what is flight mode - MDA II, XDA II, 2060 ROM Development

hello please help i have run xda unlock program and the display reads start of repair process, preparing modem. found all locks to be already unlocked! it seems your device was successfully repaired. after closing this application turn flight mode on then off. what is the flight mode . also my device keeps saying invalid or missing sim card you can still make emergency calls if you service provider supports it. invalid pin pin must be between 4 and 8 digits in length can you tell me were im going wrong. thanks

Flight mode is the term used for when the phone radio transmitter is turned off but the PPC is still on. nCalled flight mode because it is how you need to setup your PPC if you want to use it in a plane.
On the XDA II to turn on flight mode, tap and hold the signal strength icon. A pop up will appear. The top section will allow you to turn the radio off (which turns flight mode on). Repeat the process to turn the radio back on (and flight mode off).

Flight Mode Problem

Dear All,
I was using 4.0.0.3. During my air travel i used to switch on the flight mode and it after landing i used to turn it off. It used to work properly.
But now after every time i land my phone refuses to detect a network. So i have to take out my sim. put it inside a 3310 or any other phone where it start working. After that when i put the sim card back in to my neo it starts working fine.
Is there something wrong i m doing.
regards,
vinit
Does the phone turn on when you deactivate flight mode? Do you have to remove the sim or does a soft reset suffice? Try to clean the card, I had similar problems. Try to reactivate the phone not by using the comm manager, but the wireless manager (tap on the connection icon in the top bar).
i had similar problem but it finished after uninstalling htc xbutton . or not installing it at all .use gullum's IX rom its without xbutton.
I do not use HTC xButton. It is not installed on my phone.
I used all methods suggested by the infestor. Tried cleaning the card many times. The phone turns on when i deactivate flight mode. Even tried doing this using the buttong on the tray as suggested by infestor.
I have to physically remove the sim card. This is turning quite a bit of a problem. Tried to take it to my phone operator. In front of them it suddenly started working fine.
Should i add that mine is an old sim card. i think a 16k sim card. it was issued in 2000. Can tha be a reason?
Regards,
Vinit.
I had problems on my prophet loggin into network because I had manual network selection. Somehow it didn't connect to chosen network from time to time, so I turned it to automatic and everything is fine since then. Maybe this will help ?
settings/phone/network -> network selection (under WM6 and WM5 i think)

Tried this as well. The only solution which i have right now is to switch off my phone when i m flying..and switching it on again...
the only solution is to press green button (call button) after you switch off flight mode and it will work.

[Q] Use without activation?

I purchased an I500 from ebay not realizing it does not take a sim card. Oops, my bad. Due to circumstances i can't get it returned so im stuck with it.
I was considering using it as an MP3 player (cheaper than an ipod with very similar function) however each time i start it up it says "Press Send to activate your phone."
Well this wont work, im in Canada, it tries to dial out and i get a no service message.
I know i can bypass the activation by pressing *#83786633 but i want to prevent it from asking me to activate alltogether. Anyone ever experience this? Do you have any suggestions?
I'm interested to know this as well as I purchased an I500 to do the same thing. Mine hasn't shown up yet but I'll be going through a similar situation. My understanding (and this could be incorrect) is that yes you will be able to use it as an iPod Touch, but it may keep asking you to activate. It'd be sweet if it is possible bypass this because the I500 could be a really fantastic PMP.
Just a guess since I can't test it:
Try putting the phone in airplane mode. This will turn off the radio and maybe that will stop the phone from asking you to activate. You can leave it in airplane mode indefinitely since you won't be using it as a phone. Again, I'm only guessing.
Wifi can still work, just turn it back on after you enable airplane mode.

As soon as you turn off airplane mode, or if anything needs GPS, Bluetooth, Wifi, etc. the phone can trigger the setup process.
Good idea tho, thanks for your input!
Did you try freezing the setup wizard with TiBu?

No, never thought of that. I did, however, find out how to trick the phone into thinking it was activated...
To access the hidden menus from the dialer:
• Open the dialer and enter *#83786633 then press the Home key
• Open the dialer again (clear previously entry if it is still present) enter *#22745927
• Enter the SPC 000000 then enable Hidden Menu
Now you can enter Service Mode by entering **772
In the service mode you can set the phone's number, the code for the carrier, etc. I just found numbers for my local carrier (so they wouldnt be rejected as invalid, you can try random ones if you like) and it worked!
You may have to put the SPC code in twice... not sure why

[Q] Emergency calls only - if been outside coverage

Whenever I go to underground parking or roam, then phone will sometimes never get connected again - just saying "emergency calls only" in the display instead of operator name. I can get connected to the network again by doing airplane mode on/off, but this is a huge hassle as it can take hours for me discover that the phone has went into its not wanting to reconnect to network mode.
This was first day out the the box, nothing done with the phone. Tried recover to factory reset, same issue still. Is the phone simply broken? It's not a SIM card issue, works great with old WinMobile. I have a Samsung Gio.

[Q] SGS2-flight mode problem

well to start with, i bought this samsung galaxy s2 mobile, it has been working absolutely fine until 3 days ago. My battery was low and it went into flight mode, i connected my mobile to the wall charger and it started charging up but since then, my mobile is in flight mode, i keep turning it off and it internally goes into flight mode, in settings it shows its off but on top bar of my screen, there is the flight icon, i cant make or receive any calls/texts since this started happening, I tried soft reset (removing the battery for few mins), didnt work. I tried to factory reset my mobile but its asking for some password, i tried my google password from which i configured the device at the time of purchase, but it says the password is incorrect. Pls help
Thanks
Jibran
Make sure that when you enter your password you are connected to your/a wifi network because I assume you don't have mobile internet on flight mode.
Also, this may sound stupid but make sure you don't have any app or WIDGET that enables/disables fly mode, also long press your power button until the popup and see if flightmode is disable there too.
Last, go into your Phone Information and make sure you have a baseband and an Imei
*#06# on your dialer.
security password to protect your data, assuming you tried to master reset in android,if you didnt make one and have warranty, take it back, because the other process will void your warranty
flash with odin on windows

I'm having the same problem, but i assume that i got it when the phone was updated OTA to 4.0.3 (LPG). I certainly did'nt have the problem beforehand.
It's absolutely useless to try to disable flightmode, both with powerbutton and manually inside settings - the phone never goes out of flightmode, even that it says that flightmode is disabled in settings, and when pressing powerbutton.
My solution though, is to disable flightmode and rebooting the phone. That works, but i don't know if that solves your specific problem. Irritating problem though - it somehow destroys the feeling of a good phone...

[Q] XT1022 Problem with radio after visit in service

Hello
Background:
I bought Moto E on Italian Amazon (stock ROM was retail FR). Because of loudspeaker failure I was forced to send it to the service. I done that in Germany. I never unlock bootloader or install any custom ROM on this phone. Pure stock.
Present:
I got my phone from service, speaker is working again. Unfortunatelly radio is not working any more. Phone is not able even to discover any SIM card (on both slots).
Version installed in service: 21.20.40.condor_retde.retdeall.en.DE retde
What should I do?
Do you think, that this is hardware problem, or just faulty radio driver?
Should I send it back to the service?
Go back to the service center and yell at them!
1st step
Another visit in service is another week with old phone. Because I am travelling a lot recently, I can not afford that at this time. This is my last possibility, I hope I can solve this by myself.
Yesterday I had some time and I discover that, when phone is connected to PC it is recognized as XT1021 (1-sim version). Because of that I flashed using fastboot the stock Kitkat for XT1022. After that, my phone can recognize that I have inside two SIM cards (phone ask for PIN number), but it is not able to turn them on. I see always that the airplane mode is ON, but there is no icon of airplane next to the clock (navigation bar, icons of signal are empty). When I turn the airplane mode on, I see that icons of carrier signal are replaced with icon of airplane. When I turn the airplane mode OFF, I have again signal icons, but they are empty (no signal) and in power menu is written that I am still in airplane mode. So I can not made any call, because radios are turned off.
I think I have faulty drivers of radio/modem. Did anyone except something like this?
