Question I have is.. What exactly does the IPL/SPL do? lol ..
apparently doesnt let you make calls. every time i try to dial a number, it says your international call cannot be completed as dialed... its useless, i just did it on my g3.

IPL and SPL are your bootloaders.
They initialize and load your OS and radio. different versions have different commands available to them and in some cases a higher number means a better version. In others the higher number means there are security "fixes" that will make it harder for you to flash your phone.
For a Wizard I have seen no reason to update higher than the T-Mobile 2.26. But then again you should only do this if you have a G3. Flashing G3 bootloaders into a G4 device will irrevocably brick it.
I believe (don't quote me on this though) that only official carrier roms (newer than the G4 device) contain both G3 and G4 bootloaders and as such are safe to flash to a G4 device. I would confirm this with your carrier before doing so though.

Please clarify this matter so that other users don't brick their phones!

I am a french guy, my provider is Ten Mobile.
I already have brick my Wizard before. Thanks to the guarantee, it was repaired.
Just replace Updater by ROMUpdateUtility-NoVendorID.
2 days of use nothing to announce.

I have a G4 CID locked phone and IPL/SPL thats older than 2.26 and I see no reason to update them still, considering that I can upgrade everything else (OS, radio, ext rom, splash) without touching IPL/SPL. Of course, I am a little more cautious having bricked (yes, real "replacement required" type brick) my phone once.

You flashed your O2 (G4 and CID locked device) with T-Mobiles ROM?! Sounds crazy to me... Are You sure that your device is CID locked at all? Even G4 device may be CID unlocked, using imei-check - only way this thing have some sense...

This will help the Guru's determine if there's a compatability issue with the higher ipl/spl devices. (it appears some G4 devices can be upgraded, while others might not be able to. )
Running RUU_Molski.Biz_226102_22610105_022511_G4_WWE-30MB now without any problems. The newer Molski rom gave a compatibility error when I tried to flash.

Found out the reason that the 3rd Edition of Molski didn't work was due to the old "ROMUpdateUtility_Wizard_NoID.exe" used by Molski. After I changed it to the newromupdateutility_wizard_noid.exe, it flashed. However, I'm facing the same problem with other G4 users where only the Extended ROM and splash screen were updated, not the OS and radio.

Please enlighten us on how to CID unlock a G4 (short of the new pay way). FWIW, the noid change suggested should work (G4 here it works on no problem).

Well, the Wizard Love ROM mentioned in the first post worked. It's using the new NoID_RUU. My phone has been upgraded to OS 2.26.10.2 AKU 2.3 now.
same for me. I have 2.21.001, CID Locked and Wizard love took my aku from 2.0 to 2.3, all works great.

If your Wizard is fully functional, why would you want to upgrade these on your device? If you do some reading on the Hermes you will find that the carriers/manufacturer are using the bootloaders to make it harder to update your device (i.e. the .0108 bootloaders) locking your device to a certain radio. I would steer away from upgrading these unless absolutely necessary, so as to upgrade a radio if required for example.
BTW: Most of the ROMs cooked for G4's that are cooked to not touch the bootloaders to 1) prevent noobs from bricking their device and 2)to allow any ROM to be installed. Aren't the developers great? They cook these for both G3 and G4.
IPL/SPL can't be replaced on a G4 with any of the roms atm, but if you got IPL/SPL 2.18 you're device isn't a G4!

But I've got three zeros after that 2.18.0001 I think this is absolutely G4--> the reason why I want to update IPL is, my speaker make no voice and I think after that can be working again
That makes more sense. IPL/SPL 2.18.0001 makes it a G4. I haven't seen a update possibility for IPL/SPL on a G4 yet. Be very careful, flashing 2.26 on a G4 will brick you're device!

This doesn't mean you can't try flashing a different cooked rom for a G4. Try it, the other possibility may be a hardware failure (bad speaker).

As mentioned in an earlier post... there is no way to update the IPL/SPL on a G4 as of yet. I do not think you will be able to find such a ROM. The only way I think you would be able to do this is if your carrier released an official ROM specifically for your G4 device, but that is unlikely. None of the G4 ROMS cooked by the Xda-Devs that I'm aware of, update the IPL/SPL. Try a different cooked G4 ROM, if that doesn't work I suggest having that speaker checked out. I don't remember reading anything anywhere about the bootloaders affecting the devices speaker function.

Read the wiki at first. You don´t have to unlock for flashing, but to downgrade your prophet to a special version. Then you can flash some of the versions you prefer.

CID lock has nothing to do with the OS. you can upgrade/downgrade your OS with CID lock phone. on the other hand you can not dowgrade your IPL/SPL if your phone is CID lock. ( don't change IPL/SPL if you don't know what they are)

But unfortunatly it is WM5 rom.

How on earth did you get that IPL/SPL? Did you CID unlock your G4?
I owned a HTC Wizard, and now I just got a Atom.
To refresh ROM into HTC Wizard, first you have to determine the device version is G3 or G4, and get the IPL/SPL version, then unlock the Cid. Otherwise the Wizard would be bricked.
But I noticed in the atom updating, few thread talk about Cid, IPL/SPL, or G3/G4,
Does Atom need unlock the Cid? or IPL/SPL? or bootloader?

Welcome to the atom family =)
As I understand what you are trying to say is flash the rom (as stated above as refresh). There is a different way for the atom in upgrading the rom, unlike in your previous unit as wizard. it would be better if you will read the wiki first prior to flashing the rom at once. You would be more familiar with your unit as well, just click on my sig on the wiki and all your questions will be answered. enjoy reading!

the reason other devices need to unlock CID is to flash other ROMs. CID - country ID. if you have a CHT device and want to move to WWE, BUT there is no CID unlocking in Atom because you simply change the hex values in ROM and you can flash it to your device. So, no need for it.
