Can't Sync ??? HELP!!!!! - MDA, XDA, 1010 General

I am using an XDA upgraded to WM2003SE. It has been working great for 2 weeks with some minor gliches here and there. Suddenly today it will not sync. Tried soft and Hard resets to no avail. Can some one make a suggestion?

Dear tsuyokikan,
I think your information is not sufficient. Please check your outlook whether it is still active and that the sync account (account that you choose to sync your XDA with outlook) is still accessible. My gut is that the problem may not root in your XDA device, so do also check the outlook functionality.
Any progress on this, please tell me. HTH
Cheers,
Ken

Dear Ken_xda,
It appears to be some kind of issue with the phone. I had recently upgraded to Active sync 4.0 and was able to sync once and that is when all the trouble started. I even tried removing Activesync from my PC and reloading it. When I attempt to sync the sync software comes on and makes the connection sound but my XDA does not respond with the connection sound like it had previously. Thanks for any help you can provide.
Sincerely
Jeremy

As much as i know, WM2003SE does not start automaticly on the Wallaby device.
Have you tried to run it manually on your device?
Stefan

Stefan
Yes, I did try that. I simply do not understand this. It had been working totally fine and then it just went whacky.

Still Can't Sync?????
Have benn working on trying to sync all afternoon. Iread the owners manual, tried setting up new syncs and nothing works. I did find an error message on the XDA under Activesync which reads: Unable to connect. Verify your dialup or proxy settings are correct, and try again. Does anyone have any ideas?

It looks like its trying to connect to internet.

In my Navbar under connectivity it shows my phone service and then under that it says The Internet and net to that it says PC connection. Could this be my problem? If so how do I change it so I can Sync again. Thanks in advance for any help.
Jeremy

activesync 4 problem with wm2005

Hope some one can help me with this one....
I have wm2005 on a spv m1000 (o2 xds2) running no problems, everything is great, BT, phone, activesync via cradle etc etc
big problem i have is i cannot get my contacts and calendar to sync from outlook (2003 sp1)
i keep getting error coming up, support code 85010014 with a little while exclamation mark in a red circle next to my activesync icon.
I can explore the pda but for some reason cannot sync with it... ?
please help otherwise i'll have to revert back to me 2003se....
Here's another interesting problem. I can sync perfectly in the office, but the device is not recognized at home. I've upgraded to Act Sync 4.0 and Act Sync recognizes the old PDA from my wife (only once, but it will start each time) but it doesn't recognize my WM2005. Looking in network connections using use server-assigned IP address it indicates that it is not connected. However putting the device into the cradle gives a ping on the PC. I've looked into the device manager on the PC looking for the Act Sync dll under hidden devices but couldn't find it. There was some strange sign in there which I took out, but now I get the message that Wbutton.sys is missing (maybe somebody can mail it to me) but I can't imagine that this is the reason why it won't work. I've reinstalled Act Sync a couple of times without succes. So after reading the forums for quite some time now I'm without any clue at this point and I could do with some practical advice :?
WM2005 + Outlook
Heres another for you.
I upgraded to WM2005 and activesync 4 and it would sync everything from outlook 2003 no problem then for no reason it just stopped and displays the 85010014 error. Tried reinstalling activesync removing all traces and even reflashing with a newer version of wm2005 with no luck.
I've just been playing around with exchange server and syncing my phone directly to it over wifi (bypassing pc activesync) and it worked briefly, now it comes up with an error message saying "activesync encountered a problem on the server (with a support code: 0x85010014).
Seems to me that its a problem on the phone rather than activesync on pc.
Anyone have any suggestions?

Update !!
reset xda2 back to wm2003 then went back to wm2005 and everything was fine !!!!
really weird that !, never mind, must have been an install error,
BTW :- Buzz's max ram version of wm2005 is excellent !
I have had some weird AS4 probs too, but if I temporarily disable my zonealarm firewall, it works fine every time.
yes disable windows firewall ... solved my problem (wm2005 AS4(via usb))
Same prob. here. At first had a prob. with driver. Had to install ActiveSync 4 before upgrading to WM5. ActiveSync 4 with WM2003SE works just fine. Syncing with upgraded WM5 device is a No-Go.
Am looking into it. Keep you posted!
Any help is welcome. Tim.

Same prob here with Zone Alarm, the connection isn't getting picked up as a new program for some reason so it doesn't ask for permission through the firewall.
Looking forward to a solution!
I can't revert back to WM2003 after flashed WM2K5. The HimaUpgradeUt waited too long, and then showed MODEL ID ERROR.
How can I force it to return to old 2003 version? Thanks

Just add the ip address and sub net of your xda into Zone Alarm and it will work fine. Did for me.
I recently upgraded my PDA2k to WM5 along with the new AS4.0 Beta, and recieved the same 85010014 error. I found the resolution through a thread regarding the same error code on the Internet. Typically, I choose "Work Offline" when I start Outlook. The thread directed me to connect directly to my Exchange server for the first sync. Afterwards, I was able to sync while in my typical "Work Offline" mode.
Hope this helps.
I solved my ActiveSync problem with Error 85010014.
I also run Eudora and Incredimail Plugin for Outlook on both PCs, Work and Home. Both are on XP Pro SP2 and when I installed ActiveSync 4.1 on my work PC without issue, I decided to attack my Home PC Outlook installation to see if I could resolve the issue.
So, At home:
Putting Outlook in Offline mode did not solve the problem.
I uninstalled ActiveSync 4.0 and installed ActiveSync 4.1 - No difference.
I backed up Outlook via 3rd party program to grab account settings as well as my 2GB pst file then ran Help->Detect and Repair... - reboot, no difference.
I then ran Control Panel -> Add or remove Programs -> Office 2003 and chose to modify my installation by adding or removing components. I unchecked Outlook and updated it to remove Outlook from my Office 2003 suite. Then returned to this option and re-checked Outlook to add it back to my Office 2003 Suite, CD-Rom in hand but updating, it did not ask for the Office 2003 Install CD-Rom... - Rebooted and connected - Bingo NO 85010014 error!

ActiveSync 4.2 and 4.5 not seeing device...

Ran into a problem. My ActiveSync wouldn't recognize my device. It's showing up within Device Manager but when I connect it no go.
ActiveSync knows something is being connected because it starts to do it's thing but then errors out and cannot establish a connection with my Athena.
Anyone else run into this problem?
I've uninstalled/reinstalled ActiveSync 4.2 AND 4.5. Checked to ensure that the services that ActiveSync depends on are running, etc.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

you are not running Windows Vista are you?
No. Running Windows XP Pro.
It was working a bit flakey at first. I had an HTC TyTN synching perfectly on ActiveSync 4.5. When I got my Advantage in, I hooked it up and it acted a bit weird but trying to hurry and get my phone up and running I avoided setting up the relationship so it was a "guest". I installed software onto my Advantage without a problem. Later, once I got my stuff migrated from TyTn to Advantage, I deleted all existing relationships in ActiveSync then tried to join the Advantage to it and it knows the phone is there but won't establish a profile with it. Did a repair on 4.5, didn't work. Uninstalled/reinstalled 4.5, didn't work. Uninstalled 4.5 and installed 4.2 (the version on the CD), didn't work. Researched ActiveSync and noticed that one of the dependent services was stopped...I activated this service, rebooted...didn't work. ActiveSync uses a TCP/IP port to listen on so I did "telnet 127.0.0.1 xxxx" where xxxx is the port and it's there listening, so requests can be accepted.
I'll probably try hard resetting my device this weekend if no one has any recommendations. Once I find the answer I'll post it here.
Possible causes are:
- Corrupt ActiveSync on laptop. An uninstall/reinstall should have resolved this unless the unlerlying OS files that ActiveSync utilizes are corrupt and those weren't repaired/replaced during the reinstall.
- Corrupt ActiveSync on phone. Can't be uninstalled/reinstalled to my knowledge without a hard reset so not much I can do.
- Maybe the GPRS monitor I installed caused a problem. I initially installed the one that came on the CD but had to remove it because it kept locking up the phone and slowing things down significantly.
Are you running BitDefender as your AV/Firewall? A recent update prevents ActiveSync from working correctly. see link:

No. Not running either. I did a hard reset and it started working again. Then a few days later the same thing happened again. Not sure exactly what the problem is but since I already did a hard reset and the problem resurfaced, I'm going to have to do some debugging to figure out what the culprit is. Just hate wasting time going through a debug. :-/
Hi,
I am experiencing similar problems with my T-Mobile MDA Compact 3.
I recently re-installed my PC and installed 4.5 having previously used 4.2.
After a few days it stopped syncing. It still allowed you to view files on the phone from the PC and install programs, it just would not Sync.
I did a hard reset of the phone to night and it worked fine to begin with but now it appears to have stopped working again.
Does anyone have any ideas what is wrong. I am assuming that AS 4.5 is the problem here.

That is weird. After my initial hard reset, it happened again. I did another hard reset anyhow because I was trying out new programs and wanted it to be clean again. Not sure what was causing mine to stop functioning but when it did, I couldn't connect to the phone at all. I wouldn't browse nor synch, etc.
It has now definately stopped working.
Looks like I will have to hard reset the MDAC3 again and try from scratch using AS 4.2.
My only concern that without reinstalling my PC there may be some residual problem in the registry or elsewhere that the new installs are picking up.
I am about to try another trawl of the Internet to see if anyone else is experiencing these problems, and has a solution.
Regards
Hi,
....and we are back. I went back to Microsofts site and looked over all the various solutions for AS problems where you are connected but not syncing.
There is a suggestion that USB hubs can cause problems and that you should connect your phone directly to the PCs main USB ports. I had discounted that as it has always been connected to the USB port with no problems.
I have just tried it and it and it is now syncing fine again.
I am assuming that AS 4.2 coped with the hub okay or my reinstall of the PC had caused the problem.
I will now try some soft resets and re-boots of my PC to see if AS keeps working. Fingers crossed!!!
Regards
...and now we are back to square one.
I also tried unistalling Outlook 2007 and reinstalling 2002 and AS 4.2 but it did not even connect.
One thing I have also noticed is when you run the troubleshooter in AS it seems to think that their is not a copy of Outlook as it tells you to install Outlook 2000 or higher. This would explain the lack of syncing while the device appears connected in terms of being to explore it and install programs.
Tried a search on this on the Internet but did not find anything.
Looks like a full reinstall of the PC and a Hard Reset of the device is required.
Deep Joy, thanks Microsoft.

START ---> Settings ---> Connections Tab ----> USB to PC icon !! have a play with that, it worked for me, when I was having the same problems as you !!
Do you have Clean Notificatons installed or any other program that clears the notifications cache? I may have found one cause of the ActiveSync issue I was experiencing.
Hi,
Well I did the full install of both PC and phone and after one sync it started to play up again. I was about to through both out of the window when I began to realise that there was a slight issue on the phone itself.
I use SBSH Pocket Weather and I noticed that it did not seem to be updating weather and image automatically. I had imported settings from my previous setup. I reinstalled PW and set it up from scratch and hey presto Active Sync is working fine again.
I guess some form of problem must have migrated over in the PW settings.
Either that or it was just blind luck it worked.
Regards

Just got my Advantage today! I love it so far, especially the A2DP!
Also had activesync problems: I could synchronise but I could not connect to the internet, only via USB!
Now it is working with AS 4.2 and above box unchecked!
With AS 4.5 -which I also tried- I could not connect to internet with above box checked & unchecked !!!
Cheers,
Ronald

Atom Life - Activesync Problem

Hi, I was wondering if anybody is experiencing the same issue as I do. I recently upgraded my rom to Windows Mobile 6 pro, but since then, when I try to sync my phone and it works fine but I cannot connect to the internet via Activesync and I get an error code 0x80072EE7 and it says Cannot reach Windows PC.
I once read on a forum that it has something to do with the radio. I was wondering if any of you guys can help me resolve this issue.
Any help would be gladly appreciated guys. Thanks a lot.
same here - respiritu
can anyone help me out also?
i am also facing activesync problem. 70% of the time my device is simply unable to connect with the PC.
the only solution i have found so far is to uninstall activesync completely and then install again. at least for that session, it starts detecting and working then. but then i have to make sure i stay connected. because re-connecting sometimes becomes a problem in the same session.
after some hours, or after a day, syncing again stops working.
regards

[Q] Can't login to HTC Twitter!

I tried to search for my problem in our forum and I didn't find any ..
I can't login to HTC sense Twitter through GPRS or 3G connection .. I Only be able to connect through PC connection when my device is connected to the PC by the USB wire ..
it gives me this message when I try to login with GPRS or 3G connection:
Login Error
There was a conncetion error while attempting to login
My HTC HD2 is : HTC HD2 8250
I am useing refrence rom v.: 1.66.415.9
Radio v.: 2.1050.08_2
Protocol v.: 15.37.50.07U
I am useing Co0ki's Home v.1.8.5.1
I faced a similar problem with my E-mails accounts, but I found solution in editing the "Advanced sever settings" of the E-mail accounts by changing the "Network conncetion" to GPRS Provider's Name instead of "The Internet" ..
I can't find similar setting for HTC Sense Twitter.
Please may any one Help me ??
Wish I had a solution. Ran into this twice after hard resets. First time I just kept on trying to login & eventually it worked....weird but it worked.
The second time I'd accidentally denied permission to download content after hard reset, but when I went to weather panel and updated it, I was asked to give permission to dl content & that made my Twitter work.
Again, I know it's not a big help, just relaying my experience & hoping it can help you or someone else.
This has happened to me twice before once...was when I installed cleartemp and when i had it do a full scan it would not work,,kind of like it deleted some sort of file it needed to work....then it did it again once i installed memory maid..and it appears the same sort of thing happened. Now I keep those things and use motweets
thank you guys for your care ..
I still hope that someone can solve this problem .. until then, I will try what JonnieLasVegas said ..
make sure u hv logged urself out of the desktop or laptop PC.
Loin in Start/Settings/Connections/Account Manager. Ok!!!
Thank you Mr anhphe076 , Thank you qanoon302..
I do what you said and ....
it worked !!!
I just log out of my Twitter from my PC .. and try to login by HTC Sense Twitter ..
and it works!!!
Thank you Qanoon302
Thank you guys for your precious concern !!
Thank you very much
I had the same problem and seemed to be 2 reasons for it:
1: Very weak signal strenght
2: I changed both option from settings-connections-connections-advanced-select networks to my rovider name (orange internet for me)
Hi, this solved my problem too. Thanks a lot!
I was experiencing the following on my Diamond2:
- Sense would crash and restart when I hit the "Update now" button on the Twitter tab
- PockeTwit would not refresh my timeline, sometimes with a communications error sometimes without error
This would go on for over 24 hours.
Logging in and out on twitter.com from my home PC finally solved this problem. Weird thing is that this PC had been switched off all the time. I also logged in and out on twitter.com from another PC before my home PC, which didn't solve the problem. So, apparently, there was some session on twitter.com from my switched off home PC, that blocked both Sense and PockeTwit from properly accessing Twitter.
Thank You razvan_real_one,
thank you mr deechte for all your contributions
Nothing above solved my problem
I've got the message that my username/email or password are incorrect.
Tried to log on/off from my pc, try from settings/account manager - nothing
I'm using wireless connection, so it is not the problem with the connection speed.

They are morons (i mean HTC support). No point to contact them...
I've contacted them about 6 times and always we are stuck on "Install latest ROM" or "Hard reset your device" which does not solve the problem at all ...
same problem.. email/username or password are incorrect.
this happens only with twitter.
btw, im from the neherlands
@issy_i
Report it to HTC support !
Twitter Tab now works. Can login and receive messages. However, I am not certain on the security level.
Thanks
Solved
Loged into my Twitter account on pc, changed my password and closed my account on the pc.
After then I was also able to log in HTC peep on my HD2 with the new password

[Q] ActiveSync crash

Hi all,
pretty serious issue with my HD2 (WM6.5). ActiveSync will start for one second then close immediately. Tried multiple reboots, etc etc.
Starting ActiveSync from the bluetooth application will say "connected" and "user authenticated" but it's still crashed and no sync is possible at all.
Now, I know the ultimate but quick remedy is to hard-reset but before I do this last step, maybe there is a reg-tweak of something I can try ? Like "reinstalling" ActiveSync (which I know is part of the ROM so that makes no sense but you get the idea).
Any tips ?
If you reinstall ActiveSync to your phone and computer and you still experience this problem then I am afriad a hard reset is hour only other option.
Txs, no I didn't reinstall ActiveSync on the mobile cos I didn't think that was possible at all ?
It's not the computer that has the issue, but the mobile : go to programs/tools/ActiveSync, application starts for one second then crashes. No error messages no nothing.
BTW is there like an "event viewer" on WM6.5 ?
Txs.

I am not sure about an "event viewer" or "event log" in Windows Mobile, although it is very possible. Maybe someone with more knowledge than I can chime incand add to this.
It does sound like your ActiveSync is currupted though. A hard reset will probably be the only fix unless someone else can provide you with a ActiveSync cab file. This type offile would force the old ActiveSync to uninstall befor it installs ActiveSync.
Ouch I don't want to hard reset, again...
Gotta be a quickfix tho, somewhere...
