Hi,
First many thanks to all people here at the forum who makes the day better and more interesting for mobile nerds like me. I have been lurking around here for a long time and enjoyed every minute of it.
My problem :
Since my x7500 is SIM unlocked and with a standard setup as far as I can see I tried the HTC VM6 Rom flash without CID unlock.
That was stupid. Very stupid, since I don't have the providers orginal ROM available.
My x7500 will not accept the HTC VM6 ROM and is stuck in Bootloader with "USB" at the bottom of the screen when connected to my PC. Hard reset does not start the normal "installation"
When I start the VM6 flash program I get the famous "provider error message"
Is there any possibility to unlock the CID in Bootloader or "flashing" the bootloader to use the original ROM image at my device for a re-install ? In that way I could use the X7500 unlocker in VM5 and then flash to VM6 after.
If not re-installing the original ROM or unlocking the CID is possible I guess my x7500 is seriously bricked.
I am sorry if the answer to my problem can be found in other treads here. I have searched and read a lot without any success. I know now that I should have unlocked the device before trying to flash -> can only blame my one stupidity.
I will be very happy for every advice.
Greetings, Eric

There were four ROMs posted here some time ago. At least one of them didn't require the unit to be SPL / CID unlocked. Try to get hold of one of those - look in the Athena WM6 forum (where this should have been posted)

Thanks for reply.
I suppose you mean this four Rom's :
http://uploaded.de/?id=j2pv51 - ROM ver 2.20
for use with the athena_upgrade program
http://uploaded.de/?id=0v9mm1 - flasher for SuperCID devices only
works only for supercid devices
http://uploaded.de/?id=430xr4 - HTC__001 - version with spl,ipl and etc
works with CID HTC__001 and SuperCid
http://uploaded.de/?id=wbbw2u - T-MOB005 - version with spl,ipl and etc
works with CID T-MOB005 and SuperCid
As I understand my x7500 is not unlocked/superCid'ed and I need a ROM with exactly the same CID as on my device. Or am I far out ?
Or should I be able to use one of them even if the CID don't match ?
Thanks, Erik

Hi Mackaby, thanks for the answer.
That was the first ROM I tried to flash. Gave me error message "wrong vendor, check your update software"
Now I only get bootloader when I start my device. I have(had) a Norwegian ROM so I guess the CID does not match. I wish I unlocked my device before trying the WM6 ROM but......
Now I am stuck : Cannot boot / install my original ROM or install any.
My hope is that I can either unlock my CID in Bootloader or installing the original ROM again with a hard reset. To bad a hard reset only sends me to bootloader.
try this commands in mtty:
set 14 0
task 8
If it doesn't boot OS after this, you need a rom matching your CID. It's not possible to CID unlock it from bootloader.

Did it. Same result : Bootloader shows up after "task 8"
bootloader says :
athe100
ipl-v1.00
Athe100
SPL-v1.07.0000
red (raster)
green (raster)
blue (raster)
"Serial" when not USB connected, "USB" when connected in white field.

Hi Hdubli,

Bonus pack ? do you mean the CD that followed my x7500 ? I can check but don't think there are any ROM Flash application on that.
Sorry if I didn't understand your message correct

If u buy bonus pack with athena which includes car kit etc etc, u also get CDs, in which the ROM is also there..so I was asking if u can get hold of the dealer from whom u hv got and enquire about it..also in mtty issue info 2 command check what is yr CID

Ok, understand. We don't have anything called Bonuspack here with hardware stuff and ROM software.
This was the output from the mtty command :

Anything special with this ?

That would corrupt the signatures, and it won't flash with an unmodified bootloader.

Thanks EricBr or anyone who can help me,
I have a similar problem, but in my case I didn't do anything to deserve it... I just turned off my new and provider unlocked x7500 after playing with it all day (just installed skype for mobile and customized some settings, tried the programs, etc.), and when I tried to turn it on again, it just froze in the bootloader screen... Nothing works, I tried soft and hard resets, don't know what else to do?
I've been reading al your posts everywhere and tried a few things without succes, when I conect my x7500 to my pc, it doesn't connect to activesync or anything. I guess I would do better if there would be someone who can create a reply that would clearly guide me on what to do and what files (with links) to download. I simply don't know what happened! since I didn't do anything especial to deserve this from my x7500 which I was falling in love with, after only a few hours of just getting to know it.
I'm new to xda's so please lay it down easy on me... Already had removed the sim and the miniSD I had installed on it... still nothing happens.

What are you pressing to get into BootLoader? Have you confirmed you're pressing the right buttons by searching the forum?
If you can get into BootLoader you want to try to reflash. If the ROM you're flashing with came with the device or is meant for the x7501 then it should work. If it's not meant for the x7501, get the ROM that came with the unit. I'm saying this because I've noticed some people say "shipped" ROM and they are trying to tell us that it's an official HTC ROM and not one that came or is meant for their device. Just wanted to explain.

It appears as if you have tried to flash an X7501 with an X7500 ROM. The device is SIM unlocked but not CID unlocked (unless you did that with Olipro's unlocker) so this may be the cause of your trouble. Check the wiki and HTC's web site for information about failed ROM upgrades. Good luck and I hope your device is not bricked.

Hi,
I bought my HTC advantage x7501 in the US and am not sure if it is CID locked. How do I get to do this? Also, does this mean that the x7501 users (like me) cannot make use of the PK ROM?
You device is almost certainly Country ID (CID) locked, there is currently no unlocker for the X7501 only the X7500 !! so no you can not run the PK rom,
unless PK somehow manages to sign or region lock his rom to the USA I suppose, but I don't think he has any intention of doing that.
...........................
Olipro should be borrowing my X7501 soon so hopefully we will get to use the PK ROM sometime thereafter...

yes sir it is on auto ...but i dont have any 3g or wcdma in my country ..only gsm
Hrrrm... that seems kinda of strange... It may be that there is a fault in your unit - as if your GSM network uses any of the GSM bands listed on the phone, it should pick something up.
Has it worked before? Is there some kind of IMEI lock on your account?

If your phone works fine with a sim card of a different network, then it is probably a network related issue and you might have to contact your phone company to fix it.

You might want to take a look at this thread:

It's possible that your radio ROM 1.54 has damaged the radio hardware in which case changing ROM is unlikely to make any difference.

Have you followed others advice here and tried flavours from 1.38 upwards (although at the moment I wouldn't recommend trying 1.54!)...
a) Try cleaning the SIM contacts in your phone with a little alcohol and some cotton wool buds (poor contact with the sim card can cause your phone to think it has "no signal" or "No SIM" - suffered that one myself once)
b) Try your friends SIM in your phone and see if it works (as you've already said your SIM works in his phone) - if his sim works in your phone - but yours continues not to work then you may have a blocked phone or SIM and will need to speak to your provider for advice (and to either have the sim unlocked or the phone unlocked etc)
c) Try a hard reset with no sim inserted (after backing up your data) and try the SIM again.
d) Radio updates rarely (if ever) fix SIM issues - Certainly a dodgy rollback to 1.16 is unlikely to fix anything.
ok trying 1.38.00.10. but it doesnt have option for 2.10 olipro..what should i select ?it says u should chose sspl?
The contact of the simcard with phone is perfect,as i can access my sim contacts as well as sim messages and the sim menu is there as well.
NO His sim doesn't work on my phone.
The only option is to degrade to 1.16 and see if that helps. So how should i continue with my quest?
[FULLY SOLVED]HELP!!!I cannot log on to OS after flash Titan HARDSPL 2.40
I followed Titan FAQ and used HARDSPL MFG to unlock my Titan. It seems that the phone has been unlocked because there is the data on Tri-color Screen after the complete flashing.
TITA100 MFG
SPL 2.40. Olipro
CPLD-9
However, the Titan won't restart itself and I cannot reset it by myself either! It just freezes on the Tri-color screen and shows the above data. (even after a soft reset/hard reset, it goes to the Tri-color screen)
I am toally frustrated on it. Anyone please please please help me on this issue? This is totally different from the kaiser flashing.
I greatly appreciate any help!!!

At this point you can Flash the radio via the SD card method, OR use the official Sprint Release to get the 3.39 radio on your phone.

no not necessarily, while its true your stuck on the tri-color screen, this is only a minor problem caused by unlocking, there's a topic somewhere that explains why it does this, and a fix. But before you try "fixing" it, you can now flash your phone to some custom ROMs, like DCD. Update its Radio and ROM, And try soft resetting it again. If its still stuck... ill see if i can find the page..
right so I'm back and found what you were looking for, what your experiencing is being stuck at the Bootloader, Ive had this problem before when unlocking my phone as well.
Here's the Wiki.

No, the phone is unlocked, however it will not function because you have the wrong radio and rom on it.
Like I said, you have 2 options.
1) Download the latest Official Sprint Release or
2) Upgrade your radio using the SD method.... <-- preferred
Can you take your microSD card and format it FAT32, 1k cluster....?
Still don't understand...
Without being able to load into the Pocket PC's OS. How could you flash a new radio and a new OS?
P: My device is stuck at the Red, Blue and Green Screen?
S: To exit the bootloader, press the reset. You may need to reflash the Radio/Operating system ROM
Is the one you just mentioned? I have not flash any rom or any radio yet. The titan just freezes there before I take the next step.

Ok, seems to work on WinXP @ VBox, but now I got stuck at two first lines
=== Niki SuperCID and Security Unlocker (c)2008) by jockyw2001
=== Donations happily accepted, paypal to [email protected]
but the tool won't continue doing his job..
I have the same problem: I have followed all the steps (Security Unlock, ROM isntallations, RADIO installations) but still no service (and with a Nokia I have full signal).
Ok, the problem was that I had installed HardSPL 1.22 instead of 1.15.
I flashed an official ROM, flashed HardSPL 1.15, flashed the suggested radio (1.58.21.23).
After that I ran the SuperCID, on my VirtualBox Windows XP based, disabled usb connection in ActiveSync, then it worked in a second. Nice! At the boot now I get "Security Unlocked".
Now I flashed the radio "RUU Nike Radio 1.58.21.23S Modded"
Going to insert my sim and check out
Ok, the Connection Setup installed the vodafone IT config, trying to reboot now..
Always the same.No Service.
If I try to press "Find Network", it takes very very long, after that I get "No Service"..
if I choose Network Selection "Manual", it can't retrieve the list of networks, says:
Cannot read settings from the network. Try viewing settings later, or disconnect data connection and try again.
Same if I try "Set Networks".
What can I do?
Tried another Radio,
1.58.21.23S Modded
1.64.08.21K
1.71.09.01K
Are not working for me.
I'm afraid it's a hardware failure, the only thing you can try, is to flash an original htc rom which can be found HERE and keep us informed.
@ ady_uaic , the same answer to you, but in your signature you own a hd2, if you only have a hd2 you have to go to this LINK.
Succes guys or gals.
Greetz,
Thx @Rataplan, indeed I have HD2. This is my wife's phone (she replaced her BB with this one). I tried also an original ROM, but doesn't work. The thing is that in my house I don't have signal, but outside is ok; so this means that the antenna is a little bit weaker than others.
