I have an 02 atom and it is having problems with sound.... It makes no sound at all when I select and click on things or make a call. It rings if i call it but i can here anything on the other end. I have worked out that if I turn on the radio function it then makes sounds when I click on things and tap the screen but as soon as i turn the radio off it makes no sound. With the radio on I still cant hear anything in calls as it turns the radio off when I dial. Any ideas?? Warranty isnt an option as i purchased it 2nd hand over ebay. If i need to reload roms can you p-lease give me a link as im completely new to this PDA phone business...

u can try also, at the repairing center the Guy put the hands free into the jack for 3-4 times .
the reson of this is the handset gets sort in the inner so by this may be the handsfree get up.
Try it. but its not guaranteed.

Hi Folks~
I have an XDA (QTEK 1010) had been working perfectly fine, until yesterday. After taking a call, when I tried to make a call I noticed the Speaker Phone activated automatically. I can't hear anything even the tried to play an MP3 from the Media Player but still didn't work.
Then I plugged in the Hands-Free, could listen to the Sound but the Mic seems to be have been disabled. (Even after plug-in of the Hands-Free, the Speakerphone still remains activated).

You could back up your data and try a hard reset, a bit drastic I know but its pretty useless as a phone at the moment.
Apologies for the Information in Bit & Pieces (am a newbie).
I've already checked after Soft & Hard Reset to the Device, the problem is still there.

This is exactly what happened to me back in November, after my little Xavier (an XDA) went for a swim in a flooded gutter.
I'll bet that if you go into the Wallaby BootLoader and try the diagnostics, it'll behave itself.
Unfortunately, the news was not good for me: $1500 to have it repaired.
"Liquid Ingression", they call it. *grumble*
I decided against it. My XDA still works as a soundless PDA (or, as it turns out, a hopelessly overpriced Universal Remote Control).

Should I upgrade it to PPC2003 from the YOrk Kitchen ?? Will it help resolving the problem ?
I was thinking if it could be bcz of a loose connection inside the device (altough the device never fell down since I've got it).

There's a good chance that it needs vendor support.
Take it back to the place you bought it... if you didn't drop it or get it wet, the warranty should cover it.

Just tried Updating the Stack, didn't Work either .. Pretty Strange what else could happen.
If I attach a Hands-Free I get to hear the Sounds, but no Sounds on the Speaker .. person calling me can't hear me nor can I hear them. The Situtation is same I try to make a Call "Speaker Phone On" Pops-UP.
Though I tried to records the Recording, When I speak while the recoding on the playback just gives a huffing sound, no clear Audio.

From the limited information provided to me by the repair centre, and looking over the details on xda-developers.com, I think your audio chip (or something related to it) may have fried. Mine was caused by water damage... a lot of water damage, at that...
Without the Sound, there's no charm in using it anyways ... bought a new Nokia 6600 a few days back and am using it ... now waiting for the Battery to be drained & when re-charged expecting a miracle to happen

Guess What .. the XDA is working perfectly fine now.

Although in bootloader diagnostics the mic/speaker work fine. When booted in to windows I get the speaker phone coming on automatically, and no sound

This problem drives me crazy constantly. The only explanation I found (by empirical approach) as follows:
My XDA works fine always except at winter, when I stay outside, and the XDA surface covered with steam condensate because of temperature differences. Condensate may not be seen visually, but some electronics inside has short circuit or changes in chains resistance which cause XDA to think that ‘speakerphone mode’ is on and misbehave.
To resolve this problem I just keep XDA in the worm place (like stay in apartment) for 30 min and / or plug it to charger which bring XDA to normal mode (by warming it up and thus removing steam condensate). No other ways found so far.

Then just now, I thought.. hm.. I'll just blow as hard as I can in the little hole... I did this for a good five minutes.. and it now works

I´m in Hong Kong and just got my Dopod U1000, since my last PDA was the Hermes and Universal (both with WM6), I would like to know if there is any leaked rom available ? If not I will ask to my friends at HTC and MS
Another point is, The only way to make calls is using a headset? Seriously this was unexpected to me... I will receive a bluetooth headset from Plantronics for free (local promo), but just in case, There is any other way to use the phone? (without the speakerphone)?

Yes this also puzzled me. How is it possible that the speakerphone cannot be de-activated? Sometimes when I forget to bring my bt headset the phone rings, I answer the call and everyone of my collegues listen to my phone conversation, due to speakerphone active!

I think that the Ameo hasn't got the hardware to be used as a "normal" phone (e.g the small ear-speakers used by a "normal" phone).
That's quite shocking. I never knew the Athena could not be answered as a normal mobile phone.

if you don't know this, then you haven't done enough research
to be fair i have not seen any video or other reviews where they go over the fact that you can talk on it like a normal phone. back to the question at hand, what i do is turn down the volume all the way and then talk on it like a normal phone people can still here just not as will and not as far away but i still use a bluetooth
FYI - the volume settings are different when your on or off the phone so if you turn down the volume when your on the phone talking, it will still be loud when you get off the phone.
u can make/answer the call without earphone.
the internal speaker will be on in this case. it means people around u also can hear your call.
i had once, it's a quite embarrassing when people are watching u while u r talking to a brick. :-D

i have trouble with my atom. when i made a call, the person whose i talked with can't hear my voice. using menu self diagnostics, recording test passed, but audio loop-back test failed.

O2 service center in indonesia really s**ck, they recejt my warranty cause i dont have invoice from the store where i buy the atom.
you could try hardreset or reflash of rom its not the end of the world, if that doesnt work then consider replacing the mic.

I've that problem before on my Atom.. i did Hard Reset and it won't fix the problem..
Finally, after my unit sent to the repair department.. it appears to be the "microphone" piece broken and need to be replaced.
Quanta gave O2 for Atom devices not a durable hardware..
for example: Both small stereo Speakers.. easily broken when u up the volume to the full. (u must set the balance to the "R" side & kill the Bass on the Equalizer in order to fix the problems).
The microphone also.. sometimes its not sensitive, regardless your operator quality & signal. and easily broken... i have bunch of my colleague using Atom got broken stereo speakers and mics.
Then i sold my Atom and get Atom Exec... bit better devices, New motherboard & the LCD screen is different from regular Atom. other than that not much different.

i used my prophet about 2 years and so far i didn't got any trouble expect small fix. now my prophet flash and rom upgrade works almost everything well but i am having issue of conversation. if somebody call me i can have rings but i can't heared anjything and also who ever i try to call there is no sound at all. even WM player plays but no sound. no notification sound nothing.
i try useing earphone and it gives me very much low sound but if i call or recive then same problem.
does anybody have clue what going on with my prophet?
please i really need urs suggestion .

may be tweak of sound if u know so, as far as i guess i used the photo contact pro 5.09 and set the setting up to loud and may be this things made to happen this problem

what happen this morning is that i change the battery and it work for a while and after i connect to the pc then it back to the same trouble and now i am downloading ur 1d-storm and i will try this one too if any change happen i will let u know.

I got this problem sometime, but after I did hard reset it will be ok. I've encounter this problem many cook rooms. but for original shiped room is ok
even when i am trying to speaker on it didn't work. i already flash the original rom but i hae same problem. i can use my prophet only by ear phone. expect that i can't use coz' there is no sound.

I have a problem with my tg01. The problem is that when I ring someone the person on the other side can hear me but I cant hear them. So I was woundering if anyone else has the same problem and if there is a fix to it. Also if there is no fix then how do I get it repaired as the phone is more then 6 months old and orange wont fix it.

Do you have SRS wow installed? is so soft reset after each install of the 3 cabs. Can you hear people if they ring you? Have you tried turning up the volume when you make calls, I think i had a handset that had no sound when set on vibrate/silent. When the volume was increased the sound came back.
are using an cooked rom ?
