How to uninstall extROM applications (caller PIC)? - MDA II, XDA II, 2060 ROM Development

I really want to get rid of this software. I know, that there is the way to unlock ext rom, delete this cab file and hardreset, but I hope there is less painful way to do it.
TIA

How do I uninstall SPB GPRS Monitor?

Cooked my own ROM and got an expired trial version with it. Remove Programs in Settings does not list it.
Is there a way I can unistall it, or at lease stop it from running? Like a registry setting?
Thanks,
Paul...
do a hard reset
The only way to fully uninstall GPRS monitor file is to do a hard reset.
aao588 , I don't think hard-reset will help, seems like he has 'cooked' the GPRS monitor into the rom. After hard-reset the program will be still in the rom, unless he flash it with another rom.
e1design, I don't use this software, not sure about it, you can try look into the \Winodws\Start up folder, delete the .lnk or exe file that start this program.
First remove it from the Today items
Then go to \Windows\Startup and delete the file called GPRS Notify
Finally soft reset

remove apps that are installed during hard reset

hi ppl
i just installed the latest qtek rom. i did remove some of the unnecessary cabs, but forgot to remove that f***ing caller id program.
now i did configure everything (ringtones, installation of programs, clock, screen ......) and then the phone did ring and i realized that caller id is installed
is there anyway to get rid of it w/o reinstalling a "cleaned" ext.rom ??
thanks,
regards ize|man

Integrate ROM with Extended Rom

Hi folks,
I've really been trying to find the information I'm asking for. So please just tell me if my questions have been asked before
I'm using the unbranded Tytn with Eplus (ger). The device itself works and I wouldn't change anything about the software if it wasn't for Active Sync. I sometimes have to end it with the Task Manager and start it again before it will sync anything. He doesn't even connect to the Exchange server. Sometimes there's the message "waiting for network" (or similar, own translation). Sometimes there simply NO message at all (where he usually says "looking for changes", etc.
Finally he claims the host is unreachable - other applications (Pocket IE, e.g.) don't see a problem getting their packets out.
This is great with Push Mail. As far as I can say he gets his problems when I'm moving (driving car, even when going to the other side of a building): He changing the cell phone masts. He loses his connection and is uncapable of regaining it.
Does anyone know this problem? And if, is it fixed by any update? I'd say since it seems to be an application-only problem upgrading the windows rom should be enough, shouldn't it?
And how can I use the rom from Vodafone with my original extended rom to keep my provider settings?
First of all try the EXtROM unlocker to make sure it works on your current ROM or look for your ExtROM on the Wiki.
If you can unlock your or if your ExtROM is on the Wiki then you can just update the windows ROM. When the ROM is updated and you go through the initial setup, wait for it to say it will install some additional programs. Hit soft eset before the timer counts down to the install of the ExtROM to stop it.
Then use the ExtROM unlocker and delete all the stuff in there. Then put your ExtROM contents in there. Next, either run the ExtROM stuff manually or I usually do a hard reset and let the device do it automatically.
If that doesn't fix your connection problems I would suggest exchanging it for a new one if possible.
I also like the fact you refer to your TyTN as a 'He.'

jokinawa I thought we could have the ext rom initiate itseld unless the cabs were signed with htc's thingy? unless this has change recently. Oh how I would love to try the south africa rom with a cingular ext rom and some goodies...

hehe
I use the Imate 1.20 ROM with the Softbank ExtROM that autoinstalled after I replaced them and did a hard reset. I also did it previously with the HTC ROMs.
then it should work fine since all those cabs came from the carrier. but i meant for say installing ms voice command

I think since its capabilities to frustrate his owner this devices definitely have to have a soul. Or are at least living somehow.
Okay, I have to admit, "she" would be more appropriate in this case, but...
I'm still used to the update procedures from my old Qtek 9090, where the rom, radio and ext were in 3 seperate image files and where you could just delete those you didn't want to be upgraded.
I wasn't sure if I would have had all the Vodafone stuff and couldn't reverse it. But you seem quite sure that their individual stuff is in the Ext I'll have a try tonight.
My Ext can be downloaded from the site. So I can skip extracting it.
By the way: I the ftp server sometimes down? I couldn't connect yesterday from home. Now, from work, it works fine and fast.
No, didn't really work. I've got the impression that it is a little bit more reliable, but what is a push mail service that can't provide at least 99% availability? If I have to look at my phone every hour to make sure Active Sync is still doing what it is supposed to do.
I've not heard of many people experiencing this problem, but since it is only Active Sync (other programs don't have this problem) I don't see what I would get by having the phone replaced... ?

Dialer Needed for US Cellular

I am using the dialer included in DCD 3.2.6, but cannot access the ## codes in the dialer. Is there a dialer that works best with USCC?
If you install the DCD USCC Carrier cab, the # codes should work. I use them all the time.
i.e. ##778 opens PRL, etc.

Thanks for your reply.
I have installed the carrier cab, but I figured I would redownload/reinstall to ensure.. it wanted to uninstall the previous install of the same version number, to which I said yes. It couldn't uninstall it, but offered to install anyways. Which took. But still not taking the ##778 type codes. I there a way I can take the HTC Titan Phonecanvas (dialer) out of the kitchen into a cab file for a reinstall of that? If this would be relevant.
Have you installed a different dialer since flashing the phone? It's possible the new dialer you installed may have overwritten the file needed for the ## codes.
Even if you uninstalled that dialer, it may not have restored the file.
You can try backing up your phone, doing a hard reset and reload the carrier cab and see if they work then.
Mine have always worked when running a DCD rom, no matter which dialer I flashed with.

Ok, did a SPB backup, hard reset, and did the carrier cab again, but still no go.. did a friends phone from scratch, and his works fine..
I am thinking I may have had the vogue dialer in my .nbh? I rebuilt the .nbh with the titan dialer for friend.
Can I redo my kitchen .nbh and still have my SPB restore be ok? Or can I just get a .cab for the titan dialer?
Not sure, I know there are certain versions of SPB designed to do that, but I'm not sure. The main issue is it might restore registry entries that don't need to be and could cause some issues. Can't hurt to try, however worse case you would have to reinstall app yours apps by hand if it doesn't work.
I'm sure there is a cab for the titan dialer, however the Vogue dialer has always worked for me with the codes as well.

SPB Backup has a "ROM Upgrade" mode that is supposed to be for when you change your ROM but want to keep all your programs and whatnot without having to reinstall them all. I've used it once and didn't notice any problems but I didn't keep using my phone that way for very long (only a few days at the most, I don't remember completely to be honest). Most people on here recommend against doing that. I've never had a problem with the ## codes on whatever dialer the default for DCD's ROMs is unless I was trying to do Sprint specific codes and I assumed they didn't work because I'm on Telus.

Having problems removing a program

So, a friend of mine recommended some applications. Among them was Sprite Backup. So, after a while, I've decided that I don't need this program as I haven't used it once. When I tried to remove it from Start-Settings-Remove Programs here's what I get: It asks me if I want to remove the application from the phone -> I chose YES -> after a couple of seconds it shows me this: Sprite Software was not completely removed. Do you want to remove it from the list of installed programs? -> Yes -> nothing happens, it just returns to the list of programs from the Remove Programs menu.
The program is installed on the memory card. Could this be the reason?
I'm thinking of just deleting all the files from the Program Files folder. Do you think it's a good decision? Are there any other ways of removing the program?
There are some applications that help you remove programs. SKTools is one of them. I don't think it's free though and I'm not sure if your job will be done.
