New Connection icon - MDA II, XDA II, 2060 ROM Development

hi,
Just trying out Sin's great work in Merging Win2k3Se roms.
He posted "Connection.cab" there, which was O2's V2R handywork. Whenever device connects white O2 used to become Blue O2.
I was experimenting with that file and wanted to have connection icon like PC .
I replaced O2 icons with that from PC. I know there is no real use of this notification, but then what the heck is hacking for...

PPc2003 Installed !!

Hi Guys,
Just installed the new ppc2003 (thanks for link).
Just trying it out at the mo, until xda-developers release the special edition one!
Are the cleartype fonts on by default?, can you turn them off?
Also, i like the spiral theme that comes with it , where can i download ppc2003 themes from?
or can i use the older ones?
cheers
ps, i am thinking about hosting the ppc2003 upgrade ... on a standard http download .... would anyone still be interested?
Yes ClearType is on by default, to turn it off go in :
Start/Settings/System/Screen and uncheck the `Enable ClearType` box.
You can use any Pocket PC theme on The 2003 version but for `The Look` check out http://www.microsoft.com/windowsmobile/resources/downloads/pocketpc/themes.mspx
thanks mate.
hey
can all software from ppc 2002...be used on 2003?

Unfortunetly not, a good example would be Journal Bar from Omega One. On the bright side, any software that does NOT work on Pocket PC 2003 is been modified / rewritten to work, and that at the end of the day can only be a good thing for the end user.

Offering: Pack to change T-Mo bits to Orange

I have done some resource hacking on some bits of the T-Mobile 4.01.00 rom, and replaced the T-Mobile icons on the today screen, and the "taskbar" for Orange ones.
Also in the pack is an Orange Operator logo that shows on the dialler screen.
If anyone want it let me know and I'll email it, as I have nowhere to host.
Cheers
Neil
Interesting, I like a copy just to see how you did it! 8)
Thats if you don't mind!
No probs,
You can edit them to your operators logos etc by using a program called ResourceHacker, its a free download.
Use it to open the files that are in the zipfile, then you can simply replace the icons & bitmaps with the ones of your operator.
There are still a couple of T-Mobile icons lurking about, as I only done it as a quick test, but i'll look into it properly tomorrow.
The zip file should be in your email
If anyone else wants a copy just let me know

phoneExt

Hello:
Thank you for this site. I am new to all this. I am not yet ready to use a special edition rom, but I was interested in one of the programs, phoneExt. In fact, I'm mainly interested in distinct ringtones. I installed it on my pocketpc 2002 and it worked except for the distinct ringtones. Then I upgraded to PPC 2003. I installed phoneExt and same thing.
Can anyone help out or point me to another product that allows distinct ringtones per caller?
Thanks in advance.
RingtoneX from MTUX is a good software
if you go from 2003 to the special edition rom then you are downgrading
heck my xda1 came with a newer rom that special edition did
Thank you for the replies. I've heard about RingtoneX, but I liked the fact that phoneEXT is freeware. I decided to give it one more try on 2003 (since it was recommended not to downgrade). So I installed it, put a shortcut in the startup, did a soft-reset, assigned a ringtone to my contact (from the windows/rings directory), and it still didn't work. Any ideas? Or do I really have to remove this and use RingtoneX?
Thanks again.
I have the same problem on my i-mate (ppc 2003). Other folks have it work perfectly. There is an other thread about this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=8788&highlight=
Hope u find it useful
i m using phonExt for long now formerely on my XDA1 and now on my XDA2 both with ppc 2003 and i have no problem playin specific ringtones for every user in my contacts.
just have to put the rings in /windows/rings must be a .wav file
and i define them from the contact list by a long click and the function assign ring tone.
i ve heard many people complaining about phoneext on XDA2 (with ppc 2003).
And i do not understand really, i did nothing specific, just installed the soft and made a shortcut of the exec in the startmenu.
i used in in the extendded personalised rom made with the rom kitchen when i had my XDA1.
well do i have a magic XDA2 or a magic ppc2003 .... i doubt.
I too doubt that you have a magic XDA, but I did all of that. Perhaps my version of the software is older or has bugs. Can you tell me where you got yours or give me a copy (afterall it is freeware)?
Can it be related to the way that phone numbers are in the contacts? For example mine are generally of the format # (###) ###-####, but when I get a call, it does show the contact's name...

Went back to 1.66 :(

Well after finding this site around a month ago and installing all the versions on SE found here, i have deceided to downgrade my M1000 back to factory settings 1.66 rom.
Reasons i have are here :-
- Bluetooth headset sound quality was pants on SE (all versions)
- Unable to get BT activesync to work correctly
- BT Hide and seek plugin...
Basicaly BT was pants.
I've got all the functionallity of SE using SRS including the niec bliss today plugin, running the battery_ou from the ext.rom and just need to get a nice looking keyboard skin and i'm sorted......
Don't know if intelli dailer or the other one intelli pad works in 2003 butm who cares never used it anyway.
If anyone can think of a reason to stay with SE apart from Landscape let me know.... cheers
I'll wait for official release

I don't think there will be official release for WM2003SE for XDAII.
For XDA2 owners, the best bet is to wait.

" running the battery_ou from the ext.rom a"
Um, I dont have this, where did you get it? can you post a link?
Could this be part of the problem of my XDAII not charging (post 2003se upgrade)?
What does this do?
1.66.00wwe
Hi does anyone have the file for restoring rom version 1.66.00 wwe and ext rom is 1.66.165? thanks
I am back to the good old ROM for simple reasons in the order that it bugs me.
1. Missing Calls.... Phone never ring or No Signal on the caller end
2. Suspicious compatibily with many programs
3. Landscape do not appeal to me
4. Only want to work well with Pocket Knife (Chinese PIM)
First off happy new year to every one.... Then, the battery_ou is a little program (around 63k) that puts a battery indicator on the task bar status bar next to the clock and adds a task manager link to the bottom bar.
thats about it....
SRS v4 is fine for landscape mode and getting the lovely 'bliss' theme
the only other thing is the start button looking a bit pants in wm2003 compared to SE, but i guess you can use something like wisbar advance to skin that unless they is something that can change it ?
Would updating to 1.72 be any good ? i used 2.02 for ages and found it great apart from the BT functions, no one has apparently been able to come up with an easy solution to these, so gonna wait until someone can post up a complete M2000 rom image that will run on the M1000

Anyone have a blackberry connect cab file for this phone???

Trying to combine my devices and have been looking for the cab file. It shows on Rim's website that there is one but checked the web and cannot find it. Any help on finding this will be appreciated.
Ditto...but for my HTC S620
Try this one. No promises. Back up before you install, etc...

I wrote to RIM, requesting a client status
Let's see what they say, eh?
lol, RIM is known for its ignorance to VIP vendors, not to say individual customers..
