I have just upgraded from 1.60 to 1.72.00WWE. I have done a restore of my old backup, but cannot install the app suite. The exe file runs, but the XDAII says thet the ROM is not the correct version!! so doesn't install.
On looking at the device information it says
ROM version: 1.72.00WWE
ROM Date: 03/15/04
Radio Version: 1.17.00
Protocol version: 1337.28
ExtROM version: 1.60.50
I am concerned about that last entry as I was expecting 1.72.187 (I don't have the BlackBerry.
Any help or advice on what needs to be done would be greatfully appreciated.
Thanks
probably your restore has overwritten the registry
Thanks. I re installed ROM and apps installed ok.
This just means I now have to install all my apps, set up ms reader, and other apps. Looks like I am going to be up all night
Does anyone have a better way of upgrading the ROM and restoring all apps from backup?
Regards
Hi folks,
I pretty much have the same setup except the ExtROM being 1.72.181, i.e. with blackberry. When I try to install the applications from the applications suite I get a strange error saying, please check you ROM, upgrade and try again.
I am surprised since this is supposedly the latest ROM available. (1.72.00WWE)
Any help will be greatly appreciated.
Cheers!
Lakshman
Did you do a restore after upgrading? This seems to update the ExtRom to your old version and therefore stopping the app suite to load. I am now only just getting my xda back to normal with all the apps I had installed (must organize myself better and put them in one place :x)
Regards
flintanis,
I re-installed all the apps afresh. In spite of this I am not able to install the applications in the suite. :-(
Cheers!

lakshman_mn what ROM versions does your Device Information give? If the ExtRom is not 1.72.181 (or .187) then the app suite wont install.
There is another thread where DCS suggests updating the ExtRom version in the registry, but not sure if that works and also putting the actual apps suite cab in the ExtROM and executing them from there.

i upgraded my XdaII WM2003 to WM2003SE...ExtRom Version: appear empty and lost camera, acrobat reader, photo viewer and etc....??? why?? i need helper
Youhave to install Ext ROM for WM2003SE too.
Camera will work only when you install Camera---.cab that isin Ext ROM.
So you have to search for Ext ROM.
I recommend the one in Sin merged ROM.
Use search for "Sin merged ROM". It will need time to read but I guarantee that you will satisfy with it.
If you still hav any problem, you can post itand I will comeback to see your problems.

I upgraded my XDA II to WM5 using the rom on buzzdev (WM2k5_1.60c.00WWE) and used the tool to resize my storage memory to 30MB ish. (Hima_DOC_Tool_1.0)
I decided WM5 was not for me so u downgraded to WM2003SE and after I installed the WM2003SE rom i have no camera software installed. (And it seems like i have no EXTROM)
Is the cause of this not resizing the storage memory back to the default settings before downgrading to WM2003SE or do i need to install an EXTROM onto my XDAII?
I tried o2's final rom and the o2 active stuff doesn't install after the upgrade either.
Any ideas?
Thanks for reading.
Yes, I have used the search trying to answer this question. Before I upgraded to DCD 2.2.6 ROM, I was able to hide/unhide the ExtROM in the EXT_FLASHDRV registry entry. Now, after installing 2.2.6, the EXT_FLASHDRV key is not present. I have tried adding it with no luck. So is it possible to unhide the ExtROM after installing 2.2.6 or do I need to go back to the stock ROM, unhide, then reinstall 2.2.6?
I do not think rolling back to the stock rom, unhiding and then flashing Dcd's 2.2.6 rom again will keep the extrom unhidden. The rom currently flashed will install in it's originally fabricated state.
Unfortunately with this in mind, I do not have a answer for unlocking Dcd's rom if you have already tried with no success the registry edit. Maybe Dcd will release a version that implements the same extrom unlocker like no2chem's nueExtRom which is available on build 5047...

physically, the partition is still there but the driver is not loaded and the device will not see the extrom at all. what do you need it for?
i don't know if it is in there, and some people will probable think i'm crazy (which isn't too far from the truth), but i was wanting to get the sprint yellow today color scheme. just got used to it and personally like it better than the ones availabe.
install htcustom 1.8...go to the last tab on the program and u should see unhide ext rom or something similar...select that and click save...u might get error...just quit...soft reset using a program not the hole on bottom...and u should see ext rom
With advanced configuration, I believe you can both unhide the ext rom, and unlock it, allowing you to clear the contents.
Hi,
I have a HTC X7500 it's opretty much as it was out of the box and has the following OS installed, the device is HTC branded and was purchased as a vanilla device without a contract.
Windows Mobile 6.0 Professional
CE OS 5.2.1238 (Build 17745.0.2.3)
I'm looking at options to update the devices software, is this build fine for everyday use or will I get any great brenefits from upgrading to a newer cooked ROM?
Just looking for some advice.
Cheers
GD
Just from personal experience, upgrading to AP4 and radio 1.58 opened a whole new world of functionality. Radio 1.58 alone was invaluable since it just about doubled my 3G/H data transfer (and I think enabled voice and data at the same time, not sure if this was a network change or from my upgrade, I just know it couldn't do it on my stock ROM). AP4 had a bunch of stuff I would have had to track down and install individually, such as RealVGA, VNC, a good phone skin, upgraded MS Office applications, etc.
On the downside, I now wish AP4 did not have Flash or Opera built-in, because it causes conflicts and won't allow Flash to work on newer Opera builds. I could try one of the OS installer editors and remove them, but I haven't.
Good Morning everybody,
Yesterday i installed the darkstone android Froyo on my HTC HD2, it worked pretty fine.
I reboot the phone to finish the installation and everything was normal. I download apps on the market ... all's good.
But i realize taht i've got no ringstone, i plug the phone on the computer and put the "media file" in the SD card.
I reboot the mobile and try to launch CLRCAD and HARET but i got the followinf message "The file XXX cannot be opened. Either it is not signed with a trusted certificate or one of its components cannot be found"
I tried :
to format my SD,
to put a new install of android,
to reboot my phone,
to read different thread about this problem,
to test different program like Security configuration manager ...
I think that the problem doesn't come from Android build (it worked 2 times before) but win mobile ?
Here's my conf :
2.08 HDSPL
radio 2.12.50.02_2
darkstone froyo 2.1
rom 1.66 483 0 (76641) FRE (Bouygues telecom)
I don't understand what i did it wrong, it pretty worked and after 2 reboots i can't launch android.
Please can someone help me ?
Thanks in advance for your reply
Mike
Same issue
Hi,
I'm having this same issue. I hope someone can help. It doesn't seem to be an issue with the SD card. Did somehow the registry got corrupted? Please help.
Registry restore did not fix issue

To test my theory that it was a registry issue, I restored the registry that I backed up before installing Android. It DID NOT fix the issue.
What does that mean? It seems that everything that comes with the WM ROM works fine. It only effects the applications that were installed and not OEM.

I've now deleted my Android folder and the .folder and will see if that helps. I don't believe it will because I've removed the SD card and the programs I installed on the ROM still did not work. I'm hoping I don't need to do a hard reset. That would be a pain.
That only thing I did before having this issue was that I installed several games from the Android market place; final fantasy 6, angry birds, and a couple of others.
Had the exact same problem running FroyoStone Sense - V3.1. Couldn't even install SDKcerts. Tried everything & the only solution was a hard reset.
