[Q] about flashing modem on custom ROM

hello,
i live in israel and with cellcom provider.
right now on cognition 1.31, i am looking for a my cellular provider Modem which comes in the CSC(?) on 2.3.3 HEBREW ROM.
is it possible to use 2.3.4 firmware with a CSC that came from 2.3.3 ROM?
switching the modem is possible when you switch CSC or is the process different?
if so, how can i extract the provider modem in orfer to flash it onto my ROM..
if the question is why- its because i have issues with GPS and such and also i think it would improve my battery time.
thanks
Hm, not really sure what exactely you're trying to do.
Modem and CSC are two totally different things.
The Modem software is the firmware of the actual radio/modem device that handles all the traffic to and from the cell network, WiFi and bluetooth.
The CSC is a set of settings, parameters and options.
So, you want to modify/edit settings, like APN or the such, or you really want to flash a new modem firmware/software?
The modem software is part of the firmware ROM .tar, look for modem.bin, that's the one.
Yes, can be flashed independently from the current ROM installed.

XWKF1 radio modem

Hi,
May I know where to get the XWKF1 radio modem, I just wanna flash the radio modem. Thanks.

latest modem for telstra network.

since moving from 2.3.3 to to 2.3.5 ive had stability issues and signal drop outs.
ive kept the kf2 modem during the change over and suspect that i may need to upgrade the modem to the latest version compatible for telstra and i will also move to 2.3.6 (stock) soon.
what is the latest modem version that works nicely with telstra's 3g network in AU.
Both Voda and Telstra sell the I9100T which uses a different modem to the international model. Last I heard, the latest modem was released by Voda - I9100TDUKJ1.
But you might want to check / ask on the Aussie forum below.

There is also a modem thread which has all the worldwide T model modems.
Edit: modem thread. Check post 3

Is the file above able to be flashed via odin or is it for a rooted phone with clockworkmod?
At this stage my phone isnt rooted.
CW. If you want to flash it with Odin, extract the modem.bin file & put that in the "phone" section of Odin & away you go.

Click to collapse
so .bin will work fine in the phone section of odin.
shouldnt it be in the tar.md5 format?

[Q][ICS 4.0.3][I9100XXKP8] No roaming?

Dear all,
I'm been using westcrip's excellent ROM (clean / full wipe).
After setting the APN (Tele2, Netherlands, requires roaming) and enabling data+roaming in settings, I get the warning message stating that roaming is switched off.. Thus, no 3G is possible.
Is this problem related to:
the carrier Tele2?
kernel settings?
modem firmware?
I couldn't Google it of find related topics..
Thanks in advance for any advice!
Greetz,
nomiz
Any really its based on a beta test rom not released by Samsung that includes kernel and modem .
If its ok on stock then its the rom .
jje
CM7 Android 2.3.7 works great, it comes with KI4 modem firmware.
Ok, so its not that my carrier is incompatible (for now) with the new modem firmware?
Is it just that the broadcasted frequencies or protocol don't match?
I've tried all of these CWM flashable Modems:
XXLP1
XXKPA
XXKP8
XXKP4
Problem remains: warning message stating roaming is disabled/
Am I the only one experiencing this probem?

Baseband / Modem / Connection 925f vs 925s

my korean friend comes to germany with his 925s - ... BOG3 on board. Here he choosed O2 for having german net and in my office full LTE/4G. Me with my 925F - ... BOG1 on board I`m connected to d1 and in my office 3G with one bar!! We changed sim cards and tadadada: d1 with full LTE/4G in his korean mobile! My question: is it possible to flash his modem.bin (I know I have to change to modem.tar) from his rom? I remember flashing note 2 - there we had to flash more than modem files to connect the modem.bin to the complete rom on the phone.
