Hello!
Is there any method of accessing internet from a PC *though* Wallaby's GPRS? As I could undestend a Wallaby device is intended to connect to internet through PC when it is connected to it, or through the GPRS when it separated. And I would like to use GPRS as internet source for my PC - is that possible?!!
Waiting for your answers...
Thanks in advance
Yaroslav Novytskyy
Some ROMS do have a wireless modem integrated. I think with this tool you can do that.
It will act as a normal modem, you can use with your PC....
Stefan
How can I check if this my case? and how to use it? any docs, manuals, links? please...
An overview which rom includes the wmodem application could be found here:
http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=ROMVersions
There have been some instructions about the wmodem from o2, but i never read them through... ;-)
Stefan
There is no WM2003SE with wmodem And I have already installed a WM2003SE from your kitchen and was so happy, that I've made it Now I will have to downgrade (p.s. is that painless? from WM2003SE to WM2003? ) Those download links from the page, you have shown abow, do not wokrk As far as I can understand - those are clean ROMs...
And one more thing: as I've mentioned, I've cooked a WM2003SE based ROM, but with some additional apps (selected while cooking) and they did not install... for example there is a plugin for MSMoney on today screen, but when clicking it, it says "error opening or locating target filename"... same with AgileMessanger and lots of others intended to be installed (but some were still installed)... Why is that? Now I think it would be better to install a "cleen" system and then to add what I do need....
Thanx for your answers.... waiting for more I do need them

Just tried it in the moment. Downloading worked for me fine.... You can also use a normal ftp-client to access the server and download the file(s)....

That's very courius. But i've also to say, the Wm2003SE was not so "hard tested" than the other cooking process....
There are many Users out htere sing a cooked ROM (most use Wm2003) without any Problem. So i think you don not have to use a clean ROM for your installtion....

I would like to add the fonix voicedial application to my XDA2. I noted on the "my-xda.com" website that this application is supposed to be on the companion CD that comes with a XDA2.
Not mine!, purchased just 2 weeks ago.
My CD version is V1.0 sept 2003
Can anybody tell me if there is a later release that has it on please.
Can't see anywhere on the O2 websites where to download it.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks I updated rom and installed the applications, works a treat.
Just got to re-install tomtom.
Thanks again
Chris
Two questions :
- Is it free ?
- Does it work on Qtec and T-Mobile MDA too ? (the app_suite_.exe i mean )
Yes its free,
I would assume it would work providing you are running the updated Rom.
I had to update to 1.72.00 WWE, before I could install the appsuite.
Good luck
Chris
That's weird, I'm running on 1.72.00WWE and it does not let me install...
Any ideas?
Rayan, did you try installing to a bare configuration, ie before restore?
It is not the OS version that counts (although it probably would have to be 1.72.00WWE) , but the extrom version (1.72.181 / 1.72.187). but i don't know which registry entries are important for this validation.
Doing a restore after upgrade does overwrite the registry (like cruisin implied).
Can anyone post the individual cabs inside this application suite?
I can have a look to make it more "ExtROM version independent"
(ie that it will also work with my 1.72.902 ROM)
I tried to create the myself from the appsuite.
Fonix cab seems to be faulty. Any experience with this?
Couldn't it be possible to just install the Fonix Voicedial on just any rom available?
That shouldn't be a problem is it?

I am not able to install any of this software.... Please Edsub maybe you can do something...
I am more than happy to sort this out, BUT: I need to get hold of a correct Fonix cab file. The one in the posted app. suite is faulty and cannot be used.
ah, logging on helps.
Thanks superperry.
i will have a look at the cabs.
bollocks!
The Fonix cab you posted is faulty too.
The cab identifies as a ZIP cabinet, instead of a WinCE Cabinet.
Also WinCE Cab manager is not able to open it, just crashes. Same as with my copy of the Fonix cab.
The other two cabs are fine.
Just by looking at the TrueFax cab I bet the version checking is doen via a new setup.dll. This should be do-able. Plz have a little patience as I do have a real job to do too . . .

Don't worry edsub, we can wait.

Did ANYONE try to get the Fonix Voicedial to run on their Himalaya??
What happened?
Did the install on the Himalaya run?
Did the app itself run?
Any error messages?
This Fonix cab is something different from all the other cabs I know of.
BTW: dcs, did you get Fonix installed (you seem to have a new 1.72.187 rom version on O2)??

Yes I did. It runs, but haven't done much with it yet.
mmm, I guess we have to conclude that O2 (or Fonix) have found themselves a new method of installing software on the Himalaya . . .
@dcs: Do you remember whether the install ran as silent as other (normal) installs on the Himalaya? Did you see the zip-manager get used for installing (I ask this because the Fonix cab shows up like a zip-type of cab, instead of like a WinCE cab)
Hi Folks,
I'm using iMate pocket PC which i bought from India. Its awesome while sync with my exchange server and get me entire mailbox of mine to the device.
I also want to check whether i can enjoy the WM2003SE on this device. I have been reading quite a few posts on WM2003SE for XDA here (i'm not sure whether this is the right forum to talk bout the iMate; however, i tried coz i seen a category for HTC).
I know for sure that the vendor has not yet published WM2003SE for iMate PPC. however, Could anybody please let me know if i can upgrade my iMate to WM2003SE (i'm crezy about it and a couple of days back i just decided to use one of the upgrade from this site and somehow cud hold myself as i cud not predict what its going to do with my device ). If its possibel, from where shall I get the upgrade?
thanks in advance.

From Today screen, goto START/Settings/System/Device Information.
What's your ROM version/date, Radio version etc?
You can search and check out DCS posting on how to check the operator code on the .nbf files and your devices.
Alternatively, if you are not too worry about changing the operator code (since the upgrade to WM2003SE voids warranty anyway), you can run the upgrade only with HimaUpgradeUt.exe (remove the HimaGetDeviceData.exe and HimaClearJumpCode.exe).
There exists many tutorials/tips from people who have tried the upgrade, so have a good read and copy the important tips.
Some general tips from me:
(a) Backup all your important data (calendar schedule, docs, contacts etc)
(b) Be mentally prepared to spend quite awhile doing the upgrade. Smooth upgrade -> 1-2 hours, Error-prone upgrade -> 1-2 days.
Do not rush, or you will find that 99% of the time, the error happens because you are careless. Always clarify, clarify, clarify.
(c) If encounter errors, copy the sequence of events, EXACT error messages, search for similar errors reported here. If unable to find, post your errors to request for urgent help!
(d) Also, if you have the luxury of a spare phone, keep that handy in case your mobile phone connectivity is indispensable to you.
(e) If all else fails, be prepared for a downgrade back to the original ROM. Remember to download the original WM2003 ROM package as well.
good luck!

Hey,
I just ran the himalayut.exe and i'm sure there was no ms_nbf file in the directory
So, I beleive the ext ROM was not present and its not installed.
Can anyone give me a good ext ROM which i can use to with my iMate (asia)?
Thanks.
SoftBank's known 3G/HSDPA flat-rate packet data connection setting that has hacked from old X01HT ExtROM (user name: "open", password started from "oz...") will be unusable on end of March.
The user name of new setting (available at current ROM that released on end of Nov. 2006) has changed as "opensoftbank", and still no one hacked the password itself.
However, finally I found a way to create the connetcion, using some files dumped from current X01HT ROM.
To create SoftBank's connection that can be used continuously after Apr. 1 2007, you need ROM COOKING as follows, because at least the file WIFIwake.exe should be in the ROM to make the connection.
Step 1. Cook your ROM (add following 2 files in attached ZIP) and update device.
For general instruction of Hermes' ROM cooking, see the Wiki and related resouces.
addfile Out.xml
addfile WIFIwake.exe(A.xml and Initial.exe aren't needed)
Step 2. Install ConnSBM.CAB (included in ZIP)
The connection will be created, however password entry is still empty at this moment.
Step 3. The files are in ROM, so you need to set to "Menu -> Show All Files" on File Explorer to make ROM-attributed files visible (or, use similar option for 3rd party's file explorers, such as Resco or GSFinder+).
Step 4. Run WIFIwake.exe from \Windows folder.
The password will be created into the connection made by ConnSBM.CAB at Step 2.
To confirm whether success or not, check the connection "Internet > SoftBank", and click "Edit -> Next -> Next". If "****************" is shown at the Password field, the password has been successfully created.
If the password is not created, maybe WIFIwake.exe (non-ROM attributed) exists on \Windows. After running Initial.exe, WIFIwake.exe is copied onto storage from ROM. You need to delete it before retry, if you have run Initial.exe before install ConnSBM.CAB or lost setting.
BTW, I guess this way can be applied not only Hermes, but also Universal and/or any other HTC devices those can edit OS ROM (at least, I have successed on WM6 for Universal).
Enjoy AT YOUR OWN RISK !
Great work, a lot of japanese people was pursuing this for long time! Congratulations
Awesome, I had been doing this same thing for 3-4 days no and getting nowhere.
Mad props to you.
I have the Hermes and I'll be going to work as an engineer in Japan from April. I have installed the DoCoMo ROM for the moment (simply because out of the two ROMs, it's the one to have Bootloader 1.0.4, I have no trouble reading Japanese, and I need a Japanese input that's a bit more stable than Bagoj's IME).
However I'm wondering exactly what this thread would enable me to do... I'm planning on getting a subscription with either SoftBank or DoCoMo (whichever provides SIM cards/accepts to register a foreign phone).
If I get a SoftBank subscription, would this enable me to somehow cheat the subscription on getting more Internet for free? Or if that's wrong, what exactly would it enable me to get?
I haven't looked into the phone subscription system at the moment, but soon will. Whatever this thread exactly means could be a huge help in any choice I would have to make.
Many thanks for your help in advance,
Cheers,
Yannick
Hmm, I get the connection added but when I try to run the initial.exe from Windows is doesnt do anything. Using 3DES Custom.

I finally got the program to work. Funny thing is that I could nt cook a ROM with the initial.exe in it of it would not install. I was using the Rom Koch 0.99 release. So if I just copied the files over to a fresh install of a ROM it worked but I had to click initial.exe about 4-5 times before the "loading" graphic appeared.
I am assuming that it either installs a dll with the password encoded in it of he knows the password and didn't want it to become public. Initial.exe puts the connection password in the connection that ConnSBM.CAB creates.
Without the initial.exe running you have the connection with a blank password.
Files
Seeing as how none of these files are in the ROM itself is there any way you can post a list of file to help us re-create the process?
Well done !!!
Finally we'll be able to upgrade to XDA Live of Crossbow without fearing to lose our flat rate !!

By the way anybody courageous and kind enough to cook it with the latest WM6 version and post the ROM ?
I am trying to do that but I am learning from scratch... and it will probably take me a huge amount of time
Actually the best would be to compile it with some utilities to be able to read Japanese fonts and input Japanese...
This is wonderful news indeed! Now we only need a way to cook Japanese fonts and stable input into new ROMs and life would be perfect...
Great!

Every time I cooked the "addfiles" the initial.exe would not run properly and create the connection. If I cooked the other files minus the initial.exe and the cab it still wouldnt create the password. I could only get it to work by copying the files after flashing. Anybody get it to work in a cooked rom?

More EASY way has been found!!!

Now you DON'T need any ROM cooking. Please move to new thread.

In P3600 software update space, in the HTC Europe website, yuo can download a configurator, easy to use, to set up ANY mobile operator in all european counties supported. Internet, Wap, MMS, ...

Could anyone who tries it for Orange UK confirm if it works.
I jut ran it quickly but only had time for a quick look. Initially seemed OK for internet but PIE would not connect (said connection error) - ran out of time and so reran the cab I use for settings (rabdos original cab I think) and then the connection worked.
Might look at it again later.

Great tool but....
when i install the configuration for germany and i also want this for austria, the german will be overwritten when i install the austrian configuration.
when i travel beetween three countrys this is not good because i take not every time my notebook with me.
Now is time for developers to convert in a PPC application all configuration files!
You have all the info's
cool thanks a lot dude
@heimerdinger.
Don't Quote Me On This One But, If You Dont Connect Your Hermes To Your PC And Then Run This Installer For The Language You Want. The Cab File That You Tried To Install Gets Saved To A Temp Folder To Be Installed The Next Time You Connect Your Device.
So Install The German And Austrian Languages Without Connecting Your Hermes, Then Search For The Cab Files. Copy Them Onto Your Device Then You Just Run Them When You Swap Between Countries.
Someone Please Correct Me If Im Wrong

You execute the installation sofware without phone connected, and get a message that says "next time you connect your phone, the soft installs". Before click in OK, search in Temp folder for the CAB. You will find it.
If you click OK, the installation software deletes the CAB.

Hey logoman, I think I have you on my MSN. But seeing as how your radio is 1.46 I will assume that your phone is pre-April; nice. Basically, just set up your phone to work with activesync (install activesync and connect your phone). Then head over to here and then here for more background info and install guides.
Oh yeah, you can install the English activesync from Microsoft's site as well. And if you haven't already, go ahead and install .net framework 2.0 (if you have an ATI video card, you may have this installed already).
As far as ROMs go, you can get a nice english rom from the board here with a search. There is schap's (3.54c is nice), vp3g and sleuth's roms. I am currently using SHOGUN by samurai-me (it's Japanese but there might be an english one available).
Good luck. Once you have activesync set up, flashing will be simple as its done through the activesync connection. If you ever get 'error 260', just head over to the wiki and read the 'flashing with micro SD' section.
