Hi all,
I've done a search but can't seem to find what I'm looking for.
Basically, before I followed the ROM upgrade by the author "SIN", when I closed programs by clicking on the "X", the program woudl really close and not be shown in "running programs". But after the ROM upgrade, even after closing the programs, the items are still showing in "runing programs."
Is there a way of making it really close the programs?
:?: :?: :?:
Its known problems of all PocketPC basic ROM's.
For solving use Spb Pocket Plus soft. It realy works.

Hi there again,
I've been doing a lot of reading and searching through the forum and I now understand a lot more about my XDA - luvverly...
But I have a couple of questions - I have looked I promise but I can't find anything.. If I've missed something please forgive me !
This is all based on the fact that I still haven't upgraded the ROM to 1.1 or PPC 2003 (I'm kind of waiting for 1.2! - looks exciting!).. Yes I know I should, but are these problems common to standard PPC 2002 and will get fixed or are there other answers ?
1) Is PPC 2002 software that I install compatible with PPC 2003 ? I've got a shedload of freeware that states PPC 2002 only - is it a case of it's just untested ?
2) Program stopping - this is a major pain, when I cradle the unit and ActiveSync kicks in, it errors with "unresolved" if I have programs running.. so I have to go into memory etc and stop everything before I cradle it... I'm still not sure I understand the concept of keeping the progs open when I've exited them - can anyone help me here ? Is it like having a service in NT ?
Sorry for all of the questions, I know I should upgrade, but I like to understand why I'm upgrading first, so I'd really appreciate any help you can give.
Oh and my number port still hasn't happened..............
Well don't all rush at once
I've sorted the brightness thing - it's to do with the background picture still being selected when I added a new theme... fairly basic stuff I realise..!
For Q1)
Most PPC2003 APP compatible with PPC2002, however some of them will cause fatal error on the machine -- Such as BatteryPack 2003 5.05 (or any version earlier). The machine will never bootup after installed the 5.05 version, except a hard-reset.
Another other example that didn't work with PPC2003 is Call2Pic, but we can use PhoneExt 1.2, which is a freeware and more powerful (if only for ringtone). XDA Phone skin chooser, Double Launcher, VITO Voice Dialer PE 2.5 work too.
By the way, all games I tried are compatible with PPC2003. Almost all media player work perfectly with PPC 2003 too, except PocketMVP.
I think it is a very good percentage of compatible software for a new OS update.
Lotus EasySync Pro doesn't work.
Just a note to add to the list. EasySync Pro does NOT work under 2003. It's what forced me back to XDADev 1.1 since I have to be able to Sync with my Lotus Notes system at work.

excellent news - thanks chaps !!
I'm clearly in the presence of people that are far more knowledgable than I, and although I wouldn't claim to be a developer I do know my way round a unix box and also work with high-end music apps (unique wav files anyone?) so I'll be glad to offer any assistance I can, whilst learning the more intricate aspects of this wonderful machine...
cheers again...
Novosec Pocket Facelift works but has problems witht he skinned taskbar. sux cuz its a nice taskbar. other than that its fine.
does anyone know whats the name of an application is called that allows you to change your screen layout from landscape to portrait and vice versa. I tried the NYDITOT Virtual Display and well that crapped my system and it caused me to re-install everything. I saw it once when I installed the XdA2JoJo.v3.2zS it seemed to have it in it. It was a simple app that when clicked would change the way your PDA/MDA, Himalaya device projected. Please help because the NYDITOT is a pain in the well you know where. Thank you to anybody who answers and for any help which I receive.
before the wm2003se rom came out this topic has been considered a hot one. i myself have used nyditot and jslandscape in the past; fortunately i didn't buy the software and used only the trial versions. both apps made my unit hang / freeze up thus resulting in a hard boot. i'm not sure about the others getting either apps to work; but i did read in one of the posts that xda2 was incompatible (??) :?: in my opinon unless you're using the wm2003se rom; then you're in for a struggle in finding the app to change your screen orientation without a glitch.
cheers
When I try to run some programs, the only thing that happens is that the screen changes from landscape to portrait. Then NOTHING else happens. The program does not run and it does not show up in "Running Progams".
Here is an example program: PocketJig: http://www.lenagames.com/pj_files/pjig20.exe
I don't know if the program will not run in WM6 or if I have a REG problem.
Any ideas?
Many thanks.
Note: PocketJig is shareware and is shown here for example only. I you actually use the program, please register it.
Looked at the PocketJig site and it does not say it supports WM6 then again it does not say it does not I would recommend you contact the author of the software and inquire.
When I bought the program the author wrote to thank me. When I wrote to her about WM6 I never heard back from her.
The registery for that program calls up getrealdpi.exe before it calls up pjig.exe. It may be that pjig.exe is never actually called to run.
Most other programs do not have a call to getrealdpi.exe. That's why I think it may be a REG problem.
Try starting it up in portrait. I have a program that will not run at all if started while in lansdcape mode, but runs perfectly well if I'm in portrait mode when starting it.
Running in portrait MAY have been slightly better. At least the name of the program flashed onto the top of the screen for about 0.1 of a second and then shut down as usual.
Thanks for the suggestion.
Can anyone here try to install trial version of pocketdos from here http://www.pocketdos.com
I'd like to know if that works at all on s740 so then I can keep trying to search for reason why it fails to start up on my phone.
I'm only asking here because we have here high concentration of s740 users around and because original developer seems to be not answering to me on his official forum.
So symptoms are: It can be installed just fine, but when I start app nothing happens. In task manager it shows up on "processes" list, but it does not appear in applications list
Ok, I've tried searching the forums to see what these are but I can't find the explanations. So, what is Manila, Titanium, Rhodium, PagePool? If there is a site with this info i'd appreciate it. Since I highly doubt Sprint will release Windows 6.5 for the Touch Pro (I hope they do though), I'm seriously thinking about flashing a custom ROM but before I do, I'm trying to do as much research as possible. Any and all help is appreciated.
any one??????
I am not an expert so maybe someone can give you a more detail explanations but here is what I know...
Manila is TouchFlo3D, it is a Tab based system that basically masks Windows Mobile. You can turn it off and use just windows mobile if you prefer.
Rhodium is TouchFlo3D2, it is similar just has a few enhancements. A couple additional tabs and a few extra features...Five day forecast, search internet, calendar...
Titanium is something developed by windows that is similar in function to TF3D but looks completely different. It allows you to operate your phone with your thumb, for the most part. I believe this only comes with WM6.5, not sure tho.
PagePool...I have no idea, never heard of it.
Thank You Gators, that cleared up lot of my confusion. Does anyone know detailed differences between them, and what is pagepool?
Pagepool I believe is an amount of the devices RAM that's set aside at boot for the pagefile (swap file) only. Usually I'm seeing 16-24MB for these lately, which really makes the phone fast, at the expense of having a few less programs open before it runs out of memory.
