Installing Linux - MDA II, XDA II, 2060 ROM Development

Hi All
Just arrived at this place after doing a Google search. To be honest I am not sure what I want to do with this phone! I got given it by a mate who thought I might like to play with it! It has a couple of scratches in the screen!
Anyway, I thought I would have a go at installing Linux on the device. But after reading various bits I am not any the wiser! I generally use a Mac but I do have an Ubuntu box and access to an xp box. What I would like to do is install linux as an os on the XDA II. What are the links to do this please? I have never done anything like this, so I'll be walking in the dark, is ti going to be possible? Or do I need a degree in technical stuff?
Any help would be much appreciated or maybe there is someone in the uk who has a better idea of what to do with this phone!
Thanks.
Rich

HD2 & Android Noob questions

Ok,
So this is my first post here, so be nice
I work for Tmo, I have jailbroken iPhone before and I would consider myself pretty tech savy.
Currently Im rockin a Nexus one on 2.2 (love it) A Samsung Vibrant (Eh), and my HD2 is collecting dust waiting for Android.
-----------------------------------
However I was just curious if there is just a quick summary of how to install android on the HD2.
BTW I did not post this question in the Big Linux and Android on the HD2 thread for a fear of being banned!! Geez.
And yes, I used search, and I've skimmed the whole thread, and I've read the 1st 4 posts - and frankly its all a bit over my head & no one really simply answers this question.
I understand Linux needs to be running first, then Humbnti or whatever, then you can run android. But all of that is Greek to me. Like where do I find each one? Where does it go? So and and so on.
If someone could just break it down like this, im sure all somewhat tech savy people could do it easily. How about like this...
1st. You need to get Linix on your phone. Go here for instructions...
2nd. Then you need Humbuntu. Here are instructions...
3rd. You then install android, here....
Something in that format would be great.
And yes I know its not an everyday/ stable build. I have patience, but I would just like some direction.
Thanks for all your help!
Even simpler than that. Its one file. You DL it to your SD card and run it. To get out, soft reset.
Look up "Android HD2" on Youtube. Theres tons of videos on it now. Its here in the HD2 Android forum too... Everywhere.
Sorry buddy,
I think you have been mistaken, if your referring to this video...
youtube.com/watch?v=BujRY_q53JI
Its well known all over YouTube that the guy is a fake. That program will install viruses to your computer & his only intention here is to have people click on his ads.
If you have a video in particular your referring to, please post it here.

[Q] Tapas / DimSum (Crippled) Android on Sharp 72xxU Thread

Sharp has made a pretty nice Keitai-style Android phone: sh7218u , but has crippled the OS only to run chinese apps. (They call it DimSim)
What would be the best way on approaching a potential "uncrippling" of this software.. and installing a full blown Andorid on it ?
All suggestions welcome, (I don't wanna hear any "buy a HTC instead" replys) 'cause they don't make clamshell androids)
Thanks ,
The Keitai'ist
bump for you! Would like to know this as well.
Rooting software available.
Found a WHOLE bunch of software for the Sharp 72xx on a Chinese BBS, PM me for files... & guides
Anybody has more info on functioning of the SH7218U outside China, namely in EU? Been thinking about this phone as my second (private phone), I'll be able to order one from China in August... Is it worth the hassle and the risk?
Thanx
Alright everyone, I'm in love with this phone, anyone feel the same? Well, you're about too.
Here's a link to install and enable Gapps, use a translator if ya want.

Also, anyone familiar with the SH-01B? And it's really nice-looking big clock for the external display? I have the files for making yours look like that as well. Just PM me if ya want. Or just get it from this link.

Oh yeh, z4root roots this device fine btw.
Now, I don't really know how to read Chinese well so Ive gotten all this info from lurking Chinese forums searching for keywords or just finding these because of others. So, if anyone can help me out with translating this link I'm about to give, ALOT of helpful things will result since it's basically a thread on SH7218U optimization.

Also, if you check out this vid, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rmTf300BhpI ,this guys SH7218U is modded so the notification and virtual android buttons have a different look to them. I asked the guy and this is what he said, "It is similar to how to modify the status bar is other android phone (which you can search from google or XDA forum), but the tricky part is instead of modify the frame-res.apk. you do the modification on dianxinos-res.apk". Now that seems simple enough but I can't find any guide on HOW to do this, and him not replying any further didn't help me out.. SO yeh, if anyone can read/write Chinese lets look up on how to mess with the SH7218Us framework.apk and dianxinos-res.apk, as for now Ide rather not mess with those important files without a clear English guide.
So let's try and get something going here possibly maybe perhaps?

[Q] Fun ways to make my old HTC Dream/Possible Damn Small Linux emulation?

Well, I searched around here, And failed to find any relevant info, I'm looking for some thing fun to do with my old HTC Dream G1. I was wondering if there's any way to emulate DSL on it, if theres a VM or way to run it.
I'm also looking for any other creative Idea on what to do with the old thing.
Atm its running CGen 4, But I would like to use it as a small desktop os device or find some sort of creative use for it, figure DSL would be best because of the limited ram the device has, Even if its just a live boot.
Any advise or instructions or links that would help?
Google didn't find much other wise I wouldn't be posting.

Need a little bit of help...ok, more like a lot.

Ok just to make this clear, i am only slightly above a complete novice skill-wise, and i understand this is a experienced developers forum, but me and two of my buddies set ourselves the goal of creating an ultra-light weight android ROM, and i though i'd ask here for help. Since we're a tad clueless.
1.) What programs should i use to edit/compile the code? BTW, i'm stuck with 32bit windows 7 something or other. not enough money to buy parts or new laptop.
2.)Where do i get the actual code for the vanilla version of android? idk if i'm dumb, or if it really is that hard to find, or i'm not searching everywhere, but i can't find it.
3.)If anyone actually looks at this thread, do you have any tips for making a rom (besides prior experience. i thought this was a good way to get experience. instead i'm frustrated. immensely so.)
Ok

How to install Windows 10 on Yoga Tablet 2 830F ???

First of all I would like to say i have done a lot of reading both here and on Lenovo forums where unfortunately files and threads disappear I have done this reading long time ago and back then it wasn't possible to install Windows on the Android version of the tablet, however now after two years it seems it could be possible I see some threads about installing Windows on Yoga Books so maybe the situation around tablets evolved an its already possible.
I'm able to take some risks as the tablet is completely used at the moment and it will stay that way until it runs Windows, which i need to utilize the tablet car diagnostics which only run under windows. It would be really cool to make this work as I dont want to lave one tablet utilized and buying a new one cheap one for 100$.
Thx for your inputs !

Hey there. Have found any way to do it? If so, it will be very kind of you if you send the links and instructions. I've done some research myself. Yet no results.
