Which is best? - 8525, TyTN, MDA Vario II, JasJam Software Upgradin

Which ROM is stable, faster and best?
WWE AKU3.3 Test ROM 2.05.255.1 radio 1.34.00.10_108
or
Cingular Rom 2.06.502.3
Yout Opinion, which to install?

I guess it is subjective.
For me, best means finding the right balance of stability and speed.
I tried both cingular and TEST roms and I have stuck with the test ROM. Reason: I dont see any difference in performance gain with the cingular ROM after installing my apps and today plugins. In addition, I havent had any issues as mentioned in regards to the cingular ROM. Thirdly, the TEST rom isnt bloated with operator-ware, so the TEST rom is compact and neat.
No crashes so far on TEST rom, the device is more responsive, I have no complaints, well maybe 1 complaint - no WPA2 yet (same as cingular ROM).

I have installed the 2.05 TEST ROM on a JasJam + Radio 1.27. I left the imate Extended ROM (which incidentally will not auto install when hard reset) for the time being and I will edit it later.
Phone froze when rebooting after installing MS VC 1.6 once, but having rebooted again I do not have any issue, I was unable to reproduce the issue.
It has been three days now and I am satisfied with the improved speed and functionality!!
Simple.

I'm using the cingular 2.06 and its running perfectly fine on my device. No issues, just the usual reg hacks and a couple tweaks to your needs and you'll be good to go. I haven't tried the 2.05 test rom because i'm on cingular and i kinda want the operator-ware that jasjamming mentioned. Although i have editted the ExtRom and gotten rid of 5 cabs which are useless to me (good email, express email, telenav, mobitv, and bbconnect.)

Download the latest ROM straight from HTC
Download the latest and the best ROM at http://www.america.htc.com/support/docs/RUU_STAR100_4.1.502.5_02.79.30_CWS_SHIP.exe
so this rom will run install on my cingular 3125 fine? it wont brick it will it? do i need to app unlock the phone?
No harm installing
This is the latest official cingular rom. It shouldn't brick your 3125 and you may not need to application unlock. Since you're getting a new 3125, this rom may be already installed in your device. Please check before you flash.
Since this is an official Cingular ROM, you won't have to app unlock to flash it. However, you should be aware that once you flash it, this ROM will leave your phone app locked (I know my 3125 was not app locked with the original ROM). So after you have flashed, if you want to install unsigned apps (freeware, etc), you can search this forum for a thread that has instructions to app unlock.
I'm very happy with this ROM on my 3125 - it has a very recent version of WM5 (AKU 3.4.2) and has been rock-solid for me. I wish they didn't put in the app lock, but it is easy enough to remove (some reg edits, etc)...
k thanks my 3125 should come in tomorrow... how good is the 3125 at playing video?
Playing XviD videos 320x240, cca 300 kbps, 25 fps in TCPMP is fine. Try it yourself Use PocketDivxEncoder for converting videos.
anyone get PocketDivxEncoder to work with vista it keeps messing up for me tried running it as administrator and it does same thing
I wouldn't recommend the latest Cingular Rom
made a mistake and updated my Cingular 3125 ROM with HTC's newest (since it was recommended..) and had nothing but hell afterwards.. in 2 days got a signal maybe 3 times and only once was I able to make a call at all.
I just added that rom to my 3125 hopefully I don't have the same problems. Im using tmobile so i'll let you know
stay away from the Cingular ROM it bogs down the system

Mogul Official Sprint ROM: lots of different issues - please advise

Hi all,
So I installed the Official Sprint ROM issued this month and I have the following problems:
- Battery won't last more than one day
- Phone won't wake up from standby at certain times
- Phone slow after running some applications, including built-in apps like Word, Excel, or IE. Sometimes this result in the phone just simply hanging
In either situation above, except battery issues, a soft-reset is required.
I have tried the following:
- Do a hard reset, try without ANY applications
- Remove HTC_CM_Guardian.exe and SDDAEMON.exe
Anyone have the above three problems? with the new Sprint Official ROM?
I feel like going back to the old Sprint ROM. I have a separate BT GPS, so I don't care about A-GPS functionality as long as my phone is stable.
Why don't you cook a clean rom with the 3.0.1 kitchen and get rid of the sprint rom?
One question - did you let the customizations run after you installed the ROM?
If not, you need to hard reset let the customizations run, hard reset again and then you can bypass the sprint customization.
Otherwise......
......now that you have the new radio installed, I'd recommend trying one of the clean ROM's from either No2Chem (over at PPCGeeks) or DCD's 3.0.1 ROM.
DCD's has a "Touch" look to the skins and has over 24MB of RAM free on first boot.
All you'd need to do is run the 2.40 Olipro SPL unlocker and then flash DCD's 3.0.1 ROM.
Much more stable than the OEM.

I did on the 1st try, but something gone wrong, most troublesome is that the "Text Message" account now shown in Pocket Outlook. So I hard reset again and let the customizations run.

So you're saying that it's better to use Sprint's official Radio but use DCD's ROM?
What I gather from this forum and PPCGeeks is that people either use Sprint's Official Radio and ROM or just forego that and use kitchen's ROM completely, but not a combination of both as mentioned above.
[EDITED]
OK, so I got Olipro and DCD 3.01 Kitchen. Just so I am doing the right thing since I have ALREADY installed Sprint Official Rom with Radio v. 3.35.05, please let me know if this step is correct:
1) Connect to ActiveSync. Sync as usual
2) Run Olipro v. 2.40. This will open a Command Prompt. Let it do it's thing.
3) Once done, load DC 3.01 Kitchen ROM. No other Radio ROM needed.
4). Done.
Am I correct?
There is no radio with the kitchen. The sprint official radio release (3.35.04) is the official radio whether you use the sprint official update rom or a custom rom of your choosing. No other radio works with the newer roms except this radio. That is why if you choose to use a custom rom, you STILL have to flash the sprint update to get the radio, then you flash your custom rom on top of it (with no radio) to get your own rom on there.

I've cleaned that ROM (gutted to the base OS and functions) and have experienced none of those issues and none of those complaints are voiced in the thread using that kitchen.
I do not think that your problems are due to that specific base of Sprint ROM. Possibly some of the apps or simply a bad flash? Did you attempt to remove HTC Guardian or other components from within the active OS or did you extract and build your own ROM from the Sprint?
For severe battery problems there a couple of threads where a few people have experience excessive drains, but that's with the more recent DCD builds.

I already have Radio 3.35.04 when I installed Sprint Official ROM upgrade. That's why I want to confirm that I need to run Opilo 2.40 unlocker and then upgrade to DCD ROM on top of the current Sprint Official ROM.

You are correct, you can flash any custom ROM on top of Sprint's. DCD's is a good choice.

That is correct.
DCD's ROM doesn't include the Radio, and the new radio version is what unlocks the GPS and EVDO REV A features. The SPL unlocker is what allows you to load ROM's that aren't OEM on your device, and If you aren't familiar with how to build your own ROM using DCD's kitchen (it's pretty easy once you get started), then he has carrier specific ROM's already linked on his most recent release page. The links are just above the images.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=376150
Yeah just unlock with olipro 2.4, then you have a choice between dcd (which I personally use) or another clean rom like no2chem's.
same issue as stated in first post
Hey just want to say great site guys! There is no other website that can comes close to the knowledge available here. But in response to the who started this thread the official sprint rom is crap! Once phone goes into standby or "LOCK" 99% of the time "Soft Reset" is required. Ive "Soft Reset" my mogul no B.S. 100 times since I've flashed there ROM. Radio is a great improvement but honestly, they need to hire or pay NOCHEM or DCD for their talents because w/out their ROMS the MOGUL would've ended up on the side of the highway. I agree with the last post. Use the official radio, but don't run yourself through the wringer with the SPRINT ROM. You will rip your hair out!
meek420, again, I've had zero issues of lock-ups using a cleaned out version of the Sprint ROM.
I do not think such problems are endemic to that ROM.

Sogarth's Base Vanilla Rom

I don't really feel like its that fast so i was going to just scrap the whole thing but then i was like well i'll let everyone else decide
First I just want to give a big thanks to Sogarth for this rom, without him this would not be possible so please thank him before you thank me I have made a vanilla of this rom with cab files for everything that was in the rom. **MOST CAB FILES FOUND HERE WILL NOT WORK WITH OTHER ROMS**
There is also a folder named extra that has some misc. stuff like ringtones…
What did I add?
Well I added .netcf 3.5, mortscript w/auto rotate toggle, disabled signed cert, and has about a 39 sec boot up time (not first boot)
For setting up on first boot: email accounts / connections settings / contacts with ringtones please see this link - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=403458
Starting with:
Storage - 141.19MB
Ram – 77.77MB

I'm going to test now!!!!!!
Thanks Irus and Sogarth for your works!
my next rom starts in 36 second from first splash screen...
it will be: ce os 5.2.20270 (build 5.2.20270.1.3.1)

Well, no, it wasn't that fast. And then I added a 32 MB pagepool, set my glyph cache to 128 KB (0x0020000), set my font cache, took out a few things I wasn't using, and it's amazing how much faster it works.
Yeah, the 32 MB pagepool is probably overkill; I ought to see if a 16 MB pagepool works just as well... but... it's 32 MB!
On the other hand, maybe I ought to see if a ramdisk for caching works better instead...

I think it might depend on what ramdisk you're using. The one I was thinking about is the temporary ramdisk that you need to reload on every boot - it would be nicer to have a permanent one, but a temporary one can be useful for some of the temp file caching, Internet Explorer or Opera browsing caching, etc.

I'm using spl 3.5 too.
Irus and Sogarth,
Thank both of you for this wonderful ROM. I've installed it while travelling on the road today, using my SD card, and it installed without any customization loop. Of couse, I'm on spl1.2.
Has anyone with spl1.2 got any customization loop so far? If yes, were you ever on spl3.5 ?
I downloaded the ROM directly into my device as usual without using a PC. I have 141.05 MB of storage memory and 81.43 MB of Program memory available after installation, which is slightly different from Irus' posted number. Wonder if it is because Irus has been on spl3.5 before, hence he has 3.49 MB less memory left than I have.
So far, I've only installed TomTOM7, which loaded very fast. In fact, seems faster than any other ROM. GPS fixed was also exceptionally fast.
Will continue to test and provide feedback. I can say that so far I like every bit of the concepts that goes into the making of this ROM.
Each time when I thought I already have the best ROM, Sogarth and Irus comes around and prove me wrong with even better ROM. Irus' idea of making everything a cab that we can install on our own is brilliant, and will make this ROM the most user customizable ROM ever. I'm thrilled to see things like subDisplay taken away, as I never use it ever. This should free up resources and speed up the device to the maximum extend possible. Of course, Sogarth is going to introduce RAM cache files to even better that soon, and wow, so many good stuffs are coming up from you two. Thank you both once again for this sensational master piece.

I flashed this rom under spl 3.5, and got endless roop of customization. But I was able to flash back to irus ultra lite under spl 3.5. After reading eaglesteve's finding that he succeeded in installation under spl 1.2, I used Cmonex downgrader to directly downgrade to spl 1.2 without going from AP4. After downgraded to spl 1.2, irus ultra lite rom kept loop of customization. I forcibly entered into the tri-color screen by pushing camera bottom and soft reset hole at the same time, and tried to install this Sogarth Base Vanilla Rom under spl 1.2. Now I ended up with the following statement:

Just for additional information. I am using spl 1.2 and I don't have the customization issues. I use to have spl 3.5 and downgraded a while back when cmonex provided the downgrader.

[Q] Poor WIFI & bluetooth performance

Apologies if the answer is somewhere, I have searched but can't find anything.
So, to the problem. I have been using a Miri from for a couple of months and decided to flash to the new Dutty N4S V1 rom. Prior to this I flashed the raise to 2.14.50.04 and then went about flashing the Rom.
Initially it seemed to work fine, then I noticed poor wifi performance, the phone used to be able to pick up the router but now nothing then I noticed an issue with the Bluetooth, it now has a range of only a few cm.
So I have since flashed backward on the available radios through this site to no avail. I have also flashed both the Miri and Dutty roms since again not increasing performance.
The only thing I can find in error is the HSPL I had originally was 1.42. I didn't think about upgrading it despite the rooms asking for a later version, although I have since flashed version 2.08 of the HSPL and flashed everything again to see if the problems are rectified but to no success.
So, software fault or hardware fault. Prior to this bit of flashing both the wifi and Bluetooth worked fine. The phone is in excellent condition and only 6 months old. I have emailed HTC but while waiting for their reply I thought would try here too.
Thanks
regarding WiFi performance, I have noticed a decrease in performance starting with 3.14 ROMs. When I revert back to 2.XX based ROMs, the problem seems to correct itself.
Perhaps you should revert back to older 2.14 or 2.13 based ROMs.
Thats a start... Will give it a go.

Telstra HD2 questions

Hey guys, I have a Telstra HD2, unfortunately its loaded to the hilt with Telstra's bloatware and the phone now is acting slow as crap, the battery seems to die out fairly quickly with little use.
Anyways, I'm wondering if it would be possible to format the phone and reinstall Windows Mobile 6.5 back onto it, without all the Telstra stuff.
Thanks much.
theres a loong thread in either general, or Q&A all about the telstra and how to tweak it, unlock quicklinks and such like, however the easy way is simply get rid of the telstra rom.
YOur telstra is just a regular hd2, so no need to look for specific flashing instructions. As far as flashing and stuff goes, there are tmous hd2's and regular hd2's, , , you have a regular, so any rom, any radio.
put simply,,, for a winmo rom - hspl4 - upgrade radio - flash rom.
for android - hspl4 - upgrade radio - magldr - clockwork - flash rom.
its easy, so long as you dont just leap in feet first. Read all the 'how to flash bla blah' threads, and you cant go far wrong. By sunday you will have flashed it half a dozen times
I also have a Telstra HD2. It is rubbish.
Trust me, so the following:
1. Install HSPL 3.08
2. Install 314 KH WWE ROM
I had the previous 172 HK WWE ROM. Was very good, smoothish and ok battery.
I have been running 314 for a week. The phone has NEVER frozen, it is smooth, snappy, and battery is even batter. Only using 50-60 a day, after medium-heavy use.
Good luck.
