Need Help! How to upgrade the Bootloaders? Thanks! - MDA II, XDA II, 2060 ROM Development

I found my XDA can not upgrade rom.
It always say Error 121: Language ID Error after run Himaupgradeut.exe.
My friends have a Bootloader 1.02 & 1.06 also no problem for upgrade rom.
But my Bootloaders is 1.03 it can not upgrade.
How to upgrade the Bootloaders? Thanks!

Does bootloader version change after upgrade to new ROM

Hi all,
Can someone confirm that the bootloader isn't being upgraded after upgrading to a newer ROM.
For example my current ROM is 1.60.00WWE with bootloader V1.02
If I upgrade my XDA to a newer ROM let's say 1.72.00WWE does this upgrade alter my bootloader version to 1.06?
Thanks in advance.
Mark
- upgrading to 1.66 leaves bootloader as it is
- 1.72 will replace bootloader by v1.06 (and all that little side effects you can read about here)

Hi Peter,
Any idea to which ROM I've to upgrade to upgrade my bootloader to 1.03?
thanks
Mark
after playing around with several german and english rom-upgrades it seems to me that no rom-upgrade up to 1.66.xxx changes the bootloader. the first rom-upgrade changing the bootloader is 1.72.xxx so i think there is no rom-upgrade with a bootloader 1.01/1.02/1.03 in it.
originally i had v1.01 on my device. when i upgraded to 1.66.231ger i still had v1.01 but since i upgraded to 1.72.751ger i have v1.06 and now i cannot downgrade to rom-versions before 1.66. when i downgrade to 1.66 bootloader 1.06 still stays on the device.
what i am still missing is an official rom-ugrade to a german 1.72 because the one i did was a rom-dump of a brand new eplus qtek to sd-card. this work for exactly one time and replaced my bootloader by 1.06 then i downgraded to 1.66.231ger and everything was fine. but there is no way to perform the upgrade to 1.72 by sd-card again because now i get the message "update not allow". i think this is because of the wrong country-id of the rom-dump on sd-card (which was no problem for bootloader 1.01 but 1.06 cares about and denies).
so i hardly wait for an official 1.72.xxxger where i can change country-id by er2003edit.
greetings

aku versions

Hi guys,
sorry if this seems a silly question, but I really looked to see if I could find any info on this...but I might be just bad at searching?
Anyway, with the apologies behind us, here goes:
Is there any way to know (either from the version number or by any of you telling me) which AKU version the ROMS posted here have?
I currently have AKU 2.3 (in my 1.18.255.3 ROM, date 05/30/06, radio 1.03.03.10, 1.04 bootloader QTEK_001 CID) and am considering upgrading.
Do any of these roms contain a newer AKU version? If so, which?
As long as I have your attention anyway: I've been reading a lot on upgrading on this (GREAT) forum, but it's slightly confusing: Am I correct in assuming that if I SUPER-CID my Hermes and flash it with a newer ROM with bootloader 1.09, that I can always go back to bootloader 1.04? Or is it that once I load 1.09 then I'm stuck with it?

See here:
http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=Hermes_Upgrades
The column named "OS Build":
- if it ends in 2.3.0 means it's an AKU 2.3
- if it ends in 2.6.0 means it's an AKU 2.6 (currently only cingular's 1.31 rom)

By now, If you flash 1.09 you're stuck with it unless you use some "illegal" files that where removed from this forum some time ago. I am working on a new solution to downgrade, but is not ready yet...
Has anyone compared the 1.31 (aku2.6) and 1.35(aku2.3) roms yet? Any differences in speed or handling?
Hey thanks pof!
Ok in hindsight it seems logical to look at the build date for the AKU but I really overlooked that...DOH!
So I guess the best thing for the moment would be to wait for either a AKU 3.2 ROM or a way to revert bootloader 1.09 to 1.04.
As far as I understand it now: If I flash this Cingular AKU 2.6 ROM now I will get bootloader 1.09 and therefore I won't be able to upgrade to a AKU 3.2 ROM unless it happens to be a AKU 3.2 ROM with the same CID (from Cingular in this case, because that's the only AKU 2.6 ROM)
Check?
Not necessarily, you could CID-unlock your phone first.
so you mean that if I CID unlock my phone first, then flash it to a new ROM with bootloader 1.09, that it would still be possible to flash it back to some ROM with bootloader 1.04?
That is possible, but not directly. After upgrading to a rom with 1.09, you have to downgrade the bootloader to 1.04 via this method. After that you can flash any rom you want, or upgrade your radio-rom only, as i did.

Wait, I thought even the imei-check method did NOT work on Bootloader 1.09. The Cingular ROM 1.34 is Bootloader 1.06 - so it should work there, but I thought NOT on Bootloader 1.09.
Am I confused?

Yes, if and only if you CID Unlock first you'll be able to flash ANY rom with bootloader 1.04 when you are on 1.09, BUT after the update the bootloader version will still be 1.09.

This is only needed if you want to go back to bootloader 1.04, but not really necessary if you are happy with 1.09.

Ok, I think I got the radio rom issue confused with the bootloader - since they showed up in the same bulk pack upgrader.
Thanks for the clairification!

I couldn't upgrade my radio rom with 1.09, after downgrading to 1.04 i could.
I have the 8525, installed obviously is the newer ROM, but 2.3 AKU. Is the other ROM/AKU 2.6 package worth trying? I know there were only few updates w/2.6, why did they go back to 2.3 with the newer ROM?

Tried a few different ROMs on mine. Have found that the new 1.35 HTC South African ROM seems to work the best for me.
Thread is here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=284043&page=3
Post #26 has a nice comparison table compared to other ROMs, well worth a look.
S.K.
Thaks for the advice. I have upgraed to this ROM.
How do I set up the phone for data connections now that I am using this ROM? Do I have to set up manually? I triede unlocking and replacing the extended ROM w/Cingulars, but it didn't set up the 3g connection for me. I had to do it manually. Did I miss a few files? I'd hate to have to google the settings every time I hard reset...

Downgrade to original Rom

Hi all,
recently i upgrade my Tytn to last rom available here. I´m a bit disapoiting about this upgrade so i´m considering the possibility to roll-back to original rom.
Since last upgrade change my bootloader to 1.09 and my original was 1.04, to roll-back i just have to run rom package or i have to do something before the downgrade?
Thanks in advance

Can you tell the inital and upgraded ROM / Bootloader versions ?
Hi,
I had this package:
ROM - 1.18.255.3 07/22/06
ExtROM - 1.18.255.106
Radio - 1.03.03.10
Bootloader - 1.04
and i instaled last one available here.
Rom - 1.35.255.2 11/14/06
Bootloader - 1.09
(....)
Let me say that i bought my Tytn "free" unlock. I have no problem about this issue.
Is there any problem instaling original package? Bootlader turns again to 1.04 or remains 1.09?
Thanks in advance
i think you still can downgrade it to the original rom version as the CID is the same, but the bootloader should remain 1.09. here's a quote from the wiki.
Bootloader 1.09 DOES NOT allow DOWNGRADING of itself by means of flashing earlier ROMs. Once installed it is IMPOSSIBLE to DOWNGRADE SPL 1.09 to 1.06 or 1.04 by regular means!

doesn't making the device SuperCID fix this problem?
[edit] and by problem, I don't mean getting 1.04 back, I mean there's really no point since you can flash any ROM you wish anyway, and I'm seriously asking cause I'm not sure [/edit]

yes, if your device is supercid, you can flash the roms from different vendors. what is recommended for all is making the device supercid while you are still at the bootloader 1.04. if your device was made supercid while you had the original rom with the bootloader 1.04, you shouldn't have any problems with flashing whichever rom although the bottloader will remain 1.09 in your case.
You can flash any ROM that matches your CID. If you have SuperCID you can flash every ROM. The bootloader will remain 1.09 though.

Confused About Upgrading to Newer ROM and Still Keeping Bootloader 1.04?

I have searched and tried to find this answer, but now I am more confused... So please be gentle with the flaming.
I have an unlocked Cingular 8525. I down graded to bootloader 1.04 using Cingular ROM 1.30.502.1 and SUCCESSFULLY made my device superCID according to the detail direction in the wiki. THANKS FOR THE INSTRUCTIONS!!!
My confusion comes with the fact that I want to have newest OEM ROM from Cingular, 1.34.502.1, but I also want to upgrade the radio version... But when I upgrade to the newer 1.34.502.1 ROM, I get bootloader 1.06... BUT I read that I need bootloader 1.04 to change the radioROM... But as far I read, I would have to go back down to the earlier 1.30.502.1 ROM.
QUESTION:
How do I keep bootloader 1.04 with upgrading back to ROM 1.34.502.1, so I can have the newer ROM and be able to upgrade my RadioROM also?
Thanks
Ron

Downgrade then install the 1.01MFG bootloader. After that extract the OS from the NBH of the ROM you want and flash it. You can then keep 1.01MFG bootloader or change it back to 1.04. Its all in the wiki.

Couldn't you just upgrade the Radio and the Extended Rom and still have the old boot loader?
Wouldn't this provide the same end result?

I had the EXACT same question...It turns out that you can upgrade the radio with the German version since your device is SuperCID. So I was able to upgrade to radio 1.27 with BL 1.06
..... and then....
I learned about the 1.01MFG wiki ... and I followed the instructions and was able to (first) flash 1.01MFG and (second) flash BL 1.04... so now I have 1.34 ROM, 1.27 Radio and 1.04 BL...
It took alot of reading and questions for me to figure it out....I hope my pain is your gain.

Which is your device,G3 or G4 ?
If you have a CID locked G3 phone, there's no need to use 'ShellTool',the T-mobile is also an official rom with its own extended rom,it'll flash easily, just flash it straight without shelltool.
thank you for the reply zabardast_1
I have a G4 device
I have tryed running the official RUU, but get an error message, because I think the device is CID locked. That is why I used shelltool (and also tryed soft SPL and hard SPL without any luck flashing the comeplete ROM)
As I said, I can flash the OS ROM using shelltool, but not extended ROM. Is it possible to flash the whole RUU?
I've been searching the various forums to see if there is a (free) method of CID unlocking a G4 device, but I think many may have lost interest with the wizard with all the other devices coming out.
Any and all help gratefully received. Thank you

G4 device cannot be CID unlocked,if you want to upgrade or install any other rom use 'SoftSPL' or 'HardSPL',
YES ! you can only flash 'nk.nbf' (OS files) only with SoftSPL or HardSPL,but Extended_rom is not possible.
