Hi experts...
Well, I have just recently upgraded to WM2003SE with ZeroXtreme modified ROM. Lately, while I was using my xda 2, probably it process pretty much heavy task and got hang. I did a soft the first time, it was somehow froze at the splash screen. Thought I waited longer than the usual time it'd load to windows, impatiently I soft reset the second time.
Surprisingly It proceeded to the align window which was actually done by hard reset. I was still puzzled even now, wonder whether it does happen like with the upgrade or just on my machine.
However, before this happen, I did somehow accidentally got my xda 2 knock against the ground quite lightly and a little scratch was on my baby's... Not sure if that was part of the cause of the auto-hard reset?
After reinstalling all applications back, I did some trial and error to test if it reoccur by soft resetting a few times and pressing multiple buttons simultaneously or any other way that I could think of to test out.
And so far it didn't auto-hard reset again. But, sometimes, if I soft reset it, it'd froze at the 2nd splash screen (the first splash screen where it displays the rom version, etc for short). Hence, i need to soft-reset it another time to get back working.
Experts please give advise or anyone experience the same occurence please do share. thanks.
Hi buddy,
The hang/delay while soft reset seems to be a common problem for 2.06 ROM. I have the same problem as well. Someone suggested the XCPUScaler could help a bit and it does....well, not totally. Sin from Australia suggested a merge of 2.02t and 2.06 ROMs can resolve the problem. I haven't try it yet but if you would like to give it a go, do a search in the Forum.
Have a great Christmas!
Cheers!
Check the DB_notify_queue database as it might contain lots of records ... use CheckNotify to clear it as the clearnotify.exe fix doesn't
P.S: it shouldn't contain more than 20 records in average

Hi!
I use CheckNotify and check that they were 21 records. I guess it's normal then, since you said it shouldn't be more than 20 records. So, do you think I should still run the "clearfix.exe"?
I was just puzzled, how on earth that it could hard-reset by itself, when I was expecting a soft-reset on the machine.
I tried to recollect how was it possible to happen, and I thought it could be due to the one time that it slipped off my hand and knock on the ground lightly while I was trying to snap a picture that's closed to the floor. Other than these, I'm not too sure what's the cause could be, cause it might be too technical for me to discover :?
I think this is the problem of using non-official rom, especially main one. I have similar problem but not that serious. This is our trade off as no one force us to flash our rom.
Sometime I think it might be hardware problem too, as my wife is using 1.66WWE (I did not flash her machine), it sometimes hard reset automatically too... Also, everything change sim card - even if the 2nd battery is full, it still lost all the data.
Might be the machine is too complicated or might be this is a common feature of all the windows products.

My phone was fine for a while, although I noticed that the time that it took to load my today screen after a reboot was extremely prolonged after time. I did a hard reset today and backed all my files up with spm back up or sbp? Anyway as I loaded the backup file executable, I noticed when it loaded system files that I saved from my passed phone my phone froze. So I went back and loaded all the files except system and it has been working fine and loading a lot faster, but the freezing still happens. I will list the times I have noticed when it will frequently freeze on me:
When I get a call it will just keep vibrating then I will have to soft reset
When I get in and out of MMS or finish a text
Sometimes my screen won't even turn back on after I didn't it after a day of paintball.
I use Radio rom 3.42.50
Also, this freezing awkwardly began to occur when I started having long conversations with this chick on the phone. Maybe it is a battery problem? If so, if any of you would be kind to get me the stock rom and or dcd 3.2.6 if i need to reinstall anything. I also used the usb unlocking cab not the memory card one, I will even offer money. This is very irritating because this is my business phone and the soft resets lose the last calls and texts I receive. Most of them are very important which is why this sucks so bad, excuse if this is long but many people do not provide sufficient info to troubleshoot to problem.
Thank you guys once again.
P.S I will post in both Titan and Titan upgrading since I am unaware to post this , mod please delete if I am breaking any of the rules.

I suspect that this is the issue... stop doing this, cuz it's against "The Man Law" Article 8, section 4.... "A man shall NOT engage in lengthy phone chat with a women unless it's about sex, hunting or eating..."
lol
Oh trust the conversation was full of sex , and phone sex
You aren't alone; I was having all sorts of problems like this from 3.26 onward... but now that I've been using 6.5 builds from PPCGeeks, this problem has gone away entirely.
Make the jump d00d.
Can I get a link for that? Any of you think it may be the battery? Yesterday when it was out of battery I plugged it in and it didn't even want to start up anymore. Also the battery was getting pretty hot that usual , very much like it has been used for a long period of time.
I wonder if anyone on Bell is using 6.5. Maybe I should make the jump.
Just installed 21501 by Tplane and got a freeze already. Is there any possible way the issue may be the battery.
Howdy guys,
after a little help please. I am using energy cookie rom since may with little problems.
However, recently the phone started switching itself off. I noticed it whilst streaming with 'myplayer'. Then it did it when i received a text message. Now it is doing it all the time. I have started playing a game called land, air, sea, warfare (great game btw) And the problem is worse not only does it just switch the phone off but it somehow manages to make the phone do a hard reset???????
When the phone switches back on it says it is the first time the phone has been on and goes through asking me which carrier i am using?
Also sometimes it wont switch back on and i have to false a hard reset to get it to work. I have done about a dozen hard resets since yesterday.
Any ideas please? Btw i did perform a task 29 and a hard reset after i installed this rom.

My two pennies on this:
1. Perform a task29 again.
2. Install a stock ROM.
3. Install HSPL3.
4. Perform Task29 again.
5. Install the ROM again.
Should remove all the problems and get you a good clean ROM without probs.

Howdy, thanks for taking the time to respond. So you think the issue is probably software related rather than hardware? I only ask cause that 'game' is 40 mb and i was wondering if maybe it is too resource hungry for my phone and maybe i have an issue? Ram, cpu etc?
Either way i will try and change the rom first.

I am using energy cookie rom too. I used to have the same problem like you, and i did some easy things to solve. It's ok so far and i hope to help you.
- Flash new stable radio after flash rom (someone say should flash radio in advance, but not for me). V2.10.50.28_2 is good to me.
- Turn off auto lock. It makes some disadvantages to you, but helps your device from death - sleep.

I doubt it is that game resource problem. Most probably some software conflict only. HD2 can handle 40mb game files easily.

Guess your game has got some serious conflict with the ROM and is corrupting some reg settings or some ROM settings. Probably you are better off not installing that game again. Moreover, write to the developer of the game about this issue.
With regard to the phone, just follow the same advice I gave in the first post. Time consuming I know, but your device will get back to normal. Fingers crossed.

looks like something is going on? I performed about 5 hard resets and finally got the phone to boot up. But it is hanging for everything now. I turned on bluetooth, i tried to access sense and both caused the phone to hang. So i will try your advice again, tomorrow. Thanks,
well that game definitely conflicts with the phone.
i flashed a stock rom from the sd card as advised and finally got the phone working aok. within 10 minutes of installing and playing that game the phone is back to her old ways of soft/hard resetting.
is there a way to check that it is not a hardware issue?
thanks again for all your help.
Every time I reset or turn on my fone after shutting down, it will stuck at the logo boot up. It wasn't like that when I first bought the fone. Now it's getting worse and worse since the issue happens so frequently.
I have to take out the battery and put it back, then wait for about 3 to 5 mn before I turn the phone on.Then it would boot up as usual.
Is there anyone facing the same issue as I am? Any suggestion guys?
Are you experiencing excessive heat when this occurs? Also, can you give more info such as: does this happen only after recent charging or does it ever happen when the phone has been turned off for a long time? Was there any recent apps you installed or ROM changes when this started happening? Was there any potential damage done to the phone -dropped it, got it wet, or microwaved
When you say frequently, does that mean every time you restart? every other time? every five times?
Lastly, do you have any other issues/symptoms other than freezing at startup? Does the phone ever freeze during normal use?
i'd suggest you do a hard reset of your phone (hold down both vol up and vol down keys while powering on/resetting). that should fix the problem. if the problem still persists, it's probably some hardware faults.
Me too
My HD2 just started doing this too. It was fine for 7 weeks I have owned it. However, as described in this by OP, when doing soft reset would it would also get stuck on bootup logo. I'd have to remove the battery for a few minutes before it would bootup.
However, my HD2 also crashes and upon reboot then get stuck on bootup logo. It appears to crashes randomly eg not with any particular program or action.
I figured it was software issue so did hard reset. This worked fine. After hard reset the only software I loaded were Total Commander and Cookie Editor.
After Cookie Editor install I did soft reset and it got stuck on bootup logo. : (
So I did another hard reset but it hung up again upon reboot on bootup logo.
This appears to be a hardware issue. But has anyone else had same issue?

yes i am experiencing the same problem and i have uploded a video on youtube showing this! Yes my phone heats up when this happens..
Hi. I got this problem for quite sometime and am so used to taking out and putting back and taking out and putting back the batt.
But now I have another prob: my ringtone suddenly went soft and I now have to keep myself alert all the time to see if there's any incoming call or SMS.
I would like to do a hard reset but the question is: will it set my phone back to the stock ROM or still retain the updated version - 1.66.707.1?
Thanks in advance.

HD2 issue
After some more searching it appears this is not uncommon for HD2. Its not clear to me if it is specific to T-Mobile HD2 or HD2 in general.
It appears to be a hardware issue. Although that is not 100% clear either. I find it hard to distinguish what some people report as 'freezing' which i believe is different to the issue described in this post which is 'hanging up' or 'getting stuck' on boot up screen - in my case it is the T-Mobile 'stick together' pink and white screen/logo.
(The 'freezing' issue that i believe is different to this 'getting stuck on bootup logo' issue appeared to have been resolved iwth new T-Mobile ROM - and I never experienced it on my HD2).
The resolution for getting stuck on bootup screen issue described here appears to have been to exchange HD2 (although some people exchanged up to 6 times and keep getting same issue!)
I think it is important to note that my HD2 performed fine for 7 weeks with lots of soft resets, hard resets, and lots of software installs (though no ROM reflashing) but within last week or so, start crashing randomly, then upon reboot get stuck on bootup screen/logo. This also became more frequent as time progressed. After doing hard reboot, the issue is now acute, eg it gets stuck on every reboot, and crashes more often.
This leads me to think some hardware has failed or degraded and is getting worse, maybe a connection/soldering etc?
However, is there any possibility that a ROM could 'degrade'? Can a ROM have a setting that is modifiable? (I know it is 'read only memory' but is it really?)
Anyways, love to hear from others on this issue.
Same problem here. Bought my HD2 in june. Cooked my own rom with Chucky's kitchen. Flashed different radios, hard resets, task 29 etc. Absolutely no problem. Worked fine for several weeks. But sometime it begun to freeze, auto resets, stuck at boot logo. It was getting worse. Even flashing stock rom it hungs at boot logo.
Now my HD2 is out for repair. Now waiting for returning. Hope they will change the motherboard.
several people have had their motherboards replaced and that has seemed to fix it for them. You'll probably have to fight with htc or your carrier, but should be able to get it replaced.
Hi guys. Another question:
I'm considering doing a hard reset. How do I store my messages before doing it? I can't seem to locate the folder that keeps all my messages.
TIA.
HD2 is an odd one
Thanks for replies. I really don't want to send it in .. but it will probably be the only way to resolve the issue. It will cost me courier there and back, and $20 'triage' fee .. total cost to me will be ~$100 just to have them look at it. Price of doing business I guess.
Anyways, I realized that one of my issues was that it was crashing when syncing. A little digging reveals that HTC Sense does something to all contacts when syncing first time putting a bit of html in contact notes field (weird but it is true .. its their way of reminding you bought an HTC phone?) So once I got it up and running, I disabled Sense and syncing went fine, no crashing.
(Btw, Sense also appears to do something with SMS msgs too so if you have lots it crashes on due to this reason too).
However, even with plain Jane MS today screen (eg not using Sense) it still crashed once on sync and again when listening to radio. Both times had to remove battery for few minutes before it would reboot without getting stuck at bootup logo.
But so far it seemed to be working 'better' without using Sense.
So, I re-enabled Sense to see what would happen and over a day it has crashed twice. I am going to see how it behaves for few days before sending it in as RMA repair.
Still, important point is that it was ok for 7 weeks, and then started crashing, more and more, even after hard reset, though some of issues may have been due to Sense (which is reported by many users).
It is still not a 'normal' thing for a $700 consumer device to have such erratic behaviour. So, given others have exchanged crashing handsets for new handset that has no issues points to underlying hardware issues as suggested above eg motherboard.
As comparison I also have HTC Diamond 2 which has been rock solid for 2 years of continuous use even with lots of software install, tweaking, reg hacks, etc.

Thanks. Btw I read before we can actually 'disable' Sense.
How do we do that?
Sense - go to Today
Go to Start - Settings
- iI you see the black HTC Settings (has 'Personalize' on top of items) then go to Menu and select 'All Settings' (this will show Windows Mobile's Settings. HTC Sense 'Settings' doesn't everything Windows Mobile Settings has or shows it differently)
- Select 'Today'
- Select the 'Items' tab in Today
- Check 'Windows Default' and click OK in top right.
This will 'swap' out HTC Sense 'today' with Windows Mobile standard Today screen and voila you will have 'disabled' HTC Sense and you are back to using Microsoft's Windows Mobile 6.5 version of Sense (not anywhere near as useful or neat-o to look at but hey they are pretty happy with it )

Just by disabling Sense is not going to make it work. I had this problem with my HD2 also and without using Sense it seemed to be working (there were fewer crashes), but only for few days. My HD2 was getting worse day by day - it was not crashing only if it was not touched (it was crashing just cycling between Sense tabs or by initiating a call).
At repair center they told me (after three weeks of waiting) that the motherboard must to be changed.
Is it possible to damage it by flashing custom ROMs?
For me, this problem appeared after just one month of usage. I was flashed some custom ROMs.
Now, I have a new HD2 but I'm affraid to flash a custom ROM (at least in the near future).
I have my HD2 back. Took me 2 weeks, the repair center changed the motherboard and got an new IMEI.
Now all is working, no more stuck at bootlogo.
But i'm on stock rom (1.66) with 2.07 radio. No way to run Android with this radio. Hmm...

I'm afraid as well to flash any custom rom now. For Android i need to HSPL and flash a 2.08 radio or greater to use it. But i'm stick on stock rom for sure.

As i stated earlier, i flashed plenty of roms, doing task 29 etc., in the end stuck on bootlogo.
Thanks for the feedback on your repairs axman79 and Kalip. Btw, aside from courier cost there and back, did you have to pay the $30 'triage' fee or whatever they call it? Also, did they challenge your observations at all or did they just replace motherboard without question?
Yah, disabling Sense hasn't stopped my HD2 from crashing eith. Without using Sense it crashed several times while using Opera and more than a few times while syncing over the past three days. Also, it still gets stuck on reboot often, requiring battery to be removed for few minutes before rebooting.
So, guess I will send my HD2 in for RMA repair too (and wait for up to 3 weeks) and hope I get a functioning device in return.
Interesting though I didn't flash my HD2 but it went from 'good' to 'bad' in similar way that your two HD2's. From reading other posts around here on XDA and elsewhere it appears that HD2 motherboards fail with surprising frequency and for variety of reasons.
Would be nice to know if HD2 motherboards are unusually delicate and something physically breaks, or if there is some electrical operation, eg charging it on USB or unusual combination of button pushes that shorts something out?
The fact that battery has to be removed for few minutes in order to get thing to reboot hints that something requires charge to dissipate eg a component somehow 'locks up' which causes crash, and needs to be discharged by removing battery?

hey guys. I am so glad I found this post! I have exact same issues ith my HD2, it's driving me nuts.
I kept sort of log and described my problems in this post: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=712729
I think I have to send my HD2 for replacement or repair.
Can you please tell me how can I get my phone fixed/replaced?
I got the US T-Mobile version, but I don't have account in T-Mobile. Can I deal directly with HTC? Where do I have to call to get RMA number etc.
I would greatly appreciate your help!

So guys I have a HD2 but sadly the LCD is cracked so it's annoying me a fair bit. The price is a bit steep to get it repaired too (€150+). So was looking online for a replacement and seen this
I have for sale the above phone. I'm selling for 200 for this reason. The phone keeps rebooting and sometimes doesn't come on. I've tried to flash a different rom and the phone booted into windows ok but then stopped coming on again.

Does this sound fixable by flashing a different ROM or maybe MAGLDR and running Android or is it a most likely a hardware issue? AFAIK it boots to HSPL okay.
Not really easy to tell from distance. Some more information would be helpful.
Yes, in many cases, bad flashes can cause many errors. Also, especially in the recent past, many people flashed wrong SPL/HSPL or Radio ROM versions. In addition, some Android builds, if this was used, seem to leave a certain electronic footprint on the device´s memory, all of which could be solved more or less easily.
But then again, there are quite some users, especially with irregular restarts, who had their HD2´s fixed or replaced due to mainboard problems.
As tictac said, its hard to tell.
The fact that the seller mentions trying to correct the problem by reflashing suggests that they at least have a basic knowledge of this kind of thing and how to correct it so personally I would jump to the conclusion that its a hardware probem.
You might get lucky and find that they just arent following the correct steps to fix a software issue but if your patient you could grab a fully functional HD2 from ebay for the same price.
That said, if you were to buy it and find you couldnt fix the problem then you could always put it back on ebay and more than likely break even on what you paid....
Personally though, I'd wait it out.
He said it could be easily fixed but he doesn't have the time and he's not bothering as he has an iPhone 4. I'm going to ask him to try install MAGLDR and if he can should it be okay?
Btw, what sort of information should I ask for?
That just makes me suspicious becase if it could be easily fixed then why wouldnt he just fix it if it can be fixed by flashing then its a 10 minute job. Even someone with a really tight schedule can find 10 mins...
If its been reflashed and the problem persists then theres a good chance its hardware.........
He says the phone boots but stays on white screen. Is this fixable? Funnily enough, I have the same problem with mine at the moment, can't even do a Task29, it stalls at 0%. :s
Alright, guys; I need some help. I previously had the classic all to well known problem with my digitizer, where I was missing about a half inch of touch input on my screen. I had gotten used to just rotating it to type, cause I was out of warranty, and I'm upgrading soon. However, more recently, I have developed a much bigger problem. My touch screen no longer works, AT ALL.
The issue first started when I attempted to install "Someone's ROM" with "That libs". I got screen fade-out that some other users reported, so I pulled the battery and flashed back to my EPinter's CM10 backup. After it had booted, I went to unlock the screen, and NOTHIN'. Not registering any presses or swipes what so ever. I then went into recovery and cleared everything, still nothing. Hooked it up to my PC, ran a FULL wipe (OS included), and flashed a fuitcake. After booting; still no touch screen. A helpful member of this forum suggested I try the PDS fix, so I did. Still left with the same result.
So, my question is... Is there any way that someone MUCH smarter than I can look at some type of statistic I can pull from my phone to see if there's a software problem causing this issue? And if so, is there any way I can retrieve said info with out being able to use the phone it's self? I really don't want to go the next 2 weeks with a flip phone. heh.
EDIT: If anyone can figure this out and get it fixed, I would be more than happy to donate.
Mast likely your digitizer is just broken!
Happens quite a lot on that phone.
They are not that expensive! (see for example http://www.amazon.com/Motorola-Screen-Digitizer-Replace-broken/dp/B004Z0UO8O)
If you can't change it yourself see if you find someone to do it.
Yup. Sounds more like a hardware issue since you already did all recommended procedures.

Yeah, I figured as much. Just hard to accept that it's finally completely gone out on me. Especially since it happened at the exact second I tried flashing experimental, untested firmware. I am aware of how simple a digitizer replacement would be, but I don't want to spend $40 on a new one, when I'm about to dump another $300 into a new phone in two weeks, ya know?
