Just want to summerize the situation for existing 1.09 owner of X01HT, the current state of the unlocking process is follows:
1) Unlock 1.09 can ONLY be done by imei-check (GBP $20)
2) After unlocked, your device will be SUPER-CID
3) Then it can be flashed BL MFG 1.01 in order to upgrade BL to 1.09 for
upgrading the radio rom (currently only radio ver. 1.27 can be flashed)
OR if you dun need the phone function, just want to use PDA instead BUT want to use your desire language rom (Chinese, French etc.....)
1) You need this software "DownGrade_SPL.rar" to downgrade your BL to
1.04 in order for you to be able to flash other language OS.
2) "DownGrade_SPL.rar" can be found on the search engine like google or
china search engine like baidu.com.......
Hope this help
Thank you mj13,this helps.I wonder if there is a future plan for free unlocker.
It's a bit better than this.
With SuperCID & 1.01MFG BL you can easily go to 1.04 BL. Instructions on this are in the Wiki and the 1.04BL itself is included in the 1.01MFG bl download.
The bootleg 1.04bl downgrade solution is no longer required!
or... If you're more technically inclined you can flash using 1.01MFG bootloader...
you can extract os.nb from the rom of your choice using pof's nbhextract tool then just flash it directly using the "lnb" command in the 1.01MFG bootloader. Instead of 30 minutes, this will take < 5 minutes.
While you're at it, change your splash screens too
May I ask one thing? If I already in 1.04. Could I use the unlock from IMEI directly?? Furthermore, I can' input chinese. Are your PPC OK?
Is after # 2 enough to unlock the X01HT Post December release?

#2 is unlocking the phone, but if you need to upgrade the radio version, it is better to do the #3 process as MFG 1.01 let you just upgrade the BL itself instead of FULL ROM upgrade. Of course, if you are satisfy with your current radio version, #2 will be just fine.

correct. it requires to be able to flash the radio stack in order to unlock it, but the radio stack of that new rom seems to be read only and flashing another radio stack is not possible at this time.

It's possible.
Hello I'm french, first sorry for my bad english.
I just bought a V1605 from england that I have immediatly unlocked.
I have tested French qtek ROM 1.18.256... but it's very slow and there are many bugs, after that I have tested a WWE qtek ROM 1.18.416... with bootloader 1.06 just for see if TCPMP was better and it is!
But I wanted the last Qtek ROM, so I have put the original ROM of my vodafone in order to downgrade bootloader to 1.04, it's very simple!
Then I've installed the latest QTEK ROM 1.35 with bootloader 1.09, and now after few very fast manipulations , I have bootloader 1.04 and radio 1.20.
So I can test every ROMs I think...
For the moment, I can see that this ROM (1.35) is very fast, and TCPMP works better but for the video it is the same than vodafone 1.20 or tytn 1.18.416 .

After downgrading to 1.04 and doing all the upgrades, is there any reason to reupgrade 1.04 to a more current boot rom?

have you tried installing SB_USIM.cab? dunno if that makes any difference, but the "input security code" does come up with the softbank phones, and the SB_USIM.cab just cancels this screen from coming up.. and you should be able to use simcards from other carriers..
I havent upgraded to bootloader 1.09 yet.. probably will wait until some things are cleared up first..

Hi, new to the forums....
I also bought one today. They were going to put it in my hands, then said they have to wait for up to 2 weeks to allow for an update to be made. I wish I had already been reading these forums because I could have tried to tell them that I would do the update myself.
I think you just have to find a shop worker that takes pity on you and is not too much of a yes(wo)man to anonymous instructions that come from up the line.
I bought mine in Jiyugaoka - they claimed they had none - then when upstairs to get me one after I said I was amazed that they were out of stock at the very beginning of a weekend.

Hi guys,
sorry if this seems a silly question, but I really looked to see if I could find any info on this...but I might be just bad at searching?
Anyway, with the apologies behind us, here goes:
Is there any way to know (either from the version number or by any of you telling me) which AKU version the ROMS posted here have?
I currently have AKU 2.3 (in my 1.18.255.3 ROM, date 05/30/06, radio 1.03.03.10, 1.04 bootloader QTEK_001 CID) and am considering upgrading.
Do any of these roms contain a newer AKU version? If so, which?
As long as I have your attention anyway: I've been reading a lot on upgrading on this (GREAT) forum, but it's slightly confusing: Am I correct in assuming that if I SUPER-CID my Hermes and flash it with a newer ROM with bootloader 1.09, that I can always go back to bootloader 1.04? Or is it that once I load 1.09 then I'm stuck with it?

See here:
http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=Hermes_Upgrades
The column named "OS Build":
- if it ends in 2.3.0 means it's an AKU 2.3
- if it ends in 2.6.0 means it's an AKU 2.6 (currently only cingular's 1.31 rom)

By now, If you flash 1.09 you're stuck with it unless you use some "illegal" files that where removed from this forum some time ago. I am working on a new solution to downgrade, but is not ready yet...
Has anyone compared the 1.31 (aku2.6) and 1.35(aku2.3) roms yet? Any differences in speed or handling?
Hey thanks pof!
Ok in hindsight it seems logical to look at the build date for the AKU but I really overlooked that...DOH!
So I guess the best thing for the moment would be to wait for either a AKU 3.2 ROM or a way to revert bootloader 1.09 to 1.04.
As far as I understand it now: If I flash this Cingular AKU 2.6 ROM now I will get bootloader 1.09 and therefore I won't be able to upgrade to a AKU 3.2 ROM unless it happens to be a AKU 3.2 ROM with the same CID (from Cingular in this case, because that's the only AKU 2.6 ROM)
Check?
Not necessarily, you could CID-unlock your phone first.
so you mean that if I CID unlock my phone first, then flash it to a new ROM with bootloader 1.09, that it would still be possible to flash it back to some ROM with bootloader 1.04?
That is possible, but not directly. After upgrading to a rom with 1.09, you have to downgrade the bootloader to 1.04 via this method. After that you can flash any rom you want, or upgrade your radio-rom only, as i did.

Wait, I thought even the imei-check method did NOT work on Bootloader 1.09. The Cingular ROM 1.34 is Bootloader 1.06 - so it should work there, but I thought NOT on Bootloader 1.09.

Since last upgrade change my bootloader to 1.09 and my original was 1.04, to roll-back i just have to run rom package or i have to do something before the downgrade?

Can you tell the inital and upgraded ROM / Bootloader versions ?
Hi,
I had this package:
ROM - 1.18.255.3 07/22/06
ExtROM - 1.18.255.106
Radio - 1.03.03.10
Bootloader - 1.04
and i instaled last one available here.
Rom - 1.35.255.2 11/14/06
Bootloader - 1.09
(....)
Let me say that i bought my Tytn "free" unlock. I have no problem about this issue.
Is there any problem instaling original package? Bootlader turns again to 1.04 or remains 1.09?
Thanks in advance
i think you still can downgrade it to the original rom version as the CID is the same, but the bootloader should remain 1.09. here's a quote from the wiki.
Bootloader 1.09 DOES NOT allow DOWNGRADING of itself by means of flashing earlier ROMs. Once installed it is IMPOSSIBLE to DOWNGRADE SPL 1.09 to 1.06 or 1.04 by regular means!

doesn't making the device SuperCID fix this problem?
[edit] and by problem, I don't mean getting 1.04 back, I mean there's really no point since you can flash any ROM you wish anyway, and I'm seriously asking cause I'm not sure [/edit]

yes, if your device is supercid, you can flash the roms from different vendors. what is recommended for all is making the device supercid while you are still at the bootloader 1.04. if your device was made supercid while you had the original rom with the bootloader 1.04, you shouldn't have any problems with flashing whichever rom although the bottloader will remain 1.09 in your case.
You can flash any ROM that matches your CID. If you have SuperCID you can flash every ROM. The bootloader will remain 1.09 though.
A new bootloader version for HTC Hermes devices is available on XDA-Developers (thanks 300logic!). This is a very special bootloader version 1.01 MFG which allows to flash unsigned code, meaning that ROM cooking should now be possible on the Hermes
Warning to those who don't know what you're doing. Don't to be tempted to attempt this for now.
To flash BootLoader 1.01 MFG your DEVICE MUST BE SuperCID first: If you don't have a SuperCID device, this is not useful to you.
* It makes possible flashing custom splash screens
* It makes possible flashing separate ROM parts (only OS, only ExtROM, etc...)

Could we 'upgrade' this preproduction bootloader to version 1.10 for example?!?
Thanks Pof for the Wiki and thanks 300logic for provide the bootloader
Please, I some questions;
- is now possible to flash a dumped ROM? If yes, How?
- Is possible to get a backup copy of the actual splash screens before changing it?
Thank you.

You can go from 1.01MFG to 1.09 with 'lnb', and you would to any version too...

First you have to convert the dumped ROM to OS.nb format of the Hermes... something which will require quite some time until someone can figure out. See here if you are interested.

Take a shipped ROM from your vendor, and extract the splash screen with NBHextract.

Put hermes in KITL mode (comm manager + power + softreset) and connect to it with Platform Builder. I can't help you more, because I don't have PB.
Thank you very much, bootloader downgrade from 1.09 to 1.01 MFG now.
cool
you are very cool
pof (maybe we should call u prof.)
as u have mentioned, after flash to bootloader 1.01 can revert to SPL 1.04.
is it possible to re-flash SPL 1.06 which i've extracted from Dopod newer ROM?
[just need advise from an expert before my hermes die ]
Why would you want 1.06 over 1.04?
@hang.tuah: yes, it is possible... but I have the same question as ionide... why 1.06?? it does not offer any good over 1.04, just has downsides and annoyances
