Because I use my MDAII with a dual sim adapter (King of double card type MAI-E, search eBay) I would like to know for sure which SIM is active at any moment.
When I am in my home country the Operator name show does the job, but when roaming that is not reliable anymore.
 I would like to see some kind of (customisable?) string in the Phone application instead of the (roaming) Operator name that identifies the active SIM instead of the current operator..
What could be used is the first number that is stored in the SIM under "Own Numbers".
Does this exist :?:
Could it be built :?:

Today i unlock my JasJam from my provider (Cellcom), thay give me the unlock cod.
I put Orange Sim but when i try to conect to the internet it say cant conect on roaming
Anyone know why???
Your phone knows why, it said "can not connect on roaming"
You inserted a sim card of a different provider but did not change the settings (access point). Now you are trying to access the Cellcomm Net with an Orange Sim Card so you are roaming.
BTW: Last week I was in Lithuania for some days, more or less out of curiosity I tried to check my emails with my Austrian Sim Card inserted - it worked without any problems. GPRS Data Connection via roaming, I think this will be expensive
I change the internet setting with a new access point/
but its still say "There is a problem connecting to the GPRS service in the roaming netwark you are in"
i am in the same country
Yes you are in the same country but obviously you are roaming with another network. Roaming means that you are using another network, different to your sim card.
Please check "Settings/Phone/Network", in the top you can find your current network. If its not Orange, switch "Network selection" to "manual", search for networks and set it to Orange. If its Orange ask their support for the detailed GPRS settings or have a look at their website for a *.cab file with all the settings.
I have a Chinese SIM card (China Unicom). If I try to "add a contact" or also change the contact settings, it takes a lot of time (+5 seconds) for the screen to show up. That's very annoying and it does not happen with my German or Belgian SIM cards.
Any ideas? I've already set "save contacts" to "to phone" instead of to SIM, so I wonder why it's trying to access my SIM and do funny things?
did u try another sim card from same company??
Hm no, I'm a bit reluctant to try and tell them. My Chinese is pretty much non existent and so is their English. I'll see if I can find a friend with a China Unicom SIM and use his.
so back again
recently had a post about my galaxy s2 ( http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1502801 ) having network connection problems
so since the galaxy was bought second hand, i unblocked it with helroz application. The point is - it doesn't recognize my sim card in the country where i am now (Orange - France -only emergency calls), but accpets my foreign sim card (Roaming of course - but connected to one of the operators (SFR)).
Does this suppose to mean it's barred?
Does not accept a sim card
Sim Card faulty
Sim Card blocked .
And what do you mean by not accept have you set the Orange network connections ??
jje
both 2 cards work perfectly on other phones, so i don't think it's sim card problem
for each card the gsm ask for pin code - correctly input
but only for the orange card shows - emergency calls only
by settings you mean the APN?
aren't they supposed to be automatic when you insert the sim?

Click to collapse
Nope, sometime you need to configure yourself, send message by you network operator or manual install, just give them a call
APN are fine
they were correct, deleted anyway and input again, same situation....
other suggestions?
still don't get if phone is barred why is my foreign sim card working since it uses the roaming netowrk?
I have posted before about how my Springboard won't connect to WIND Mobile, but it will connect on my PC Mobile SIM. According to the FCC it has the frequencies compatible for both networks.
But here's an interesting twist: I inserted an old deactivated WIND SIM, and noticed that in the About Tablet > Status screen it correctly listed under MDN the phone number attached to that SIM. I then opened Shazam which has an option to write a help e-mail that includes my IMEI and IMSI, and I noted that it listed the IMSI of the SIM card correctly as well.
Then I inserted my current, active WIND SIM, and tried the same. No phone number, and blank IMSI. My active WIND SIM works just fine in my Galaxy Nexus and Nexus One though.
So I keep testing... It happens that for the purpose of diagnostics I keep all my old SIMs around. So my old deactivated Fido SIM? Check, it sees the old phone # and IMSI just fine.
An old Bell SIM that I used to have on a tablet plan? MDN unknown, IMSI blank.
A currently active T-Mobile SIM that has a phone plan on it? MDN unknown, IMSI blank.
An inactive AT&T SIM I used to use for GoPhone? MDN is the correct phone number, IMSI correct.
An old Mobilicity SIM I used for two weeks before it was deactivated? MDN unknown, but IMSI correct. (Mobilicity had an issue at the time where active SIMs did not always have phone numbers properly stored on them, so this is consistent.)
What's the pattern? Well, I lined them up in the attached photo against the backdrop of my lovely new Nexus 7 3G. If the Springboard could read the IMSI, I put the SIM in the top row. If not, I put it in the bottom row. (The one second from the top right is the PC SIM that I cut down to micro and it's back in its original shell for the photo).
Are you seeing what I'm seeing? The five SIMs it can read appear to have four different types of contacts, but the three SIMs it can't read all have exactly the same type of contacts. Have you experienced anything like this, where a certain SIM just won't be recognized by your MediaPad or Springboard?
I recently bought a Huawei Y550 in the UK and returned to Japan (where I live)
In Japan I can connect to local networks (Docomo 4G) using my UK EE SIM card but when I insert my Japanese (AU-KDDI) SIM card it won't connect to a network - selecting the KDDI 4G network gives the error 'can't connect to the network at this time. Please try again later' (or something like that). I get the same error when using the various APNs available.
When the phone lists the networks with my UK SIM inserted, Docomo has a 'tick' next to it and the other networks have a 'plus' symbol next to them. When I insert my Japanese SIM, KDDI has a 'plus' symbol next to it while all the others have 'no access' symbols next to them. (Image attached since I can't insert links as a new member.)
I was under the impression that if my phone was SIM locked I would be asked for a code when the Japanese SIM is inserted but I have full function of the phone (all apps, wifi etc) with that SIM inserted; I just don't have a mobile network connection.
Not sure if it makes any difference but this phone is bootloader unlocked and rooted. The problems were the same before and after rooting.
Is my phone SIM/network locked? Or is there some other reason that it's not connecting to the local network?
Thanks!
