I just used the procedure described in the Wiki for dumping the ROM of my Tytn.
I now have 3 RAW files. I've also copied the Ext_Rom to my local hardisk so I have a back of it too.
The question is whather this DUMP has the Radio ROM too or only the PDA. What about the SPL and IPL and Radio-bootloader?
If I know use the Unlocking program and upgrade to a different ROM, will I be able to get back to the EXACT situation I have now?
I'm asking because my device was purchased from Orange Israel. If anytime in the future I'll need their support, I better have their original ROM installed. Will I be able to revert?
I have this same thing, only I've already installed Black 2.5, but I do have the .raw files and the ext_rom, but I do not know how to reconstruct
(this should work on hermes)

I just can't figure out how to create a OS.nb file :\
I just downloaded one of the WM5 WWE roms listed on the wiki and extracted the OS.nb from it. After a bit of trial and error i have managed to load back the original dumped rom that i created before i loaded Black 2, just need to work on replacing the splash screens, as those didn't return to original
From what i can tell this has only restored the OS, Radio Rom and everything else are unchanged
If you guys had done some searching you would have arrived at my WM5 Downgrade Guide, enjoy.

I had just a quick thought this morning, yepp Saturday morning thought are the best especially after playing on my PS3 ;-)
Ok so the main Idea is taken from what I was doing on my Qtek 9090 and my HTC Universal. As far as I understood, the RADIO ROM is the one that will lock back your unlock X01HT (correct?)
So you have either 2 solution that I did not tried yet on my Dopod (My X01HT already has the new ROM).
1) Extract the EXE file, remove the RADIO rom and do the upgrade, it should work, it has worked on my previous device so it should be the same on the HTC. Like this the upgrade won't affect the RADIO, the the OS and Extended rom
2) You want to upgrade all of the 3 ROM, Radio, OS and Extended, BuzzLightyears has a soft which can write rom (I done it on my HTC Universal) the Idea here is to get 2 ROM, one from Dopod for example and the Crappy Softbank one, extract all of them, keep the Dopod Radio.
Now with the soft of Buzz (go and check on its website) open the Softbank Radio rom and you will have the Country ID and other stuff needed for the Dopod ROM. Now Open the Dopod Radio ROM, copy those information on it and save the new edited Radio ROM. Take your tweaked Radio ROM to the Extracted folder of softbank, replace the Radio ROM and upgrade... it should work too and here you will have a New Radio ROM and normally you should have left your device unlocked.
So honestly this is pure theory, and I did not tried, yet, I may in fact do this on my Dopod in order to get the Correct Opensoftbank password if no ones comes to find it before April...
Cheers
PS if you think my post is damn stupid let me know and will go back playing at MotorStorm
1) Hermes uses NBH format, only 1 file wrapped with a signature, if you modify 1 byte signature and checksum is not valid, you can't flash it. This trick with older devices using NBF format for upgrading no longer works on new devices.
2) Dumped ROMs can't be flashed back as bootloader checks singature. You can't flash unsigned code on Hermes. This won't work too.
Anyway... nice try applying old tricks to new devices, but new devices are different, read the Hermes wiki and you'll learn a lot
Ok Ok nice reminder that I am just a dinausore which use win ce devices since over 8 years now will read the wiki, but first I have to go back to my PS3
I installed Olipro Hard SPL and am now able to try any wm6 ROM without SPL.
After having tried many of them, I would like to downgrade and try the last Qtek shipped ROM for wizard: QT_FR_9100_2170706_21707106_20710_180406.
But no matter how I try, I'm now unable to install that wm5 ROM.
Even my former SPV M3000 shipped ROM refuse to re-install.
I guess it's either a problem of RUU, or more probably a problem of SPL on those ROM.
I'd like to remove their SPL, but I don't know how to do.
Any tutorial, advice, or special no ID RUU that fits well those wm5 ROM?
The actual problem with this Rom is the RUU.
It won't let you downgrade.
However it is wise to get rid of the IPL/SPL, for safety and for keeping the hard SPL.
You can use typho5.exe to disassemble the ROM in parts, and use nbftool to re-assemble it without using the IPL/SPL.
They are available in the ROM kitchens.
Use the ruu in the hard spl thread for flashing.
Thanks for the reply, Equinoxe.
Actually I've already tried many RUU, not only the Ruu already included in the official ROM.
Mun RUU etc. But no luck, all kind of error occured but the the flashing remains impossible.
I'll try to find the tools you told me about and see whether removing IPL/SPL makes it easier to flash those ROM.
If you know any special RUU suitable for such a downgrade, please, let me know.

If Mun's RUU didn't do the trick, you better use the CORE pro kitchen.
You can extract the parts with typho5.exe
usage:
typho5.exe -x nk.nbf
all the parts will be created/extracted
Delete all the IPL_1 IPL_2 SPL_1 and SPL_2 parts
use nbftool to reassemble the ROM. (read the PDf to see the starting addresses, although nbftool should be patched to show the right addresses)
Good luck

Hi Equinox, thanks for the reply.
I started trying to get typho working, but all I could see was a brief command prompt and nothing else.
Finally, I ended up using Molski DevPack, which already includes those tools, in quite an ergonomic way.
After finding a guide about using those tools, It took me, no kidding about 10 mn for the whole process and 5 more to do the flashing.
I used nb2nbf_wizard to reassemble the ROM with only the parts I wanted to keep, including the extended ROM.
Regarding the address, it did it automatically, except for the HTC logo that I did manually, and also for the name of the Extended and Logo I renamed according to the sample jpeg showing that soft in action.
Since I kept the extended ROM and the original splash and logo screen, and I now have an authentic Qtek Wizard, just for fun.
But the most important is the feeling of building one's own ROM, according to your own taste and choice. Wonderful.
You were right: after having removed SPL/IPL and rebuilt the ROM, the Mun RUU worked flawlessly to flash my so called Qtek ROM onto my wizard.
In the meantime, It got rid of the pile of miscellanous splash screens and logos that were left since the install of all previous wm6 ROM.
Thanks again for the tips.
P.S.: the guide I used to understand how to use the Molski DevPack:

Hi @ all...
so time has come i will return my phone to tmobile, because of the heavy problems with the slide-out-keyboard. i tried to solve my keyboard-problems with the orignal shipped rom, but i realised that it doesn't matter which rom i flash to my phone, the problem seems to be of hardware-ish nature...
so now my problem is: i want to fall back to the original state...
i want original IPL,SPL,OS,Radio, Boot, etc etc...
i tried to flash the "Original Shipped TMOB101" from the wiki, it flashed nice with CustomRUU...the original flash utility couldn't find my phone.
so i unpacked the exe and flashed the nbh with CustomRUU... flashed nicely, but didn't boot... first problem: whitescreen, second: hang on windows mobile screen, third: NOGSM... tried to flash newer GSM 1.43. this worked nice then, but isn't original... any idea how to get the 1.05.02 radio running? tried to reflash the complete tmobile nbh again, same result.
tried to flash with Vista, and also with XP, nothing changed...
next problem i assume is: how to downgrade SPL? and how to detect Bootversion? could it be, that i flashed some newer boot in between, because, i have always flashed newest radio roms, could it be that i flashed a boot together with a certain radio?
hope someone can help me... my device is also simunlocked, i hope they do not recognize it at tmobile. but i want to get everything else into original state before returning.
greetings
garfield
There is now an official wm6 update which you can use
it's available here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=337163
If you're wondering if it's properly been released, it's also available on the t-mobile business site.
Shaks
shaks1979,
I have just been to the tmobile business site and I cannot find the WM6 update - please can you post a link to it?
many thanks,
Paul
the german t-mobile site dies not offer to download the upgrade yet.
flashed the new WM6 from t-mobile yesterday, and it works really great, but my keyboard isn't functional anyway...
has anyone an idea how to enable the flash-utility to overwrite the SPl and IPL? because my tri-color-screen reads IPL-1.01 and SPL-2.10-Olipro and this means, both of them have not been updated... any way to overwrite these rom-sections with the now tmobile ones?
so when finished upgrading (IPL and SPL have to be upgraded before i can go on) i will return my phone to a tcom store, they have to bother with my keyboard issue... my phone isn't a half year old by now... keyboard issues like this shouldn't be there i assume
greetings
and thanks for the new wm6 links.

Extract the nbh file from the T-Mobile ROM and flash it with CustomRUU. This will overwrite IPL / SPL
[...see reason]
which settings do i have to use with CustomRUU? do i have to select same radio-buttons as always? (SPL 2.10-Olipro/Is it HardSPL) ?
okay, so i found the option via try and error i had to use use: Force UNSAFE SSPL.
i have another question now:
as far as i know, t-mobile DE has not released this ROM to its customers via their website, so i have to flash my phone back to WM5 original rom, and bootloaders, because this new tmobile rom didn't make my problems with the keyboard go away.
my local store told me that they will send the device back to tmobile, and tmobile then will repair or exchange the device.
so if they send it back to tmobile, i uess i have to put it into original state, haven't i? cause flashing the rom causes loss of warranty, doesn't it? i hope they will not recognize, that i sim-unlocked it (did not touch the CID).
problem occurring: i extracted the nbh from the original shipped-archive and flashed it with CustomRUU but when booting NO GSM shows up, and windows stops booting during first bootsplash... sometime during second bootsplash... any idea? might it be that it was like this, because of olipros 2.10 SPL?
greetings

I wonder why you SIM unlocked your device?
The German Hermes never was SIM locked, so, there was no need to unlock it!
You will either have to Soft-CID-unlock or Hard-CID-unlock your device if you want to flash it otherwise it won't work!
What settings are you talking about? You simply copy the nbh file to the CustomRUU folder and run the UPDATE UTILITY in there! There are no settings, it works the same way as the utilities from shipped ROMs - simply follow the instructions on screen and do not plug out nor touch the device until the job is done!
So actually it is not a hermes, it is a MDA Vario 2 from tmobile, isn't it?
partly you're right, the device wasn't sim-locked, but net-locked, wich means i cannot use my second sim card from vodafone with it. so i had to unlock it.
(i tried without unlocking, the phone asked me for a certain code and no, it was not the pin-code from the vodafone-sim )
if you launch CustomRUU you are asked for the version of your SPL, at least this is what happens when i start it. if you cannot imagine what i am talking about, i will make a screenshot, for better understandings.
I had Hard-SPL installed, this is a form of SOFT-CID-unlocking?
with having Hard-SPL installed i could not boot the original shipped german TMOB101-rom from the wiki...
can i flash the old ipl/spl/radio/os without worries?
greetings
garfield
Within the CustomRUU folder you should see a file called ROMUpgradeUt.exe - this never ever asks for SPL, it is nothing but a modified FLASHING UTILITY.
i only have ruuwrapper.exe
i used this customruu v5.2 from olipro's thread
what customruu are you talking about? actually i never saw a file named ROMUpgradeUt.exe
where to find?
thanks for your help.
greetings
garfield
EDIT:
i have just found this:
NOTE: If your radio version is currently HIGHER than 1.27.00.00 then it is very likely the radio bootloader is version 0108, this WILL NOT allow the radio to be downgraded to a radio containing BL 0106 and will result in a "NO GSM" error. As with other downgrade guides this is NOT intended as a guide for claiming the warranty of the device having flashed components which are not authorised by the manufacturer or carrier.

For anyone that needs it. First I flashed the Stock AT&T rom from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=410159, under Available Shipped WM 6.1 roms. If you also flashed a differnet Radio you will need to revert that back to OEM also before proceeding. Following the directions on the Hard SPL Sticky, I downloaded all 3 cabs in the first post. I unzipped and extract all 3. I double clicked the icon in the Hard SPL cab folder and watched everything extract. I copied the RUU_Signed.nbh file from the Stock SPL folder into the Hrd SPL folder, replacing the original in there. I then executed the update and my Fuze Blacked out. It would not restart and I freaked. I pulled the battery, counted to 30 and re-installed it. Thankfully it booted back up. I started the whole process over using SSPL Manual process instructions on the Hard SPL Sticky and it also failed. I then tried the first method again, staring with my Fuze on the Bootloader screen (Volume Down and reset with Stylus until it comes up on the tricolor screen) and it worked perfectly. As my fuze shipped with SPL 1.95 I then had to re-flash the stock AT&T rom once more for that to upgrade from version 1.90 to 1.95. I hope this helps anyone else with the same problem. Good Luck!
1.95 SPL
Jakedog you Da man OMG how did you figure that out????? Mine worked like a charm no hang ups at all and now I will be taking this Fuse back to AT&T like nothing happened. LOL......... Once again big props to you because nobody on this forum knows how to get the 1.95 SPL back, they do not even know it comes with the 1.95.... Thanks
If you guys read the Wiki you would find all this info there also.. no need to "figure" it out.
Take a look at this post:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=448008
Nice, huh?
Hrd_spl 1.95
I did read the post and used the old zip file:StockSPL_ForWarrantyOnly_SPL190_1.zip but guess what the new Fuse has a 1.95 SPL, so what good does the 1.90 do me So the question is how to get to 1.95 when no one has extracted the stock 1.95 SPL from the Fuse? Now thats not in the Wiki????? Yes check the wiki the new Fuse has 1.95 SPL not old 1.90.
ilanoraa,
Didn't realize that regarding the SPL... maybe you can update the Wiki (anyone can) to include this.
Jakedog you rule!!!
Anyone please confirm I am thinking right?
Here’s what I did:
1.From T-mobile.cz I got the factory Czech T-Mobile Rom (*.exe)
2. I extracted the *.exe with WinRar and got a bunch of files.
3. I took out RUU_Signed and extracted it with NBHtool and got 4 *.NB files:
769.nb
PrimarySplash.nb
SPL.nb
Windows.nb
4. In the meanwhile I extracted my original reconstructed Dutch T-Mobile RUU_Signed.nbh (confirmed working) and took the Windows.nb
5. From the Czech *.nb files I deleted the windows.nb and replaced it with my Dutch windows.nb
6. With htcRIE 0.5.0.12 I put the three Czech NB’s:769.nb (suppose radio), PrimarySplash.nb and SPL.nb together with The Dutch windows.nb together in New RUU_signed.nbh.
7. I put the newly created RUU_Signed back into the folder with files from step 2.
8. Using Winrar I stuffed ala these files together in an *.sfx file that has an instruction saying that after extracting the sfx it should start RomUpdateUtility.
9. So far so good! I clicked the sfx and it would nicely extract and start the Czech RomUpdateUtility. The utility being Czech is no problem as I/we have been using it probably a sillion times and don’t read it.
10. Now I don’t have the guts to test it on my Dutch MDA Vario IV JJ but want to know wether this would work in case of RMA.
I remember that the Dutch factory ROM-upgrade for T-Mobile Vario III (Kaiser) would restore everything: SPL, Splash etc) By doing the above I somehow think I have re-created sort of a Dutch “factory” ROM upgrade that will restore everything back to stock.
Suppose this works, will I be able to go back to Hard SPL a second time? (heard some rumors...)
I want you guys to know that I don’t have any education in ICT but consider myself smart enough to figure things like this out . However… I am not too sure about what I have created.
Thnx. For any kind of feedback.
Am willing to upload this for people who want to try.
Free Rapidshare (10 downloads) if needed I will put it in my FTP.
Was it not in The raphael original shipped ROM wiki?
Also if it would help, I think I still have the files backed up at home somewhere. If you want I could look for it.

It was but when reading the thread that goes with it I get serious doubts about that one working well
I have them backed up as well but I never dumped the splash, radio and more important the SPL. and everyone is talking about SPL's lately but no one can answer me wether one of the offered solutions is a working one.
So I was thinking to sort of creating a oneclick solution for whenever a RMA occures to me again
Was this a dumb question?

If you were able to download a factory ROM directly from your Carrier's website, then it would include everything you need to return your device to stock.
Then, all you would have to do is follow the instructions in the Hard-SPL thread to install the stock SPL (if you've flashed Hard-SPL), and then re-flash the factory ROM you downloaded to restore the original SPL.

There is no Dutch T-Mobile factoryrom.. that is the first thing I checked of course even before I had my first Vario IV at home.
And I still think somehow to remember that flashing the stock T-Mobile to my old Kaiser did flash the stock SPL as well... however I am starting to have doubts now..
Besides I haven't found anyone yet confirming that the Stock T-Mobile SPL from the Stock SPL thread actually works...
And the thingy I created should flash back stock radio and splash.. would you know of any safe way to test this Captain_Throwback??

I don't know of any "safe" way, no. I have no confidence that the Stock SPL from the stock SPL thread will work, either - that's why I had that thread closed. After you flash the stock SPL from the Hard-SPL thread, you risk bricking your phone if you try flashing a created ROM to it (even if it is created from parts of stock ROMs).
If you have a stock SPL on the phone, its possible that the extracted SPLs from that thread will actually work; but I'm already on my second phone, so I'm not willing to risk trying it.

That's my issue since tuesday I am dealing with my second raph as well the other one was only a couple of weeks old. The mobo burned and they were not able yet to recover anything. But I have set my goals on a working recoverymethod.
Too bad you had your thread closed as it was going somewhere good. and people not reading or trying unconfirmed things take their own risks as this is a development area.
Would you reconsider asking NATF to reopen it and change the topicname?

Well, I think any future conversation on the whole "flashing back to stock" can be carried on in JZ SmartMort's thread with the instructions on how to do that. He also explains in there why none of the SPLs that I extracted will ever overwrite Hard-SPL. Unless Olipro or cmonex enlighten us on how they were able to modify that 1.90 SPL to overwrite the Hard-SPL, that's the only one that'll ever work.
I did see you posted in that thread, but I think if you really NEED a different SPL than one that's in an existing stock ROM, that if you PM Olipro or cmonex, one of them may be able to help you.

If you're able to successfully flash your Franken-ROM w/stock SPL to your phone after flashing the 1.90 warranty SPL, your phone still works, and you can connect to a computer using Activesync or Mobile Device Center, there's no reason you shouldn't be able to re-flash Hard-SPL onto your device.
