Trying to Flash to Radio 1.27 - 8525, TyTN, MDA Vario II, JasJam Software Upgradin

Hi Guys
I am trying to flash my Vario II to RadioROM 1.27 but am having little success, do I need to do something special to the device for this to work? i.e SuperCID?
I have a radiobootloader of 0107, I have tried updating using MaUpgradeUt_noID in both Bootloader and CE mode.
(Yep I have read the Wiki)

Run this:http://rapidshare.com/files/18091588/RUU_Radio_Only_1.27.00.00.exe Run from either BL mode or CE mode.

Ok am I doing something wrong?
- Connect the Hermes (ActiveSync disabled)
- Run MaUpgradeUt_noID.exe
But nothing happens, the update doesnt run.
Any help would be great!

you need activsyne ENABLED for CE mode

Sorry I ment I had disabled activesync usb mode, that file worked wonders!
All updated WOOT, running 1.27 now, all seems to be happy.
So tempted to update to WM6 but I think I will hold out for WMXL to come out of beta test, thanks for all your help.

Extracted radio ROM v1.20.31.10 from new jasjam ROM

I extracted the radio version 1.20.31.10 from the imate jasjam 1.31.305.2 rom using Asukal's method.
You can find the radio upgrade only and upgrading instructions on the Hermes Extracted Radio ROMs wiki page.
Remember:
- screen will show "Upgrade Radio Stack Please wait........."
- after finishing flashing radio you will see an "Upgrade Error", but the radio ROM will be flashed anyway
- no need to hard reset after upgrading the radio, only soft reset with stylus when upgrade ends.
- upgrade at your own risk, i take no responsiblity for anything that happens to you, your Hermes, your marriage, etc.
This sucks...I followed the directions to the letter and now I'm stuck on the windows mobile screen.
It seems that when it soft-rest, right above the D1.18 (on the bottom center on the screen) NO GSM appears for a few seconds then disappears.
i have exactly the same problem, it just sits at the windows mobile screen.
i am going to do a hard reset to see if that helps
too bad :/ I was just about to upgrade my radio rom with that.. thx for the notice.
Hard-rest doesn't help. I think the issue is NO GSM...the phone doesn't know what to do. And, not being able to activesync, I can't do anything else.
Had the same problem.
Put the device in Boottloader mode (left OK & Power & reset), and loaded Radio 1.16.
Workes !
Probably something went wrong during extracting 1.20 Radio.
oops... sorry guys, i will remove the upgrade inmediately... it worked on my hermes, will try to flash an older rom an try it again! Those who are stuck on windows mobile screen do what torklemm says: flash radio 1.16
That's what I'm trying to do now, I just hope it works.
Thanks.
EDIT: Can't seem to get it to see the phone via activesync. Unable to flash anything at this point.
I am going to give that a try now, will update with the results

You do not need activesync, disable activesync usb connections, put the device in bootloader mode and start the flash utility (ma_upgrade_noid) from 1.16 radio upgrade.

Tried that pof, all is get is "checking the info on your device and don't disconnect, etc" and nothing more. A few minutes later it shows the screen detailing the PPC radio and ROM versions and the radio version that I'm trying to install, but everything is blank. I say yes anyway and it just sits on the "checking the info on your device and don't disconnect, etc" screen forever.
That's why I thought something wasn't right w/o activesync. I'll try again.
EDIT, again: I'm now trying the Cingular 1.13 radio...that seems to be installing. Pray for me guys
EDIT 2: Yeah, I get the same error as you shark1
I get an error stating this utility is not design for this device please get the correct update utility
i have the same problem On boot i see "NO GSM". Now my tytn doesn't boot and also when i try to reload 1.16 radio it stucks... I'll try with 1.13...
1.13 don't go it say it's not designed for my device... o__O
now i'll try 1.11 same problem...
I'm uploading a "hopefully" fixed version on ftp (again, it worked on my hermes from 1.16 to 1.20), do not download it yet until I finish uploading... (17% now) i will edit this post and let you know when it is finished.
EDIT: Upload finished!
POF: OK i will wait, hopefully that will work, at present I will try 1.11 as others are trying 1.13
I get the same update error with 1.11
I have try to find my old phone, so I can make calls
Ok, now I'm totally confused. In bootloader, I don't see USB on the bottom anylonger. if I unplug my USB cable, I see serial...but I can't seem to do anything to get USB recognized again.
Why did I do this???
EDIT: Rebooted everything!
Hi all,
got the same problem. Phone in bootloader and can't go back to 1.16 or lower..... hope the new 1.20 will work

Putting radio 1.27 after mtty.exe OS upgrade to AKU3.3

I have upgraded my OS and EXT_ROM to the new test release.
now i have tried u[grading my radio to 1.27.
i keep getting the BOOT LOADER screen after a reset, tried taking out my batt. didn't help.
I`m now trying the radio update again.
1. should there be a problem updating to 1.27 after OS&EXT_ROM update?
2. what can i do?
flash 1.04 bootloader and it will be fixed.
Don't use 1.01 MFG to flash radios, this is a known issue
TNX, your my god
I had that same problem but I resolved it with instructions rom wiki.
http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=Hermes_UpgradeProblems
"Problem 4: Device is stuck in bootloader mode (tri-color screen)
Disable ActiveSync: connections -- settings -- uncheck "Allow USB Connections"
Remove the battery, put it back in, connect the USB cable, power on the unit (this should allow the USB port to be opened again)
Wait a minute or two, if you get a message that device cannot be recognized just close and ignore it
Open mtty.exe and select "USB" from the dialog box, then hit Ok.
You should see a white screen, hit enter and you should see a prompt like this: "USB>"
Type set 14 0 (do not copy and paste!!!) and hit enter
Soft reset with stylus
OS ROM and radio version should be back and OS functional, the unit isn't a BRICK anymore!"
And It worked

hmm. I successfully flashed Radio 1.27 with bootloader 1.01MFG.
Should I be or should I be worried?
If it works then no worries! 1.01MFG bootloader can flash radios but its much safer with 1.04.

thanks.
i will note that for future reference... i did flash 1.27 with 1.01 and didnt have an issue... but if i had known it caused issues i would have used 1.04... actually i wonder if thats causing a problem i have been having.. sometimes when i soft reset my phone it will only boot the the splash screen, at which point i have to put it in bootloader and just simply reset it again and then it will fully boot.. i have flashed different OS's here and there and the problem still occurs... hmm maybe i will experiment later

I have noticed that all with the radio xx.xx.01.xx has this problem...waiting for Pof's great work again
i hv checked and and HTC_BOOT is 0182, not 0107 or 0108
Can someone try to dump the radio with hermflasher and post it here?

Have you tried running Des's SSPL and/or flashing Olipro's Hard-SSPL?? ?
Yes. I've tried Des's SSPL and flashing Hard-SSPL 1.1/1.35
mike,
are you able to flash with a different ROM? WM6? I'm planning on getting one, and if I can't change to WM6, probably not - please advise.
I can (actually I am now using LVSW 26/3 version).
For the radio rom, however, I cannot upgrade to 1.38

I don't think it will work on a PowerPC mac, all users reported it working on intel mac. If you can get an intel mac or linux machine, start SPL-1.04 from SSPL or flash HardSPL 1.10.Oli (you need a bootloader with 'rtask' command enabled). Once you have it, run hermflasher like this:
Code:
# ./hermflasher -r dumpedGSM.nb
Hi Pof,
These were what I'd done yesterday :-
1) Changed X01HT's SPL to 1.10Oli
2) Installed Redhat 8.0 to one of my "Old" intel PC
3) Connected X01HT to the PC using USB
4) Typed these commands using the terminal
4.1) ./hermflasher -r dumpedGSM.nb
result : Cannot find any device
4.2) ./hermflasher -s /proc/bus/usb/001/017 -r dumpedGSM.nb
result : segmentation error
4.3) ./hermflasher -s /dev/ttyusb1 -r dumpedGSM.nb
result : Cannot find any device
As new comer to Linux, these were what I can do so far. Any idea/suggestions ?
it should be /dev/ttyUSB0 or /dev/ttyUSB1 (note the upper-case)
check your /dev directory after you connect your phone to usb, ttyUSBx files appear automatically, or at least, they should if your USB works right an you have put your phone to bootloader mode...
Thanks for your information. I've tried both ttyUSB1 (default) and ttyUSB2 but I still failed to connect. I am now checking the system log and seems RedHat reports error everytime when I connect X01HT to the USB port of this "old PC". Should I looking for some device driver or better install another Linux ?

Problem with RUU

Ok...I have been through all the posts about upgrading etc. I still have a problem and I'm sure that I'm overlooking something....but I can't figure it out on my own. Here is what is happening (it does the same thing with every RUU that I've used...the DST fix...upgrading to WM6....etc)
1. I run the RUU and let it go through its routine (extract files, verify info on pc, etc.)
2. I check the box that says I have read the readme and click next
3. The next screen appears and it has the following steps:
Connect to the USB cable (check)
Establish an ActiveSync Connection (check)
Disable standby and hibernation on PC (check)
Make sure batter is > 50% (check)
Then I check the box and click next
4. I pick the update and click on the update button
5. I verify that I want to upgrade my phone from ROM verion x.xx.xxx to x.xx.xxx and click next
6. The program tells me that I am finally ready to update...and if I am sure I want to proceed to click next...so I click next
7. As soon as I click next...the progress bar comes up on my pc and my phone goes into standby mode (no bootloader...just standby). The progress bar never moves.
8. After a minute or two the RUU give me the ERROR [260]: Connection
9. I reboot my device and repeat steps 1-8
10. I reboot my device and my computer and repeat steps 1 - 8.
Now if I leave my device connected to the usb and close out the RUU after it gives me the ERROR [260], and then run the RUU again...when it is first verifying the information on my pc (before it asks any questions and before it tells me to connect my device) it will throw the device into bootloader mode. If I try to keep running the RUU while the device is in bootloader mode it give me the error that my device is not connected. I have tried and tried...maybe one of ya'll can help me. Thanks in advance
Chris

and no did not install the Olipros bootloader
Ok...I think I found out how to do this...Ya'll can tell me if I'm screwing something up.
I go through all the steps listed above until it gets to the progress screen. When it gets there I manually put the the device in bootloader mode (Power, side ok, and reset). Once I do this...the progress bar starts moving. I will let you know if this works...
Hmmmm
Its not the way it should work but if it works its ok
You should have installed Olipros HardSPL first and then try to flash an official rom. If its working then something with your download is wrong.
What ROM is on there now?
Has the phone been CID unlocked?
Oli's CustomRUU is better, you may want to unpack the ROM and put the NBH in a folder with Oli's RUU and then do the upgrade.
BTW, gerald_s is right, you should not have to do that... what you may want to do is put the phone in Bootloader mode manually (while not connected to the PC), then plug in the USB, then start the RUU. That helps some people with 260 error.
I've got the same damn issue... it's driving me crazy. I had this occur when I flashed my Hermes100 from the stock version to Custel's. After about 15 starts and reboots it took. I'm now trying to get to Vp3G's 3.60 and it continues to give me the 260 error.
I am trying to figure out how to fomat my micro, but really hoping to find a solution over cable.
Hermes 100
IPL 1.04
SPL - 2.10 Olipro
Any suggestions?
You may be trying to flash a rom that includes the radio rom. What is your device? Is it possible that your device is a new x01ht with radio 1.14 and radio bootloader 0182? If yes, then you will get this error when you try to flash a rom with this method because during the flash it will be disconnected by the radio bootloader because it is not overwriteable. If you flash using the NBH file on the microSD, it will skip past radio and radio boot and just flash the other parts of the file.

If you are running windows XP, just connect the card to the computer, open MY COMPUTER, right-click the removable disk that is your microSD and then click format. Default in windows xp is to format using FAT32 filesystem which is perfect.
The thing is... if you dont know how to format a drive in Windows, should you be flashing your device yourself?
Which Solution???
I've got a Softbank X01HT with:
S/N: HT639
SuperCID <--- result of checking by mtty
IPL: 1.04
SPL: 2.10Olipro
GSM: 1.47.00.10
OS: 3.54.07 WWE
I tried to flash with new Schap 3.54c but the process would not be done coz ERROR 262 or ERROR 302. Fortunately, after failure of flashing, my device is still normal running. Then I tried to flash radio 1.51.00.10 but I got the same above. Once again, I have just tried to flash splash screen and I got the same result too. It mean my device can not upgrade anything !

I forgot to tell that, I had flashed through extra memory card yet, and could be done!
But I wanna flash ROM against CustomRUU through MS Active Sync as I had used before. Can you help me
i have a problem very similar to Chris. when i check the box "yes activesync is syncronised", and then the progressbar shows up and the phone goes into standby.
i've turned standby of in powermanagement options.
my os is XP
i use active sync v4.5
and this is first time i try this.
i've read something about this bootloader, i can get there but then i cannot sync with active sync. so i kinda stuck.
have been searching the forums and this was the same problem as mine but i don't understand your solutions.
//KufrA
--Problem solved--
i did all things without activesync,
1. start phone in bootloader
2. do the install
3. wait 0% to 100%, and done.
is there a problem with active sync or why do i have to do anything with it at all?

no rom to my device. only wm5.

hello all. i have an s200 G4, and it was in german. i tried to cid unlock it (succesufull), then tried to install a wm6.1. Didn't worked, after it was finished all i can see is the bootloader mode (i've removed the battery, put it back and turn on). I tried to get back to wm5, succesufully, and i tried to install a lot's of wm6.1, all are doing the same: bootloader mode instead OS system. what can i do?
Hi !
What did you do to CID-unlock the device ? Are you sure it was successfull ?
I've got a G4 S200 (French SPV M600) myself and I understand the CID unlocking cannot be performed on G4 devices, only G3 (see wiki here).
Did you use any hardspl or something of the sort ?
Regards,
David
yes i've tried. i will tell you tonight if will work with softspl, 'cause i didn't try that.
Ok...
Actually, "HardSPL or SoftSPL" doesn't really mean "CID-unlocking"... It rather enables you to flash ROMs without having to CID-unlock...
But HardSPL doesn't enable you to dump the original shipped ROM for example.
ok. i've made again now hard spl, and. i cannot install another rom instead wm5. what should i do?
so: i have installed Prophet_Orange_UK_ROM and was succesufully, and after that i've run on pda jumpspl and was finished. and after that i've tried several times (each time from beginning) to install many wm6.1 roms, but without success. each time appear bootloader mode after is finished the upgrade process. i've tried also with hardspl too. what can i do something else?
Is your PC using Vista by a chance??
nop. win xp.
What is the devices SPL before and after HardSPL?
It should change. If it does not, then HardSPL was not successful!
The device will not boot to the OS without Hard/Soft SPL being completed.
You can use a tool such as Dioxda2s "lazy tool" to automate the SoftSPL/ROM flash process.
the SPL was changed after hard-spl, i know the procedure. but, after hard-spl, I tried to install wm 6.1 (any version) and was succesfully, but, after it was finished, when to enter in OS, it doesn't. Is remaining in bootloader. but i didn't tried with that tool. I will, thank you very much.
