Hi,pls help me, I've upgraded my siemens sx56 from PPC2002 to xda special edition 1.2, so I can unlock my phone. Fortunately the phone was unlocked, the problem is I have a full length of signal as per display on the screen, but I can't make a call or even make a sms message, what could be the problem?pls help me...

Well check if you are registered to the right network. that might be the problem. If it doesnt solve the problem, then i think you will have to give more details to what the problem is like!!!! :wink:

please don't be annoyed that I bring up this topic again but I really don't know what to try anymore.
I have a XDA with
ROM-Version 3.14.16 GER
Radio-Version 4.21 (upgraded recently from 4.16)
My telephone network provider is tele.ring in Austria.
and my phone hangs up every hour or so, sometimes more often. Either the connection bar on the top showing the connection strength will drop to 0 and it says "no signal" or everyting seems to be okay, signal strength is there but I can't make calls. Basically the same thing as in posting http://www.xda-developers.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=455 where noone answered
I tried the following to solve this problem:
1. Got Phone Today from Burr Oaks Software because that lets you change the refresh rate, that is how often your Phone connects to the Network
2. Upgraded from Radio-Version 4.16 to 4.21.
3. Got a new simcard.
Nothing helped, now I am a bit desperate because a cell phone doesn't make a lot of sense if you can't be reached. Can anyone, ANYONE please help me here and give me a hint how to make the phone working ?

Hi Guys,
I thought I would let you know of a harmless yet very annoying bug on the O2 Network. If you are currently running Radio Shack version 4.21.00 you may find yourself receiving dozens of blank SMS messages. AS I did… 47 to be over the weekend to be precise.
I called O2 on Sunday and there is some kind of intermittent problem with the Radio Shack version and reporting to the network. The phone is paged with an SMS by O2 to see if a voice mail can be delivered or the phone is on. This SMS should not be seen. However it is.
O2 said replying with the word ‘stop’ should stop it however this will not work as the number does not exist, it is the message centre.
I finally got O2 to fix the problem by calling them (that only took 2 hours :evil: ). O2 are currently looking to release a new version of the software to resolve this. They also mentioned a slight problem with Signal too. O2 said that they were going to call me today or tomorrow with more information about this.
If anyone else has had this problem or similar can you let me know :?: .

i was just wondering, would u advice in not upgrading to v.421 radio stack at all?
the reason i ask is beacuse i have version v.420 and i am/was going to upgrade via the o2 website....
would you suggest upgrading or not....
what difference does it make?

I also have upgraded my radio stack from v4.20 to v4.21. It works pretty well so far (anyway, I am in Thailand). I think there is nothing wrong with the upgrade, your local operator might be responsible for this

I would say only upgrade the radio shack if you are doing so to resolve a specific issue or bug.
The problem with blank messages is just annoying and as long as you keep your phone off/on silent over night it is not a problem. Since I spoke to O2 I have only got one blank message.
I upgraded as I had problems with signal strength. BTW, this is still not resolved :evil:
If you have a reason to upgrade then do so…

Hi guys/girls
Have a XDA which has a very strange problem, I have signal, can send and take texts (Vodafone and Orange networks tested) but can not take or make a call, sometimes the phone will ring and then after about 5 sec's it will cut off and I will have missed call, I have tried to take the call but it say unable to take the call (have not yet got it to call out), now the Orange sim I use has GPRS and I get the little G up for about 2 sec's then it's gone again, so anyone had this problem before and can point me in the right place to get this fixed.
Also I got the phone like this so I know no histroy.

I'm guessing this is a hardware problem so any link's or pic's of the radio side of the XDA might help me to see if something has come loose or might need resoldering.

The XDA I have came with the Special Edition Rom v1.2 on it
I put in a vodaphone sim I know works and it allowed me to dial out - only to cut off as soon as it seemed to make a connection. So I tried to diel to it to get a message about a system error.
I tried an O2 new pay as you go sim and had the problem of the G2 symbol appearing and disappearing on me.
Anyone out there got any clues ?
Owlfandbg, this sounds to me like a blocked phone, I have been sold 2 phones in the past that did the same and found out they had been subject to insurance claims and blocked from all networks.
any ideas how I find out if the phone is blocked
and is there anything I can dan do about it?
If your radio stack is before 4.21 you can use xda manipulator to "manipulate" the imei which will then give you network access. I must qualify this by stating that interfering with the imei in the UK renders you liable to 5 years in jail plus a huge fine if you get caught.

Hopefully someone can help.
I got a XDA cheap and thought i'd have a tinker with it.
Now as far as i'm led to beleive it was working perfectly before i got it. The guy had been using it as his phone but wanted something smaller.
Now to the present time.
I have installed my O2(UK) PAYG sim card into it but i just can't get a signal from the machine whatsoever.
Now i contacted O2 to check if the handset was barred from the network and they have said that it wasn't.
I downloaded the latest RRU and radio stack updates from the O2 website and have installed them both successfully.
I have loaded the machine into the bootloader mode and it states that GSM is OK.
When i go into the options of the phone i can see the phone number but i can't do anything else. If i leave the phone turned for a while i eventually get a Sim card is invalid. Please contact your service provider for assistance.
Another thing i noticed was that the model numebr on the back of the XDA is NOT the same as the one given by the software. The IMEI numbers do match however.
Any one have any ideas??
Just to let you know i updated the radio stack to 6.24 and its now working perfectly.

I have an Imate Smartflip, running WM6.1 Build 5.2.21040 AKU 1.6.0 by Erofich, used in India on an Airtel GSM Network.
The problem is that some Calls and SMS are not received on the phone, they just dont arrive. I can confirm that its not the fault of the network as it seems to work fine on my Nokia phone.
What could be the reason behind this? Is there a chance of any incompatibility between the phone and network.
Imp. Its some calls and msgs and not all.
The phone seems to work well otherwise, fast and nippy with the new OS.
I will have to shift to another device if i dont find a solution to this problem, its something i really dont want to do, considering its quite a good phone otherwise.
