You need to get wmodem.exe from WM2k3SE or WM2k3 and change registry settings from "RNDIS" to "USBSER". And make sure ActiveSync app doesn't run in background
Could yoy tell me step by step how can I do that. Is there wmmodem.exe on the ftp site ?

I upgraded the Qtek ROM version to 3.16.52 ENG Radio Version 3.23.01. I want to use WM utility to connect my Qtek to PC with IrDA. My PC does not have built in Infrared port, and I installed a USB infrared adapter. I can connect using activesync, I can beam files to and fro, but I don't know how to make it work as a modem.
As far as I know, I must create an infrared modem in the PC.
Help please.

It worked. I just had to change the Extra Settings to suit my ISP.

You need to create a backup of your original (German) ROM first. For this, you will need a serial cable (no way around this).
Create a connection between your MDA II and your PC by running Hyper Terminal with settings: 115200 baud, 8n1, direct to COM1 port

So, what is/are the actual updates for this device?
I found an older update T-Mobile 1.66
then a newer one to 1.72
and in the forum updates to WM2003 SE and that ever...
What I need is:
sync with outlook over BlueTooth,
BT for headset(that makes trouble) and my gps,
Word and Excel (Turn Screen in SE?) .

If you just want to be sure to have it stable, supported (warranty) & working: Go with a specific T-Mobile (GER) 1.72 version.
Should be on their website.
I fyou want to experiment (and get landscape): Have fun and get all SE versions and decide which one you like.

Immpossible. There is no WM2003SE existing in german language for the XDA I

ROMs for MDA III are different from the Wallaby ROMs and can't be used on an other device....
You can use WM2003SE in English, or use WM2003 in german for the XDA I

I've tried "down"grading the ROM back the lower versions of ROM only connects using Activesync 4.2. wm6 only connects using Activesync 4.5.
