hey guys, i´m new with my i-mate jasjam that i picked up with telstra and i have some questions that probably will sound very stupid, but i wonder if anyone can enlighten me
1) i hate the telstra screen when i turn on the phone, i hate the telstra menus, i hate every single little trace of telstra in my phone. the hard reset wont remove these i figure. is there anyway all this can be removed by upgrading the windows mobile version (i use wm 5 os 5.1.195). maybe install windows mobile 6. the thing is, i want my mobile clean, fresh start, no telstra stuff on it. is it possible? im not in australia anymore (im in back home in brazil) and its getting on my nerves these pre installed telstra crap!
2) tried to download skype for my jasjam and it doesnt install (maybe is some telstra lock or something? is this the CID lock?

just successfully run the unlocking tool, but want to update windows, and ge rid of the o2 crap.

To get rid of the O2 software you need to do a hard reset, which will wipe everything you have installed so make sure it is all backed up first, and then when it restarts and says "Applying customisation in 3 secs" or something similar you need to soft reset.
Alternatively just flash it with a completely new ROM and upgrade to WM5 or WM6. Just make sure you have a Himalaya, XDA II, and not an Alpine, XDA IIi, as despite looking very similar they are competely different internally.
If you want to remove the physical o2 logo's on your device i have a great tip (my device was orange by default).
If you want to remove the logo's printed on the device, use a sugar cube and rub over the logo with it. it will look as if you are scratching the device but you aren't. Afterwards, cleen it with a wet tissue and voila. it's removed and the silver shine is still intact.
I did this a while ago, i think there are some tutorials about it online too.
Problem there as the O2 ones are more than just a transfer/sticker, they are a physical embossing on the case. Removal is damn near impossible without wrecking the case.
i know im sure its bricked. i have flashed several g3s and g4s wizards but this time thinking that i knew what i was doing i flashed a g3 ROM to a g4 wizard.
is there any way to bring it back from the death?
i feel really stupid and sorry because its not my phone.
no ligths the power botton does not work, can't get it into bootloader mode, removeing the bateery does not help....

No, Jtags is still not a solution. There is nothing can do for a bricked Wizard.

1 thing is that I hve tried every possible tactic from the book before writing this read every site on google related to unbricking and trying to learn everything about replacements. everything points to hopless options.
If IPhone can unbrick itself i'm sure we can get this working Duh !
However everytime I remove and insert rapidly the battrey, i can see the screen flashing and the red light blicks along with it.
I cant seem to get it stabalized to get into the boot menu...
I'm willing to donate the phone to find jtag however i'd like to learn it myself any tips on how to find the jtag points ?

When you say Bricked, I know that the only option left is to replace the motherboard, however what i'd like to know is, Can some1 please explain wht does it exactly mean when people say Bricked ?, which part of the board is not working so that I can get the Chips replaced. Can we take this as an option, yes ?

You can bring a bricked G4 back to life..sort of. Go to eBay and find a working Wizard with broken screen or cracked up case or something so it's cheap. Take the motherboard out of that one and replace the one in your phone and you're back in business! I did it with my last bricked G4 and got a bonus when I discovered the used phone I bought was a G3 (practically un-brickable!..until I broke the LCD!)
Greetings to all from a noob... I bring you questions about my first smartphone - a Docomo NTT branded Fujitsu F12C (it can dive underwater!) running Android 2.3.4...
Now... it is full of Japanese language apps and generally the menus themselves are... I'll stop short of calling it "broken english" (because it's not that bad, but still slightly strange). Also, the keyboard input is cluttered with Japanese input keys and options.
I tried uninstalling a lot of the apps but half of them remain regardless.
So my question is - how do I clean up this phone? Is it called debranding? I've read about debranding and flashing ROMs a bit... but I concluded that I need to find this 'ROM' for my particular phone... something I've been unable to do... Is there anyway to simply install a generic Android OS onto it and start from there? I don't really care about voiding warranty (the phone is made in Japan which is a warranty in itself) but I do not want to risk destroying the phone at the same time (it cost too much).
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I never heard of this phone until now. I googled it and was WOW by how awesome it looks and all the features. ANYWAYS, the only way I think you could possibly get rid of all the Japanese menus and stuff like that is to possibly try to do a factory reset to where it prompts you for the setup and select English as your language and re-enter all your google account information and such......GOOD LUCK bro as I also found that there is little information on rooting this sucker let alone having custom roms for it.

It is a really nice phone indeed. But I tried the factory reset... It only deletes any data I input beforehand...
I guess I just have to wait for it to become more popular?
hello, my friend, do you know how to do a hard reste on this phone, a forgot the patern lock and a c'ant use the phone
So, my dad dropped his phone, cracked the screen. Only way to repair it was to send it back to Japan. Instead of repairing it, they sent back a brand new phone. A locked new phone. Wouldn't give me the sim unlock code so had to send it back again. Finally came back still locked!
Does anyone know anywhere to get the unlock code? Just sad throwing away $700...
Only Docomo shop unlock this phone and do not give unlock code, if you want unlock you have to bring to Docomo shop.

Flashing multiple times are harmful for any ROM.
Anyways, just download the original winmo from HTC site for your mobile.
Go to the tri color screen (switch off your mobile then pressing power button and repeatedly pressing volume up/down buttons will make your mobile enter tri color screen), and connect your mobile to PC . USB will be shown in your mobile once connected.(I hope you have necessary drivers installed...if not install windows mobile device centre.)
And flash the ROM. N be patient....it may take some time..10..15mins. Just wait.
Once you have installed stock ROM , you can switch to another. But read flashing instructions properly then install custom ROM.

He flashed a non tmous rom to a tmous phone, , , , dead phone.
Although I couldn't help noticing that that rom claims to have a 2.10.50 radio which in theory shouldn't brick a tmous, however it will be about the only non tmous stock rom that WOULDN'T brick a tmous.

Man, what are you trying to do?!!
Are you flashing the stock WinMo ROM? Without entering the tricolor screen!! Seriously!!
Just do the following steps:
1) Download original factory (stock) ROM from HTC website for your mobile.
2) Install WMDC(windows mobile device centre) in your PC.
3) In Mobile, enter tricolor screen,
Method:
Start the phone by pressing the vol down and power buttons together.
4) and when the tricolor bootloader appears connect your mobile to PC and flash the winmo ROM.

ok, now i'm a little confused exactly what position your phone is in.
1 I THINK what you mean is that the flash failed, and the phone now does nothing, nothing at all, screen stays black, no lights, nothing, is that right? (Because that's what i would expect from flashing a non tmous rom onto a tmous phone)
2 however, you could also mean that it starts, but wont do anything, and you cant enter bootloader, , because this is also a fairly common fault (ignore sonalikagaur shouting ''just put it in bootloader'', he obviously doesn't know that there are loads of faults that include not being able to get into bootloader)
Problem is, in both of those situations, there is very little you can do, so ill point a few things to read up on for the different faults.
For case 1, there isn't anything you can do except JTAG it.
For 2, from the various pieces, no bootloader, flash failing at 50% (are you sure it didn't stop at 8% - 10%?), I think it points to a hardware fault, in which case you can possibly try the freezer trick, and there are some threads that talk about not being able to get into bootloader using voldown and power, perhaps they would be worth reading.
however i suspect its deeper than that. If all else fails, there's a thread that talks about heating the mainboard to help the solder joints from the processor to the mainboard reattach, but that's pretty full on stuff, and only to be tried if you don't mind a truly dead phone.
Again, a JTAG may fix it, but then it may not too, and unless you find someone local with teh equipment, its as expensive as a new hd2.
You can sell them for parts for a reasonable amount. Especially the screens.

So samsamual, if its as dead as a doornail, a person shd head straight for a jtag? My boet had 1 which inspired me, and 2years later i managed to get 1, only to enjoy for about a week before i asked my brother to droid mine like he had done his back then. I dnt knw what he was thinking but, number 1 he didnt use winmo device centre, i didnt actually pay attention to what n how he tried flashing, but within the hour i then had myself a rather lovely ornamental piece, yeah, a totally dead bricked HD2, even just laying there deadly n all, i have to say 'what a beautiful phone!' Really, i was heartbroken nonetheless... anyway without a decent telephonic device, my boet had a s2 galaxy and bb 9500 storm which i claimed before he left. A few days later i browsed web for swaps, and amazingly i found a fellow looking for two bbs for an brand new s3, his reasoning that the i9300 is a data pig, it is depending how you set it up. Anyway, two days ago i got me another hd2, bt it also has a frickin problem, it wnt pick up a signal, no service, although yesterday i used whole day on cell c network here in cpt sa, when i changed for a fresh battery (still have my dead spare brick, hence extra battery), then it wdnt pick up a sgnal again, i changed once using my daughters sim, which is the same network, just a newer sim card. It is the same size as the micro sim as far as copper plates on a sim are concerned that i can tell when comparing to my micro sim in my galaxy, my hd2 sim cards' copper plating wd hide my daughters same sized sim card completely. So my q is if her card worked with less plated sim, shd i maybe upgrade my sim card, but... i had a virgin sim in it aswell, worked fine, bt then i wanted my old sim id used the whole day, back in phone, and since yesterday evening up till writing this now this am, i havent bn able to get a signal except when i checked my daugters sim, it worked, took it out, pt mine back, wdnt pick up service, put my kids 1 in again and then it also wdnt pick up again, till nw... nothing? Nw im only sumising but my next q is cd there maybe be damage to the pins that make contact from the phone to the sim? Or cd the phone possibly be blocked And is there gna be a way to check the sim pins without having to disassemble the whole phone. Its nt a major issue though, i cn still connect to the internet via wireless net and do my whatevers there with regard to that, for me its a great phone for anyone into the pc trade, eg, remote desktop pc control, etc etc. So ok, nw... is there a place i cn go to discover jtagn my dead hd2, id like more info, so id probly find in the hd2 forum on xda. I also nd to ask what rom wd i flash if im in south africa, because i knw tmous for us only. And im using cell c in sa, but it gives a long list of operators i cn chose frm if i want, theres even 4 for my country that i cn chose from. Bt cd be many reasons aswel like you sd, i wdnt mind getn other hd2 up n running, and ptn android on both, wel hope I get the 1 andy gn. Iv sum reading to do for this forum. definitely get a new sim, back in 2009 a fair number of epople had to get new sims for the dh2.
