WM2003se and Widcomm BT stack for Himalaya - MDA II, XDA II, 2060 ROM Development

Having played around with WM2003se I still find that the MS Bluetooth stack is quite silly. I have seen some posts of people claming to have the widcomm stack working with SE, but I have not yet been able to find instructions.
The important things to me are in this order:
1. Hands free (headset and car kit)
2. GPS (Falcom NAVI-1)
3. BT Activesync
Would be nice to know whether this is possible.
Respect to dcs, mamaich, sin and everyone else assiting withe the wm2003se project for Himalaya.

yes, it is working with Win2k3SE
but not really sure working with other BT device
e.g Handfree, no sound and etc

Where to find the widcomm stack

I've actually been able to get my Xda II to run the following since ROM 1.60 to my current 2.06:
1. Bluetooth Headset (Sony Ericsson / EPoX)
2. ActiveSync via Bluetooth
3. File sending and receiving from other bluetooth devices
I have no GPS, so I haven't tested this yet.

what about the hands free is it working guys?

HI!
See my new thread "BT carkits woes come to an end with 2003 SE"

Headset option available but no Hands Free option on XDAII

I need some help and I'm not technical... when using my XDAII with only a Jabra FreeSpeak BT250 I had no problems at all. Recently I had my car dealer install a bluetooth hands free system (Parrot CK3000 - www.bluedrive.com) in my car and when I pair with my XDAII the headset connection is lost with the Jabra becuase there is no handsfree option on the XDAII. As I understand it, I must have a headset profile for the Jabra and a handsfree profile for the CK3000. Is it possible to have two profiles on my XDAII for two types of connections? If so, how? If not, does anyone know how I could have two headset profiles that I could easilly switch between based on the pairing device I want to use? Please help...

Well, the XDA II comes with Microsoft's Bluetooth stack, and that stack just does not implement the Handsfree Profile. Some people have, with some degree of success, installed a Widcomm Bluetooth stack on an XDA II. However, as the Widcomm stack was never officially ported to the XDA II, it cannot completely replace the Microsoft stack, so that solution has a few quirks (having two stacks, and switching betrween them for different applications). If you want to try that, just search for "Widcomm". Be advised, however, that the Widcomm stack is not freeware, and is not sold separately. So, all version you find are pirated.
Then there are the Pocket Bluetooth Tools (http://bluetooth.i-networx.de). I think they would allow you to have more than one Bluetooth headset paired with your XAD II, but unfortunately at least the version 1.1.0 does not work with your Parrot. I know that for sure, because I have a Parrot CK-3000 myself (firmware 3.13), and no matter what I tried, it didn't work.
And this is where your options end... no luck, I am afraid.

Two BT Stacks...what are the potential problems
Thanks for the initial support...very helpful!
If I install the Widcomm Bluetooth software what functions will not be supported/available. I currently have he Jabra FreeSpeak BT250 and the Parrot CK-3000 I would like to pair but also have a BT Sony Vaio Laptop PCG-Z1WAMP3 that I will pair over the next few days and plans to purchase a BT GPS unit in a week that works on the XDAII and the Laptop. Will Widcomm software support all my needs or will it fall short.
PS - before reading your post I tried Pocket Bluetooth Tools (http://bluetooth.i-networx.de) version 1.1.0 and I could not pair the two either. I was initially happy and finally maddened! Should this be removed before adding Widcomm if I do elect to proceed?
Cances of getting anything to work with your sony vaio (other than other sony kit) are slim, sony use their own peculiar bluetooth stack and it doesn't support any but the most basic profiles on any other stack. If I try to search services on my sony c1-mhp from my xda 2 with either widcomm stack or microsoft stack all i get is a load of serial ports.
I did see a thread a while ago about using the widcomm stack on a vaio, but can't remember where.

Well, it'll be hard enough to get two stacks together working on one hardware, so I don't think it'll be a good idea to add a third player (the Bluetooth Tools) to the game.
I had the Widcomm installed only very briefly. Some time after that, more elaborate instructions on how to install and set up the beast occured on this forum, so your best bet is to search the forum for "Widcomm" and read everything you find. Be warned - it still is a big hack that involves manually adjusting Registry entries and such things.

First time and 2 questions...

I just got my XDA II and loving it. This is my first post here, I've been looking for a great XDA site and now I found one.
First question is, how do you guys find all those ROM updates and Radio Stack upgrade? I have 1.60.00WWE and Radio version 1.08.00. Is there a new rom upgrade out there that I can't find in myxda.com site?
Second question, could I replace the Microsoft Bluetooth stack so I can use my bluetooth headset to listen to music or videos?
Thank you for your time,
Eberhard
I can answer the second question, the bluetooth on the xda2 does not allow listening to music through bluetooth headset neither has the full handsfree/headset profile been implemented. A very clever person has however written a program called pocket bluetooth tools which go some way to addressing some of the shortcoming regarding serial port profiles. Some of the later roms however have negated the need for this program. Run a search on this forum for "bluetooth", make sure you have an hour or two to spare.

As you know, the Xda 2 is name by thousand of other names like MDA2,I-Mate pocket pc phone,Q-tek 2020,etc..
The official upgrades you can find everywhere, especially on the company site like: www.clubimate.com (I-Mate)
www.myxda.com (Xda-O2)
www.qtek.nu (Q-tek)
Who let you download the newest upgrade by free.
-Actually there isn't such implemetantion on curent bluettoh stack but, have you tryed installing the new Bluetooth hacked Stack from Widcomm?
I give u the link for Access the Lan over Bluetooth, then you will find the link to the download of the Stack named BluetoothGPS.zip

Thanks for all the tips you guys given me. I tried bluetooth stack and so far it works.
As for the hack on the bluetooth, I'm going to try it now.
But it still don't fulfill my satisfaction as I can't listen to music thru my bluetooth headset, at least not with bluetooth tools.
Thanks again, I hope this bluetooth hack will solve my needs to listen to music over my headset.
what hack are you guys talking about ??
i ve installed widcomm stack and the kai patch. when the widcomm manager connects to the headset it gives beeping sounds but after i answer the beeps there is no sound on my imate or the headset..
what hack are you guys talking about ??
Well, I tried the Widcomm BT tools and the darn thing don't work. 2 Bluetooth Icon Appeared on the bottom and I tried to connect my Headset and it doesn't want to stay connected when I hit the connect button. It would sound on but then it turns off and I can't answer a call with it.
Does Widcomm BT has to be installed with the Bluetooth Tools?

WM 2005 and Bluetooth Hands Free

Does the WM 2005 bluetooth work properly with handsfree profile or is it like 2003 and only work with head set profile :?:
Thanks
Jon
Works perfectly with my MR Handsfree headset. Until now I could not get it working in handsfree mode. With WM2005 it is working.
Own an AUDI with the factory installed Bluetooth handsfree kit and I have never been able to pair the XDAii with it so that it works properly - incredibly unstable and never could get to work completely... been lurking this forum and others and tried lots of solutions... upgraded the OS to WM5 today and first time paired and works perfectly - even displays caller ID on the Audi instrumentation!!! Most pleased - now if only I can get the o2 GPRS connection to work
Did notice the following problems with the Bluetooth
- Com ports not recognised - seemed to have something to do with the pairing... simple reset after pairing with Audi would then allow com port assigned to BT GPS (not fully tested yet)
- Multiple pairing - device seems to want to pair more than once not sure about this one but who cares it works now

I have Ericsson's HBH-65 and WM2005 uses it as Headset only. It doesn't even call-back when I press headset button :-(((((((
Motorola HS-850...
I have a Motorola HS-850 and it works perfectly with WM2005 in Handsfree mode.
Now if I can just get it to voicedial via bluetooth...
Jabra BT250 here and Handsfree works great!!!
WM2005 is the only OS that I have had where my Jabra does what i want it to do.
Craig.
The crux is can you activate your phone through your BT headset to call any number?
No good in a BMW
I loaded 2005 and tried to pair it with my BMW, although the pairing went well and the hands free profile was selected, its no better than Sins 2003 rom.
The microphone in the car doesnt work, the speakers do. The microphone on the phone is the active one. It wont connect a call unless you try twice and you have to answer call twice before they connect.
Bugger
Jon
In the devices list, tap and hold the car kit, and select handsfree, see if this helps.
Voice dialling
The thing I find most surprising with WM2005 (and the previous versions for PPC) is the lack of hands free/car kit voice dialling. That is one thing the P910 has over WM2005 phones that emphasises that full convergence has not happened in the mind of developers... the PPC is a PDA with phone connectivity, whereas the Symbian system has taken the approach that its a phone first and foremost. With the simple addition of hands free voice dialling, WM2005 could be the first really convergent OS.
(I'm kinda hoping someone will say they have a perfect voice-dialling system in place for the XDAII with WM2005, in which case I'll gladly eat my words)
I am still very grateful for ALL those here who have helped deliver three OS upgrades to my XDA in the space of 18 months!!!
Some people are using Microsoft Voice command with Magneto and they reported it to work well.
Cheers
Pat

ditto with Merc 2003 E class.
same old problem with handsfree
i also have the Motorolla HS850 and though it did work for a while it seems to be back to mic and speaker working on the device and only speaker on the headset!
so though you can hear the call on the headset the mic dosn't work but the mic on the device is active as is the speaker
has anyone else had this with 2005?
have hard reset and re loaded 2005 but without success
hmm its working again.....
this is wierd!
headset battery was low yesterday so it may be to do with that. will keep checking and see if i can spot a pattern

Bluetooth problem with WM6 ROMs for ATOM

Hi Guys,
I have encountered the following problem.
When I first add my Supertooth II (car kit) to the ATOM (normal Hands Free handshake), everything goes well and I can get and make phonecalls.
However, after stopping the bluetooth on the ATOM and restart it after a while there is no communication between the devices any more and I have to add the Supertooth again to work.
I did not have the problem with the previous cooked WM5 ROMs.
Any Ideas?
Thanks,
Yaniv
yeah I got this problem too...actually I can turn on the BT but the phone (device) will not be found if searched by other devices. Even with the ver 7a WM6...

since all of you have bluetooth device, can one of you test this application. this is MSI BluePlayer, try to play the music from this application and let me know the result.
i didnt have this issue. i use a a2dp head set for listening to music. .. the only issue iv had is when ur speaking to some one over bluetooth and another calls comes in . the voice goes blank till transfer the call back to phone and then again back to bluetooth . but i thought that was a ITECH bluetooth head set issue so didnt bother talking about it. had this issue even during wm5
MSI Player is unholy bull**** crap. We need native BT stereo in any player/

This is an MS Bluetooth Stack issue and cannot be rectified because Microsoft can't be bothered. It's a problem even with other phones, which is why people have tried to replace bluetooth stacks with ones from Widcomm and co (unfortunately for us, this isn't possible, and I believe that Jiggs has tried this before).
Microsoft doesn't garuntee full compatiblity with all headsets using its lame bluetooth stack. On my end, the A2DP works, the mic works, the "return to A2DP mode" works, I can resync when cut off, but I can't hear s*** when engaged in a voice call.
Jigg's ROM is still on the WM5 Bluetooth stack. The WM6 Bluetooth stack, which I've also tested, is supposedly better for voice calls but IIRC is NOT compatible with MANY headsets (A2DP won't work on most headsets that aren't marked BT2.0) - just ask the Athena users. It isn't compatible with mine - produces NO output in A2DP... I was the one who advised Jiggs to stick to the WM5 bluetooth stack. >_>

thanks for clearing that out Ulti. I was wondering if you could try one more time with wm6 ms bluetooth stack? In the headset profile, I have tried to integrate a new set of bluetooth audio gateway. Unfortunately, this requires flashing a new ROM as the modules need to stay modules to work.
It is open to everyone with a bluetooth headset to try... I don't have a device to test it. sorry.

Jiggs,
what can be the reason for after first handshake everything is going well, but after restarting it the devices do not communicate (for inbound & outbound phone calls) ?
Moreover, if you use the same WM5 bluetooth stack, how come I did not have that problem with the WM5 ROM ?
Thanks,
Yaniv

Thanks, Jiggs, but the A2DP's still NG to my headset with this test ROM. Replacing the keyboard with the black one I liked back during O2 Mini BigStorage is a nice touch, tho.
Anyone else with a BT Stereo Headset, especially a 2.0 standard one, go ahead and help test. You may have better luck than me (the SR200 is just BT1.2 standard, and I'm now pushing SonicGear for a firmware update).
Sorry, I have Pulsar 590E and its 1.2 Bluetooth.

TomTom Navigator 7.918(9193) Volume Control?

I have TomTom Navigator 7.913(9189) on my Leo. It is a custom ROM using the latest shipping base & packages (3.14) and WM 6.5.3 (5.2.23152). I have a Bluetooth carkit (XCarLink) and the pairing is set up OK as far as I can see. The XCarLink has Hands-free and Stereo Audio. Playing music is fine, however the audio from TomTom is at maximum and whatever I change the volume to in TomTom it stays the same. It is so bad that there is clipping. I have changed the 'Link volume to car speed' to enabled and disabled and there is no difference.
I had the same version (same .CAB) on my Blackstone and the audio worked perfectly on this.
Any ideas?
Andy
Hi,
had a similar problem with the Mobile Navigator
I think it has something to do with HTC's own Bluetooth stack.
Strangely, it was not at all tested Costumrom's
One solution I have not found yet.
Hi!
This is just to let you know taht you are not alone. I got the very same problem on my HD2, Jabra connector and Navigator.
The problem apears just using blutooth, using the earphone jack it works flaweless.
I would appreciate any help.
Thanks
Gabriel
After a lot of searching I now understand that the BT stack on the HD2 is the Widcomm/Broadcom BT stack and this is the issue. On the Blackstone its the MS BT stack. Apparently the Broadcom stack doesn't support volume control - this is supposedly a function of the bluetooth audio device and the volume must be controlled by it. Its not part of the BT standard if I am to believe other posts? This is obviously different from how the MS stack worked as this worked perfectly on my Blackstone.
I did some research into maybe getting the MS stack transplanted back into the HD2 ROM but I never got very far with it - I assume its possible as the Windows Phone 7 ROMs for the HD2 have the MS BT Stack don't they? Plus all the HD2 Android ROMs using other drivers for the BT?
Andy
