Hello
2 days ago I got a T-mobile MDA from a friend. Only the MDA and a cradle. It had not been used for at least half a year. At first I could not make it work as it did not react to the stylus on the touch screen. But after some resets it slowly came on, and was fairly working (slow sometimes)
As I wanted English SW, I downloaded one and installed. After some time the problem came again, and I decided to switch back. Then it stopped working again.
Sometimes I can get to the calibrating touch screen, but then it stop reacting.
I read about similar problems on this website, but I cannot install the file tpenable.exe until I get into operating system, and can use the touch pad.
I tried with a couple of ROM-versions, but it seems to have no influence. Still, to me it feels like a SW-problem.
Anyone have some suggestions?

Follow up
Here is a follow up on my problem:
I discovered that if I press hard at the lower quater of the touch screen, sometimes it works again. This points more to a HW problem.
I took the MDA apart a couple of times, but could not see anything wrong. Does anybody know how the touch screen technically works?
I noticed in another post about someone with a similar problem. Do anybody know what exactly he was soldering?

I have a T-Mobile Pocket Phone Edition,
It's had a rough life but as kept going for over 3 years now.
For the last year I would have to realign the screen 2 or 3
times a week but over the last few months it keeps getting worse.
Sometimes the screen won't respond to anything anywhere,
then after I tap it a few times boom works fine.
Sometimes I'll tap on the “Ok” and the “Start menu” will activate.
Sometimes drawing a line up the center of the screen will end up
shooting all over the screen.
And sometime it will work perfectly!
I thought the problems were to erratic to be hardware so
I hard set after awhile it started again,
So I hard set and installed a different ROM after a coupe hours
the problem was back.
Also sometimes the align program will get stuck in a
loop that doesn't end.
I've searched but can't find an answer? Anyone have an idea?
I've already taken it a part once but couldn't see how to get
any further after I toke the back panel off? Please help!
WOW nobody? So no one was heard of this problem before?
Can anyone direct me to directions on taking apart the Wallaby?
Thanks <><
It's a problem with touch screen. You should check (and fix) it.
Maybe it is necessary to press well screen to the motherboard. (Sorry my english).
Ok, Can you tell me where that connection is?
Thanks
Toke everything apart, found the connection, cleaned everything (w/ screen wipe)
put it all back together. Still have the touch problem and now the backlight won't work!
I've found if I press the unit in my hand the touch panel works right,
I don't think it's a lose connection to the main board so I think it must be
one on the main board.
If anybody thinks they want it for parts let me know! :?

BEFORE YOU RAISE YOU QUESTION,

ok ?
[QUOTE=..................
the same problem (i think it is the same) here..
it occurs generally while i am playing games and typing so many letters for sms's.
the problem has been existed since i have bought my prophet. the problem was there on official wm5 rom. using wm6 or 6.1 roms didn't fix it, but decreased a little (or i quit playing games so much).
since i couldn't enter the pin to unlock, two or more times i couldn't make an urgent call, then i soft reset it..
i thought that it is affected by heat changes when the battery consumption is high or when i hold it in my hand very long time. i also thought that it is a hardware problem, but not sure.
recently, i do not use my prophet so much, then it hasn't annoyed me for a long time..
sory,
i should have defined the problem mentioned above:
- when i touch a point on the screen by stylus (or any other way)
it assumes that i touch some pixels left of the point i intend.
- in a few minutes, sometimes this shift increases about one or two centimeters, sometimes it stay one or two letters left of the intended letter on a standard keyboard.
- this shift is much more on the right part of the screen, it gradually decreases towards the left side, and finally it exact macthes that your pressing point.
think of a rubber band, fix one end onto the left edge then stretch it to the right, this is the touch screen you see. release it to shrink it, now this is the way that it assumes you touch on it.
- after soft reset, generally the problem's gone, sometimes not.
- after re-aligning the screen, it's gone, but when somehow the cause gets remedy after a while, it occurs reverse way, then you should correct the screen alignment again (
screen misaligned
I have the exact same problem for years, I would say ever sice I got it. It's happens just like atakatas says.
Just something I noticed, It happens to me when I keep it in my leg pocket, and usually I don't soft reset nor realign the screen. I used to do that, but then I found out that waiting a few seconds it would get back to normal.
So I never asked anything arround here because it really didn't look like a software problem. I would say it is climate sensitive
Cheers

I had the exact same problem, and I had to hard reset everytime, but as soon as I would press the end key it would be unresponsive. What I learned is that right after you hard reset you should only try waking pressing other keys than the end key and let it go to sleep by itself. Also did you use any EVO android builds, or Android at all, not sure if it's relevant, but that's where it all went wrong for me with the EVO build. I do find it quite odd that quite a few people are experiencing the same thing with the touchscreen and it also seems that there really isn't a solution to this. I had to send it in for a repair, and it got fixed pretty quick. Perhaps this needs to be investigated more.
i have same problem with my htc hd2
it is so annoying. i will send to repair service too..
hey i have the same problem too ! did you installed the new c0okies home tab ? because i did and after that it start it messing up.. well i did a thread yesterday about this.. the only responses i got was to send it back to repair. I just did not turn off the screen for nothing today during the whole school day it almost finisihed the whole day, it last it me about 6 hours without turning off the screen, otherwise the touchscreen becomes unresponsive.
Temporary fix/test
I just fixed it temporarily, i fixed it by taking off the battery cover and pressing down on the htc logo (below lcd) and pressure on both the front and back of the phone where the htc logo is.
if you do this and it fixes it, you most likely have a dodgy lcd/digitiser flex ribbon cable.
Last month, buy a ViewPad 10s. Great device. Thanks to this forum I can install the market and install many things. Until one day, after seeing a movie (Mobo player) I started missing the touch screen. I could not even unlock it!. I turned it off and set aside. The next day started as if nothing had happened. But with the passing of a few days, began to fail often, and not resolved by switching off. Until today that is totally screwed. Not react as it should, and I can not access at all to any of the functions. Here's a short video of what I'm telling you.
(search in youtube "viewpad 10s touch screen problem", the one from chgalvez user)
I've tried calibrate.ini, and almost all .apk calibration apps that are in the forum. I've try as last chance to upgrade with an official rom from viewsonic(1.09), but dont' work neither.
Anyway I think I can't prove anything more as the touchscreen almost no response at all.
Anyone have an idea if there a method to calibrate from the outside, with a USB cable or something?
thanks in advance and sorry for my english...

It never worked here (first day I have it) and now I even can't pass lockscreen (with viewcomb and original software I even couldn't select a language to pass the homescreen).
Why can't this be done in recovery?
My screen problems seem to come from my gtab being very sensitive to cold. When it is warm it works great, but when it is cold it is nearly non-responsive.
Had a similar issue. I plugged in a USB mouse and unlocked it and got to my calibration and ran it... It worked like a charm after that.
Hey
After 2 years of using my HTC HD2 I have a problem with ON/OFF key.
It just stop working. I think it's not a key problem, because even if it's not responding if I'm pressing it it's sometimes turn my phone ON or OFF by itself.
I would live with that, letting him to just turn OFF after one minute not using it and turn it ON be pressing any other key but it also drains battery a lot.
Even if I'm not using it (during the night) the battery power in the morning is about 35% (after full charge in the evening).
I thought it might be some OS problem so I have done hard reset and went back to default OS.
This fixed the problem, but after 2 weeks it's back again.
Is there someone out there who had this problem?
Does anyone know any solution?
Thanks
farral
Ps. Sorry for my English as it's not my native language.

the same here. this is a hardware fault. i have luck. my hd2 is in warranty. hope yours too.
regards, interceptor
Yeah, it looks like a hardware problem but there is a strange thing. When I take the battery out for an hour or longer and then put it back in, everything works as normal for some time (an hour or so). Isn't it strange?
So now I'm thinking about two solutions.
Disassemble my HD2 and take a look at it from inside
or
just check and install Android on it (maybe its not a hardware issue)
Do you know where can I find assemble instruction for HD2?
I have unscrewed those 4 screws but don't know what next. Cant find any snaps.
I'm not worrying about disassemble it as I have done it with my previous HTC HD and it's very simple, until you know what to do.
Edit: I have found disassembling and assembling instruction video on YouTube.
I put here links to it if someone need it
Disassembling - http://youtu.be/cL-jnUKufC4
Assembling - http://youtu.be/t8Q7mXdcJ54
I think it's time to try to fix it.
Or maybe I should get an insurance first?
