My Xda II is always charging. Even when is not plugged in.
Battery life is around 6 - 7 hrs.
First i thought that is the battery dead, but i tried with a new one.. and got the same result. He eats like 10 % in one hour.
Now I have Sin.Merged.V.2.0 but is not the soft fault.
I hared that I have do a hard reset but I don’t know how.
Anybody have an idea what to do so will not be on charge mode anymore ?
it's normal for a himalaya to charge up to 100% then run of the battery untill it reach a surden % and then begin charging once more
Is always on charging mode. Even when is not plugged in.
Probably a short on the pins on base of phone. Get a magnifying glass and take close look.
up
is not this .. i checked...
does anyone know ? why it shows charging and eats up my xda2 battery ?
I have the same problem! My XDA II is always charging. Even when is not plugged in. And i think it needs more thime for charging.
Battery life is around 4 hours.
I also tried hard reset a couple of times. It did not work. Still charging all the time!
I NEED SOME GOOD ADVICE ABOUT THIS.

ME TOO !! please anyone knows something about this ? Why is always charging and eats bettery life time ?
ok, so consider the possibility your battery is on the way out and you need to buy a new one, obviously if you haven't had the PDA/Battery wrong, this shouldn't be true, but nonetheless a possibiliy
always charging and eats bettery life time
I found out that my qtek 2020 has some other failure than yust bad battery. I took it to the service and they try with other battery and also put on my ppc new software (upgrade) but no succes.Battery still always charging and eats bettery life time.
:?:
up
yes i tried with a new battery and also made a software upgrade but still the same problem...it always says charging...
anyone knows a solution ?
There is a green lite always on. Usualy it is blinking and while it is always on, it needs at least 10times more power than usualy. This is the reason why battery life is so short.
On monday i will try to diskonect the green lite and hope solve the problem with battery life.
:?:
mm
no... don't do that ... the green light doesnt eat the battery...
the battery is eaten because the XDA thinks is charging...is not the light
maybe the pins are touching somewhere... this is what should cause this battery eating
You were right. 4 days testing my qtek2020 and result was mistake in mother board. Imposible to locate short. It is not in the pins, IT IS mother board...
I have battery problem too,
I read it must be alive 160 hours but my xda is down more speed
I changed my battery 2700 mA battery new one same problem continue
it finish speedly
could this problem electronic battery assambly of my xda IIi?
,,
well i sold mine... but i never was able to fix the phone... i dont think it was the batteries, nor the software... i think the phone was broken... in one way or another...
i wish you all luck with this problem... i hope you'll all fix it
had the same problem before, its still under warranty wayback that time, they said its a problem with the board inside. anyway they fixed it and replaced the circuit board inside. the call timers were revert back to 0 and my imei had changed so basically just like a new phone.

hello all,
i have spend the last 24 hours searching this forum, as any true newbie with an XDA should i got mine from a friend, but it was not used for over a year, so the battery was empty. i recharged the phone, but it won't turn on. i have readed a lot of topics here about phones that only go into bootloader, but mine does nothing at all. when i put it in the charger, the led turns red first and then orange and stays that way. it also won't turn on while it's in the charger.
i tried a soft and a hard reset, several times, i checked the battery, it gives 2.8-2.9 volts, i also tested the sim door switch, but that also seems to be ok.
also when i attach the USB cable to my pc (windows XP SP2 prof) it detects a device, but cannot make out what kind of, active sync also cant find the xda.
i don't know many more specs about it, cause i have not yet got it running. anyone got any sugestions for me that would bring back the phone to life?
greetings and thanks in advance!
These units tend to use a Lithium Ion battery:
If the battery is left plugged in and not charged for an extended duration, they tend to die beyond repair. Even though it says it may be charged, it is probable that it is not, and the unit will not power on without a certain amount of charge.
Is there any way you can try a known good working battery??
i know a few things about batterys too, so this thought had crossed my mind allready, but i hoped the xda would be able to run from the charger, so i could see if it was working.
the battery is coming back to life real slowly, but i think i'll have to look for a new one. the voltage is 2.93 volts at the moment and coming up with about .1 volt/hour. i think it needs to be 3.6 volts (like most lion accus)
tnx 4 the msg, if anyone has any other suggestions, would love to hear them
ps. maybe someone with an xda can measure his battery voltage for me so i can compare? you can check it on the back of your XDA with a simple voltage meter, just take the cap of the contact pins for the external battery and use the most left and most right pin.
Don't know about the XDA, but my XDA II does not run from the charger if the battery is removed or really flat - if it is really flat, I get nothing but a red lamp for a while till the charge has reached a certain level, then the unit turns itself on.
I am getting very poor battery life.
The battery drains within 24 Hrs to a dead phone.
Is it normal? I have heard, people talking about a battery life of 3-4 days.
What can I do to correct this problem.
Please help.
Hi Anand
I, too, had terrible battery life once I upgraded. I had heard that sometimes if you flash the ROM again over the last time it improves the life. I was skeptical ... until I did it last night.
My device was still at 94% when I woke this morning, and by 5pm this afternoon had only dropped to 87%. I have never had such great battery life! Never!
Give it a try. Can't hurt.
Kevin
I tried reflashing the ROM, but it did not had an impact on the battery backup.
Do I need to take care of something while reflashing it.
Thanks a lot for the reply and the help.
Has anyone else had issues with draining battery life? After flushing with the latest official ROM, 30% left after left switched off O/N!!!!
Any fixes? is it a known issue?
Thanks!
i am having the same problem...i also reflashed...but it seems like the device doesnt go to standby mode after 'x' minutes of inactivity as selected in the power options. is the same thing happening with u 2?
also, are u using O2 Plus?
initial charging
have tried recharging your atom for 8 hours when you first bought it? try it. it worked for me. it extended my batt's life
Yes, I am using O2 Plus, also, I think charging of Li-Poly Batteries does not require to be charged for 8 Hrs. Infact it may result into over charging.
By the way, I am getting precisely 24 Hrs of backup when using PUSH email support with Ms Exchange Server.
charging
check the manual.. it says there u need to fully charge the atom for 8 hours.. that's for the initial charging. i also called one of the reps in the service center for atom here in the phils and that was waht he told me to do. cheers mate
Hi try removing the WM5 Battery Icon on the top bar through the registry... i notice that helpson my atom. i have O2 batery meter running instead.
Re: charging
I have poor battery life as well. Unit is discharge within 12 hours.
I have a whole lot of applications installed, so after I've reinstalled the ROM, I'd my backup fully restored.
I am wondering if that's a mistake as it might also "restore" the issue with the battery life. Anyone has advise on this matter?
Thanks!
I neva did that 8hrs initial charge since too excited to explore on the 1st touch~ hehe..
Btw, it's said many times that plug-ins that probes hardware needs extra battery power ie. memory/battery/storage. I've none of those plugins and even on a2dp stereos, the battery only drops from 100 to 80+ on few hours of mp3s. Some players can switch off your backlight and still continue playing mp3s ie. WM10/TCPMP, see their button assignment options. You might also wanna remove that battery icon on the top right through the registry. Set the backlight 10secs, slider to 1-4 and power down 1min helps me alot too.
reflashing
heya ppl...what do you mean by reflashing?Cheers...
Battery Died on me
hey the battery was low, and i plugged it into the computer jack (to synchronize), which was supposed to rechareg the battery, an hour later, it beeped saying battery was too low, and was shutting down. and it shut off completely.
now i am rechanging with the charger, and the amber light is on.... but after 30 mins of charging, i still can't turn on the phone.
when i try, the green light seem to flash onmce every 30 seconds....... and i have put it back in the charger
when it completely discharges, do i have to fully recharge before i can switch it on?
Atom Manual Help
Well, after getting fed up with my poor Atom's battery life, I checked out the manual to see what it said about battery life. It does say to charge the battery for 8 hours intially, and for the first 3 charges after that you must drain it completely then recharge it fully--for a total of 3 times. Okay, so I did this and I haven't noticed a difference (I know others say you aren't supposed to do this with a Li-Ion battery but it's in the manual!).
Anyone else tried this?
The only other thing I haven't tried was reflashing (reloading the ROM).
It seems this issue is the bane of the Atom.
Battery life

Battery Drain
I already wrote about this in some other forum but this the same problem with my O2 with Bluetooth not more then 8 hours max. Without bluetooth. 20 to 24 hours.
I never leave any application running I use the memory settings to close all applications.
I still do not find any diff. I have closed the IR, I have reduced the backlight time to 10 Secs. I have reduced the backlight to 3. No change.
I have already complained about this to O2 but no result. They are probably stuck with Windows people not supporting them or with no solution. They are not even responding now on this issue. TOOOOO BAD
I hope someone can find a solution.
Flash the ROM exactly as per the procedure. Normally the last part is not read properly. After the ROM is flashed they ask to reset the device twice. One time a Hard Reset and another time a soft reset before you load the data and programs. If you follow the procedure properly maybe you will solve the battery problem like me and many others.
If you are using bluetooth switch it off and check you will come to know the exact battery life. Secondly in settings keep IR off. Backlight a bit low 3 or 4 as you get proper vision, without reflection and most of all saves battery. Most important close all programs by going to Settings>Memory>close all so that all applications will close and not consume the battery. This is a windows software flaw which needs correction but no one does anything for it, not even microsoft.
I am getting poor battery life with New ROM 20060426 i also reflashed but nothing
it's the same prob with old roms ??
thanx
did you perform reset twice after reflashing? first rard reset, second soft reset?
thanx kropotov with reset twice after reflashing all ok . after 24 hours battery still in 75%
thanx
Hi
I have a pretty serious problem with the battery life on my tg01! I've read the other threads here and at Modaco on the battery problems but thought I'd raise it again. I have a mugen battery now (1100) but am barely getting a couple of hours use. The battery indicator gets stuck and can go from 100% to 40 suddenly, before a few minutes later switching off. I have the original wm 6.1 rom and spb mobile shell 3.5, but the problem was there still when that was uninstalled. I can leave it charging overnight and the battery can suddenly drop and be dead in a few hours.
I'd have thought mugen battery, although only a 1100 one would have made the difference, but there's something definitely wrong because it should not be that bad!!!
What do you suggest is the best thing to do?? Will a different rom definitely solve it? or will it be down to one of the numerous programs I've installed? Or something else? A faulty phone?? It's a problem others definitely have, but is there a single working solution??
cheers!!
as far as i know battery life is a problem with all tg01's, atleast i have the same problem. the huge screen takes alot of power, add 3g or wifi and your phones going to be dead within 2 hours ! one way to overcome this is to make sure you disable data connections when not needed and reduce the backlight settings. i've been able to get over 24 hours using this method but if you want longer life the only real solution im aware of is to get the 2600 mugen battery.
EDIT: I should also mention sense and other memory hungry apps ie opera will effect battery life greatly, infact i find if i use sense my phone can be dead within 8 hours and thats with minimal useage. Constant use of opera will have the phone drained in a matter of an hour and a half.
As for a rom solving it, i dont really think its tied to a rom in anyway but you may want to try noskers rom - i find this one to be the most stable and battery life definately seems longer but i may be imagining that !
Get Task Manager, go to tab "Devices" and stop device "BAT1". Battery indicator will not work, but you can use tg01 till battery fully discharge. After power off (there will be no "shutting down" screen) plug charger immediately.
By this you will use all the capacity of battery, so you can determine if it's battery problem or tg01 battery level measuring circuit.
I've heard about battdrvr.dll modifications for other PPCs to use with higher capacity batteries, but couldn't find anything for tg01.
What Power Saving Settings do you use?

will try that definitely. it happens with the new mugen battery too however.
The Power Saving Settings I use are CPU medium (have tried low and high too), limit CPU speed for battery (tried on and off options) Wifi power consumption, restrict sleep mode OFF, Enable Wifi during sleep mode to OFF, backlight very low. Adjust backlight automatically OFF, 30 seconds backlight timer, 1 minute device sleep timer.
I am guessing there is a rogue program using up the CPU constantly running down the battery. Have you tried a hard reset? (probably a good idea to upgrade the ROM while your at it )
Well I've tried disabling the battery device in task manager. I'm not sure that made a difference, but at least I wasn't able to see the meter jump around..
a hard reset may well sort it, and may end up doing that. I can't see any high intensity CPU programs. anything else? will google latitude suck up the battery this quick?
One other thing which has started recently, which may persuade me to hard reset is that the blue led light flashes long after an sms has arrived. a soft reset stops this, but it will start again when another sms comes through. I've tried one such notification reset program on this forum but its made no difference.
what can be done to stop this?
Edit:
I should really have considered another post really called niggles I need to sort out on my TG01.
But how can I stop the screen going off immediately when a call comes in? I'd rather it waits say 10 secs then go off. the options in pocket toolman do not seem to work. I need the screen on a bit because often I switch to speaker straight away.
When I plug the charger in the TG01 the battery will charge up to 100%. The charging process will then stop (orange light turns off and never goes on again).
If my backlight or wifi is turned on, or anything else is running, the battery will start draining back down, but the charging process will not re-start. The battery will display 100% full as it might somehow detect the charger is plugged-in (?).
When I start using it, although the battery might have drained down to 40%, it will show 100% then suddenly jump to show the actual battery level.
I used to charge it overnight with backlight at full level and it would go from 100% to 0% after using it for a minute or two in the morning. I couldn't turn the device back on, even with charger plugged back in because the battery was so empty.
The trick is to turn off the backlight / wifi when it's done charging, or if you charge overnight, turn it completely off so it doesn't drain the battery when it's done charging.
hope this helps

This is not true. When the battery charges up fully, the orange charging light is extinguished to let you know it has finished charging, however the battery is still supplied with power to keep it fully charged. I know this because I use GPS alot on the phone and when it's fully charged using the car charger, it will still be 100%.
Try hard resetting your phone too. If it doesn't work, then there is something wrong with your phone!
Well it's bizzarre... the battery meter on the tg01 is certainly pretty dodgy.
with the flashing leds, what does anyone suggest? is there a way to change the led notifications back to default?
And regarding the screen going off immediately when a call comes in, it looks like there's no fix - similar threads still have no answer, unless anyone has more suggestions?
Update: I have done a full hard reset and a wm6.5 upgrade but the battery issues are still here. Has everyone who has had this issue taken it back to orange? It barely lasts 5 hours the battery.
Anything else at all to suggest???

I stand corrected.
While this was true before and had tested a few times with two different TG01 both with Orange UK stock ROM, I have retested it now and it does not happen anymore, but I have flashed a new ROM...
Apologies for the confusion.
Hi all
I was reading this thread and preferred to add my 'query' here rather than start a new one.
My TG01 has an original WM 6.5 rom minus the SPB Shell. I haven't experiences any negative experiences yet except for the fact that I have often heard about charging the battery for 8 hours etc and charging it with phone off which I always do except on few occasions I connect with USB cable to my pc /laptop...in my case I will charge my set with the toshiba wall charger that came with the set and orange LED will illuminate a few seconds after charger is plugged-in..from there onwards the orange LED will stay illuminated for maximum 3 to 4 hours and then will turn-off. I am not having any battery problems except for the usual battery drain depending on usage and apps but nothing unusual.
I'd like to know if this is normal? Is anybody else experiencing this? Not charging more than 3 to 4 hours (orange LED turning off after 3 to 4 hours).
I would appreciate some help on this 'doubt'
Thanks
I think it's problem with driver and charging akku. I have custom rom with 6.5.5
and when i charge my akku when it is on 20 % after 20-30 min shows me that 90 % full... After 1 1/2 hour akku full charged.

Well. it's not the solution, but this procedure can be a useful roundabout to access to wifi, or allow you to take a vital picture when you really need it and your battery is under 20% charge.
Imagine that you must send urgently a picture and you can't do it because someone from Toshiba decided this stupid limitation when you are at the end of the battery life.. following the maciek90's procedure, you can save this limitation and drain your battery up to the 0% if you want
Bravo maciek90! and thank you

guys, also another thing i learnt from my physics class is that putting a recharegable battery in the freezer for 1 hr, somehow give it longer battery! I tried this on my tg01 battery, it strangely worked , or it was all in my mind!
you've gotta make sure the battery isnt wet from condensation when you put itback in the phone! my battery last slightly longer. i dont do it often, only once every now and again... try at your own risk!

I definitely think it is either level measuring circuit problem or battery driver itself - not too big power consumption.
I can repeat without any problems situation where battery level suddenly decreases about 20-30% . I noticed it only during internet operations via GSM so utilizing radio. Why , I do not know . How to fix it ? I do not know yet but it is enough to restart system so that battery indicator start to show correct value - until next failure .
I thought when bad indication occures it would be enough to stop-start baterry driver using way You described. It does not work. Stopping driver cause battery indicator shows unknown level. Starting driver not fix it. Battery indicator still shown unknown value. Only restart fix it. It should not behave this way.
Maybe problem is not in driver but top bar of today screen when battery indicator exists, should have any kind of reset too?
BTH. What software is responsible for displaying battery indicator ?
Regards
fxdjacentyfxd
Today morning next described previously error concerned with GSM radio.
I had GSM radio switched off in the night and phone in sleep mode.
Morning, when I set phone to operational mode , battery indicator showed 50% - the same as yesterday evening.
When I switched GSM radio on, battery indicator suddenly showed 30% and none phone operation could change it. Only system restart caused battery indicator started to show correct value again - 50%

yes! i am not the only one! recently i got a data plan for my tg01. when i use the data connection for 1-2 minutes, the battery drops 10% and it will stay at its false value until i soft reset. i thought that the problem was with the rom that i was using but i guess im wrong. what ROM are you on? it is very annoying and i have to constantly reset my phone. i have done some test, and if i keep using it, on data, the battery could conpletely go dead like when it is out of power, then when i power back in it is back to its true value. any solutions?!
Anybody had this problem?
I've had my GS2 for nearly 3 months and all has been well. Coming from a Motorola XT720, EVERYTHING is better including the battery life.
Last week I noticed that when connecting the charger, it took a long time for the phone to register that it was connected, ie. it didn't beep, light up and show the charging icon. It was also slow to recognize that the charger had been disconnected. (The charging icon would stay on for some time after.)
I thought a re-boot would help and it threw up the big battery charging icon flashing alternately with the battery over heating icon! Even pulling the battery wouldn't stop the warning message unless it was removed for at least a couple of hours or re-booting via Home, Vol+ and Power.
Whilst all of this was happening, battery life plummeted. I normally get about 1-3% loss of battery per hour in standby but this increased to 5-10% per hour.
The phone has somehow regained its normal response to the charger being connected and disconnected but the poor battery life remains.
Its un-locked, un-rooted and running KF3:KE7:KD1
Any ideas before I do a complete reset?
I would get a new battery to start with, if you UK, 7dayshop.com have an 1800mah for only. £4.49 delivered.

Thanks. I forgot to mention that I've just bought an Andida "2000"mAh battery from Mobilefun. It's only had a couple charging cycles but it's behaving exactly the same as the original battery, which confuses things!
It could be that the problem is effecting it our it's just not working at it's full potential yet.
Sent from my GT-I9100 using XDA App
Even the biggest best know battery manufactures cannot make a 2000mah battery to fit the S2 without needing a replacement back cover, the new Samsung 2000mah needs one.
So the Andida "2000"mAh battery , is more likely to be around 1500-1800mah
Yep, if something sounds too good to be true, it probably is! Will probably return it and wait for the
official Samsung 2000 mAh.
Would still like to know what's going on with the sudden loss of battery life.
Sent from my GT-I9100 using XDA App
Since you have tried a second battery and the phone is acting the same way the fault must be with the phone, the charging socket is not loose or something?
Or maybe the phone charger is faulty, do you have a second to try?
It looks like you should try a reset before you seek refund/replacement.
hello so I have enjoying my phone for about 2 years.:laugh::laugh: but I had this problem recently. When I try to charge my phone when its about 30% below, It doesn't charge. When I plug my phone, the battery says the phone is charging but the percentage doesn't count, I mean battery percentage still reduces even tho it is charging. When it drains, it shows a battery with a yellow triangle and wont open again.
Any help? Anything I can do about this??

Try a new/different battery. It sounds like yours is about to die
oh sorry, I forgot to mention that, I have bought a new battery. An Original one. I think I bought it about 3 weeks ago
If you bought your 'original' battery from eBay, the chances are that it's the exact opposite of original......
That aside, I'm thinking that it *could possibly* be the USB port on the device.....
If as you say, your device is over 2 years old, you've done well for the port to last that long......
http://i.imgur.com/rVnFwJM.jpg
I have bought a usb board on ebay too, about month ago because the port's solder is messed up and I got no clue fixing it. It works for about a month properly. But I just had this problem.
I saw some articles outside XDA, that I should remove the battery, wait 10 secs, then plug charger and immediately insert the battery and turn it on.
My phone finally works, and it charges properly. But I have to do it a lot of times just my phone to charge hahahah!
Thanks mate :--)
Lol...well done fella. ...I didn't do a lot though....it was you that found the fix.....
This issue will more than likely happen again, but at least you now know how to sort it.....
