I tried to upgrade my XDAII to WM2003se but i got this error 120 saying "Country ID error".
I get at the top now "Serial"
and at the bottom "v1.06"
Can somebody tell me what a "hard reset" and a "soft reset"
Edit: After hours of forum searching and reading, I finally was able to flash the software to WM2003se thanx to this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/vie...postorder=asc&highlight=imate+wm+2003se+error
Thanx for all you help anyhow.
mate
hard reset is done by pressing the power button and using your stylus to depress the reset switch under the unit. this totally erases everything in the memory; all apps or progs installed are wiped out (including contacts, calendar, tasks, etc).
soft reset is like restarting your computer. all data and applications are retained; this is actually good for the unit since it clears up memory. simply done by using the stylus to depress the reset switch underneath....or by a third party program.
if your unit is stuck in bootloader (showing you the serial details and such) try doing a soft reset first. if that doesn't work then a hard reset should do the trick.
for the correct se rom to use...not sure where to get it but maybe the other chaps can help out.
cheers
Thanx for your reply.
I tried both a soft and hard reset but nothing happens. The text fades for about a second and pops right back up.
My PDA still won't boot. Still has the screen win"serial" and "v1.06" and when i plug it into the cradle, it says "USB".
Help still needed
Launch ROM
Set your Xda II into BootLoader mode = Power + Reset + DPad
Cradle the Xda II and run this ROM
Thanx for your help guys.
Dr.Stein, I ran the rom you gave me but got a Model error 100.
hmm.... does it change anything if my PDA is actually an Imate Pocket Pc with the O2 XDAII firmware loaded onto it?

I thought you said it was an Xda II?
In the case of an iMate you have got to make some changes to the ROM before running it.
Do a search in the forum to find out how.
Will this method work?

This is so frustrating. :x
Im going through this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=7392&highlight=imate+model+error+100+rom
But have no idea what they are saying.

http://wiki.xda-developers.com/wiki/ER2003Edit - this link tells me nothing of how to use the rom editor. Am i meant to extract, delete, rename a ROM file or what?
I'm trying to download other ROMs BUT ALL THE LINKS ARE DEAD.
My screen is still stuck in bootloader mode (Serial V1.06).
Still in need of help.

Important!!!!
If your stuck in bootloader mode and have no knowledge (yet) of how to fix it.,
Take your battery out your pda untill you've worked out how to use ER2003Edit.
You see in bootloader mode your pda does'nt charge, so the chances are now That your batterie may allreay be too low for an os upgrade.,
Quote:
NK.nbf - 0x20040304
ms_.nbf -0x20040305
radio_.nbf - 0x20040306
- what does all this mean?
Open the rom editor, go to tab and select open then navigate to
NK.nbf - 0x20040304
ms_.nbf -0x20040305
radio_.nbf - 0x20040306
Open each 1 with editor then where it says o2,qtek,t-mobile edit this window to your operator. Then start himilayaupgradeexe on pc
. If you have a cradle allso charge the batteri up before upgrading.

hi ,
i was updating my xda11 from the o2 web site to v172181.
i followed all the instructions fully and half way through it gave a fail message.it told me to remove xda and cradle from computer and retry after reseting xda.
the xda is stuck in limbo with no backlighting and serial on top of the screen and v1.06 at the bottom.
how do i get back to the start.
i am no programmer so try to make it as user friendly as possible please.
thanks for any help or advice
rob
hi guys/gals
what time of the day or nite do the experts come on , i know its an international board
rob
when the screen is no blacklight and display "Serial" on top and "v1.06" on the bottom , this is the bootloader mode ....
you can put your device in craddle and re-run an upgrade in bootloader mode ....
- download an available upgrade for your device
- put your device in bootloader mode if it isn't it ( press and hold power button and reset until screen display "serial" & "v1.06")
- put your device in craddle
- upgrade your device normally
it should works fine
tofclock
thks for the reply
i will try that now ,i tried already but it wouldnt connect to active sync.
ah well , here goes again
rob
no , still wont connect to active sync
No need to connect with active sync ...
just put in bootloader mode , put in the craddle , and run himaupgradeut.exe
serching for himaupgradeut.exe on this site.have you a download path for it or can you tell where it is
cheers
rob
Ooooh ...
your upgrade is a .exe file ...
ok
in this .exe fie , there is 6 files
HimaClearJumpCode.exe --> ??
GetDeviceDate.exe --> to get device info
HimaUpgradeUt.exe --> to upgrade device
nk.nbf --> Os rom
Radio_.nbf --> Radio rom
ms_.nbf --> Extended_rom
rom for himalaya are on 2 different package :
zip file contains the 6 files
or exe file
the procedure is simple :
put your himalaya in bootloader mode
put the device in craddle
and then , if you have a rom upgrade like an exe file , run it , and if you have a zip file , unzip it and run himaupgradeut.exe
you can find all files you need
HERE
or
HERE
tofclock ,
great advice so far , thanks
i tried the above links and i dont have permission to view/open site.
do i need a password or permission from a mod.
rob
oh sorry ......
Go to ftp://xda:[email protected] and then , navigate in folders Himalaya or HimalayaSeS
tofclock ,
I figured out what happened by trawling through old topics and the help i recieved from yourself.
i presumed the usb conection feed power to xda11 as i have the ac charger in my bedroom for topping up battery.
i connected ac charger to cradle and reran upgrade and bingo
thanks for all the help friend
hi,
My M1000 crashed. Now it will not load windows. It will not reset (hard or Soft) . It is just stuck on a black screen which says serial on the top...and v1.06 near the bottom of the screen. Can anyone help? Is there another way to hard reset an M1000 apart from resetting the bottom and pressing power simaltaniously
You are in bootloader mode ... your rom is maybe corrupt ...
put your device in craddle and flash it
If you flash it, it should work...
TofClock is right. I have a similar problem with my Wallaby. It just won't get past the Boot screen.. You may want to use XDATools and flash a new rom to the Himalaya. You could cook one or dump one to a SD card from another M1000.
Thanks People!!!!M1000 is back from the grave!!!!!!!!!!!!

Dear All,
I've tried to upgrade to ROM Hermes_1.18.416.1_1.18.416.101_1.14.00.10_WWE_Ship
and unluckly cable loosen and I reset the phone.
Since it's in the middle and can't success enter the Windows Mobile,
but the bootloader was updated to 1.06.
Now I can't flash any ROM either
HER_DopodAsia_1237074_1060010_WWE_SHIP or the new one.
The tools on "imei check" even can't recognize my phone.
Any one can help me on this issue, please?
Thanks in advance.
Try the steps here, let us know the results:
http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=Hermes_UpgradeProblems
If you don't fix it with the proposed solutions attach USB Monitor capture in text format as explained in the bootom of the page.
I have the same issue, and sent it to service, and now I have the phone back and they could not fix it, so got no radio or imei number, so none of the FAQ will work for me.
So I have an expensive paper weight.
Hi,
ME TOO!!
I recently had a power cut (yes, a lights off power cut!) that killed my PC half wat through installing the Cingular English CWS__001 1.34.502.1 09/21/06 ?? 1.16.00.00 32.53.7018.01H 14955.2.3.0 ROM onto my SPV 3100.
Now SPV 3100 will boot to the ROM I was running prior to the upgrade but I can't use the telephone. I'm also not able to rerun the upgrade as it got far enough through the process to upgrade my bootloader to 1.06 - therefor rendering me unable to load another ROM.
Before the crash I was using the Imate ROM as below and M3100 was sim unlocked and running on o2 3G
i-mate English CDL__001 1.20.305.3 07/21/06 1.20.305.104 1.07.03.10 32.41.7010.02H 14955.2.3.0 1.04
I have also tried imei without any joy.
the PDA part of my M3100 still works but the phone is dead. I have been told that if you can get the latest radio installed then you satnd a chance of the phone part working.
We need a hack to get bootloader 1.4 back on the phones.
Please help.
Thanks
My one now is a photo frame which one show "HTC" or "Windows Mobile",
at least your one is a PDA.
There are nothing in "info 2" and so nothing can be flash into it.
Is it possible to have something written CID and IMEI to phone in mtty
and let the flash rom success?
i am in the same situation like yhlee. Pof, i have reply your pm and ready to upload the result file to FTP. where should i upload to?
Thanks
oh i forgot to say, mine is even worst. as soon as i turn on the unit. it will go right into bootloader without press any button.
The USB Log is too large (around 2MB)
and can't upload, any suggestion?
Thanks.

This can be fixed by bootloader commands 'set 14 0' and 'task 8', will reboot your device and boot into OS again (but no GSM yet!)

Upload it to xda-developers ftp:
ftp://xdaupload:[email protected]/Uploads/Hermes/
USER: xdaupload
PASS: xda
POF, file have been uploaded, file name= rnc1688
Thanks
'set 14 0' and 'task 8' didn't work
@rnc1688: It starts the flashing process, but you get a "CID not allow (255)" error because your CID is corrupted and you are in bootloader 1.06.
Is not booting WM5 after "set 14 0" in mtty.exe? If it's not booting WM5 you'll not be able to flash bootloader 1.04 and bypass CID checking.
so i guess my unit is bricked now.
I've upload the file which named yhlee.txt.
However, I'm going to send the unit for service.
Hope they can fix.
Any way to make it show the bootloader screen on start-up
everytime?
"set 14 1" doesn't work after push the RESET button.
Thanks.
@yhlee: U're getting exactly the same error as rnc1688. Device in bootloader 1.06 which has corrupted CID, however you say you can go into OS, so it would be possible for you to downgrade the bootloader so it does not enforce CID checking.

Try "set 1e 1" and then "set 14 1", you'll boot stright into bootloader.
@rnc1688: If you want to go WM5 try this:
"set 1e 1" and then "set 14 0", you should be able to boot stright into OS.
no luck either
grrr!!!... command "set 14 [0|1]" is working fine in 1.04 here to switch boot into WM5 or boot in bootloader mode... probably different in 1.06??? I don't have a 1.06 now to test
Mine one is just showing "Windows Mobile" but stuck there,
but seems rnc1688 one is a PDA but my one is nothing.
I've sent to distributor for service.
Thanks you pof.

Let me know when they fix it... i'm curious about if they will fix it with 1.06 or they will downgrade to 1.04 first.
I got a correct message back from the service company, and they will not fix a bootloader 1.06 unless the original rom has been release with it, I was told that is HTC policy on this.
hi guys
I have a bricked hermes
DOPOD 8525 -> WM 6.1 Professional
From bootloader screen
HERM100 IPL-1.01
bootloader SPL-1,40.01ipro
Tried to flash ROM using safe SSPL with RUUwrapper.
At completion of flash both my mobiler & win mobile device centre disconected or lost connection with device, after soft reset will only load up to second HTC screen. How can I recover from this brick? device manager recognises HTC usb sync when plugged in but I can't connect to re flash rom.
Reading helps my friend
Get to bootloader, press ok and power on left and right respectively and stick stylus in all at same time.
that should bring up tricolour screen.
Download your imate jasjam official ROM
EDIT i think you got a dopod so the dopod ROM is what you want from my 4shared or wiki!!
from the wiki or from my 4shared, and flash it while it is in boot loader mode.
then you need to flash hard spl one of the first stickys on this thread that you have just posted to.
Then flash your desired rom.
Thank you Zocster
Got it unbricked & working, thanks to you I have a lot of trouble reading as I am leagally blind but get by with T2V & magnifiers most times. however searching threads is a lot harder than for most.
thanks
Lou
PS if you ever cross the tasman drop me a line
loulian, to make it easier to recover from bricks, It would be best if you flashed Hard SPL V7 from here - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=296722
It won't guarantee a flawless flash but will help if something goes wrong by giving you a GOOD chance of recovery.
You can then use the sd card method and make life easier by not having to worry about pc crashes, cables being pulled, blackouts or those annoying "sync" errros.
Cheers...
Also if you have trouble setting up your Hermes after a flash/hard reset because of the alignment points being hard to see, It would be a good idea to download this -
http://www.codefactory.es/en/downloads.asp?id=44
It will, after you save the settings, allow you to use your PC to set up the Alignment point if you need to Hard Reset or flash your phone making it load the os to the today screen.
