72
New to Forum-sorry to be slow on the uptake. I am trying to undersand how to upgrade O2 Xda II (ExROM 160.50) to ROM 1.72 without losing the machine. Waxx says you need to reconfigure the ISP settings (I assume because they are lost in the upgrade). I cannot find O2 settings for GPRS Interenet and MMS on the net. Talking to O2 is a waste of time.
Does anyone have a step by step description that results in ROM 1.72/Radio 1.18 (or lower if 1.18 still in beta) working on O2 Xda II?
Has anyone reported doing it sucessfully. Have non recoverable failures been reported?

RamyG
Just copy the attached CAB file across to say, My Documents on your XDA, and run it via FileManager.
It will customise your O2 XDA II with all the correct settings.
Once it has done that (and you've tested it works), just uninstall the O2 Active bit and your settings will remain (well they did on mine)
BTW - I upgraded to the new ROM, and have had no problems at all ! Very sweet
Mark

Thnx Mark, just to make sure before I jump in: the steps are:
(1) upgrade to 1.72 using Waxx's attachement (is that the file you used?) (2) follow the procedure you described and I will get O2 customised Xda II (same as where I started) but with ROM1.72 and later Radio Stack. Right?
2 questions:
(a) are the GPRS setting for MOBILE WEB (post paid)
(b) what benefits should I expect from the upgrade? (other than the satisfaction that it succeeded, l if it works?
thnx
RamyG

Yep I used the attachment from Waxx ...
The procedure you mentioned is correct ... I did have a few heart stopping moments after the upgrade because (like you) I couldn't find the necessary settings for GPRS etc .. but the O2 cab file re-installs everything back to what it should be for the UK.
You are prompted to choose relevant settings - in this case you get a choice from either post-paid (MobileWeb) or PrePay ...
As for benefits, people are reporting better bluetooth support, and better battery life. Only upgraded mine yesterday, so can't comment on either yet !

Has anyone else had problems charging overnight with the ROM version?

Got Error 120: Country ID error N-8-1-1-1
Hi all,
I am new member here. I did upgrade to ROM 1.72WWE and seems working fine. Because the PDA is idle, I try to roll back to ROM 1.60.44 eng. and got the country id error N-8-1-1-1. I tried to set the regional to English (UK) and English (US) but failed. Any comment? My XDAII is bought from Asia-HK. Thanks a lot.
Chris

Mark thnx for your help. For all those undecided souls I can report that Waxx's ROM 172 upgrade works fine for O2 Xda II. (BTW: it takes 3 times as long to upgrade as they say it does - it's 30 min for each of ROM ExROM and Radio modules).
Mark, O2.cab did not work as exepcted for some reason. When I ran it, it simple created a text file with O2 network config info and did not actually configure the Xda II. The info was correct and a manual config worked first time. Puzzled, I ran the O2 cab again but from another directory. This time I got the O2 spiral (I may have gotten the network configed again I can't know as I had previously configured it manually . The upgrade did lose the O2 dialer screen and reverted to the iMATE one. This is trivial. the Net is full of free attractive skins. e.g http://sourceforge.net/projects/pocketpc-apps/
Mark Peters- I thank you again.

Upgrading Extended ROM with ER2003edit

Hi there,
I know, there is also a special thread regarding this issue, but my question is more general:
I want to upgrade the (write protected) Ext ROM of my XDA. As I do not have an upgrade tool from o2, I've downloaded the latest upgrade from T-Mobile Germany and followed Softworkz's instructions and made my own Extended ROM.
But now I am not sure, if it will be possible to flash my XDAII with the MDAII flash utility (will be flashing the ExtRom with o2 Files only). Do I need the original o2-Sofware to flash or can I take any HTCHimalaya-Software to flash my device?
Thanks for comments...
Bobopopo
Hi Bobopopo!
As stated here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=6289 it's quite easy. You'll find a step-by-step How-To (in GERMAN!) here:
http://www.smartphone4u.de/xda2/tipps_tricks/extended_rom.html
And it works like a breeze! The only thing is that I don't know, whether your O2 xdaII will accept the T-Mobile ROM - but I don't see any reason why it shouldn't.
Only issue could be the Radio Stack Upgrade, but I have no problems at all with the T-Mobile Radio Stack in the O2 network.
Also I don't know of a way to backup your original ROM of the xda II - but maybe theres still the bootmanager way to back it up to an SD-Card!
Grüsse,
Klaas.
Finally flashed the ROM of my German XDAII with a German T-Mobile ROM (1.60). Has been no problem at all and I am impressed how easy it was (using ER2003edit). The only thing I have to work on is the homezone control, it is not working yet but not so important anyway.
I cooked my own ExtROM, but I think it will need some more improvement.
1. Is there any tool that further compresses the Extended ROM? (My ExtROM ist full but I would love to put some more programs inside)
2. My target is, that the XDAII will need about 5 minutes after a hard reset to install all the required software and get back the old settings. Will a backup with ActiveSync also remeber the favorits, connection settings, program settings aso.?
3. Is it possible to flash with the speed of USB 2.0? Until yet I have only tried with USB 1.1. (because I use a PCMCIA-card to provide USB 2.0 and the flashing manual says not to use an USB hub).
Thanks for some more tipps & tricks...
Bobopopo
@bobopopo and @admiral_k
Hey, I see your are also O2 customers in germany and also have the
homezone feature of O2.
When you did the upgrade, you also upgraded the radio stack...
I think the homezone feature is linked to radio-stack, so Homezone-Control will not work with t-mobile radio-stack.
I see two options... leaving out the radio-stack upgrade or forget the homezone-control.
Could you please write your impressions if it's worth upgrading the radio-stack. Actually if have the homezone-control disable most of the time so I would not really care, but it's nice to know that i can check if I am in my homezone... ( really interessing if you surf the web via local dial-in numbers... )
regards
Alex
Until now I did not see any improvements on the Firmware of the XDAII, but the T-Mobile ROM is working fine...
Regarding the Homezone control, I am pretty sure that this has nothing to do with the radio stack (Reason: After upgrading the whole firmware, the Homezone has been indicated (after a softreset) and disappeared after the next softreset.
So I think the Homezone control is dependent on the Ext. ROM (that I cooked myself by taking some of the new T-Mobile Ext. ROM and some of the old o2 Ext. ROM). Maybe I just didn't find the right mix.
I'll post a solution as soon as I find one...
Hi guys!
I am in a simular situation, I hava MDA II with T-Mobile OS and a German O2 subscription.
I would like to add the auto config for O2, could this be done, if yes how specifically can this be done.

Change O2 UK XDA2 ROM to M1000 Dutch Orange ROM fails at 99%

Having found the excellent walk-through post on how to amend the nbf files so that the correct country code is set, allowing you to change ROMs to a none country ROM, I set about to try it.
And in fact, changing the files, and re-packing them, was not too bad.
Then I ran the upgrade program for the M1000 Orange Dutch (but WWE version) ROM, on my UK O2 XDA2.
And lo and behold, it no longer failed the country check, and proceeded to upgrade!
It managed to erase the current ROM no problem...
Then it started to install the new ROM...
And it got right up to a lovely 99%, and then hung for a while, before the installer program coming back with an Upgrade Failed error, and telling me to soft re-boot and try again.
Soft re-booting brought up the O2 'water' boot image, but with the ROM details etc re-written for the new verison 1.66 instead of 1.60 - but no backlight would come on, and it wouldn't get any further than this.
I had to go into Bootloader mode, to get it to try again.
And after three attempts, it ALWAYS fails at 99% of the ROM install.
So, does anyone have any ideas?
In the meantime, I am back to my O2 ROM, but I was led to beleive, from the tutorial, that ANY ROM could be used, as long as they were meant for a Himalaya device.
So, why does the Orange M1000 Dutch WWE 1.66 ROM, always fail at 99% when run on a UK O2 XDA2 1.60 WWE?
Anyone?
i think that other have don it without failure
could it be the file you downloaded which is a bit corrupt ?
try downloading it again
Sorry for the offtopic question but where did ya get the Orange Dutch rom?
I really would like to get that one...
Cheers
Panja
maybe dutch == danish
both starts with d and ends with h could be a mistake
from what i know the danish orange rom is the only one out yet but of cause i could be wrong
That would be the answer yes...
I am Dutch and check Orange once and a while and for as far as I know the m1000 isn't even released in Holland...
I just rang Orange because I can't get GPRS to work and I told them I have a XDA II, same as the m1000. But they couldn't help me because they don't have any settings for the m1000 yet...
Pretty g*y they couldn't help me
well what you need is really only access point
and depending on orange login and pass
Oops.
I meant Danish.
Second time I have done that this week.
Copenhaagen and Eindhoven - it's becuase they are so close together maybe *lol* ;-)
Rudegar, any ideas who the users were that got it to work, so I can ask them for the patched ROM files and try that?
m8
I got it to work!
Just download the update from the Danish Orange site.

I do what exactly?
If left as is, it won't work, as it fails the country check (er remember, it's a UK O2 XDA2 I'm trying to install it on here).
On the other hand, if I use xdatools to alter the nbf file, it allows me to run the install, but constantly fails the process at 99% of the first ROM install...
So, any ideas?
What device did you install it on?
i think he followed this guide
http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=8205
That's the very one I refer to earlier, that taught me how to change the country info.
The install fails on 99% though.
So Panja, have you got your extracted files to share if you put it on an XDA2 O2 as well?
Well I've downloaded the ROM upgrade again, and worked through the tutorial steps to change the device settings.
Can I just check something...
I currently have an O2 XDA2, and I am upgrading it with an Orange ROM.
When I enter the device settings, it IS "PH10 O2" I enter as the settings, NOT PH10 Orange, as I want the device to end up as it were. I do enter the device's EXISTING settings Panja, yes?
That's what I have done anyway - entered PH10 O2, so as I speak, it is busy wiping the ROM from the device, connected to my other PC.
I'll be sure to post back here if I manage to get past the 99% new ROM install this time, with a new ROM download, and a new attempt at altering the nbf files...
Wish me luck folks.
NEVER one to tempt the hand of fate, so I will start by saying it's not finished YET...
But it passed the ROM update ok, and now is onto the Extended ROM.
Keep wishing me luck folks...
Weh hey!
Nice new Orange XDA2, if I say so myself.
It looks a bit better, the proper Windows Mobile Boot Screen, than an O2 one, especially with an Orange SIM in...
So now I've saved the amended .nbf files on my PC, so that if needs be and a re-upgrade is needed, I can just run the installer, then delete the real nbf files and replace with my altered ones.
It's just busy doing a Sprite backup restore now - quality. Thanks everyone!
I'll repost back with my experiences of reliability and speed soon if I notice anything untoward...
Oh blast...
I've noticed something straight away...
The new implementation of Cleartype is TERRIBLE.
I can see blue edging to letters all over the place as it attempts to anti-aliase the font.
Previously with the O2 ROM and Cleartype, the letters were smooth, but black throughout...
I seriously think I will either have to forego using Cleartype, or do a ROM re-upgrade back to O2 at this rate.
Thanks for nothing Orange...
After all that, going back to O2 ROM.
Cleartype as per Orange's idea of it, is terrible. Blue all over black text, yellow on the white menu text, and sore eyes all round.
DOH
So now I have to go through it all over again to change the Country Code, to get the O2 ROM back on...
Great...
Sorry I couldn't help ya in time.
I'm sick @ home and didn't check the board till now...
Nice you got it finally to work.
Cheers
Panja,
Did you find the Cleartype as per the Orange ROM, to be unreadable, and full of colour cast?
Also, now that I have gone back to the O2 ROM becuase of the terrible Cleartype with the Orange ROM, do you know if you can just do an Upgrade whereby you only install the Orange EXTENDED ROM onto the O2 current ROM?
I have both ICQ and Messenger, if this is better for you...
I didnt use the cleartype on the Orange rom.
I swapped the Orange rom for the QTek rom.
Happy with the Qtek to be honist...

Steps in upgrading 1.72WWE (Special Thanks to WAXX)

Well first of all i like to say Thank You very mush to WAXX who helped me in upgrading my o2 1.66 to 1.72. Thanks You WAXX.
********************************************************
Well... firstly download this file came from WAXX.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/download.php?id=1261
After the download extract the zip file inside it, you shoul be seen 7 files.
I recommend you to extract it in desktop/new folder.
Plug the cradle in your USB.
Insert your XDA II in cradle
Run HimaUpgradeUT.exe, Then follow the steps.
if error appeared, remove the device in cradle and soft reset it, then run the HimaUpgradeUT.exe again.
if error appeared again do a soft reset again.
If no error then it will now smoothly running up to 100% of the proccess.
For me the process takes only 15 min. There are stage 1 to stage 5 for completion.
That's it.

Goodluck.. GodBless..

You can approach me for some questions.
Take note this ROM was came from MAXX.
Thanks WAXX for your help.....

cheers
Hi
I downloaded the file and unzipped it, when i try the upgrade it says error 120 country id error. my rom is 1.60.00 wwe dutch what is the problem?
Thanks
I would strongly afvise anyone who wants to upgrade to use the 'manual; by dcs together with any ROM Upgrade to prevent (future) country-id errors.
see http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?p=62760#62760
double_ofour,
pare i certainly hope you modified WAXX's ROM to set your Device to O2, instead of CDL You may have had a successful ROM upgrade now, but setting your device to CDL has major implications for future ROM upgrades (Hint: You cant use official O2 ROMS).
Pare how can i convert CDL to o2? step-by-step please

XDA1 with GSM ERROR on bootloader 1.51

I upgraded a TMobile XDA1 got the main ROM upgrade then went and tried to upgrade the radio stack. As I see from the many posts a bad thing to do. But this leaves me with a broken unit. The radio was T310. I can not see how I can solve this problem. I have an SD card, I have a friends German unit with an ENG Rom and the orignal radio which I will leave alone. How can I fix mine?
Thanks
GSM error on Bootload 1.50
Looks pretty much the same as my problem. By pressing the joystick after the error message, I get one step further, but no contact or upload of the ROM. I hope some wise person can supply an answer,
I have the same problem...
XDA O2 on Wallaby BootLoader v5.15 I see the error : "GSM ERROR"
my pda don´t start good I only see the rom version (3.17.03) and a blue wallpaper of O2..
I already update my rom but it don´t work yet !
Where can I find a GSM rom update? I'm from Portugal
What more can I do ?
Please, help me !
thanks

GSM Error
I have tried a number of solutions. None seem to work. If someone has the GSM rom and a solution to upload it let us know. I have tried coping a new radio version to the windows dir on the PPC, this fails. I have removed the back cover and battery again this does not work. The only alternative is to send it back for repair (expensive) or get a new one. I have looked at the solutions in the forum area and on the web but can not find an answer. The unit is an old TMobile (GERMAN) Xda. Upgraded the OS OK then messed up the radio. So as I say let me know if someone has a proven solution. Thanks.
How to fix GSM Error Problem ....
Download the XDA-Developers ROM Version 1.1.
Install the ROM on your Device via SD-Card and bootloader.
The phone should start up and give you the screen allignment and the whole menu!
Download an Upgrade for your device. This depends ont the model you are using. Check the sticker at the back of your device.
If it is a PW10A-Model download RSU Version 4.16.
If it is a PW10B-Model download RSU Version 6.24.20.
Extract the downloaded ZIP-File and copy all files to the /Windows directory of your device.
Copy the RSUpgrade.exe additional to the /windows/startup directory.
Make an soft reset of your device.
Maybe the upgrade will stop again at 1%, this may occur when you have an empty battery.
Place your device in the cradle. Run Active Sync on your device.
The RSU Upgrade will run in the background.
Wait for about 10 Minutes. The upgrade should complete in the background....
Afterwards all should work again...
Good luck....

GSM Error
Many thanks for the information. I have tried this but to sorry to say this does not work for me. I can get the RSUgrade.exe to load on the PDA, it stops at 1% and then hangs. The XDA was a TMobile GER unit with 32Mb. I have two units the same, I attempted to upgrade the radio on one and it failed at 10% rebooted and hung with GSM error. Since then I am at a loss as to the next step apart from throwing it in the bin.

Hi again.
You PM'ed me, that you have flashed the Atom Life Rom.
But you've not talked about the missing radio and imei.
You've said, that you can't flash back the german Romdump.
Now you write, that you've done it.
You don't give full informations, and now you are crying for help ?
Without more and complete informations, I think no one can help.
How did you do the update ?
How did you solve to bypass the CID check ?
What's with the missing files you described in your PM ?
Did you flash it ?
There are many missing informations.
sorry. i copied your 2 files on a minisd card.
my problem first,
if the telephone started to the bootloader menue on step 5 Burn mto/bt .... the telephone needed the file i mailed you.
if the minisdcard is connected and you enter the bootloader, it´s started automaticly without needing any files.
did you mean the cid while starting the upgrade process under windows?
if it´s this, i started the firmware .exe and on the second next to upgrade i clicked next and hold the downkey on my keyboard, bypass battery and active sync.
yes i flashed your dump, but it seems there is noch gms up/downgrade in your dump.
i hope o2 germany released a full german firmware so i can reactivatet my telephone radio stack.
TIA

Additional info: bootloader checks file version and product version numbers; so, for the xda comet - the 12-byte header should be:
08 00 00 00 30 38 32 34 30 37 34 31 (hex)
ID: 08240741 (decimal)
The following files are responsible for boot up version check:
mxip_oem.dll
mxip_oem.ver
My particular interest is the ID. I have tried flashing my WWE Atom with a CHT ROM in Windows XP DSUU, and I only changed the 12-byte header of the CHT ROM to match my present device ROM. In this case, WWE. The flash finished successfully with all the CHT related files on my device.

Yes, but as I understand, he damaged the device while flashing the Atom Life ROM (No GSM/Imei).
That means, something was wrong while update.
I don't know, if it's possible to restore the Radio and Imei by flashing the complete update again.
If it has success, he can simply flash the Comet ROM by MiniSD.
I think, if he lost Imei and Radio, it won't be possible to fix the problem.
@ nikon110:
Have you ever tried to flash the Atom Life update again ?
Maybe the file is damaged ? Download it again.
I don't know, if it might be possible to flash the radio via MiniSD.

i got an o2 setup where i can choose the connection type (gsm)
but i missed some countries.
in the setup there are only chinese, australian and indian countries to choose.
nothing about the uk or others.
the automatic found nothing and the manager chooses australia and a provider from australia.
i copy vl1d_pda_Ver.mot to the minisd
i tried to flash via bootloader an minisd with point 5 burn MOT/BL via UART.
the the device show: Please insert Mini-SD card to start downloading.
after inserting minisd the device show:
-> Found Mini-SD
->Files check error, cannot download MOT.
now the question:
does anybody know how to create the MOT (it´s the radio stack i think after reading many sites) from a new german xda comet?
i think that´s the way to reactivate the radio stack. i hope so...
i missed my device...

PS: scorpio 16v. thanks for your german dump. but after flashing yours again ít seems that the radio stack isn´t in the dump...
PS: jiggs. i only got the original wwe exe. how can i remove the header?
or is it possible to expand the original wwe exe. i can´t found the temp files if the setup expand the files. any idea?

Where did you get this file ?
There isn't a .mot file in the Atom Life update !

No, the dump containes only OS and Extended ROM.
If you only flash OS and/or Extended ROM, this problem would never happen.

You must start the update. Wait until the updateutility starts. Don't close it !
Go to Windows/Temp folder.Or better open it before, than you can see which files are extracted. Now you can copy all files to your prefered destination.
I think the file "amss.mbn" is the Radio, but I don't know if other files are needed too.
My tipp to you, flash back the german Dump and sent it back for fixing the problem.
And remember, if you ever want to change the ROM, flash only OS and/or Extended ROM via MiniSD.
Than, I believe, you'll never brick your device.
Hello,
I made the same mistake, as I updated the XDA Comet using the DSUU and of course the radio stack seems to be down. It could all be due to SIM-Locking, which enforces the radio part to remain down.
The question would be, whether it will turn out that updating the radio stack to the German one is possible ? Maybe as part of the Atom Life Kitchen research.
Thank you very much.
I decided to give the WWE 150507B2 a try and the situation has changed slightly, though of course it's by no means corrected.
T-Mobile (Germany) sim is recognized and I'm prompted to type my PIN in. After typing the PIN, the answer from the radio stack/WM6 (whoever might be) is: Unknown SIM Error and I'm asked to type my PIN once again.
System Info shows that both IMEI and Radio are "Not Ready".
A Vodafone (Germany) SIM is not even detected. (and yes it works in other handsets and worked before in XDA Comet).
Again, if the German radio stack could be dumped and the inserted in the temporary folder the DSUU uses, it could be an option to restore it. So if anyone could give a try at dumping it, I'd be more than glad to later perform the DSUU replacement test.
Best regards
Hello,
I made the same mistake, as I updated the XDA Comet using the DSUU and of course the radio stack seems to be down.
I find many life in asia , the radio is 2340, but the comet radio is 2350.
I use a updater only for 2340 to update my ppc. But feiled.
My Comet lost radio....
Can anybody help me to solve the problem....
Thank you very much.
There are 2 obvious solutions
1. O2 Germany publishing a DSUU with the original german software. IMHO the CD-Rom that comes with the XDA should have it included, just in case users want to flash back the device to its original state.
2. Someone being able to dump the radio stack from a German Comet. Of course, learning how to flash it back has to be done too.
Until either 1 or 2, I think that the best chance is to flash back German OS + Ext Rom and send it back to O2 for repair. They will obviously flash it back to the original state.
But I would like to avoid wasting a full month in the process of sending it to O2 and getting it back.

1. Why should O2 offer an Update to restore your device ?
To restore you only need a Hardreset. If you flash an other ROM, it's your problem and not O2's.
2.It's not possible to dump the Radio, sorry.
Many Atom Life user have changed their OS from chinese to english or reverse.
I don't know if they have all the same Radio.
For example, you can't downgrade an HTC Hermes with Radiobootloader 1.08 with an Radio with bootloader <1.08 it allways ends with a corrupt Radio.
Maybe it's the same with the Comet radio.
I think the only solution is the Service Center.

What if an application destroys the ability to restore the PDA even with a Hard reset? Virus have not striken hard the PDA world but they may do sooner or later and that might be one the undesired effects we may be facing.
Whenever I have bought a laptop, the manufacturer has always given me a recovery CD, either in the form of a full OS CD or a customized recovery CD.
Why should a PDA manufacturer be special and be able to avoid providing me
with a copy of the OS I paid for ? (even if the OS is given to me in such a form that I can only install it in my device)
I am not calling for an update, but the original version of the software that came with my device and I have paid for.
P.D.
It is of course my own fault if I flash the ROM and something goes wrong. Stimmt!
today i got my repaired o2 comet back.
the services changes the pcb. it seems the romupdate killed the hardware.
thx for help scorpio16v 4ur rom dump
