I'm hoping someone can help me out here.. For some reason the infrared port cover on the bottom of my Hermes is missing. It's the black plastic piece thats on the left of the soft-reset button. Anyone happen to know where I can purchase a new one? Dust, etc. gets into it and it may cause problems.
Anyone know where to get one?
a broken 8525 or tytn or any other family member on ebay? This woudl benefit because you have other pieces as spares just incase.
Hey, i would even send you a few dollars for the little black round plug that covers the antenna port on the back of the phone (I'm currently using a black pencil eraser).
you could also buy a replacement OEM case from the company that has been linked on this forum a few times.

Hmm very good idea. I didn't even think about that. Thank you for the advice. I will let you know if I get one
If you are looking to replace your 8125 case here's an excellent deal.
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=360011196557&ssPageName=STRK:MEWN:IT&ih=023
I've purchased one of these and it includes all the buttons. The antenna cover already had the antenna installed. It even included the black rubber gasket around the display. All I had to move was the ear piece and the vibrator.
I don't know if they are take offs but mine was in A+ shape. They don't include the back cover.
Awesome!
Beats paying $50+ for a new shell...
My only question is; can you move the MDA circuitry to the 8125 shell? Seems logical, seeing as both are the same hardware.
Great find... They also have the wiz200.

I got the same housing from this seller and it's brand new! No scratches, no nothing. Just be aware that it does not include the battery cover.

I bought one from them and sent a message to them that there was a chip in the corner of one of the pieces.
In the auction listing, it states that they may come damaged but should not affect working order.
So...be aware that there may be cosmetic damage.
They were kind enough to send a replacement, which I should be getting in a few days.
Hopefully, it will be a new piece.
Update:
These guys are great....well in my case anyways.
In the previous post I mentioned that a had a chipped corner on the housing and requested a new piece.
Well, those guys sent out a whole new setup..this one was in great shape....dont know if it was new, but looks practically brand new.
There was never any questions on their end...they just sent out another one.
I would recommend them highly. Great customer support.
O btw, I told them I would send the original one back...they said to keep it.
WOW...top notch guys.
I just ordered one of those cases i'll make sure to let you all know how it comes when i get it!
Very Nice... there were a few minor scratches on the corners and buttons but other than that the housing i bought for my wizard was in great shape! no battery door cover tho
can some post a pick of the how the device looks in this housing?
got mine. no back cover, no screws. so what, do i use the screws from my wizard shell to close the new 8125 shell?

Gotta check this out. It's alot cheaper than others.
Thanks
I got a Wizard 100 (Cingular Branded) shell. It looks brand new.......not one scratch on it. It didn't come with a battery cover though
Ordered it last night...Should be here middle of the week.I hope it's in good condition.
anyone knows where i can get some extra screws?
i was about to assemble the wizards guts in to the new shell, but the keypads dont line up, if i go along and assemble, i wont have use of the send call button and the end call button, and some other buttons as well
Good Deal
The one they sent me was in great shape!!!
I just ordered a shell for my T-Mobile branded Wizard 200....I hope it will be practically new like the Cingular Branded Wizard 100 shell I ordered earlier...
Does the innards from the T-Mobile version of the TD2 fit in the original Diamond2 housing.
Its something I'm thinking of doing...and would like to know if its been done or possible at all.
That would be an interesting project, hope you try it out. They only thing that I could think of not fitting is the speaker, which on the MDA is on the side of the device.
EDIT: Scratch that, the MDA also is on the side. It looks like it could work, but the only porblem looks to be the bottom of the phone, which is much curvier
You will need to purchase a touch screen digitizer if you try this. It is attached to the housing and impossible to remove without damage. Also, when removing the digitizer and other ribbon cables, remember to slide the little black peice slightly to remove it. Very tricky, but I have completely taken the topaz apart numerous times. P.M. me if you run into any snags..... although I don't recommend trying the switch unless you have experience in electronics. Good Luck!

I don't have experience! But its never held me back before. At the moment I'm having problems locating a full housing including the front and side buttons..the only housing I can find are without buttons....I was thinking of buying a dummy for the buttons...don't know if thats viable.
Be sure to tell us how it went, and any special steps/problems you encounter.
Although, it really does look more like a cheap LG phone than a Nokia, except for maybe the 5800.

Ebay! Or try CNN.CN for a more expensive approach.
They even sell a full black housing with the matt black if you want to be different.
http://cnn.cn/shop/t5353-touch-diamond2-topaz-c-277_829.html
CNN.Cn doesn't have the buttons included either
i too want to try it, but encountered the problem of the buttons... No housing is sold with the buttons. For the rest i can't see any difficulties, the Inside of the Compact V and the Topaz should be the same, i mean, will HTC manifacture a complete new phone just for T-mobile? I think just the housing is different.
When i find a way, i'll contact you!
I found one supplier....they include the front buttons but do not include the volume or power buttons
http://www.truesupplier.com/original-full-housing-cover-for-htc-touch-diamond-2-pr-18539.html
EDIT: Sorry it does include all the buttons as well as the front keys.....so ordered everything ...just waiting now
Topaz Antenna
does anyone know where I can I get the topaz antenna from ?
Received my casing today....but need the antenna.....the Compact V antenna is integrated into lower back of the casing as one piece....so its of no use
Dang, that sucks, I have searched for the antenna before, but haven't found any. Maybe try a broken TD2 on ebay or something. Other than that I have no idea

Well thats the only missing piece in the jigsaw.....so if/when I get it I will update the thread....in the mean time, if anyone knows where I can get this or make one up....its looks all plastic with 2 connectors...the connectors I have.
Has anyone replaced the little plastic flap that covers the USB port? Mine has finally broken off.
Is there anywhere to get a replacement online, and is there a resource for disassembly for the g1?
TIA
My device (Touch PRO) doesn't have it at all. I've seen that some devices have it and some don't. I think you can compare it to suspension housing of mountain bikes - some have some don't. It is just a question of dirt management style. While covers avoid the dirt getting in they also keep the trespassed dirt in there which also is not good. I don't think there is a good answer
I dont think he is looking for an opinion, I think he just flat out wants one. I could use one too, mine is broken as well.
As far as replacing, you can carefully insert it using a blunt pointed pin, I used some piano wire that was lying around when I did this to my last G1. Just "push" the ball into the housing. Alternately, you can use the plastic pry tools to lift that area, but it is a lot more work.

I'm not super concerned about dirt, and actually prefer not having it, but if i ever want to sell the device it would be nice to have it intact.

Exactly what I'm thinking! Mine broke recently and I actually like my phone without it better. However, as soon as my contract expires, I will want to sell my phone and get N1, so I think having all parts in place would be helpful, but I can't find it anywhere

Looking forward to it.
I'm in the UK and they ship from the US, so it might take a while. I've ordered it on 15th and got a shipping confirmation the next day, so hopefully some time next week I'll have them.
OK, got them... and I think it's a bit of a waste of money. They're too small and also when you need to for example plug-in the headphones, you have to figure out where to put those flaps not to loose them.
Anyway, you decide:
Does anyone have a service manual for the Jetstream ?
I wanted to take off the back cover and fix a large dent I got on it. I bought the 249.00 special on eBay. Other than that, the screen is perfect and the device works fine.
Now for some rooting and hacking !
I got two of those.lol.
There is a service manual on the internet but it doesn't tell you how to disassemble the JetStream; you won't find a guide like that anywhere.
I managed to open it but the battery is superglued to the back door aluminum plate and there are two rather frail cables that attach the battery to the motherboard and it uses a weird type of clip on connector that I haven't seen before; I didn't want to rip off that connector so I just put it back together and decided to live with the small dent in the back door. Get a nice cover and you won't even see it.
Moral of the story is....if it ain't broken don't try to fix it.

Yep, I have to agree with the moral of the story. I thought if it was simply, I'd give it a go !
This will have to do til the next tablet. I'm loving it so far.

I accidentally stuff a microSD card into the SIM card slot. Would appreciate very much if you could describe what tools (e.g.,TORX #'s) and a brief instruction how to open up a Jetstream. Thanks very much in advance.
Are there any microphone controls in this piece? It seems that the when we do a voice chat the voice is not picked up. Any help is appreciated

Sorry for the late reply, haven't checked this site in a while. Honestly I opened mine up so long ago that I barely remember the location of the screws, but you should be able to take them off with a T-6. Once you remove them, use a thin, plastic, prying tool to separate the back plate from the front piece - triple check to make sure you got all the screws out. It takes some effort to do it but be very patient and gentle with it; don't forget the wire that runs from the battery to the metal rear piece once you open it.
If I still had my jetstream I'd make a video or a disassemble guide with pics but I sold mine a while ago; got tired of waiting around for an updated android ROM. Good luck.
Thanks for the reply
