Upgrading from i-mate to the newest ROM.

Hi
I have an i-mate with the following ROM in it:
Rom version 1.52.00wwe
Rom date 10/23/03
Radio version 1.10.00
Protocol version 1337.18
(wich is the official i-mate ROM)
I want to upgrade it to the latest version (1.60.36WWE). Upgrading with the 'standard' files, I get a Country ID Error. I know that I have to search the forum with 'country AND error' but I get a lot of results and actually none of them are for the 1.60.36WWE. Before crapping on my i-mate, I would like to konw what exactly I have to do to update it. I also want to know if there's any chances that I might regret my update (bugs, limitations...). Thanks a lot for the help from you gurs. I really appreciate it.
I think if you will read this thread - http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=6694
I think it will answer your questions.

New Eddition will be Avilable Soon for from I-mate v.1.66

I am already reg. with I-mate as owner of one of it products, I got informations from them say that new room will be avilable soon it is ver. 1.66 for XDA II maybe next few days, and the windows Ver. is Windows 2003 SE
at all when I got the link to download it I will publish the link for everyone, Thank you for everyone published that great support using XDA II and XDA. it was great help to me to came very expert in solving problems to my XDA and XDAII
as my profile say then
i have
RUU 1.66.00WWE
RSU 1.10
on my qtek2020 it came with that
as far as i can tell it's not 2003 SE
specs
ROM version: 1.66.00WWE
ROM date> 02/20/04
Radio version 1.10.00
protocol version 1337.18
extOM version 1.66.140
I published what I already read in I-mate forum, I didn't have it yet ...... by the way all new edditions of XDAII coming with v. 1.66
so Rudegar
as it is getting really stressy to have the latest release... ;-)
do you have any ideas about the improvements with your
1.66.00 ROM over the 1.60.00
Alex
hmm, can you post a copy of your rom?
you can copy the rom with pmemdump from itsutils.
well it had that rom when i got it so i cant really compare it with 1.60 since i went from a xda1
i'll look into drumping the rom
but it does seem to have some auto settings and such for
some phone company
usually the phone company specific stuff is in the extended rom.
itsme:
usually the build number is just the ExtROM right? example, the latest tmobile rom i saw in the other thread had 1.60.36, but the os was simply 1.60.00, and the radio was 1.10.00, and the extrom was 1.60.36
does that mean that IF we extract whatever newest rom that comes out in the future and see that it has the same osrom ver and radio stack, merely upgrading the ExtROM is the best way to go?
I mean i know people prefer to only flash the ExtROM, but that's because they want to cook something up. But what if you just want to upgrade and not waste time with the OS if you see they still have the same number, does it HAVE to come hand in hand to upgrade? Or could you just bypass the others and upgrade the ExtROM and expect it to perform like a real update?
yes, that is what I usually do.

Hi
The CHS ExtROM I have just downloaded is a ms.nbf file.
What tools can open nbf file? and how do I use this file?
anyone give me tips
and Why is the CHS ROM download size 107M? the hardware ROM is only 64M. I am quite confused.
please help me on this
Thank you for sharing
But one more question about this
How do we use about these files except the CHT version
and the CHS dopod is a nb1 file.
well, do we need to change the filename or use some more else progamme do cook that.
Please help us
I found this link, and i think it's how you can use the CHS ROM provided on this link..
I am off to find a SDCARD in order to test it and give you guys an answer.
Instead of XDArit, use XDATools
But the thing is that, I am not sure if we could use XDATOOLS for XDAII
most of the example on the web i found is for XDA...
Cheers
http://www.pdasky.com.cn/info/732-1.htm
I have read the Himalaya Rom Flashing
so i get the exact file what the xdaii can read by the CHT rom
but i really need to know how to use the chs extended rom
it says
"checksum is not ok, possibly you provided the wrong password"
who can help me this
any one please help me with this.
thank you
I have no luck with the XDATOOLS with the CHS rom provided in this thread.
Keeps saying incorrect size...
And yes I still have not got my hands on a SDCARD yet :-(

Dear,
I have a really newbie question, what would happen if I only install the chinese ext Rom on my device (if it can be installed in the first place). My current ROM is
ROM Ver: 1.60.00 WWE
ROM date: 12/03/03
Radio Ver: 1.08.00
Protocal: 1337.18
ExtRom: 1.60.44
Hope someone will reply
Cheers,
how can we put the ext rom to the xdaii?
any way with it
I have downloaded the 2 CHS Files (CHS_dopod696_15200_2.rar & extentded rom chs.rar).
HOwever, when I used a ROM Editor Program (er2003edit) to open these files, it ended up with a pop-up windows saying "The Password seems to be wrong"....
Does anybody here got the idea on how to open these files.

[email protected]
You should post this message in the Himalaya Forum, cause if you don't have a wallaby and post this in the wallaby part, the chance is very low, that someone could help you.
Also i think, there are lot of posts of this topic...
Have you already took a look at the ftp-server? There should be the required files...
Stefan
i'm sorry for the wrong posting...
hehehe..thanks pal..

Please check my intended upgrade...

OK...from the beginning...
I managed to get an o2 xda 2,it is the first time I have ever seen a pda up close let alone owned one!!
The details for the device are:-
Model No: PH10B
Rom Ver: 1.03.00 usa
Rom Date: 09/24/03
Radio Ver: 1.05.12
Protocol Ver: 1337.12
Microsoft Pocket PC Ver: 420.1081 (Build 13100)
At present locked to O2 UK (I am in UK)
I want to primarily use this with Tomtom in the car.I installed TT 5.021 ok but could not get it (TT) to connect with my Holux slim.I guess that the pda is pretty much as was original,so could maybe benefit from an upgrade.
A member over at AVForums suggested this Forum,so here I am .
As you may appreciate, there are many very long threads on here, and after awhile,it makes my brain ache ,but I hope I have gleaned what is necessary.
Anyway,my proposed upgrade:-
1. Unlock with OLD xda2unlock
2. TOFCLOCK HIMA WM6 AKU.0.7.0
CE OS 5.2.1908 (Build 18508.0.7.0)
Radio Ver: 1.17 at the same time (put in same folder as Rom I believe)
3. Run Patched/Fixed/Updates
Fixed MMS Client or Patch If Already Installed:
Arcsoft MMS Client 4.2.8.1 (new Install)
http://rapidshare.com/files/54673552....8.1_Fixed.rar
MMS Patch1 (If you already install the packed one with picture issues, install and softreset)
http://rapidshare.com/files/54672723/MMS_Patch1.rar
New File Explorer (WM6 Explorer by dutty)
http://rapidshare.com/files/54679305/FileExplorer.rar
4. Install any Add-0ns.
Is this all I need to do?
Any particular order,or in the order I have written?
I didn't find much about bootloaders...does that need to be updated, and if so how and which one where?
If I have misunderstood, and there is more to do,points to watch out for or missed please advise...any and all help is much appreciated.
Many thanks for taking the time to read this...
.
not sure about your gps but if it's wired all you have to do may be
to disable auto recieve beams to free out that com port
there is no general issue with older roms and gps's
could just be a setup issue
Thanks,already done that.It's a B/Tooth Holux GPSlim 236,not wired.
