Hi,
I tried to upgrade my Himalaya to the latest O2 image (.187) with the
instructions mentioned by DCS. Changed also with the hexeditor the file
to reflect the new operator id, and still have the country id error. Even
worse, the update aparantly started to work since it put my device in the
bootloader mode, and now nothing works anymore....
Anyone ? First of all, getting it out of booloader mode would already be
nice....

Why not use er2003edit to change the operator instead of a hex editor?
This tool can be found on this forum.

Just try to chage operator etc. once again with er2003edit and then reflash it...
If it will not work, you can still fix it with SD card.

tried to uppgrade my device. upgrade failed.
On rebooting i wont go into bootloader mode, the blue led will just flash.
Is my device beyond rescue???

Hi Mark,
Tried that, changed it to CDL and WWE as seen in the file DeviceData
and tried again, same error again. I have the 1.06 bootloader, so I cannot
use SD-Card images... (as far as I understood)
Anyone any clues as how to get out of the bootloader screen ?

Tried that, to no avail, thanks for the tip !
Solved the issue, checked with google for HimaUpgradeUt and found
a version that does not do the countrycode check... It was mentioned
by the person on that forum as a 'very last resort' method. Well, for me
it worked fine. Here is the link.

After flashing my XDA2 to WM5 3.5a, i've tried merging storage & extended rom to gain memory by following a thread on Airfagev. After doing a hard reset, i found out that my phone is not responding and all i can see are black horizontal lines on the screen w/out backlight. I tried soft resetting it but still it stays the same.
Though i can still put it on bootloader mode, it also wont finish reflashing and an error message appears that goes like this:
ERROR 100: Model ID Error
The ROM image you are trying to use is not designed to work with your Pocket PC.
Is there any way for me to fix this problem? I really need help from anybody who's knowledgeable enough in solving this problem coz' i am new in this field.

Thank you. I can now reflash my device to WM2003 but not to WM5.I think it's because of the bootloader which is v 1.06.Is there any way to change this to v 1.03?

I'm a hp rw6828 user and is very much enthusiast to try out those wm6 roms made by those experts. However, i did a mistake while trying to flash.
I tried flashing with a rom from wantat but i forgotten to delete the EBOOT.nb0 before i clicked "upgrade". Then the program stopped at 6% for a long time and didnt move. I disconnect the cables and tried to turn the device on.
THe device can go into the wm6 and the start button can be use but the screen is "moved" to the right side and other function is not working.
After that, i did a hard reset and the the os seem to work like normal. However, when i tried to go into bootloader mode by pressing both "_" and soft reset. That didnt work. I tried another way by taking out the batt, leave it for a 10mins, press both "_" and soft reset, put in batt, release soft reset then "_" keys. That didn't work either.
But, just lately, i've tried taking out batt, holding the camera key and softreset, place back batt, release soft reset n camera button. This method works and i get what it seems to be an atom bootloader?
i get a black background with "MN1 Bootloader Mar 29 2006 13;52;14 copyright..... 1) debug module through UART 2) jump to DM Enter your selection.
I've searched the forums and found few ways to downgrade back to wm5 but those aren't the same conditions with what im facing. Can someone recommend how can i downgrade back to wm5 with the conditions that im facing? All you help is much appreciated. THank you.
You are lucky , at lease your device now become atom. My was totally cannot on power and just vibrate. Till I have to sent it back to HP SC and change the main board . Can you understand chinese , if yes than I have a solution you may try . Else you have to wait . I just download a program and doing some testing , the program is in chinese language .

Is it possible to solve the problem by sending back to hp using warranty claim? I think i still have warranty left but its ending very soon. One more week i think.

I don't think you still can claim under warranty unless you can make your phone total can't on and access to windows mobile. Last time I sent it back they charge me RM 385 to change the main board . I did talk to their technical personal , it seen like they don't know what is bootloader and flash it back to original rom . What they do was just change the main board with preloaded program .

If you think that you can claim you warranty , than you just go a head . If not , may be you can access my thread "HP6828 WM6" , download any one of the rom that I post , follow the instruction accept downgrade bootloader . Enter your phone in bootloader mode . If you can start the process , than it will flash a new hp bootloader into your phone .

You've flash ATOM Bootloader, there are many ways to restore to HP Bootloader ... don't worry !!!

Can share the information how to restore back the HP original bootloader ? And the procedure . Thanks
First you must have HP bootloader file (Eboot.nb0) 1.01 or 1.05 are OK.
- Use DRUU to restore Bootloader : replace ATOM bootloader file with HP bootloader file
- Use miniSD to restore Bootloader : copy Eboot.nb0 to miniSD card, go to bootloader ... wait 1' it will auto hard reset.
After flash successfull remmember remove Eboot.nb0 from miniSD.
- Reflashing Bootloader using JTAG. (Use only when can't use two above menthods)

You should use DRUU of Chartreux, replace Eboot.nb0 and choose OS and Eboot
Remember copy a HP68xx ROM (diskimage_Ver.nb0) to C:\Windows\Temp with DRUU of Chartreux then start...

-You must extract RUU in C:\Windows\Temp (no sub folder) then replace Eboot.nb0 with Hp bootloader 1.01/1.05
-Copy a diskimage_Ver.nb0 (any ROM WM6 for HP 68xx) to C:\Windows\Temp
-Run the DRUU program and choose OS and Eboot and start.

It worked! Thx a lot nhocbanme and wantat. The methods restore the atom bootloader to hp bootloader. The DSUU by chartreux is a good tool.

help !!
im facing another problem again...
this time i changed the file extension EBOOT0502_MNT_01.01.03.nbf to EBOOT0502_MNT_01.01.03.nb0
(file from HP official WM5 SP34074, inside the installed folder )
and copy to memory card and put in 6828 then started to go bootloader screen
few minutes later my screen goes blank, and i tried with the revive methods
which is
-press the 2 softkey " - " and reset button
-put in the battery ,
-release reset, then release softkey
but didt work out!!!!no repsponse at all..tried many times..possible dead ad???
plz help me abit ..big troblem!
I dont think i can help u much here as im still new. From the looks of your problem, i guess u forgotten to cut the first 12bits (or something like that) of your bootloader when u use it to flash via mini sd. Maybe you can try the JTAG method mentioned in the atom wiki to restore your bootloader. Good luck.

The same exact thing happened to me yesterday..I was already about to sell my ipaq as a dead unit and i came upon this thread and after following the steps it did made ipaq alive again..

Hi there, I have just upgraded or should i say tried to upgrade to the new WM6 coffie ROM and the Krystal ROM but with both of these I can flash, however upon reboot it stays at the 3 colour screen
I have followed the Hard SPL guide for a G3 ---- Check
So what have I done? please someone help - it's a mates phone
also I tried to go back to the original WM5 from the FTP site, but it fails because I have updated the SPL, I would appreciate a link to a WM5 that doesn't check and that is in english........ if that would fix the problem
One last thing - i tried to use the update tools again but it says there is no device connected so I did a hard reset and tried again but no go, after a hard reset i can flash the other roms though

Hey there, would this be the problem? I thought Jumpspl was included in the initial upgrade tools folder?
Is this the same? and also does this problem (tri color screen) happen when it hasn't been properly flashed with the hard spl?

that is good and for experience users, mine is mostly for juniors. Please read and nothing bad.
The jumpspl... 100% work, and follow the steps, never fail.
Will your method work when not booting?
Just read your method and I hope to try it soon, but will your method work if it is not booting --- the method sounds like it needs the system to boot is this correct?

What IPL/SPL it displays now ? ,Does it get into Bootloaders ? if it still does than download and flash 'wizard_love_rom' hope it'll recover back.

It just boots into a white screen. If i hold the camera and power buttons together it boots into bootloader mode, and says USB in the bottom corner. (when i am conncected via usb) but the problem is that active sync doesnt recognize it in bootloader mode. I have tried flashing it in many different ways and i have had no success.
When i go home i will try wizard_love_rom.
and as for the IPL/SPL, i will also check that when i get home.
Where can i download the wizard_love_rom?

So, I flashed my phone with the "Wizard_Love_2.26.10.2_WWE_Novii_CF2.rar"
which i found the download for over a quick google search, and now i want to update to winmo6 or 6.1.
Can you send me the link for the easiest way to do it on a G4 cingular 8125 (HTC Wizard.)
I have never CID unlocked, which was probably why i got the white screen earlier. but do i need to do it know that i am on the wizard love rom?

Glade its working again !
You got a G4 device,it cannot be CID unlocked,but however,it can be upgraded to wm6 or 6.1,read the methods 'HardSPL' or 'SoftSPL' posted as stickies in the G4 forum for upgrading to wm6 or 6.1.

I know that this may be getting a little annoying for you and im sorry for that, but i need your help on this. I am currently running the wizard love rom. And I have Hard SCP'd.
I have to problems:
1. My EDGE doesn't work, i only get GPRS speed data.
2. I can't upgrade to any new rom..... i always get "ERROR [300] Get a newer update utility!"
How can I fix both of these problems?
I have searched forums and google and nothing has come up.

ok,for error (300)you can use the RUU MUNS already posted in the 'HardSPL' thread,download the RUU_MUNS application extract it to a folder and copy and paste all the files of this extracted to the folder of the Rom replacing all the RUU files in that folder or copy the nk.nbf folder in the Rom to the extracted folder of the RUU_MUNS and then run the RUU,it will start to flash and complete and hopefully fully boot up.
For edge or gprs,you'll have to get network settings of your network carrier or check out the thread from where you downloaded the rom,its uaually posted there or check out the 'Network' thread.

what does that means & asolution to it during rom update
ERROR [294] : INVALID VENDER ID
One of these error messages will appear when you use the wrong RUU to do the upgrade. RUU will check if the Model ID and Language ID are compatible with the device. Make sure you use the appropriate RUU tool to upgrade.
