WM2005 Sounds - MDA II, XDA II, 2060 ROM Development

All those who have installed WM2005 and love the pretty sounds... here are the wav files for your stable and MMS-ing 2003 devices.

impressive
thanks alot dude!!!!
I have WM2003SE,, can i just overwrite the old files with these files?
Thanx

install
yes, copy these to the \Windows directly and overwrite any existing files -- of course you can make a backup first if you would like to keep your current sounds!

Uh, I guess I should backup the 2003 sounds when changing to Magneto...

thanks man.....

Yeah, a simple overwrite will do the work
Thanks man, the sounds are really cooooooool 8)

Thank and as my gift back I made a cab that can be used in cooked Roms it just installs the sounds, no biggie, but...

hey great work making those cabs....
can i ask which program you used for making the cabs
thanks

thats a nice CAB
thank you..

Glad you like it, I have a few more of these type of cabs I may share also if there is interest...

coooooooool... it would be nice if u share 8)

please share.. especially something that would let the settings be like how we want it..like button lock..back light and powersettings etc

it funny you bring up stuff like setting, I am working on that very thing, I am trying to 1) find where all the setting are in the system for such things and backlight, sounds, ect 2) build a package that I can put in my rom or on my SD card for then I hard reset that will resetup my device ( I hard reset once a week, just cause I tinker too much)

that would be great 8)
wow, u do hard reset every week

I play around with it, chopping up the registry and such, I find the device very stable when I an not messing with it. I hard reset for the fun of it, and to see how different apps affect each other, what does and does not work... I keep it running on week days, but when the weekend comes I move my sim to my backup phone and all bets are off

i hard reset once a week or more.. same reason as above

lol
I do hard reset every 3 months or so....
I like to play around with registry & appz, but I do backup before doing this, and then restore it back
A hard reset is a nightmare to me, cus i have plenty of appz installed!!

I want those sounds from WM2003
Hi everyone, i have a new OS on my XDA2 but i did not like the sounds from WM2005.
On Wm2003 are some pretty sounds and i want them, Did anyone have them?

i tried to replace them by putting the new sound into the \windows folder. but it says here
'Cannot copy "Default' : Access is denied. Make sure the disk not full or write-protected in use.
i'm sure my disk is not full. so how can i replace the file now?

Finally Arabizer working on Magneto WM 2005,

finally i got the most turn off things i faced in 2005 to back me up to 2003 but after i installed 2005 for the 4th time & desided to stick with it untill i either solve the problem or microsoft will post solution
1. Etisalat Settings for mnet & MMS
(everytime you install them they somehow crash the original DB of messaging where you will not be able to open your mesages anymore untill you do a format
2. and most importantly Arabic reading writing
after long time spent to fix those problems i finally got them working, see screen shoots
yeah ok , great but how u fixed the issues ?
lol am sorry it was a bit hard, & even worse to explain, i writing down something that might help people around doing it once i find an easy way to make it accesseble to people

Post a cab or tell us what you modified in the registry!!!
Waiting, thanks! :?
Oh something else I noticed the radio rom is 1.08.00, can you dump it?
PC) folder, take a copy of your registry after pasting the file & before softreseting the the device, then reset your device, if it will ask you then if you want to run few DLL files acept all of them, then take another copy of your registry & store it in a differant file, now go to your programs & you'll find arabizer file there in which one of them is english name, another one is arabic as '7ayarat & the 3rd one is arabic letters but mirrored in reverse, this will be always your indication if arabic is now working fine, click on this file, it will load couple of other DLLs but will give you some error message about an AOP????? file, don't mind it, now got to your control panel, (Setting) of your mobile & go to the settings Tab, again it will ask you to load some file.cpl say yes, soft reset your device with a software for soft reset not through the pen, then it will load, if you get an error about some file couldn't be loaded just reset few times & it should work, if you lost you signal in gsm, load the first registry file & softreset your mobile again, it will ask you to load some dll file again accept them then go to the settings to load the cpl file, then reset , if this doesn't work load the second resitry file & do the same proccess untill the file with the names reversed is corrected, now enjoy arabic on your system.
اود التنبية على انني لست مسؤلا عن اي مشكلة تطرأ على جهازك و العملية متعبة جدا
PS. if some get this way working for him i please him to put it in a simplified way because unfortunatly i have too little time to spare on rewriting it in an organized way, but once it worked i had to post it here because this is the best site in the world for PPC's & they deserve the best
Thanks mate I'll give a try later on
now that's interesting , thank u
anyone tried it guys am intrested to know
i think the secret is in the registry integrity & the file loading proccess, if you load the arabic files first after reseting the device they will affect the memory or the gsm loading, specifically the file CPROG.EXE which don't get loaded correctly, actually this is how i found i can fix arabic if i only get it loading after cprog & not before, thats why you put the files manually without the setup file so after you reset the device & when it asks you to load the dll files it will insert it in the registry after loading the cprog not before
guys i heared someone tried it withought backing up the registry & it worked perfectly fine, remaining only is the camera & record button & this should be it for me
i think the camera is the last problem , buttons are working fine 8)

sadly it didnt work for me,the device kept hangings on the splash screen,I tried it with wireless on and off, i did hard reset 5 times (2 with clear registery option) but nothing worked,I also upgraded to Radio 1.17 but still didnt work,I couldnt find out what's going wrong (I get prompt to overwrite 3 files while copying them into windows folder) WM2005 1.50h, Radio 1.14 then 1.17
well am not sure but regarding the hard reset only do the clear registry hive option without the format,
hi guys!
we are working for the localize Himlaya WM5.0 to Chinese and Japnese.
On the previouse OS, we need Font and registry, and also need wince.nls which support to encoding to our languages.
without replacement wince.nls, the inbox and IE cant encode to ours.
Usual, we got the wince.nls which has our lamguge support from the device of Japanese or chinese, or take from SDK emulator, or make it ourseleves with MS Platform Builder.
Till the version of WM2003se, easy to replce it.
But new OS of WM5.0, replacement of wince.nls can not be effected, even it was replaced firmly. the OS seems to be ignor that!
@On the Himalaya WM5.0, Some version such like 1.6b, 1.6h, 1.6i can get encooding with new wince.nls, but other version of WM5.0, it was not be able...cant find the reason yet.
@On the Blue Angel WM5.0, also it was ignored by OS
@On the Jasjar just we got, also it was ignored..........
We need find some solution of this system which ignore the replacement of wince.nls.
i already work for that more than 5days ........
I think to localize to Alabian, you guys will have same problems.
Example some of you can replace wince.nls, some of you can not get it.
so if you got some information, please exchange it about that, of course we also let you know if we got it!
Thanks guys!
following is our thread about localize to Chinese / Japanese..
You may know what happened on new OS.

yes. I am using WM5 1.60C WWE, I can not replace the wince.nls in rom with new one.
this is again a simplified version of installing arabic in your WM2005, just install both attached cabs in there sequence & everthing should be working fine
PS am not resposible if it crashes your device but so far it haven't crashed min
to Replacement wince.nls
PLS install this cab,
and place your wince.nls onto \Temp folder
then soft reset. you can replace wince.nls
<exactry saying, not relace.enable to read wince.nls from \Temp frolder>

its the same as my earlier version but before people comlaint about arabic keyboard not getting installed & the need of using a 3rd party arabic keyboard for it to work, also some people had trouble over writing few files & so HOPFULLY this makes the installation far more easier untill Mr Imaginet company decides to develop a fully intergrated 2005 arabizer
Imaginet already created the arabizer for 5.0, but they didn't release it yet as you can see in the JasJar arabized version, we have a new built of arabizer

possible stupid question about ext rom

i couldnt find this covered in the wiki, or maybe i misread or overlooked.. After you unlock and unhide the ext rom on 1.04 can you write to it and not corrupt it? coming from the wizard this was a very very bad thing to do, but seems like from what i have read that i can actually write to this one, just need confirmation?
and yes i already know how edit the txt file, etc...
not a stupid question shogunmark. neither have i read about that in the wiki but there are threads talking about that.
i myself have unlocked and mounted the ext rom using fit4cat and have removed all files in it after backing them up to the storage card. i now have number of apps installed on it, enjoying the additional 10M space, and it's working fine without any issues. i've been using it like that almost for a month now but nothing is corrupted.
in addition, i was doing the same with my universal dopod 900 and have installed number of apps and skin/icon files to the ext rom.
ok cool, on the wizard that would corrupt your ext rom... mainly cause you couldnt unlock it but could write to it... aside from installing apps, what about adding cabs to install with the initial 3second customization..
like for example..
lets say i unlock/unhide the ext rom
i add cab file 123.cab
then edit the txt file with CAB: \Extended_ROM\123.cab
then lock the ext rom back up.. now when i hard reset would it install the cab file???
if that works on the hermes then i am in love.. it was a pain on the wizard, had to create a new image then flash it to the phone, etc.. PAIN IN THE A$$

unfortunately, that doesn't seem to work. what i heard is that the cab file to run with autorun and config.txt needs the htc signature. if you can get it from htc you may... still pain in the b$$
well what you may actually need is a cab to disable the security to allow non-certified apps to install.. i know on the other ext roms thats a must or else the other cabs wont install.. was usually the first thing i installed on my cooked wizard roms.. i dunno, i havent dove into this yet, and dont know if i will get time tonight

then, how would you get around with running that security patch cab with no signature to start with? or do you already have that sorted out somehow?

sure thing, i just copied everything over.. will hard reset on my way to bed and post my results when i wake up...
so here is what i have determined.. my test so far has failed... however i can say that unlocking the ext rom, making changes on the config.txt, then locking it and doing hard reset does work (which makes me very excited!) however for some reason the signed remove security cab doesnt seem to want to install without user input.. hmmmm there has to be a way..
shogunmark: I looked into this some time ago and couldn't find a solution. Hermes only allows to install signed cabs, and the signed cabs used on wizard and universal to disable security do not work on the hermes. If you look at it more deeply and find a solution let me know

thanks for the insight... lets start with this question.. what is different in signed security cabs between the wizard and the hermes.. what makes them different that they wouldnt run... they should in theory be ok when signed, something has to make them different
it should be either one of this (or both):
1. the certificate used to sign the wizard / universal disable-security cab is not installed on hermes
2. the method used to dissable security on hermes is different from wizard / universal devices
Should not be very difficult to figure out. I have no time now, but can probably have a look at it later this week.

#1 sounds more feasable than #2 and here is my reasoning behind it..
#2 when i installed the disable security cab from the wizard i was able to run cabs and programs that werent signed without notification, so the process sounds similiar, i just havent broken the cab yet and looked at it to compare processes and reg edits used when disabling, i will try to break it down tonight

Cingular 8525 ext rom - which cabs are needed?

heya, I noticed a whole lot of useless programs that I dont use from the ext. rom that ships with the cingular 8525..
I know from my previous phones I'm able to hardboot and when that message comes up.. something like "installing custom components in 3 seconds.." one would do a softreset and that installation shouldnt come up again right?
well I was wondering what cab files were needed so I can install only the needed ones.. ie mms/wifi setup files, etc.
Anyone know? Thanks!
Dunno if you ever got your answer, but I can guarantee you that when I get mine tomorrow, it's one of the first things on my list of things to do. I know that 90% of the crap that Cingular puts on there I have no need for..
If someone figures this out let us all know. i too wanna try to play around with some other ROM's to see which works best with my configuration.
I upgraded from a TyTN to the Cingular ROM
I did the reboot thing so that I did not get the "value-add" stuff from Cingular after I let it do its normal thing. What I found out was that if I did not do the reboot thing, the "value-add" stuff from Cingular changed the keyboard mapping so that I could not figure out what keys the special characters were on. When I hard setup again, I rebooted and the keyboard works great. The only thing is, you have to put in all the information in the connection menu.
There's 2 times that the 3 sec screen pops up.
Does the keymapping work correctly if you let the first one run and do the reset before the second one?
Well I just tried my suggestion above and everything works great.
I let the first install run, and then just after the second 3 sec. pop-up window, I reset.
Then I used Total Commander to install everything but GetGood, ExpressMail, MobileTV, and TelNav.
I ended up with more user memory.

Sorry, I didn't see the exact before and after.
It looked like I gained a little over 1mb.
What exact cabs in the \Windows\ folder are needed to install in order to fix the keyboard? I just hard reset my 8525 and the "-" and "_" show up as " and +
Exact file names please

What was the "other stuff" you had to self install? I am contemplating this procedure but am not sure if it gives me enough storage space to justify a hard reset and reinstall of everything?

anyone tried this yet.
Does doing a hard reset alter the application free settings or anything else, for that matter?
Just checked and Folder 3 is showing empty when I unzip it onto my PC before transfering. Is this correct?
also, having unzipped the files I am also unable to delete the sound file. It tells me one of the files is in use?
Are we sure the Crossbow tweak works on the Monet and that none of these files is corrupted?

Just aout of interest is this Only a 'LOOKS' thing or does it add more useful features?
Perhaps I did it wrong but when I unzip the files I end up with 3 folders (Numbered 1-3) PLUS one called Sounds.
Thanks for the theme
The theme worked in my startrek. But, i don't see the alarm icon on whenever i reboot the phone though i set the alarm on. Any idea?
i have tried this on my monet, the first time i followed the instructions as listed here only to fine the phone hangs making strange noises after the sim code screen.
i have carried out a hard reset on my phone and tried again, this time using only the shelres dll from the first folder, no other dll's but all the other files,
i restarted the phone and it started fine however there was nothing in the start menu - one quick restart and all the new icons are present.
looks lovely
thanks
It also worked great on my Qtek 8500, without any problems at all!
Thank you very much!
EDIT: Well, the alarm icon does disappear when I reboot, but as I had WM2003 before,
I'm kind of used to not see the alarm icon on the homescreen! LoL!

Microsoft myPhone password.....

Ok, so I've been flashing my phone alot, so Microsoft's Myphone has been an invaluable app (you have NO idea how much it pains me to say that). So I've been looking into Shashimi and other auto-install stuff, but I'm wondering where my login/pass is stored on my phone for Myphone. It doesn't appear to be a registry entry. There are some dat files there, but I would have no idea which file to backup. Figuring this out would make flashing new roms super quick and easy to get your data back up (as well as if you had to dump to a clean rom while away from your PC). Any insight would be helpful!
-Todd
I have only found the username in the registry so far I have a few ideas on how to extract the password but not sure if they will work. Am quite busy cooking ROMs at the mo so if I do find a solution I will let you know

There are some dat files there, but I would have no idea which file to backup. Figuring this out would make flashing new roms super quick and easy to get your data back up (as well as if you had to dump to a clean rom while away from your PC). Any insight would be helpful!

first sometimes the password is encrypted so it my look different but when you can do is a hard reset then look at the time right before you enter your user/PW then look at the dat files that have been modified around at that time then move not copy those files over to the storage card then reopen the app if it has your user/PW then thats not it if it asks you to renter it then it is it. hope this helps
