Not to my upgrade from ZeroXtreme(i tried it last Dec 2004)...maybe your PC got a virus but not from upgrade files...the only cons encountered: lost camera control icons at landscape mode and disappearing bt icons...no virus.

My experience with i-mate JASJAM ROM on TyTN

OK, I've had the i-mate JASJAM ROM installed on my TyTN for a little more than 24 hours. As you probably know, this device was just released this past week, much later than the TyTN. The ROM build seems to be signficantly better based on speed and maturity of the drivers. I have now installed the 2GB microSD card all the software I was using before, including...
1. SPB Pocket Plus
2. WorldMate Pro
3. Verichat
4. PIE Plus
5. Virtual Earth Mobile
6. TCPMP
7. SlingPlayer Mobile
It would seem that i-mate has fixed the issues I was having with the audio/video drivers. When using SlingPlayer Mobile with the original TyTN ROM, the stream would play successfully for a minute or so and then begin to stutter badly whenever I got an email or the device did anything else, which I believe was due to the audio driver. With the i-mate ROM, the issue is completely gone. I can leave SlingPlayer Mobile open indefinitely without issue. Additionally, I find the device significantly more responsive. While it is still slightly slow to turn on from standby sometimes, switching between applications and the overall responsiveness is much better. Now, whenever I press the envelope button, it switches to Outlook instantly while before there was a definite lag. Additionally, I'm getting significantly fewer momentary system hangs and the keyboard seems a bit more responsive, with very few skipped keystrokes. Lastly, battery life seems modestly better.
You can get the ROM over at xda-developers.com, but be sure to read carefully about installation. To get MMS properly installed again, you need to install that CAB from the original TyTN extended ROM.
That being said, I still can't get MMS to work through Cingular
The Cingular MMS Server Settings are:
Server Name: Cingular MMSC
Gateway: 66.209.11.61
Port:9201
Server Address: http://mmsc.cingular.com
Sending Size Limitation: 100K
Wap Version: Wap 1.2
I use:
# Server Name: Cingular MMS
# Gateway: wireless.cingular.com
# Port number: 80
# Server address: http://mmsc.cingular.com
# Connect via: MEdia Net
# Sending size limitation: 300k
# WAP Version: WAP 2.0
This is right from cingulars support page for use with the wizard. I have tested this on the TyTn and it does work.
OK, here's my problem. I'm using the isp.cingular APN to connect via the following settings...
Access point name: isp.cingular
Username: [email protected] (case sensitive)
Password: ZXY203DC9K0402 (case sensitive)
Believe it or not, I can not get the wap.cingular APN to connect for some reason! Do you have to be using the wap.cingular APN for MMS to work?
Thanks!
Don't know why dont you try these settings, test MMS, then we'll see from there.

Hey people, If i did install this new ROM onto my TyTN (removing the origional HTC version) what things would i need to do to ensure the TyTN is working just as it was before the new rom (3rd party apps and things like MMS) ???
What are the benefits of the iMate JASJAM ROM as compared to the original HTM TyTN ROM?
-JoKer
Just to add, ive began using the imate ROM and im experiencing MMS problems with O2 UK also..... update soon when ive tested further
...it seems that having installed the .cabs from the HTC ext rom it messed up MMS?! I reinstalled the imate ext rom by copying the contents from the wiki page in this file to the unlocked ext rom folder, then running the autorun file. It once again prompted for my carrier (to which i selected O2 UK contract) ....and (lol) again it froze when installing the IMEI restricted cabs.....a soft reset cured this. Now testing MMS and its working correctly.
(wiki page updated to warn of this effect)
Wifi problems after installing the JasJam ROM on a TyTN
I agree with the first entry on this thread that the imat eROM seems to perform better than the HTC version, however I do not seem to be able to get the WIFI to connect.
The Comm Manager shows it switched on but when you go to WIFI Settings, the screen does not show any settings and it is not possible to refresh a netwrok list to force a search.
Does anyone have any ideas? Is this an Extended ROM install that I missed?
Thanks
Mike
MMS a definite issue
I upgraded my TyTN to the i-mate ROM today after extensive research on line to see the effects of a move like this. It all worked fairly well and I agree with the original post that the i-mate ROM seems to improve performance and overall 'feel' to the device but I hit the MMS problems same as everybody else, despite trying to use both the i-mate MMS cab file and the HTC MMS cab file (and the MMS worked prior to flashing). I am now putting the TyTN ROM back to see if I screwed up somewhere along the line and maybe start again. I have seen advice saying use the HTC cab and advice saying use the i-mate EXT ROM in it's entirety so not sure where to go next.
(one thing I did do was to run the i-mate MMS cab prior to running the HTC MMS cab without a hard reset in between so this may have played a part)
Will keep you all posted....
Okay, the HTC ROM is back in place and MMS working fine - same connections settings etc. so there is def a compatibility prob with the JASJAM ROM on the TyTN. BUT..... having put the HTC ROM back the performance really, really does suck so I reckon I am going back to the i-mate option and will screw around with the MMS some more. If I get a definitive answer I will post here.
Finally.....
Ok, it turns out that I am something of an idiot as every time I tried to test the MMS I was typing in the connection settings incorrectly (one of those hand eye things, or the lack of!)......
In summary the JASJAM ROM works superbly on the TyTN device. There are one or two apps that will not run due to vendor locking (as most of you will already know) but on the whole it works perfectly.
To set the record straight (after all of you have looked at my recent posts and despaired) I have put together a custom EXTROM package that will install the necessary onto your device after you have flashed the JASJAM ROM onto it. In order to use it you need to flash the ROM and then soft reset just before the device runs the EXTROM (when it says 'Customizing in 3 seconds') and then unlock your EXTROM (see the wiki for details). Once you have unlocked your EXTROM put the contents of the zipfile into it and either run the Autorun exe or perform a hard reset (I prefer the Autorun option but it is up to you).
I HAVE tested this but only once or twice so pls use it at your own risk. On one of the occasions the MMS was not installed correctly so this was resloved by running the MMS CAB file from the EXTROM.
Daryan - good work
what cab files are included in your attachment?
I have had a lot of trouble with the MMS settings myself
I installed the relevant MMS cab file and it worked ok but on a soft reset the settings had gone!!
I left it overnight last night with the mms settings installed and when I came to it this morning, they remained after a soft reset!
I did a hard reset and reinstalled the MMS settings via the cab file and again they had gone after a soft reset!
For a final time, I did hard reset, reinstalled MMS cab, left for about 20mins, did soft reset and the mms settings remained.
Elsewhere peple on other devices have mentioned the need for the mms settings taking several minutes to be written to device memory. This appears to be true with my experiences with the tytn mms cab file.

The only cab files that are present are (and some of this is general presumption rather than accurate knowledge) the imate generic stuff such as audio / video drivers etc., the smartdialer, vendor specifics and the MMS install (expand the zip file for specifics)

This is not something that I experienced so can't comment but what I can say is that if you let the standard JASJAM EXTROM install after a flash or hard reset then the MMS feature is not installed straight away. You can get it to work by running the MMS CAB from the extended rom but this also allows the vendor locked cab files to attempt to run and this is an unknown variable. I recommend perform a fresh install (or hard reset) and stopping the EXTROM running by performing a soft reset after initial configuration (see above). Doing it this way seemed to go well.
This is very interesting results! I still haven't got a Vario II yet, but its something I will definitly be pestering my mum for, for a long time lol.
Anyway...
1. I see you use TCPMP, is there a good improvement in playback on this ROM ?
2. What version of the JASJAM ROM is this ?
3. Does the device freeze due to recharging like reported alot ?
4. Lastly... Does the normal stuff work.. Wireless, Bluetooth, Calling, etc...
Thanks v.much in advance!

Interestingly, I haven't had a chance to test the playback much even tho this is main reason I looked into switching the ROM! When I get a chance to play I'll let you know.
It is a cut down from version 1.18.255.3 07/22/06 (EXT ROM 1.18.255.106) which is the latest WWE version as far as I could tell
The answer to 3 is a no, not that I can tell at the moment.
The 'normal' stuff is all fine. I did quite a lot of research before moving to this ROM and the only probs I found mentioned were MMS (which I spoke about above) and WLAN which I have found to be working fine.
Thats great! Thanks!
Cool and let us all know how TCPMP does when your free, much appreciated!

HELP! How can I get these w/o installing default ExtROM?

I am using the Cingular 8525 and to avoid having Cingular junk installed after a hard-reset, I soft-reset the device after a successful hard reset. I.e. when the "installing in 3 seconds" notice shows up.
However, now that all the Cingular installation files are removed, I no longer have any of these:
- MMS Shortcut
- Smart Dialing in Phone app: this is the one that allows you to type if the name via the keypad (much like T9) and have the names listed
I have tried to install the files manually from the Cingular 1.34 ExtROM compressed file hosted in XDA Developer FTP site, but to no avail.
The ExtROM contains the following, and only the bold ones are the ones that I try to install to bring the above functionalities:
CAB: \Extended_ROM\MT_PC_Hermes_GenericLight_REG_060609.CAB
CAB: \Extended_ROM\MT_Shortcut-MMS-Hermes.CAB
CAB: \Extended_ROM\C_Cingular_GoodEmail_081606.sa.CAB
CAB: \Extended_ROM\C_getmail.ppc2005(HTC8100).ARMV4Rel.cingular.CAB
CAB: \Extended_ROM\C_HSDPA_Wirelss_Modem_Stall.cab
CAB: \Extended_ROM\C_Hermes_MobiTV.CAB
CAB: \Extended_ROM\C_GetTeleNav.CAB
CAB: \Extended_ROM\T_mm1lib_DLL.CAB
CAB: \Extended_ROM\PP_PIE_Default.CAB
CAB: \Extended_ROM\SMS_Setting_07Jun06.CAB
Please help. If I can't get the MMS shortcut and Smart Dialing, then there is no point in upgrading ROM since I'll be crippling the device to certain degree because it will not have the above functions.
OK, I am getting extremely frustated now. All I want is to get the MMS Shortcut and Smartdial on my Cingular 1.34 ROM.
I have installed the following (taken straight from the Cingular 1.34 ExtROM):
T_mm1lib_DLL.CAB
ShortString_Keypad_XML.CAB
MT_Shortcut-MMS-Hermes.CAB
MT_PC_Hermes_GenericLight_REG_060609.CAB (Smart Dialing)
I got SmartDialin to work. But NO MMS shortcut whatsoever! I installed the 1st three CAB above to get the MMS shortcut for 5 times in different order soft reset after EACH install, and NO MMS shortcut.
Those who have upgraded to the Cingular 1.34 and bypass the initial customization (soft reset after the 1st hard reset), please let me know how did you get the MMS Shortcut back. I assume there will be at least 20-30 people who have done this before.
No one knows how to fix the MMS shortcut for the CIngular 1.34 ROM? I guess no one is using Cingular ROM, then...
BTW, just FYI, any modification to the messaging program for some reason will get removed again, just like the MMS shortcut. For example, I installed Cingular XPress Mail (push email client) and the "Inbox" created by this application DISAPPEARED from Messaging application after 2 soft reset.
It looks like that Cingular and HTC have found a way to stop hacker from modifying the Extended ROM.

Download one and install the cabs you need.

I found that some of the CABs in the extended rom will not install if you try to install them manually, no matter how many times you run them. So, what I did was unlock my extended rom and just deleted the stuff I didn't want installed, then did a hard reset after that. Worked fine. (Personally, I wanted everything BUT MMS, but I'm sure if you delete the opposite of what I did, it'll work just as well)

I did that. As a matter of fact, I used the ExtROM mount cab to access the cabs directly.

That's interesting to know! I think it affects mostly on the Messaging application, since it also make Email accounts disappear, not just MMS.
If you don't mind, can you let me know the following:
1) Which .CAB file did you leave (not delete)? I assume they are the following:
a. MMS Shortcut
- T_mm1lib_DLL.CAB
- MT_Shortcut-MMS-Hermes.CAB
b. Smart Dialing
- ShortString_Keypad_XML.CAB
- MT_PC_Hermes_GenericLight_REG_060609.CAB (Smart Dialing)
2) When you delete the unncessary CAB files, did you have to modify the Config.txt in the ExtROM folder itself? This text file list all the CAB files that will be installed, seemingly in a particular order.

I wanted MMS out, s I deleted all the files that had MMS in their name. Sine you apparently WANT MMS, you should leave those in, and I guess delete whatever you don't want. Regarding the text file, I actually tested it both ways. If you edit i and clean it up, it'll work, but if you leave it as is, it won't complain and will just silently skip over the things it ca't find. So, basically, the only reason to clean up the removed files out of the config.txt file is for, um, aesthetic reasons. You don't have to, but if you feel better about it being clean, then go ahead

Just so I know I am doing the right thing, which of the CAB files did you leave it in, with the exception of MMS?
ONe major item I need is the Smart Dialing feature.

Getting mms to work, mogul was flashed

Hey guys i just bought a mogul on ebay and had it flashed to metro pcs, the internet, and gps work fine, i just cant get it send out mms like many of ur phones can, i dont have sprint picture mail, because i have metro service.
ANY HELP WILL BE GREATLY APPERICATED!!!!!
Did you install Arcsoft? If you did not, you might want to find a copy of it to intall on your phone.
Once you do, follow the directions below as a guideline.
Remove/Uninstall any existing MMS composer you have attempted to setup. Also a good idea to remove any registry keys it may have created that are left behind after the uninstall.
1: Install Arcsoft MMS version 5.0.70.24
2: Open your Messaging and click on the SMS/MMS option.
3: Click on "Menu" and select "MMS Options" then select the "Servers" tab.
4: Add a new server with the following settings:
Server Name: metropcs
Gateway: wap.metropcs.net
Port number: 3128
Server address: http://mms.metropcs.net:3128/mmsc
Connect via: SELECT EITHER THE CONNECTION YOU SETUP ABOVE OR "The internet"
Send limit: 399K
5: Click "Done" and then set the new server as default.
6: Using a Registry Editor edit the following values:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Arcsoft\ArcSoft MMS UA\Config\mm1\WspHeader]
DELETE KEY -> "X-VzW-MDN"
ADD STRING -> "X-metropcs-MDN"="XXXXXXXXXX" ( Insert your 10 digit phone Number )
ADD STRING -> "X-DEVICE-MIN"="1XXXXXXXXXX" ( Insert your 10 digit phone Number WITH the 1 in front of it )
Hope this helps nobale Metro PCS cousin...8)
*P.S.-- You might also want to find the Titan MMS fix CAB by CRwinger to help keep your MMS working properly. The reason is that when you open PIE it creates a registry key that will stop you from send/recieving MMS. The CAB file will automatically delete that file by pressing the messaging hard button on the top left of your Mogul.
Other alternative is not to use PIE and just use Opera.
PM me if you need any help, I'm with Cricket so we are almost in the same boat. 8)
mougl flashed to metro, mms problems
i'm really not smart when it comes to computers and pda, what is a pie and what is opera?
I'm pretty sure that PIE is something internet explorer. Opera is a mobile web browser. Probably one of the best since you can get youtube
mogul flash to metro, mms problem
ok i've located arcsoft mms 5.0.70.24, which on this forum, one do i download because i see beta and several other versions.
I use 5.0.31.19 myself. Any version after that or a beta is fine really. Its a trial and error of how well the software version you have works like you want it to.
Just DL anyone of them.
*Important--If anything back-up your phone just incase you need to do a hard reset. Use a program called PimBackup...its free.
As paintballinfl said:
PIE=Pocket Internet Explorer
Opera= A new browser for PDA's to view websites as if you are actually at your desktop.
mogul flashed to metro, problem with mms.
thanks, i had downloaded a older version, how do i delete the older program completely? i removed it from my phone but, what's a registry edit? and how do i do that before installing the new arcsoft?
You need to find phmReg Edit and use that program to do your registry edits...its free just google it.
Also if you already have a version of arcsoft installed use the guide to get MMS working for you on Metro PCS. If that version doesn't work for you do the advised below.
*If you want to change the version of arcsoft it is best to start from scratch and hard reset the device. Thats why i suggested you to do a back-up your phone. Also if a hard reset is needed please be careful because it will erase everything on the phone except the SD card.
So it goes like this:
install phmReg Edit-->install Arcsoft-->follow steps in guide
mogul flashed to metro pcs, mms problem.
THANK YOU GUYS... i'm able to send and receive picture and video mail, i just gotta get the titian cab fix or install opera, to keep it up.. what's the best opera version to install?
There are many builds out there but Opera build 2392 is good...seems to make it the default browser instead of PIE.
For example: When clicking on a link in a text message, Opera will open instead of PIE.
The Titan MMS fix by CRwinger I believe you might be able to find on PPCgeeks.
mogul flashed to metropcs, mms problems
Is it the mms cab fix for cricket? because i found that one, it was a choice between that one that the vougue fix. and if i choose the cricket fix will i have to redo all the setting back to metropcs? any link to the titian mms fix cab would be appreciated greatly!!! THANKS

[Q] Couple of 'bugs' after reset

Hi,
I had installed a new theme on my HD2 (Autumn V2), but I decided to change back to the default theme. I did a hard reset to start fresh, afterwards I installed a couple of CABs (BSB Tweaks, Disable Send Notification and Disable the clock flip). Now there are a couple of 'bugs' since the reset.
- If I delete the shortcut to the calendar on the slidebar on the bottom, the calendar is looking cheesy.
- When sending a text message, the left softkey says "Back" instead of "Send".
- In Windows Media Player I can slide the list to all sides, instead of scroll down only.
- My laptop (Windows 7) can't synchronize the phone anymore. Windows does recognize the phone (as diskdrive and as ActiveSync), but the sync program (default sync program on Windows 7) doesn't find any devices. At My Computer I'm able to acces my phone though.
I've done a hard reset earlier, and installed the same CABs, but these 'bugs' weren't there. Still running on the same ROM (Vodafone 1.72), don't know if the OS or Manila version changes after a hard reset?
Cheers,
Dirk
PS: I attached 3 screenshots to make the 'bugs' more clear.
