no sound after upgrade & in 2 hours I'm on call: HELP - MDA II, XDA II, 2060 ROM Development

Upgraded to 1.72.00WWE O2.
Added Widcomm for BT file transfer, but would n't set up properly, therefore deinstalled Widcomm again.
Thereafter no more ringtones on my phone. The BT earpeace works and rings, can listen in phone.
Did a hard reset with a new upgrade, with no effect. Tried a upgrade with the radio stack alone without success.
Did a hard reset with a new upgrade to I-mate, but still no sound on my phone. Please help, because in 2 hrs time my duty will start and I have to be on call.

upgrade stops on ppc while it finisshes on PC
After running into trouble with Widcomm stack I did a hard reset and a new upgrade 1.72 > 1.72 of O2.
Now the upgrade finishes on the PC, but on the ppc it hangs in radiomode. Even after waiting a prolonged time it does not finish. Repeating the upgrade with the I-mate version gives the same hang. Who knows how to overcome this problem

I thought it was just me, last night I installed the Widcom BT stack had problems therefore deinstalled it. This morning I was driving to work using TomTom, no voice prompts, thought it was TomTom.
Then at lunch time I tried making a call, no sound whatsever, I though hardware fault... did a hard reset and every thing appears to be OK now.
Haven't tried reflashing it yet
Duncan

Unfortunately I have less luck. Hard reset, renewed upgrading, reinstallation of the Widcomm BT and renewed upgrading all remain without result. THe telephone goes over but no sound, I can pick up the phone but neither hearing nor speaking. Every time I perform a renewed upgrade the device hangs in the radiostack upgrade, it does n't finish, although the desktop indicates the upgrade has finished successfully.
Please, does anyone knows how to solve this problem. Unfortunately I'm very dependent on the device and I'm on call right now.

ActiveSync Problem with XDA2

I have been experiencing some issues when trying to connect and synchronise my XDA2 with my desktop and I was wondering if it was a known issue. Firstly, the XDA2 has had it's ROM updated to 1.60.50.
The problem is when I try to connect to ActiveSync 3.7.1 more often than not, it connects, user authenticates and shortly after disconnects before it even starts synching. The only time I can guarantee it will work is when I re-install ActiveSync 3.7.1 and bond the devices for the first time. Eventually I isolated it down to a problem with the XDA2:
I have two means of synchronising - with the USB cradle and via a bluetooth dongle therefore it is not a case of a faulty cradle. The USB's on my computer are USB 1.1, not the latest USB 2 but I do not see that as an issue.
After a hard reset of the XDA2 and no extra software installed, I still experience the problem so it is not a software issue, which only leaves a problem with the XDA2. There is a possibility that the user authentication fails and that is the reason it disconnects but I would expect an error message telling me so - is this the case?
So in summary, connects when re-install activesync 3.7.1 and will continue to reconnect while the computer is turned on. But after you turn the computer off and restart it, more often than not when you attempt to synchronise, it opens the port, connects, user authenticates and then suddenly stops. The signal bar changes to the connected columns and then back to the normal radio columns.
Have there been any issues like this before?
Activesync XDA II problems - a coincidence ?
I have exactly the same problem. I'm not sure exactly when it started, but I think it was about a week ago.
I've done hard resets on the XDA and tried everything I could think of, but still can't get it working. Up until about a week or so ago it was all working fine and had been for months.
Some of the things I have tried have been :
- hard reset the XDA.
- uninstall activesync 3.71, delete the activesync dir, download a fresh copy and install.
- do the above but using version 3.7
- delete partnership.
- delete the PPC device from Device Manager and start again.
- switch off AV software, firewall etc
- uninstall and re-install Outlook 2000.
- uninstall Outlook and install Outlook 2002
- Tried connecting using IR instead of USB
- Tried BT but the port sets itself up as COM10 which AS cannot see !
- numerous other things that I won't bore you with !
Nothing works. I get a brief glimmer of hope and then it packs up again.
I'm using a Toshiba Satellite Pro with XP Pro and I was at the point where I was about to back up back up my personal files and use the system restore disk on it. I was chatting to a friend this afternoon and mentioned my problem. He told me that there are a number of people in his office, all of them have XDA II's, and all of them have got this exact same problem. All of them had a working and stable Activesync until about a week or so ago and now NONE of them can get connected and have the same problems that you described.
This seems more than a coincidence to me and doesn't sound to me like an XDA problem. Could this be some Microsoft updates / patches that have screwed things up ?
BTW - the XDA seems rather useless when you can't get any software or data in or out of it !

I also had exactly the same problem for me.
I tried everything, nothing worked.
I had to make a hard reset then reinstall manually all the software (backup didn't solve the problem too).
Now, everything is OK,...so far!
ActiveSync problems
I think the difference is that both myself and the guy that started this thread have done hard resets and it still doesn't work.

I think I have found a routine whereby it seems to work (although this could be all nonsense).
Right click on the activesync icon and open it, click on Options, do nothing and close the dialog box (that part probably isn't necessary), now try to sync from the XDA2. Using a bluetooth dongle to sync, this now works everytime (so far)
I thought you had cracked it. It synchronised ok, but then dropped the connection shortly afterwards. It's now back to sitting with the spinning green wheel and the message 'Connecting ...', which never actually connects. The XDA displays a message box saying 'Communications Error', 'Cannot start communications with the desktop computer. Re-connect your device. If the problem persists, see Microsoft Activesync Help'. Which is a fat lot of good !
It's all back to where I started !

MicroSD card disappears randomly

Ever since I upgraded to the new cingular rom and 1.27 radio, I've had great success with the phone, with a few issues.
1) The radio sometimes doesn't respond to 'hang-up'... I've once had to reset the phone to actually disconnect the call!
2) My SD Card will sometimes show no content. When I go to run a program that is installed to the card, it will not run and I get a 'file may not be signed' error. When I load up a file manager, it shows the directory structure of the card, but, not the files. Removing and re-inserting the card fixes everything and I can go on my merry way. Very annoying.
3) The phone will often not turn itself off. When I set the backlight timeout for 1min, and the power-off to 2mins (battery), I will get the backlight to turn off, but the phone itself doesn't turn off... Even stranger, if the device is doing activesync and I manually push the 'power' button, the device will *turn itself back on* within about 1 second.
Also, I had purchased "Ultimate Theft Alert", and for some strange reason it's decided that I'm using a different phone and runs only in non-registered mode. I'm guessing the change of radio threw off the serial # check. Just a warning for those who have the UTAv3.... Upgrading the radio *will* cause you to need to get a new activation code.
Otherwise, very happy with the new radio, and OS. On another note, the new radio shows 'E' for Edge correctly now (instead of a 'G'). I haven't gone to a 3G area yet to know how to works, but, the radio was upgraded after the OS, and with the old radio, I'd get the 'G', as soon as the new radio was installed, I got an 'E'. So, the radio has something to do with the G, E and 3G graphics.

I use UTAv3 and I've changed the radio version a several times without problems....
I have upgraded to the cingular rom and it seem to reformat my sd card, I tried tor recover it.
I have now gone back to the HTC Test rom to see if I get the same issues
Hi
Ive been lurking for a while, about time to have my say! Upgraded to the test rom a couple of days ago and all seems fine. I have experienced the same behavior from my memory card too (1gb sandisk) but a soft reset sorts it. I havent noticed many other differences but everything runs fine, have yet to get things working with my Parrot in car handsfree and gps receiver.
Upgraded last night to the 1.27 radio, so far so good - I am now getting an "H" for hsdpa which is cool. Signal seems about the same as previous (1.18), waiting to see about battery life.
Thanks to all the "experts" that gave me the confidence to do the upgrade via the 1.01 bootloader and saved me from ending up with my radio rom stuck with 1.08!
I just love playing with this thing!

HTC rose keeps crashing

Hi..
i used the search but could not find anything..
I am having some issues with eh phone..
it freezes up when even i want to use it..
i can use it for a few minutes and then freezes up.
everything goes really slow or just doesn't react.
i didn't open anything special
just tried a hard reset..
only added google maps but didn't open it.
have exchange and hotmail syncing.
that's it..
soft reset helps for a few minutes and then it crashes again..
i really have no clue why this happens..
does anybody have a suggestion that i could try?
Thxn!
Well, could be simply a hardware problem (either a faulty one or f.i. a loose connection after dropping it).
Do you use your S740 only since a short while (new device) or have these problems started after a while ?
I use it now for a year and 4 months (actually with quite a few apps installed) and it's incredibly stable.
Sometimes it gets a bit slow, and then I do a soft reset.
But thats maybe bi-weekly.
I suspect that using McGuider navigation software alongside other apps (like Opera mini/java and Audio Notes and always bluetooth on) is the cause most of the time.
Only with SmartToolkit I had some structural problems of freezing.
There's one thing you can try:
I did read in some cases with people with serious problems, who needed a hard-reset, that only after a few hard resets their S740 again worked as new.
So try a few more hard-resets.
good luck

Hope that works...
Thanks so far!
Hy
I had the same problems after Hard Reset.I fixed it by Loading the akku to 100%,Switching off the phone,Removing the akku,Removing the SIM,Removing the StorageCard,Insert the Akku,Hold Down the Volume down button+the button in the middle of the cursor und short press on the power button and folow the text on the screen!Let the phone finish all and let it reboot and let it install all the original stuff! After a few reboots and when the phone seams to be finished you can install the Sim and start the phone again, let it install all the provider stuff, when its finished you can install the Storage....if you let the sim and the storage in the phone and make a reset something wents wrong at installing!

[Q] How to stop HD2 Connecting to TMobile Server

Hi
I have an unlocked UK Leo that has the tmobile software on it which I used on the O2 network (phone only; no internet).
Its just over a year old and has started trying to connect to tmobile on the internet. It tries about once or twice /hr to connect. Sometimes, if I haven't used the phone for a few hours, I'll have to cancel several of these attempts to connect. Worst of all, if there are several cancels waiting and the phone rings, the HD2 locks up and I cannot answer the call. Removing the battery seems the only way to get the phone to work again.
I could flash a standard ROM but HTC tell me that will invalidate the warranty (and its already been back for repair once)
So is there some other way I can stop these attempts to connect to tmobile?
(I cannot find anywhere to remove the tmobile connection and it is not listed in connections)
If there's nothing in 'connection' settings, then it has nothing to connect too.
I can't quite remember the way to go there, but in connection settings, there is an option saying 'edit my connections'.
Tap and hold the connection and choose 'delete'
In the other screen there's the same connection name again, but with the option 'delete settings'.
That should do it.
I don't have my phone with me unfortunately (I wasn't running WM 6.5. anyway anymore ), but this should be some sort of the way to go there
Its probably because something is set to auto update every few hours.
Peep/email/weather/facebook/3rd party app etc etc..........
Make sure everything that can update is disabled.
If you dont use the phone for data then you could use something like "touch tools" or a similar app to disable the data connection.
As you said, you coukd flash a new rom, you can always flash back to stock if you need to send it in for repair.
HSPL it and flash the 1.66WWE ROM (or any custom ROM you like) - That'll get rid of the T-Mobile UK guff. Install NoData - which can stop all phone line data connections, but leave WiFi still operational.
I think the problem of random phone data connections is to do ActiveSync, on the phone, starting up. The only thing I noticed that it stopped after the 'clock going forward' problem's soloution of stopping the automatic Time Synchronisation. Once I downloaded HTC's solution and restarted the Time Synchronisation, the clock problem was gone but ActiveSync randomly started up again. So I stopped the Time Synchronisation. ActiveSync will start up when I connect to a PC, whether to sync with the PC or use as a DiskDrive.
I don't use ActiveSync on the phone to check for mail updates, as I have set my phone up to do that for myself.
KrewsialNL: There is nothing in Start->Settings->Connections->Connections->manage existing connections. Sadly it does not stop it trying to connect to t-mobile server. That is the problem
conantroutman: Possibly. However, when it is trying to connect, Task manager shows only activesync running.
fred-up: Flashing a standard ROM is fine; flashing the original RoM if the phone is broken could be tricky depending on the break!!! And how do I get to keep a copy of the original ROM?
It seems when it happens that connection manager and active sync are (generally) running running but what started them off. AFAIK, all updating applications are switched off. Ive noticed a few times 'Direct Push' is busy switching itself off (green to grey) but have no idea what switched it on. I dont use Outlook and all data services are switched off.
Any ideas what might be triggering this or it is an evil TMobile plot?
You don't need to keep a copy of the origional ROM as you can download it from HTC's website using the phone's serial number.
If you flash it via the SD Card method, then the HSPL will be removed. You could also flash it via the PC and then run HSPL2 and select the SPL version for the ROM you download (1.66.0000 for the T-MoUK 1.72 ROM).
I can't tell you if it is a T-MoUK evil plot because My T-MoUK HD2 lasted a week before I flashed it to the 1.66 WWE ROM (after flashing HSPL). T-MoUK took another couple of months to bring out their version of the 1.66 ROM (1.72).
Have you got any Live services installed (MSN or Hotmail) as these use the Direct Push?
Not AFAIK.
It was all fine until (roughly) its first birthday and then this problem. I have not installed anything for ages so I am confused.
HTC escalated this over 2 weeks ago and I have, as usual, heard nothing.
I think its probably ROM flashing time.

[Q] Bluetooth problem / parror MKi9200

Hi
I have a parrot handsfree MKi9200 installed and it's been working fine. But since 3 latest updates on my S II, it's been acting odd. I'm now at version 4.0.4.
Problem is when connecting to the parrot it's ´stuck for some 20-25 seconds. When it's done doing whatever it's doing i get a message on the phone in a grey boks. It's in danish, but it's something about bluetooth has stopped syncronization. I have to press OK on the phone to get grey boks to dissappear. This also happens if i call someone and obviosly at some point hang up, then i get that odd message again and phone is stuck until it has done "something". On the display of the parrot device, i see the symbol for sync running while it's going on.
Is it some Bluetooth setting i need to tick somewhere that has been enabled within last 3 Android updates?
Cheers
Rathsach
It maybe that the parrot bluetooth software needs updating. Check your manual to see how to updae the software.
Bluetooth updates on the phone download newer versions of the sofftware which may not be compatible with the version of the parrot.
