Hey guys, ive been reading many threads regarding issues with the sx56, but after going through most of them, it seems ive been left with more questions. Anyway, my problem is , first of all the reception sucks, signals drop every now and then and i hate saying "sorry? ur breaking up" now from what ive learnt so far from most of the posts is that this "signal" issue is due to the radio stack. My siemens sx56 is running:
Windows Mobile Pocket PC 2003
Model No.: PW10B1
ROM version : A.30.09.ENG
ROM date : 01/01/04
Radio Version : A.33.02
Protocol Version : 1.3.3
now, i have been thinking that maybe i should try downgrading the radio stack while still using ppc2003 , but ive seen many posts in which people have bricked their phones due to downgrade.
Another thing is i forgot what was the default radio version before the ppc2003 upgrade (as i think the signal strength was somewhat better prior to this upgrade) So just to be on the safe side, could any of you recommend me which radio stacks i can use? the ones i see on LumpiStefans site are:
RSU Version 3.23
RSU Version 4.16
RSU Version 4.21
RSU Version A20.10
RSU Version 6.24.20
RSU Version 6.25.02
from what i have figured the A20.10 might be the one which was originally installed in the phone when it came with ppc2002 just a guess since there are no other versions above which has an A in the start. But would downgrading kill my phone?
Now the next problem is the volume problem, that INCREASING ring is quite stupid, ive tried disabling the PDA volume and let the phone volume on full, the increasing ring problem goes away but it raises another problem of JUST ONE RING thats it, it just doesnt keep on ringing, just rings once and then goes silent. Do tell me if this is also a radio stack problem or is there any solution for it.
And yeah , finally, is windows mobile 5.0 any good? is it better than the windows mobile pocket pc 2003? and will it work on the sx56? in fact, are there any other OS besides ppc2002-ppc2003 which would work on sx56?
Thanks.

The A20.10 and the 6.xx Version should work on your phone, cause it's a PW10B-Model....
Flashing of Radio Stack is everytime little bit danderous like all flashing.
If the process doing fine, there should be no problem. I would do removing the sim and doing a hardreset before flashing the radiostack....

This is an issue of the A30.0x ROMs. If you're going to use the 4.01.12 then there won't be the increasing sound problem.....

There is no WM 5.0 available for the Wallaby devices. Newest, but in my eyes really buggy ROM Version is WM2003 Second Edition....
Only othe rOS running on the Wallaby is Linux, but until now it's not running as complete, as you can use your phone and all the other functions....
Stefan
thank u for the reply stefan! just a few more quick questions:
1. How do i soft/hard reset? iam sorry iam new to pocket pc's.
2. The ROM u mentioned ,4.01.12, does it have any bugs i should be aware of?
3.Which radio stack do you think is better? the 6.xx or A20.10?
4.How do i install the radio stack and the rom? i downloaded the radio stack ZIP file and the rom is being downloaded. The radio stack zip file has no WIN32 executable file. Do i need to copy it over the phone ? how?
5. Should i install the rom first or the radio stack?
Thanks.
1. Softreset is pushing your stylus once in the little hole on the left side at the bottom.
For Hardreset you have to unscrew your stylus and push twice in the very little hole on the right side at the bottom.
2. The 4.01.12 has like all other WM2003 for the Wallaby the problem that under certain circumstands the sd-card will be formatted. I have used WM2003 for about 2 weeks and had this problem once.
3. Don't know which one is better. Never used one of them cause i have a PW10A-Model
4. You have to put the files in one folder on your SX56 and run the exe directly on the device. Pay Attention to have enough power....
5. It depends on you.....
Stefan
ok this is weird... i upgraded my rom to 4.01.12, after the O2 Screen, normal setup procedure comes.. the thing which bothered me was when i clicked on DEVICE INFORMATION..it is now showing model PW10A-MODEL whereas its a PW10B model, says so on the sticker, and the radio stack is still A.33.02 :S
its working though signal problems are still there... i tried the A20.10 and 6.xxx radio stack versions but they dont wanna upgrade , they give messages like "upgrade failed or retry". Should i try other RSU versions like 4.21??
or maybe i need to try that sd-bootloader method? if so, how?
ok you can ignore my previous post about radio stack, i guess i found the solution.
Radio stack upgrade only works if you copy the 4 files of any radio stack archive to the WINDOWS ROOT FOLDER OF YOUR WALLABY DEVICE!
copying to a seprate folder or anywhere else results in 1% hangup or upgrade failed messages. IT ONLY WORKS WHEN YOU COPY THE FILES TO THE WINDOWS ROOT FOLDER OF THE DEVICE . I just upgraded the radio stack to 6.24.00, lets see if it solves my the problem of bad and breaking up signals.
I still havent found out why my wallaby shows PW10A though

This depends on the ROM used. PW10A is static in the ROM. If you want it, I'm sure I can make a ROM where it's Type is PW10F .....
Stefan
its the \WINDOWS folder.
And the ROM i used was 4.01.12.
By the way, that 6.24.00 RSU kicks butt! havent came across any signal problems at all. Thanks a lot stefan! this forum rules!
and do let me know about this model version problem, do i need to install any other ROM which will display the correct model version i.e PW10B ??
Got fustrated
I hat the 4.01.16 ROm with 6.02 RSU, I've tryed to upgrade to 6.25.02, copy all files to Windows and the Upgrade to startup, but I kept at 1%, do a reset and after 10 minutes I got an error, now my phone is off, I cannot turned on, in settings I still had version 6.02 of RSU, If I use the Phone icon in Control Panel it says the fhone is off, turn it on and try again and there's the wait icon in the windows.
How can I restore my settings?, perhaps I tryied to updagre with poor storage space, the MS Voice Command eated allmost all RAM and I had to increase it, also I left the SIM while upgrading, any help will be wellcome.

please let me know if you find the solution...I have the same problem
Thanks
Yes
Yes, The solution was to put all files on the windows folder and execute the update program from that location, the procedure continues to 100%, and then, I think it reset my machinne, and when it boot again I got the new RSU installed and the phone was able to turn on again, automatically.
Good Luck

I have PW10B1 model and I load the XDA-Developers ROM Version 1.1 but I still have problems with RSU..I tried almost all RSU from ftp://ftp.xda-developers.com/Wallaby/ but no succees...
if you have the same model maybe you can send me by email your RSU version...please!
my email is [email protected]oo.com
I have 6.25.02
I'm using the 6.25.02 version, the very same files that had failed with then 1% problem, the trick was no to put anything in the starup folder, do not soft reset before the procedure.
Simply navigate to your Windows folder with any file explorer and execute the update program. Give it time to finish, ensure that the procedure reach 100%.

I just did this but when I'm starting at 1% the status bar is disappearing and it seems that is doing nothing...is this normal?
Did you had the status bar until 100%?
Perhaps you have a wrong ROM for that RSU
Remember that you must have the rigth ROM for a given RSU, all Win2003 require RSU version 6.x, if you hace downgraded the ROM you'll need an older RSU.
Sorry
Yes, I saw my status bar reach 10%, 20% and so on, ultil it reach 100%

editing the wiki now....
Language is english (WWE), it has bootloader 1.06 which will prevent you to flash any other rom unless you have one matching your CID.
Radio version is 1.20.31.10 which seems newer than any other rom.
Still missing information about OS build / AKU, rom date, and protocol... first person flashing it please update the wiki
ROM flashed, WiKi updated.

Can the radio version be extracted and uploaded? Would be nice!!
English language, ugly i-mate telstra bootscreen, nothing overly exciting in build to report - still AKU 2.3.
P
i was hoping aku 3.0. i guess i'll just stay with cingular v1.31 with aku 2.6
Now all we need is for someone to crack the HTTupgrade exe so those of us on the cingular ROM with no official carrier ROM to downgrade to can upgrade to this one!

so i can update with this rom but after i can update only with the rom that have my CID?
thx
With the upgrade in radio, do you think my JasJam could see an increase in battery life considering the 1.16 radio absolutely destroyed my battery life?
Its looks like all the new roms are going to be 1.06, I would like to upgrade to this, but as I don't have a way back to 1.04 I will not risk it, as I don't have an original rom to go back to.
I hope we can find a solution for the CID in the near future to help.

This rom looks the same as the one I got with my Jasjam off Telstra ( hence the boot up screen) and its dated in my device 09/08/06 this is most likely american date format.
So the rom is old
i think this rom is for Telstra users only here in australia so its no different from the original rom from imate.....it only has a few extra operator settings under Telstra provider......Telstra here in Australia are the main imate distributors......
Telstra ROM
I've had this version running on my device for 2 weeks now as I bought the Telstra iMate JasJam.
I don't know about the previous ROM, but this one is terrible; my device will crash, hang or start working in a weird manner all the time...
The most common problems so far:
-Sound stops working, will only vibrate. This happen if you switch to silent mode, when you get back to normal sound mode, it stays in silence mode until you reboot. this doesn't always happen. can't reproduce it consistently
-BT turns off by itself once in a while, you have to turn BT on in comm manager
-The most annoying: If you have a data session active (not transfering any data) and a BT connection active (like headset, GPS), then you can't receive a call. The person calling you won't even get to voicemail. it just hangs up on them. if you disconnect the data session or turn off BT then you can receive calls again
-Switching username in MSN will often make messenger crash, you have to kill the process and start it again
-Sometimes will hang for no reason: you need to press the reset button
Then you have the GUI weirdness which make you think: what did they drink the day they designed this software?
Like if you receive a SMS, it will show you an extract of it at the bottom of the screen, you'll get off the following choice:
-Reply on the left soft menu
-More on the right soft menu with the option (delete, call sender, Save as Read, dismiss)
What if I just want to read the full content in the Messaging application? you can't.
If you select Mark as Read immediately it doesn't mark the SMS as read in the messaging application and you still get the notification in the top screen. You have to do "Mark as Read" twice.
Something I miss from my symbian phone, if you have a bluetooth headset paired with a unit (or your car kit) when you answer a call using the BT headset button, the call goes to the BT headset, but if you answer using the device itself, it doesn't go on the BT. This is great if you want to take a personal call in a car for example, and don't want your passenger to hear what's going on.
On WM5, you can't control that. it aways goes to BT if the headset/handsfree is set.
When the keyboard is open, if you tap on a text field, the screen keyboard will show up (and text half of the screen). Why show a software keyboard all the time when you have a full qwerty keyboard available !? Sometimes the keyboard doesn't show up, but I'm yet to understand the logic behind it. it's not consistent
And then of course you have some inconsistencies here and there, like the device will stop working as it did 2 minutes prior. You try it again: bank it works.
I wonder if Microsoft or HTC have any QA !
Several months back, I was looking to upgrade my G3 Prophet (Imate Jamin). I had one serious problem with all the WM6 ROMs I've tried, as well as with Aserg's3.3 ROM.
The phone will intermittently not recieve calls. The caller is quickly diverted to voice mail, and I get no ring, no notification of a missed call, and no message waiting indicator. As a surgeon who's on call a fair amount, this was unacceptable. Problems with contacts or wifi settings I could work through.
I went from Fantastic Mobitz 1.1i to PDAViet 4.0.0.0.3 to Aserg 3.3 without resolution. I have tried Radio ROMs 2.20.21, 2.47.21, 2.61.21, and 2.69.21 without success in all of them.
In the end, I downgraded to the latest shipped WWE ROM, which was AKU 2.2. This has been fairly stable, but as I look at the newest Touch ROMS, I can't help but feel a new case of ROM envy coming on.
Has anyone had the same problem with the early Crossbow ROMs? If so, has it been fixed in the later ROMS? I know there are lots of people out there who have never had any missed call problems, so my question is only for those few people like myself who missed calls with early versions of WM6. Was this fixed in later versions? Specifically, which ones?
Much thanks,
Alan
Gave in to the temptation.
After waiting a few days for a reply, I couldn't resist - I flashed Prophet Touch X when it became available.
I love the ROM - Fast, nifty touch features, Cube, etc.
However, I still have the same problems - I frequently and intermittently do not receive calls, there is no missed call indicator or missed phone numbers showing.
Does anyone know the cause or a fix? I can't bear the thought of going back to WM5!

SPL 2.20.0000
Protocol 4.1.13.24
OS 10.0.0.0

Which rom do you use for step 1 ? try to flash with another NVID Flash step 1 or PV_temp then flash to WM6. otherwise you can try to change the radio rom to 2.19
If the problem still exist, i think your phone is having problem with the Radio hardware.

u listed everything but the radio rom. Try different radio version.
2.20.x prob good for balance.
2.69.x is hte newest radio rom, a bit harsh on the battery consumption
2.19.x is old, might not work on all the gprs stuff.
JUST me experince, YMMV.
I have a imate just like yours, same IPL/SPL.
never had that problems and always flashed my imate with G4 step 1 roms.

Sorry, had a lapse there..
My RadioROM is 2.47.21. I had tried multiple RadioROMs before in earlier WM6 versions, with no change. On the other hand, some other threads that seem related have had success with 2.19.21, so I'll give it a try. I don't use GPRS for anything anyway.
One question on that - I know you don't lose any data flashing a RadioROM, but one thread mentioned having to hard reset after the flash to get the new RadioROM functionality. Is this true? (Hoping not)

Radio rom is seperate. Like bios, you dont format HDD after upgrade bios. It's safe to upgrade without hard reset. However it doesnt hurt to install latest ROM also (which requires hard reset) Also what kinda 3rd party software you installed on there? commonly when prophet is in data mode, sometime voice doesnt come in, might be something doing that without you knowing.
Yes, that is true.
Radio ROM is not involve with OS ROM, you can flash your radio ROM to any version without effecting to the OS ROM and no need to hard reset.
Hard reset is only for upgrade and downgrade the OS ROM.
I have flashed to any radio ROM without Hard Reset.
Each Radio ROM has different configuration, so it can effected your battery drain because the receiving signal can be different at any radio rom.
we assume the latest radio rom is better than the earlier version but the best things, you can try all the available Radio ROM which is fit to your need.
Cheers,
I have the same problem
I have the same problem - my Imate Jamin (Prophet G3) started to miss calls from time to time after I upgraded to WM6. Tried multiple RadioROMs and multiple ROMs - no effect whatsoever
I have the same problem, but i don't know the solution.
2.19.21 is the solution for me.

Sorry for so long to reply, but I wanted to make sure...
Since downgrading my RadioROM to 2.19.21, I have not had the missed call problem. The last time around on WM6 I tried everything from 2.20.21 on up to the latest without any improvement.
If you haven't tried 2.19.21, try it.
As a side note, I feel the Prophet Touch X ROM works great now, and I'm experiencing no bugs. However, the battery drain is more than the WM5 WWE.
YMMV

Hi,
In Every ROM with WM6 and WM6.1 I got this trouble.
My QTEK S200 works fine with MW5 , when I install a WM6 ROM the sound dissapear.
First my QTEK S200 (HTC Prophet)
IPL: 2.20.0001
SPL: 2.20.0001
Radio: 2.47.21
OS: 2.20.7.35 WWE Korand 3.1 WM6.1
Protocol: 4.1.13.24
2 GB SD
Software Installed:
Coreplayer 1.1.0
SPB Weather 1.0
Oxios Memory 1.40
Battery Status 1.04.203 beta4
Windows Live for Mobile 10.6.0033.0600
How this happen...
1.- The Sound dont work, The Speaker.
2.- I can recibe call and call. But incomming call theres no sound only Vibration.
3.- When this happend I try to Open CorePlayer or any software for media and give a error " Wave Output: Devide Error !"
4.- Reset , the sound come back but...
5.- After this the ENDCALL Button works bad, after pressing this sound like a chime.
I got to rollback to WM5 and the trouble never come again.
I try a lot of things Reset, Flash , Reflash , Another ROM , bla bla...
And I confirm this only happen with WM6 and now WM6.1
I Think this is a software trouble , no hardware because when I turn the Volume down the weird Chime Sound go down too.
Please Gullum , HMA4 , Korand, Cloudyfa ... help me ... I dont know what to do ...
Seems only you have this problem, try to read step by step guide to upgrade again then flash to Korand 2.6 WWE, if the problem still happen, it must be your hardware problem.
IN your signature :
IPL: 2.20.0001
SPL: 2.20.0001
Radio: 2.47.21
OS: 2.20.7.35 WWE Korand 3.1 WM6.1
Protocol: 4.1.13.24
How can Korand 3.1 using SPL 2.20.0001 ??? when using korand 3.1 the SPL should be 2.g3.4pda.
To me it seems to be a software conflict. Try to keep your ROM clean after a reflash for some time. If you have this problem without any additional software installed, then the problem is with your Prophet (as you being the only one reporting) but I can't imaging because things work fine with WM5.
So give it a try and don't install anything exept your ROM.
@tb:
He probably used JumpSPL to flash, that utill don't change the SPL but bypasses it only once.
Looks like a radio Problem. change your radio, I think it will help just give it a shot ..
thanks guys
thanks for your comments ... since yesterdar I do a HardReset and work with the rom clean ...
Everything goes ok ... But lets see...
If the problem appears again I will notice you..
Thanks again..

Hi, I can the same problem. I have korand 6.1 WW3. This problem is the same with Shadow (all version), Korand, etc. Do you find the problem? Im sorry for my poor english.
I have the same problem. It's not a big deal - happend only once or twice and after softreset the problem is no more. Using Konrad's 2.5.
Another problem that's more of a pain in the ass is that my prophet hangs once in a while. At times, when I press the power button to get it to standby mode it just won't turn back on - I have to soft reset it.
Problems such as not always working are something you must accept is going to happen when you put software on a device that it is not designed for. People like gullum and Cloudyfa try to remove as many problems as possible, but they will happen. Nothing can be done to prevent all problems, but the experts can sort most of them.

People like gullum and Cloudyfa try to remove as many problems as possible, but they will happen. Nothing can be done to prevent all problems, but the experts can sort most of them.

Yup, and we are pretty much aware of it But the guy was just pointing out the problem, so saying what you have said is quite pointless. Let's just try to work out the problems we can work out and try to "live" with the rest.
My comment was more about this:
Another problem that's more of a pain in the ass is that my prophet hangs once in a while.

me and my brother changed to WM6 and we both get the same problem that the sound goes off after some while and then i have to soft reset and then the sound comes back ,, this is a serious problem please try to find a solution
thank you
What ROM did you upgrade to?
Again ...
Hi , me again ...
I do a hard reset , work some days with a clean rom and the problem appears again ...
Clean ROM = No Sync, No Soft , No Apps , no Nothing !!!
A lots of tests ... So I Confirm that this problem is the ROM maybe the OS , some driver etc. WM 6 or WM 6.1.
I try to work some days without a SIM and the problem never come ... Maybe this can use as a clue for a solution.
I dont know what more I can do...
If HMA4 , Korand, Gullum or Cloudyfa need me as a tester for a solution to this problem I do it ..
Hi guys, I am experiecing the same problem.
Mine is a Dopod 818pro with SPL 2.20 and Radio ROM 2.69
Please advise your ROM versions to see if any clues.
Please Help !
Gullum, Cloudyfa, Korand, Hma4 and others developers ... please help us
I know of this problem with some builds and the workaround is to goto phone > menu > options and set kaypad of so no sound comes when pressing the numbers of the dial pad. some builds have the problem of disaparing sound after pressing in about 30 - 40 numbers on the phonepad.
Thanks Gollum
Thanks Friend...
So , you tell me if I turn Off the keypad tones the problem dont come back ?
But what about the Chime Sound when the Endcall button is preset ?
In my phone i Got the weird sound of the endcall button after the problem of the sound goes away ... a Soft Reset and the weird sound come ..
If you want in some solution for this I wanna help you as a tester..
Thanks again gollum
It sounds I was caught by the same problem, at least by looking. I got no sound from my phone speaker now. This happened after I try to play music through the Nokia BH801 BT headset. I installed a bunch of program but none works, and i lost sound after I installed BT 3900. Don't know if that's the reason, but I couldn't access bluetooth manager through BT 3900 indicating " insufficient memory". Plus, I got two BT icons in "connection" page now
I would like to remove BT 3900, but wasn't able to locate the file. I read the Enable_MS_BT.cab could do the job, but just can't find the file.
Please give me some clues to solve this frustrating problem. Thx a lot
...
I think that your problem is other ...
But why you dont try a Hard Reset, if the problem is Logical or Soft Driver , a Hard Reset maybe can be the solution ...
Try this ... and see if your Speaker come to life again.
so what is the solution ,,, now more than 10 people have the same problem but no solution????????????????? (((((
After i did the hardspl and upgrade to WM6.1 i have 2 serious problems. The first: when the battery is less than 20% and do or accept calls, after some seconds the pda reboot when i speaking. the second: i can send but can't recieve data via bluetooth connection. the beam is activate and the pda discoverable. even pair the device it can't receive anything!!!
ipl 2.20
spl 2.G3.4PDA
rom transform 1.1
Can these problems fix??? If not how to downgrade to the previous spl? I tried with pdaviet but nothing. thank you...
First, Transformer 1.1 isn't a WM6.1 ROM but WM6.0.
Your problems are reported before, but in almost all cases one or two hard resets did the job. If not try another more clean ROM and see if you still have the same trouble.
Remember, the Prophet is a delicate device and very sensitive for all kind of fluctuations during flashing. So don't expect it to be as stable and universal as your desktop PC. If it don't suceed the first time, just do it again...

I have had the same problem with some other versions of WM6, posted here, also I tried to change RadioROMs and come back to WM5 - the result was the same like yours. Then I decided to replace my battery with the new one and it worked!!! Even is told that Li-Ion batteries do not have memory effect, looks like it is other way around...
Try to replace the battery.
i had the very same problem with my battery. just went off at 20%. i have gone back to wm5 for a while now. the problem remained though. therefore i bought a new (not original) battery. but strangely, this one starts showing this behaviour too, although only at 6%.
what the f**k is this??? does it have anything to do with cracking the hard spl???
why do you guys let the battery drain so much? just recharge the battery, don't let it fall that low....
anyway, my 2c.

thanks for your advice! but i have tried also with "shadow my edition 2" by varavusvincent and "shadow 2.0 ce" by cloudyfa which are wm6.1 roms. no results!!! the roms are stable, i think the problem isn't on this. i think something go wrong with the spl. i have done hard reset again and again but the same problem. the transformer1.1 is very stable(i worked on it 6 months +) and i hadn't any problem with this rom before. how can i do downgrade to previous spl?
i extracted official spl 2.15.0001 (g4) from the latest o2 update (germany). so if anybody is interested, i can upload it. but it is G4 ONLY.
i reverted to wm5 and spl 2.15 myself having some very, very strange behaviour with my old battery. i tried the procedures suggested by rondol1. now everything SEEMS to be in order. but i have not discharged my battery completely. i will report back what happened.
cheerio.
I don't know in detail what the SPL does alltogether, so I can't confirm if the mentioned problem are (or can be) related to the HardSPL installation. But according to several posted solutions regarding the battery, it seems that there is definitly a relation on that issue.
To install a "normal" SPL, you can flash an original ROM from your vendor, but then everything will be bach to factory default. You can also take advantage of the offer from Chriskay above...
