Any luck upgrading radio only after TyTN 1.35 ROM update? - 8525, TyTN, MDA Vario II, JasJam Software Upgradin

Ok, so I've applied the SA TyTN 1.35 ROM with 1.18 radio and BL 1.09. I'm finding terrible battery life, and would like to return to the 1.20 radio.
I've downgraded to BL 1.04, and now I'm trying to apply a radio-only update.
Unfortunately, no matter which one I try, I end up with ERROR 114, and I'm still on radio 1.18.
Any ideas?

I get the same, but I tried while on BL 1.09 (even though I've got superCID now...)
I'm finding radio 1.18 alright though to be honest? What's your battery life like?

I'm in a strong UMTS area, and I have to say the 1.18 radio is by far the worst battery performance I have seen on my device to date. The 1.20 radio was by far the best... hope to get back there soon!
Update: I've returned to the 1.18 TyTN ROM, applied the SuperCID unlocker successfully (which apparently did not stick the last time I tried), and I'm now reapplying 1.35 update. Next steps will be to try 1.20 radio update directly, and then again after a bootloader downgrade...
Hoping for the best!

I have successfully done what you are looking to do. If you review the post that says downgrading any 1.06 bootloader to 1.04 and follow the instructions you will be able to downgrade just your bootloader and thus be able to upgrade radio only.

Success!!!
It wasn't easy, and it sure took a lot of cycles, but here's how I got my TyTN to the 1.20 radio rom and the SA TyTN 1.35 system rom:
- ran the bootloader downgrade utility and got back to BL 1.04
- ran the stock TyTN 1.18 ROM update
- ran pof's SIM unlocker to restore SuperCID status
- ran the TyTN 1.35 ROM update
- ran the bootloader downgrade utility and got back to BL 1.04
- ran the 1.20 radio-only update
And I'm back in business!
Now, let's see if I see the hoped-for improvements in the battery...

I had HORRIBLE battery life with the 1.20 radio rom, so I'm hoping the 1.35 will offer better battery life.

Maybe it's a function of where you live / how strong your UMTS signal is, because 1.20 has been the hands-down best for me...
And after an initial 18 hours, it appears that being back on 1.20 radio with 1.35 ROM has solved my battery problem again

I'm actually having issues.
I have a Cingular 8525
I started with the :
1.34.502.1 09/21/06 ?? 1.16.00.00 32.53.7018.01H 14955.2.3.0 2.3 1.06
I down graded to:
1.30.502.1 08/21/06 ?? 1.11.00.00 32.47.7018.00H 14955.2.3.0 2.3 1.04
Unlocked, Made SuperCID, Verified it with mtty.
Then I upgraded to the:
1.35.255.2 11/14/06 1.35.255.102 1.18.00.10 32.55.7018.01H 14955.2.3.0 2.3 1.09
I want to do the same, upgrade my radio to 1.20.31.10
but the radio only rom won't run. Any ideas?

@BryanPDavis: You need bootloader 1.04 to flash a radio rom, HTC 1.35 rom has bootloader 1.09, so you need to downgrade your bootloader.

huh, I guess I was doing something wrong, after many attempts, it finally downgraded my bootloader. Thanks.
EDIT: Forgot to mention I tried doing exactly that over and over again with no luck. Working now tho, thanks.

I can think of 2 ways to do this.
The first way requires that you have already made your Hermes SuperCID. Essentially, you flash the 1.01MFG bootloader then use that to flash the 1.04 Bootloader. Once complete, you'll be able to upgrade your radio. See the 1.01MFG bootloader thread for files/howto. I believe its all in the Wiki too.
If you are not SuperCID, then you must find the bootleg 1.04 bootloader flash solution to upgrade your radio.

By all means, take the time to SuperCID your device using pof's solution once you're on BL1.04 sam2000
i try many time to flash the 1.04 Bootloader by flash the 1.01MFG bootloader
and evry time error
can you tell me mr Sleuth255 how can downgrade from 1.09 to 1.04 stps by steps
thanks for you
If you are not SuperCID then you cannot succeed until you obtain the bootleg 1.04 downgrade solution. We do not host that here as it contains proprietary IMEI_check code.
However, from you first post it appears that you may be SuperCID since you are running the SA 1.35 TyTN ROM on a JasJam device. If that is the case, you can simply flash the RUU radio upgrade RUU_Hermes_TMD-TMA_Radiopatch_1.27.00.00_107_GER.exe.
edit:
to your question: the key to flashing the 1.04BL from the 1.01MFG bootloader is the version of mtty you are using. If you are trying to follow the instructions using a version of mtty that has the default "MFC" icon, then it won't work. You must use the version of mtty included in the 1.01mfg bootloader download.
my device SuperCID
Best option is to upgrade radio using RUU_Hermes_TMD-TMA_Radiopatch_1.27.00.00_107_GER.exe then.

Dead Link!
The bootleg 1.04 bootloader solution is actively pursued by IMEI-check. It never surfaces for very long....
However, sam2000 doesn't need this since he is already SuperCID. The 1.01MFG bootloader solution can get him to 1.04BL.
Hi...
I've this problem where my friend's Dopod 838 Pro has its flashed crash at 14% and now its Bootloader is 1.09. Its giving the NO GSM error but I cannot seem to downgrade the bootloader because its CID is also corrupted. It doesn't even accept the generic Dopod ROM upgrade!
Anyone one help?

2.06 3G Issue...

I have done the upgrade and everything went fine. After the upgrade it ran to extended rom configs and they went fine. My phone is no longer showing that it is connecting to 3G. All I have is the E logo on top. I am in my office and it is a 3g area, I was connecting 3G before the upgrade.
I have reinstalled the PTT .cab, and Hard Reset after it etc... Still the same.
I was going to upgrade my radio from 1.33 to 1.34 this morning, but when I ran that installer it told me that it was the wrong country??? Should I keep my radio 1.33? anyone know whats going on with this?
Thanks.

Maybe try putting SPL 1.09 on it then running the RUU Shipped Radio ROM 1.27 from Germany.
OK< I tried what you said. My phone is SPL 1.09. So I ran the 1.27 RUU. I got the same kind of error.

Before loading another radio on it. just make sure it's the icon that is just not showing the correct connection, as some radios do... Check mspeed from your phone's browser for your actual connection speed... http://www.dslreports.com/mspeed

Good point. MT_PC_Hermes_PTT_REG_070129.CAB fixes the icon settings in the new Cing ROM.
Just ran a speed test... 207kbit/sec...
You might also just go to the \extended_rom via totalcommander or other filemanager and execute autorun.exe or at least the cab that corrects the 3g/u/e icons MT_PC_Hermes_PTT_REG_070129.CAB
A lot of people have found that for some reason after upgrading via mfg package to the 2.06 cingular rom, that the entire entended_rom did not run; even if they did not stop it after the upgrade. It looked like it loaded to most people, but they did not have the useless icons like telenav, mobiTV, etc..
OK, so something strange happened... I went to run POF's unlocker again. I ran it, but all of a sudden a ROM image begins to load? It looked like it was reloading the cingular image I loaded yesterday. Just than I get called into a meeting, when I get back, my phone is sitting there, looking the same as I left it before doing anything EXCEPT I have a G Icon now. Great, so I just checked the settings...

What is you Radio BL 107 or 108?
I had access to two separate 8525's. One had 1.34 and the other had 1.27 (BL0107). The 8525 I keep and use daily is on 1.27 with BL 0107. I am waiting for further NBH flashing directions before changing both devices to BL 0108.
When it goes into Botloader mode, it sais SPL 1.09, Where else do I find the bootloader version?

To access the radio bootloader for that, but the command to do this (rtask a) has been removed in SPL-1.09.
If you downgrade the SPL to 1.04, you can see it using radio bootloader command "rversion":
Code:
USB>rtask a
Enter Radio Bootloader
rversion

Gromet, this is normal behavour. Pofs unlocker flashes a hacked radio rom (1.16.00.00). Once device restarts, you need to copy the unlocker exe file (included in pof's unlocker zip) to your device, and then execute it on the device. I guess the exe that you run on the device interacts with the hacked radio to unlock the device somehow.
Once thats done, you'll get a 'success' message. Now you can download the shipped rom 1.27.00.00. Since your device is now superCID you can just exec the exe in the shipped rom directly to upgrade the radio from 1.16 to 1.27
Just make sure that you kill activesync before playing about with any rom flashing - it gets in the way.
Nigel
So yeah....
I did everything for PoF's Unlocker, and I GOT the SUCCESS message... but now I cant get any version of a radio upgrade to run. If activesync is on, It starts the upgrade and never gets past 0%, if activesync is off, i error out even before it ever starts the upgrade.

I don't have much to add other than, 'me too'--but eventually the upgrade worked. I Ran POF's unlocker and chose supercid as well. But couldn't get past that 0% with the 1.27.00.00 radio upgrade.
I'm at:
IPL - 1.00
SPL - 1.04
While typing up this message I decided to try again and type up the error verbosely.
Sure enough the sixth try was the charm.

Radio BL vs. Radio Version

I've been reading alot around here about upgrading roms. But I am still confused between these two things. Mine has the radio version of 1.16. But I have no idea what radio BL version it is.
I am afraid to upgrade without understanding this. Because from what I've read, I do not want radio BL of 1.08.
Could someone please explain this?
Hi
You'll find this info in the wiki:
http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=Hermes_ExtractedRadioRoms
HTC Boot is the radio bootloader so you have 0107. Radios with 0108 are the ones to watch out for since flashing this means that you will no longer be able to flash radio (or other) updates on their own afterwards. HTC Boot is flashed when you flash a new radio rom. Additionally, to have any radio rom flashed successfully once you have HTCBoot 0108, your SPL (system bootloader) needs to be 1.09 otherwise the radio does not get flashed.
The latest HTCBoot0107 radio is 1.27

Isn't it possible though to do NBH/ROMupgradeUT radio only updates using SSPL with Radio BL 0107 or 0108?
Edit: I made Radio Only NBH/ROMupgradeUT 1.33.31.00 RBL 108. Using SSPL on device works fine to upgrade my radio. NBH Radio Upgrade Only 1.33.31.00 Run SSPL FIRST
I had radio bl 0108 before trying this so it works this way. There is no way to downgrade radio bl, but it really doesn't matter sine this method works to upgrade or downgrade radio rom.

Radio upgrading problems...

I read and read for a couple of days before taking the plunge in to upgrading anything. I ran the 2.06 rom and noticed that the radio stayed 1.16 so I ran the 1.34 rom from htc and the radio stayed the same so I again ran the 2.06 and the radio is still the same. I followed all instrutions and changed the bootloader to 1.01 MFG then to 1.04 and tried running different radio upgrades but none of them change the radio from 1.16. Is there anything I missed, am I screwed and not able to change the radio? Is the 1.16 radio good with the 2.06 rom?
These pages are awesome thanks to all the hard work from everyone for newbies like me.
Also on a side note where can I find info like these pages for the mpx220?

@brandyholt: welcome to XDA developers! Here's a hint for you:
Set your signature to show the device you own along with the ROM, radio rom and SPL. You can get the first two from settings->system->device info. You can get the SPL version by soft resetting into the bootloader.

Downgrade to Radio: 1.06.00.00

Hello,
I have a SPV M3100 and I upgraded to WM6. I flashed the spl and radio and followed the upgrade guide...
I want to put back my old spl and radio so I can send it back to Orange.
Before I had:
SPL: 1.04
Radio: 1.06.00.00
OS: Orange UK ROM
Now I have:
SPL: 1.40olipro
Radio: 1.38
OS: Orange UK ROM
The Orange UK ROM I used was the Reconstructed one here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/show...=278060&page=3
Stupidly, to put back everything I flashed spl 1.10.oli then flashed the full ROM but kept getting noGSM and then getting stuck in boot.
To get it working I had to upgrade to spl 1.40olipro again and flash radio 1.38...
I then extracted the radio from the ROM (as its the one I need) and tried flashing it with that but still had same noGSM error.
How can I get 1.06.00.00??? on the WIKI 1.06 is unavailable (which is why I extracted it from the ROM)
In the 'Standard Method' here: http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=Hermes_ExtractedRadioRoms
it says... "Your device MUST be running bootloader version 1.04 to upgrade the radio with these:"
Can anyone advice me on this??? I do need SPL1.04 anyway as thats what orange shipped with my phone...
I dont know where to get SPL1.04 and is it correct that radio 1.06 can only be flashed on SPL1.04 and thats why im getting noGSM when I do it???
Thanks Everyone, these forums are great, after thinking I bricked my phone yesturday (flashing the full UK Orange ROM) and getting noGSM it is now fixed
P.S.
If I trust the stuff in the Full Orange ROM I used.... I extracted the SPL too which says its 1.04.
I want to try flashing SPL 1.04 first then the radio, but been advised not to? Everyone says flash SPL last! But I dont see how if it says: "Your device MUST be running bootloader version 1.04 to upgrade the radio with these:"
The problem you are having is that radio 1.38.x.x will have flashed the updated Radio bootloader to HTC_BOOT 108.
Reflashing 1.06.0.0 will not downgrade the bootloader to the required 107, and afaik there currently is no way to downgrade the radio BL.
You should still be able to use the Orange ROM with the updated radio, and if you have to do a orange warranty call, it's unlikely they will complain.
@dlfranks: Read here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=286755&?p=1217676&postcount=1007
@oliber: he's wanting to go to a radio with htc_boot 0106, probably that's not possible when you've already flashed 0108. I never tried this, but it seems that two users are having the same issue, so probably once you have 0108 you can only downgrade to radios with 0107 (but keeping 0108 on your phone, that is).
thanks
thanks guys, that makes sense. I think ill try the other radio. basicly i have only had it a few days and want to try a difo phone, there happy to swap it in the first 7 days... i just dont want them complaining i messed around with it...
want to make it look as much untampered with as poss!!
at least i got the orange rom on there, it looks good.
if i get the radio to the lowest one i can, how do i go about getting spl1.04 back on my phone. i have read the hard spl threads but cant work it out. i have 1.40olipro. do i downgrade to 1.10.oli then to 1.04? or to 1.06 then 1.04. what order?
I extracted the spl1.04 rom the orange rom i used...
thanks for your help again
