everyday I receive about 5-10 SMS from the network on my xda1.
The text in the sms is very simple only @-symbols (about 15-40 in a row)
What does this mean?
How can I avoid these messages?
Thanx
Change provider :?: Change number :?:
have you asked your provider ?
i mean if they are sendt from the provider
then they would have a better idea as to why and how to stop
them then other owners of the same phone would right ?

Hello,
Just recently I noticed I can't send long sms anymore from my O2 XDA. Before it used to work. The only thing I've done is to add general sw to it, in addition to that patch showing senders name rather than only mobile number when receiving new sms-messages.
Does anyone have a clue what this is? I have checked all SMS settings and they are definitely fine.
The error message I get is this one:
'Your SMS message cannot be sent. Contact your customer service center for more information.'
Hmmmm... please help..

What software have you added?
ROM version: 3.14.17 ENG
Radio version: 4.17 (just upgraded, but had problem also before that)
Protocol version 32S54
Programs added recently:
SMS-Name Patch (Paragon Software SMS Name)
HTC PROGRAMME B (the radio-upgrade..??)
ACDSee Mobile for WinCE
Macromedia Flash Player
Tillanosoft SmallMenu
DK ipCalc
Spb GPRS Monitor
Pocket Media PocketDivx
.. and some more..
I don't know when it happened, because I usually do not write
so many long sms messages..

(it's me again, got a username now..)
I hereby conclude that my problems sending long sms's must be something weird with my local Telenor Mobil provider in Norway. I was in Monaco last week, and I had no problems at all to send long sms's, even to same recipients that did not work before... And even by using the same Norwegian sms centre... hmmm, really strange thing.. So I reported this to my provider, of course getting all general nonsense replies with settings on mobile etc, but they also admitted that the QTEK1010 phone could only send messages less than the length of 2 sms's at a time????
I don't understand this at all... is my phone pushing the sms's out too quickly for the sms centre? does it think I am flooding it??
Any ideas here, any other free sms message centres I could try this with?

Hi Guys,
my xda seems to only ring a few times before going to voicemail,
i am sure there is a way you can set the time
anyone kindly advise?
thanks
Ali
please
There is a dial string you can send, but it varies by carrier and location. What carrier and where? You might also just call them and have them set it, or tell you the code.
For T-Mobile USA:
**004*+15203319999**_ _#
Instead of _ _ put in time before forwarding, 10-30 seconds in increments of 5 seconds.
Instead of the phone number above, use whatever your local voice mail lead number is (usually area+prefix+9999).
thanks a lot for your supply.
I am with Orange in the UK.
Any ideas?
cheers
Hi All,
I'm sure this has been raised before however i couldn't find in search.
Is it possible to increase the delay on call divert for un-answered calls, at the moment my xda forwards the call through after only 3 rings....quite short.
Or is this a network controlled setting? I've gone through the options in the voice mail setup.
I'm running WM2003 .21 release, on the Australian Telstra network.
Thanks for your help
Steve
Delya before VMS
On Orange in UK, it is network controlled. To change it I have to drop my SIM back in Nokia phone, change it and put back in XDA. I guess this probably applies to all networks.
Hi Pete, thanks for that....put my SIM into a Nokia and changed the settings.
It's strange this is missing from the XDA!
PS - For others stuck in this situation you can call your operator and they can set the delay for you.
Cheers
Steve
hi all
we have just got our O2 XDA back from the repairers, they ended up sending us a new phone, and now we get to use it finally...
but we have a problem with sending SMS messages, the XDA gives the generic message "sms message cannot be sent, contact customer service center for more information" every time we try to send one
we can make and recieve phone calls and can recieve SMS messages
we have tried 2 different sim cards, both give the same results, though both are from the same network
does the phone number NEED to be in the international type with country numbers?
what are we missing?
thanks

if it does then it would be pretty easy to test
in my settings
phone
services
i have an option on the list called Voice mail and SMS
if i pick get setting i get a phone nr from the network
try looking if you have a nr there too
so the phone needs a special number to send SMS messages?
I have been into services before, it showed a sms phone number, but it was different to ours so I thought I had to change it to the XDA's mobile number... was this incorrect?
cheers
MADMAX
my number in what it call
sms service center
is most surdenly not the same nr as my phone nr
and i never messed with it
yep you were right,
I needed the correct service center number, it must have been the one I replaced with our phone number... a silly mistake....
its taken me quite a while to track down any info about it....
thanks mate
