so far i have been pretty content with my configuration, which is as follows:
qtek 2020
rom version - 1.72.00WWE
rom date - 03/15/04
radio version - 1.14.00
protocol version - 1337.24
ext rom - 1.72.126
the softwares i've been using are:
xda-developers ext. rom unlocker
vasilenok's vbirthday 3.2 gold
spb pocket plus
spb full screen keyboard
smartphone studio for sms syncing & backup
i havent found any topic which address all issues related to upgrading..therefore many would find feedbacks on this topic useful
1. will all these softwares and more work on 2003se? or do we have 2 download diff. versions?
2. how stable is the 2003se? and which rom is the best?
3. how is the battery usage?
4. will it sync with a pc running on win98se?
5. MOST IMPORTANT , i have backed up my sms's using smart phone studio (tried jeyo, doesnt work on my pc) will i be able to restore them if i upgrade to 2003se? i dont want 2 lose my sms!
6. in case i want 2 downgrade back to my current version , can i do so?
i would be glad if experts in this forum cud clarify all these issues and more in this 1 topic,

Last time when I was upgrading my I-Mate, the difference between Arabic and English versions was only in sku1 and sku2.
And now, do you think they changed minor version just to show the Arabization incorporation to ExtRom?
For those who download Arabic version: Please, provide some device info (rom, radio and ext, ppc) after this (167) upgrade. Thanks in advance!

There are allready many threads on this.
But to conclude:
If you don't have any issues with your current version: stay with it.
You might consider 1.72 (the Qtek or iMate versions, NOT the T-Mobile beta) especially when:
1. You need certain Bluetooth options (ie serial port protocol) and don't want to mess around with hacks or extra 'tools'
2. Battery life is important
For me these points were enough to DO the upgrade (coming from 1.63 T-Mobile NL). And very happy with it.
Keep in mind that (unless you find a 1.72 from your own operator) you will have quite some work with getting all the customisations right.
One of these days I will post a good working set (no issues in a month holiday!!) of customisations to be used as a an extended rom for T-Mobile NL
i'm currently using the T-Mobile ROM v1.72WWE had no problem with it. the batt life was improved noticeably. I was using the O2 ROM v1.66WWE
as for my bluetooth i'm using the widcomm BT-PPC/PE v1.0.0 build 1400. no problems with it except that it turns off whenever i set my phone to standby mode.

1.72 ROM Editing the Connectivity
Hi, I am v happy with the 1.72 ROM... I have successfully added my local GPRS setting for my operator.
but ... I can't edit my ISP GPRS settings.
In the select network, edit My ISP, the existing connections doesn't show up to allow me to edit the settings. No exisiting connection to "tap" on!?

i have 'salad rom' with asian flavour(Included 'auto configuration' & 'o2 connect) and happy with it.
rom 1.72WWE, radio 1.17, ext.rom 1.72.900 (main rom by Qteq, radio by T-mobile, ext.rom by edsubsoft).
untill now ;
phone, gprs, activesync, run program, MS BT stack, sms, mms ........are running well. (maybe i am lucky with it)
keep to my salad untill SE come out.

Most of the post regarding ROM Salads and customizations are beyond what I wish to perform on my device. To dat I have only loaded T-Mobile ROM upgrades that required nothing more than loading them automatically. I currently have the T-Mobile U7K Beta on my MDA II.
Can someone please explain the following:
1. Is there another T-Mobile 1.72 WWE available that I can load, non-beta?
2. I see other Custom ROMs on this site that state T-Mobile. Can I simply load those automatically or will I have to get into country ID, .nbf files, etc?

I'm looking for an official T-Mobile 1.72 ROM, si I can get rid of the 1.72 Beta, or I'm looking for someone's custom ROM that I can load just like I could an official one. In other wors the custom I suppose would be ok, but I do not want to mess around with opeing the ROM and disecting and changing certain settings. Like I say, it just may not be out there.

I managed to get an o2 xda 2,it is the first time I have ever seen a pda up close let alone owned one!!
The details for the device are:-

Rom Ver: 1.03.00 usa
Rom Date: 09/24/03
Radio Ver: 1.05.12
Protocol Ver: 1337.12
Microsoft Pocket PC Ver: 420.1081 (Build 13100)
At present locked to O2 UK (I am in UK)
I want to primarily use this with Tomtom in the car.I installed TT 5.021 ok but could not get it (TT) to connect with my Holux slim.I guess that the pda is pretty much as was original,so could maybe benefit from an upgrade.
A member over at AVForums suggested this Forum,so here I am .
As you may appreciate,there are many very long threads on here,and after awhile,it makes my brain ache ,but I hope I have gleaned what is necessary.
Anyway,my proposed upgrade:-
1. Unlock with OLD xda2unlock
2. TOFCLOCK HIMA WM6 AKU.0.7.0
CE OS 5.2.1908 (Build 18508.0.7.0)
Radio Ver: 1.17 at the same time (put in same folder as Rom I believe)
3. Run Patched/Fixed/Updates
Fixed MMS Client or Patch If Already Installed:
Arcsoft MMS Client 4.2.8.1 (new Install)

not sure about your gps but if it's wired all you have to do may be
to disable auto recieve beams to free out that com port
there is no general issue with older roms and gps's
could just be a setup issue

I´ve got a Himalaya with an actual WM6.5 Custom Rom
It looks nice and is fast and stable....
but be careful on choosing the Rom,a lot of Spb Programms should Installed
on the Main Storage- a Lot of the newer ROMs have only 14mb Main Storage
(thats because of Switching the Main Storage from RAM to the Flash Disk,RAM Data disappear if the Battery is empty,Flash is non volatile,)
IMPORTANT!!!TAKE THE TIME (!!!!!) AND READ THE INSTRUCTIONS HOW TO FLASH THE DEVICE ,TO AVOID UNNECESSARY BRICKING!

It´s always difficult to flash your first rom (yeah...good old times)
but....just stay cool and calm....and read read read DOOD!
