i can't restore my last backup witch i was do it after upgrading
i'm suring for that, plaese try that then help meeeee
i'm waiting for you
That's right, you can't restore the backup you made with the old ROM version.
The backup software sees your machine as another device.
Just reinstall the software you had on it and resync Outlook, should be no big problem.
Best thing to do if you want to upgrade, is copying al the documents that are on you XDA and are not synced to your PC.
You could go back to the old ROM, restore your backup, copy the items you need and upgrade again.
i've recently aquire a starmap-amena XDAII and want to backup the default rom: 1.72.03ESN for future downgrade due to garanty.

Hi all,
Sorry if this has been covered elsewhere, i've had a look round but couldn't see anything.
Is there a way to backup or extract my current O2 UK Rom? I totally srewed my motherboard last time i tried to use another rom on my xda orbit as it wasn't cid unlocked. doh! Anyway i've had my motherboard replaced by O2 and was planning to get my device CID unlocked and install another rom but i would like a backup of the original O2 UK Rom just in case it all goes pair shaped.
Oh yeah forgot to mention that i currently use spb backup to backup my device but i dont think you can restore the image from the bootloader menu.
Thanks in advance.

XDA Atom Backup
1. Run an upgrade (until the first screen where it says extracting... blahblah) without connecting your phone into your PC
2. Open the directory C:\Windows\Temp
3. you will see all files needed for upgrade including the fresh clean ROM. (they are hidden so you should set your folders setting to view hidden files.)
4. Save your personal settings on your phone using standard backup software like Spb Backup or Sprite Backup.
5. Now you're ready to flash your device!
Cheers!
i had the original 2.08 rom on my mogul, and i updated to the sprint 2.17 rom, then did a restore of files/settings using sprite backup, now my rom shows 2.08 again (in device information) but the date of the 2.17 rom (11/18/07) and radio 1.47.01
is there a registry setting or file i can edit to make it reflect the actual rom version?
Restore of a backup from a previous ROM version over top of a new ROM version is a VERY bad idea; it will overwrite the registry and other system files with the old version. Sprite Restore usually gives a warning if you attempt to do this. Your best bet is to reinstall the 2.17 ROM and then only restore the data, not the system files, from your Sprite backup. Sprite Restore also has a ROM upgrade option, but I find it better to manually choose the data to restore.
i used the rom upgrade option, everything works the way it should, all the bufixes from the new rom are defiantely there, i just figure it overwrote some registry entry with the old version number
as for just restoring data, i have a ton of programs installed, do WM programs usually need registry keys or files outside of their install directories to run? if not just restoring the data would work, but id hate to have to reinstal all my apps again after a rom upgrade
heh, dont know why i didnt think of it before, searched the registry and found a key in HKLM\SOFTWARE\OEM\ with the rom version, so i changed it to reflect the new rom
i suppose you can change it to 666.1337 if you want, lol
