just upgraded to 5.3 from earlier version 5.2. After I have soft reset my XDA II, it re-started but stayed on the owner information screen. I soft reset numerous time but everytime it would not go pass the owner information screen. Pressing any hardware keys had no effect. At the end I had to hard reset.
Anyone has the same problem?

Hi all,
I have one of the original O2 XDA's (64mb), and it has been fine, but over the last 6-8 months the xda keeps resetting (similar to pressing the reset on the left with the stylus) and the phone switches off.
I do not loose any data, but I have to re-enter the code for the phone. It does it randomly, diverting calls to voicemail, till I turn the phone back on.
I thought mine was a one off, but my brother has the same model and he said he has been getting the same problem.
The details are:
ROM Version 3.14.13 ENG dated 10/09/02
Radio Version 4.08
Protocol version 32S54
Any ideas ?
All help will be appreciated.
Thanks
AA :?
PS It is not Sim locked. ( Thanks to this site)
Sounds like a software program, it might be worth using the xda without any additional software for a while, backup first, do a hard reset and use the phone as normal. If this cures it then you will know that one of your programs is causing the problem.
This might be a long shot in the dark....check the reset button to make sure it isn't damaged in some way. I haven't heard of a PPC reset button being jammed in the reset position but it could be a viable theory.
Good Luck
Hi
I have tried this, but keep getting the same problem.
I set the phone to manual selection of network, and when it reset itself, the phone part would not come on again.
In the end I had to take out the sim, and put a different one in before the phone part would come on. could there be a problem with the GSM bit ?
Ta
It might be the sim-door switch which automatically switch off your phone when you open it. There was a solution of similar problem on this forum
Hey guys,
I am currently having an issue where my S1 gets stuck on the boot up screen. It seems to freeze on the "Sony" text before it gets to the boot animation and just stays there until I long press the power button to turn off. I tried the reset function first to no avail. Then I let the battery completely drain and recharge before I turned it back on and it still gets stuck in the same place. I have not rooted or done anything to it but download a few apps and a launcher. Two things I would like to avoid is doing a factory reset but more importantly avoid dealing with Sony and their warranty. Any help you all could provide would be appreciated!
Unfortunately you have only this two choices ...
Factory reset or Sony (dealer) warranty ...

I was having wifi issues after rooting and did a factory reset solving my problem. If you don’t have that many apps on your tab I'm pretty sure it will fix your problem. Since you haven't rooted your devise then you should be fine calling Sony tech support if the factory reset doesn’t fix the boot loop.
Thanks for your responses. I spent a lot of time setting up my home pages as hubs so this sucks!
Next question, does anyone know how to perform factory reset without booting up the device? I performed one when I first received it but went through the Settings. Since I cant get past the boot screen, I obviously cant do it that way.
factory data reset
with the tablet off you need to press and hold the volume + button and then press and hold the power button. keep holding both buttons and when you see the sony logo release the power button only. once you get the android system recovery mode you release the volume button and use the volume + and - to navigate the menu and quickly press the power button to make a selection. before you do the reset try this: access the recovery mode and select restart and cancel, your tablet might boot normally.

If you are unable to enter stock recovery I would think you will probably have to contact Sony. Even if you have adb I don’t think you would be able to do anything because your devise is not rooted. Someone correct if I am wrong.
I believe you are right.
I was unable to get the tablet into recovery using the method stated above. I get to the Sony screen (as always) but when I release the volume button the tablet turns off. Now I have to deal with Sony. Crap! What are the chances they replace it under warranty when I bought it off ebay?

Call them and play dumb. Tell them that you received it as a gift and you weren’t sure where it was purchased from. It’s worth a shot.

My Solution
I just had this problem, what I did was..
when on the Sony logo I took out my SD card>unplugged power>did a hard reboot>waited about 30sec>then powered the tablet on and it booted normally.
I hope this was somewhat helpful
My Tablet have the same issues. It goes to Sony Service Center. I think is a shame for Sony, because the tablet is 8 months old. That is not quality.

Sony Firmware update
Since I had the lockup on the Sony logo, I have received firmware update 4.0.3 Rev1a I haven't had the problem again yet.
what happened with you can you help me
i have the same problem
thank you ....
Have you tried using a paper clip and reset yet? Worth a shot before staying on hold with Sony.

Hope it helps.
So I searched the forum for a bit and saw some people have similar issues but not the exact issue that I have. For some reason, my phone's power button only turns on the phone. After the phone is on, it doesn't work anymore. (i.e. will not put the phone into the lock state nor wake up the phone) The only way for me to wake up the phone is to plug it into the charger which will activate the lock screen.
Some additional information:
I am currently running Stock 4.0.3 ICS unrooted.
I have tried a factory reset on the phone.
I have also tried the *2767*3855# factory format code which is supposed to reinstall the phone firmware.
I was using the Go Launcher/Go Locker app as my default home screen and lock screen but this is still happening even after a factory reset back to TouchWiz.
This problem occurred after turning my phone back on this morning after it died due to running out of battery.
If anyone knows what I should do or can point me in the right direction, I would be grateful.
Warranty replacement.

Boo, that sucks. Do you think going through AT&T or Samsung would be better? I guess its between a refurbished phone vs not having one for 2 or so weeks.

Hello,
So I've searched everywhere for a solution to my problem but haven't had any luck. My phones about a year old. I rooted my phone a while ago and have run several different roms since and had no problems until recently.
Problem:
Just recently the power/lock screen button started acting up. Whenever I touched the button(without pressing it) the power options would display on my screen. Its progressively gotten worse. Pressing the button won't activate the lock screen. It just causes the power options to display for a brief second then it reboots by itself. The only way I can get the screen to lock is to let it time out but when I try to unlock it, the screen lights up for a brief second and the phone reboots itself. Currently, the only way I can use my phone is to not let the screen time out which isn't always effective. Sometimes it reboots mid use. also, my phone will not completely turn off. It just reboots whenever I try.
Solutions I've tried:
-removed battery and sim card
-Cleared the Dalvik Cache(worked for a bit, now doesn't help at all)
-factory reset and SD card wipe
-Re-installed the rom
-Tried a different kernel
-tried a different rom
My phones pretty much useless in its current state so any help at all would be greatly appreciated. I'm open to all suggestions.
Thanks in advance.

I am having the exact same problem as you. I purchased my phone in January of this year. I have not rooted my phone. I've tried a factory data reset but the problem still persists. I want to send it to Samsung to get fixed because the warrant is still valid, but I have lost my original purchase receipt.

The problem started happening shortly after I had flashed a new rom so I wasn't sure if that might of had something to do with it. Looking back, I remember I had dropped my phone just prior to this all happening but everything was working fine afterwards. It was a very minimal fall, only a few inches on to a table so I thought nothing of it.
One night I started getting really frustrated with this problem so I started tapping relatively hard around the power button. I had noticed that the inside of the battery cover was really dirty so I thought maybe the button was just dirty.
Whichever, the problem was, the tapping around the power button fixed the problem. My best guess is that the connection to the power button is probably loose. Maybe I'll take my phone apart when I get a chance and investigate.

Stock (not rooted)
1. Bought the phone 9 days ago
2. Everything working just fine until a few hours ago.
3. All of a sudden, my touches started to not register on the first try.
4. It would take anywhere between 1 (if i'm lucky) to 7 tries before my touch is recognized. (average 3-4 tries)
5. I turned on "Show touches" and "Show pointer location" under the Developer options and it confirms point 4 above
6. I did a hard reboot (Power, Volume UP, and Home), cleared cache and reset to factory settings and this did not fix the problem.
7. I searched through forums and could not find anything.
8. I'm thinking this should probably be a faulty hardware issue

Yes, I sent it back for repair for the same reason. I already post this issue.
First it was working perfectly fine, but in a few hours of usage, the touch screen started to be less and less responsive, sometime i had to press 2 or 3 time to get it work. And after a few hours, the touch screen start to stop working for few minutes and then been again responsive for a few minutes. At the end of the day, no more response. I try to clear cache and reset to factory settings and this did not fix the problem....

Well things seem to have improved a ton since I've done this. I'm gonna give it 24 more hours before I call it good and add my Zagg replacement back on.
I took it off because I thought it was the cause for my head ache.
Thanks for the tip dude. If all is well I will have no more things to complain about.
