I installed below program and changed the "U" icon to "3G", but now, I want default icon back.
Program is not listed in "Remove Programs" list.
So, how can I reverse this icon change, how to remove a program which is not listed under "Remove Programs", and if there is no way to reverse this change, which regedit key I have to modify to what???
Thank you for replies in advance.
The program I have installed to change the "U" icon to "3G" is:
http://www.8525software.com/component/option,com_remository/Itemid,27/func,fileinfo/id,22/
The file it installs is phcanOverbmp.dll. So you can delete that from the windows dir.

Thank you, I deleted it and soft-reset the device.
3G icon is still "E", it used to be "U" when it was default (I'm in 3G area), is there any registry settings I need to modify in order to roll back to factory settings "only" for this issue?
Thank you again.
Hard reset! Hard reset!
OK, here is the last question?
If I "hard reset" the device, am I going to lose my contacts I already copied to my SIM???
@Palmiye:
A hard reset doesn't affect contacts on your SIM card.

in windows\startmenu\programs the shortcuts are located
if you look at the properties of those programs you have uninstalled you can see where the program is located and you can delete it yourself if you like
Thanks, it seemed to do the trick. By the way, I don't really know how to manage my memory. It seems to be getting used up rather quickly. Is there some way I can move certain programs to a storage card or something to free up memory but still have full function of the software? I'm new to this. Thanks
well when you install the programs it ask you if you want them to install at the default location (that is if you install them using activsync)
if you say no you get the option of installing them to your sdcard
if you want to try it with already installed programs you could try
to move them and change the target in the shortcut
just make sure you recall where you moved them from if it dont work
and you like to move them back to get them working again
After deleting the file I was having problems with from windows I now am getting an error message: Cannot execute/Windows/StartMenu/Programs/IRKeybd.exe
I deleted the file, I thought. How do I fix this. Its messing up my imate.
when do you get that error ?
because if you get it after a softreset there may be a shortcut to it in windows\startup
I get the error all the time. It will come up randomly. There are usually about 14 pop up windows notifying me of the error. I looked for a short cut but don't know if I'm looking in the right place.
You may already be familiar with the InboxExtender install as it is one of the examples in the WM6 SDK install. This dll is very handy in that it lets you mark an entire folder as read by adding a "Mark All as Read" menu option.
Unfortunately... there is also a very dangerous menu option that is located just a fraction of an inch away. It is labeled "Delete All" and if you accidentally click it, it will without any warning, delete the entire contents of the current MAPI folder.
I have added some code to this dll that places a safety mechanism around the delete functionality. It will simply ask you for verification of your actions before continuing. A simple fix indeed, but makes the dll actually usable.
I have also modified the dll to "unregister" the previous dll (if you had Q Inbox Extender installed). This should have no effect if you had no previous installation.
Instructions:
1.) Copy SafeInboxExtender.cab to your device
2.) Navigate to the cab on your device and click it
3.) Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the install
4.) SOFT RESET!
5.) The "Delete All" function should now be safe!
Please let me know how it works for you.
seems to be very handy. will try it later. thanks...
awesome. Thanks for your work.
that's really great, i could use that before.
thank you very much
this type of menu editing, could you do the same thing to the calendar menu to add an option or edit a current option?
Nice, Great & Good Job
Thanks Ken Pendlebury Great Job!!!
Excellent, just started using this, of course only because it took me almost an hour of searching to find. We really need a thread of site devoted to links to all the various programs that have been developed here on xda-dev.
REQ: anybody thinks it would be a great idea if someone can develop a menu extension just like this for the EXIT or Close of a program - for those many programs that force you to use the X/OK button which is really a pain when trying to use one handed.
Is there anyway to have your messages marked as read via a program execution or maybe a script? Will this program do this?
This is awesome! What a great idea! I've been using it for a few weeks, and definitely saved myself the annoyance of having to restore all of my text messages after accidentally deleting them!
Safe Inbox Extender Much Appreciated!
Absolutely [email protected]#ing awesome! I have been looking for this for a long time. I have accidentally deleted all of my emails more than once. Thanks.

Good one. Thanks mate!
Good job, but is it possible to add it in manila menu?
nice i will check this out
little modification
Is there any posibility of marking the messages one at a time. Sometimes it is necessary to delete just some of the messages, I don't see any option to mark individual messages

So, when I get to the license menu, it asks for name and serial number. How do I enter my name and what serial number do I use?
Thanks for such a newbie question.

After using the program for over a month, I was just randomly asked this by my device. Entering the serial number (behind the battery) did not do a thing. I tried deleting the bandswitch program from the program list (settings, delete programs). nothing. (I am not getting ANY connections)
I tried a system restore using SPB backup saved about 3 weeks ago. Tried backing up from an even further restore point with SPB backup.
nothing.
Connection manager cannot find ANY connections. unable to manually configure network. using At&t simcard never had a problem til now. everything was great. WHAT HAPPENED!?
I can't use my phone at all. I'm gonna have to wait until I get home and reflash/reinstall ROM to start fresh. But I really shouldnt have to (!). checked with at&t/cingular (california, usa) no problems with towers or anything on their end.
wtf.

You need to buy the license to get it, from the website..
Then need to enter the Owner Info (name). This menu is hidden by default. U need tweak to enable Owner Info. U can use BsB Tweak from here.
The owner name i located in Setting Tab >> Menu >> All Setting >> Personal >> Owner Info.
Actually, there's several alternative to Bandswitch which is free. U can use WMLongLife (search it) which have more option. Or u can add 3G Enable Comm Manager (to enable/disable 3G) and in combination with Advanced Configuration Tool (to get disconnect idle connection setting).
Bandswitch is not freeware. Install Touch Tools instead. It has an option for auto-disconnecting data, among other options.
I have been using S740 for mainly GPS and I was wondering, is there any way to edit the applications that open up at start up?
I have Garmin Mobile XT for this phone so when ever I switch on my phone, I want this application to startup immediately.
I have searched google on how to but it couldn't help me. All I know is that I will have to play a bit with the registry in order to do that. I have Resco explorer with me so anyone can help me out?
Thanks
Application to edit startup : http://www.fewbits.com/startmgr/
You can just use any kind of file explorer and add Garmin's shortcut at the "startup" folder ( \Windows\StartUp )....
The best file explorer I can suggest you is "TotalCommander" : http://www.ghisler.com/smartphone.htm
Good luck
Thanks for the reply, sasiskas. I will try this out tomorrow and post how it performs
Great software, Startup Manager works great. I could add my program easily. Thanks again. But I am facing one problem. The SMS/MMS Window pops up after I switch on my phone. How do I remove that? And also I don't use a sim card for this phone so I also get a notification for SIM Failure at start-up. How do I remove that too?
"tmail.exe" is responsible for your sms/mms window...Try to find it using the program I told you...check everywere(when in the program press "menu"-startup/services/user notification)
As for the sim Failure I don't know...probably you will find it if you look in "menu-user notifications" in the program.
If you can't find anything there...then try downloading SKTools and go to "maintenance-windows startup"
Thanks again, sasiskas. But my ActiveSync says now failed to connect. Due to this I'm unable to install SKTools

what did you edit?
If you go to communication manager-connection there is an option that allows your device to work as a flash drive..do that and then move the sktools.cab file to your device and then from the device execute it.

Sir, probably it's me but I don't get/understand it!? What do you mean with "Shortcuts to manila"?
- Manila files are image files. Do you wont to skin manila files
and you don't know how to start?
- Do you will personalize the shortcuts? the one you see in the start window and on the manila home screen?
Maybe you can give some more information, it will be easily.
You need a .lnk in your start menu to the program. I use sashimi to copy .lnks to programs (not requiring registry information) installed on the storage card to /windows/start menu/programs. You can also just do this manually. Once the .lnk is there, you can add the program to the quicklink on the hometab.
I use Resco Explorer. Browse to SD -> Program folder > Select and long press the program you want > Send to > Start Menu as Shortcut
Then, go to Home tab, select an empty quicklink and select the program
