Error at 99% while flashing - G4

I have a tmobile g4 wizard.
when I tried flashing it either:
a. gives me a old utility error
then i get the newer italian 2.5.2 utility to flash with.
b. no matter what rom i use (I tried molski's 3.3 and crossbow reloaded 1.7 = both are without ipl/spl)
the utility seems to update, and then gives me an error at 99%. it doesnt crash, it gives an error
then i have to flash it back to tmobile or wizard love to get this working.
any idea guys ?

yeah, put your device into bootloader mode before you start the RUU.

doesnt help.
again meter progresses to 99% where it turns red and then the application on the pc gives me an error.
firewalls / antivirus are turned off too.

Hello i had the same problem while updating to wm6 my qtek 9100, here is the solution: downnoad the Wizard_Love rom, t is already patched so it works on your g4, Read g4.3 Here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=310831&highlight=Wizard_Love

First off have you CIDunlocked your device before you flashed?

I was having the same problem with my phone yesterday. I thought i actually bricked it when trying to flash it. Eventually i had to use the rom from the htc website and then use ShellTool from the sticky in this forum. Finally i got wm6 loaded with its help.
Good luck!

G4 stuck in bootloader and no connection with AS

Hi,
I upgraded ROM on G4 Wizard CID-locked wizard from T-Mobile CZ 2.21 to Superrom 1.1. But after flash, wizard stuck in splashscreen with IPL/SPL.
I can go to bootloader, but when I tried to flash another ROM via RUU (T-Mobile CZ official, Superrom for CID-locked G4 or Novii Love), RUU said - Connection Error. Simply AS and RUU can't connect to PDA. PC identified Unknown device, when I plugged wizard to PC
I tried it on 2 PCs (1. AS4.2, 2. AS 4.5 beta2), nothing....
Any ideas ? Thanks very much
Are you doing it in the correct order? That sounds dumb i know...but i had a similar problem and found out it was because i wasnt doing it in the correct order.
You have to setup bootloader and then connect usb, if you do it the other way around you get some funny errors. Thats just what i found....it may not be of help to you.
Sorry if you know this already, just trying to help, im new too.
ROM
I know i wont be fixing your problem, but, you can be sure that after the comunication problem is solve, you can use the WizardLove rom.
I mess with my phone recently, and i got stuck at the bootloader, and that rom was the only one that worked.
Ok, thank you
Problem was found. When I tried to find driver for PPC automatically, PC found nothing, but when I manually chose driver from AS\Drivers, PC driver found
Now I can flash via RUU
i had the same problem was working till 5 am to solve it
folow the directions in this thread and it should be alive once again

Xda Mini S (G4) Stuck

Hi,
I had successfully used ShellTool to load Crossbow Reloaded v1.5 on my Xda Mini S (G4 CID-Locked)
But then I became inquisitive and I tried loading the WM6 Business Edition.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=302934
The process interrupted abruptly as the activesync connection broke (Don't know why that happened.) However I restart the device and now it is stuck on the initial blue O2 screen displaying IPL, SPL, GSM and OS information.
Now it is mentioned here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=293480
That if the device does not boot I should restart it in the bootloader (which I did), connect the usb and run RUU. But the download (Wizard_Love_2.26.10.2_WWE_Novii+CF2.rar) contains newromupdateutility_wizard_noid.exe and on running that I get the CONNECTION ERROR. I think this is happening because in bootloader, actyivesync cannot connect.
Sorry I am a novice in this... please help.
Regards.
Activesync will not connect from the bootloader. This is not a problem. Activesync is not needed to flash your phone. You just need the USB connection in the bootloader. As long as you see the letters USB in the corner you can flash.
Did you use the shelltool in the attempt to load the other WM6 rom? And if ActiveSync is required to use the shelltool then you may have to flash an official carrier rom in your current state (one that matches your CID so it will flash) and once your device boots again you should be able to use the shelltool and load the other rom that you want.
Personally this sounds like a big hassle to me and if it were me I would just pay the 25 bucks or whatever it is to get the unlocking software from the unlocker website and CID unlock my device so I could pretty much flash at will (G4 safe roms of course)
Downloaded the original rom from my-xda.com and it worked. Got the original system back.
Just updated to faria's wm6 using the same shelltool and all works fine. Looking at voip now.
thanks for the suggestion.
Cheers..

My GPS isn't working after upgrade to wm6..HELP

Hi,
I've an AMEO, i tried recently to upgrade to WM6 here is what i've done so far
1. Unlock / SuperCID by the tool provided in the forum (Successfull)
2. Tried to use the SuperCID only Rom in the forum (here the trouble started)
With everytime i try to upgrade the update process stops at random points, i extracted the rom to check where does it stops and i found that it stops when i tried to flash the GPS.. i did succesfully flashed the whole rom twice but neither the Wifi or the GPS worked, and now i'm running it with the official release wm6 (27/7) but without the GPS.
3. Extracted the GPS and tried to Flash it through SD .. same thing.
any ideas guys?
i've been trying this for 2 weeks now .. what is the hell is wrong with this phone ..
NOTE: it works perfectly with the WM5 ROM
Try a different ROM Image...
run a tool called GPSviewer to check whether it can communicate properly with the GPS module.
Doesn't work
It defenitly not the rom as i used it on the other AMEO i've and it works perfectly, i usually use the SD update, and it shows where is the error and it is at the GPS update .. i get the error 00018003 in red color on the top of the screen and the GPS- ( FAIL ) during the update. i've tried all the rom in the forums and it does the same. I've tried to downgrade again to WM5 and it is the same issue the GPS isn't working anymore.. is there a solution .. it seems it can't write at that address i think 00018003 or something like bad blocks in the NAND! is there any fix for that?!
Experts .. i needd youuuuu
Try the SuperCID2 unlocker, then try reflashing.
Never heared about SuperCID2 !!! What is that, if there is something like that where i can find it?! i did search the forum didn't find anything
Thanks for helping

Installing WM6.1 then wm6 bricked....

I have installed this GPS rom, then decided to reinstall WM6 from HTC site. Now I cant sync with my Vista WMC. I tried re-installing the WM6 fresh install and bootloader says there is an error. It starts to load in the RBG screen says 1% then says error not connected. Everything is connected right. Currently my pc sees the P4000 I cant edit extract or copy files to the unit. WMC says error. My Ipaq syncs no problem. I dont know what to do. The HTC techs dont know either. Is there a way I can flash the rom first then install WM6? Is this a hard problem?
relock, and install stock pre-gps rom.
Sounds like an incompatible boot loader. What does it say when you load up the RGB screen? Like the guy before me said you will likely have to re-lock and re-flash.
Qsn tho, Why the heck would you want to go back to stock?

Error [262] Update Error

Hey guys...sorry if this has been covered. I tried searching the forums and can't seem to find anything on it.
All of the roms seem to be plug it in, install it and BLAM, you're ready to go.
My issue is that I get a communication error everytime I try to install any roms or the HardSPL. The exact error given is "The ROM Update Utility has encountered communication errors during the update process. The program will guide you step-by-step to recover from the error so you can continue with the update."
While performing the updates, I hear the sound as if my USB disconnects, then it reconnects after it restarts into the multi-colored screen. It shows "Security disabled" at the top of the screen. It proceeds to the loading bar and just sits at 0% until it comes up with the disconnect screen.
I'm using the HTC Touch Pro running WM6.1 on the Sprint network.
Again, sorry if this has already been discussed, I just couldn't find anything on it.

Your phone's cdma. This is a gsm forum. I'm assuming that you're trying to brick your phone with the gsm hard spl and not trying to flash the proper hard spl. Stop doing that, your phone is getting pissed at you. Go to ppcgeeks or the cdma (Herman, not Raphael) forum here.
haha leave it to me to find the wrong way to do something. I appreciate your heads up Ted!

same issue on GSM phone
Hi I have the same problem on a GSM phone.
I get the updating bar on my phone- it stays stuck at 0%.
then a communications error
Thanks in Advance
What is the problem with the RUU update?
I have searched for a solution to the RUU update/upgrade problem; none so far. Apparently, it is a major issue. I am interested in upgrading my Windows CE on my Xperia 6.1 to 6.5. I must have tried over a dozen times. The update process stops at 0% and Error [262] is reported. What can we do to resolve this? Is it compatibility or scalability issue? is it a problem with the software? The fact that it is working for some . . . and not for others is a source of concern about the stability of the software and this has potential implications; or it may well have to do with the hardware limitations of the PDA. Any ideas of a workaround?
You might try the Experia forum. You also might want to try Experia Roms.
I used to experience this issue as well. I simply go into communications and hit the USB to PC connection. Then remove the advanced functionality check. This has resolved many of the communication errors when playing with ROMS. This has been true with both GSM and CDMA devices.
I can confirm the issue. I have a 1st day release Fuze and flashed HardSPL no problem and have been making my roms ever since. But my cousin just got his new AT&T Fuze through his company and it refuses to HardSPL.
I went through several versions of the HardSPL and tried installing new drivers for the phone while in bootmode... all with no luck.
When connected through Activesync or Mobile Center, running the HardSPL brings up a confirmation windows on the phone, allowing reboots the device. It gets stuck at the black screen and times out. I've tried manually putting the phone in bootmode and trying it, but never gets past 0%.
I wonder if newer model TouchPro's are coming out with a revised bootloader?
Dunno if i can link to another forum. If not, appolgize and Admins remove the link than please.

Yes they are coming with a new bootloader. I just got my phone replaced from ATT and the new one came with 1.95 version while originals were 1.90. There is no HARD-SPL out for 1.95.
The way to do it now is to flash an old original AT&T rom with the 1.90 bootloader (since it's original, it won't require HardSPL). Then go ahead and everything should work as described in this forum/wiki.
Interseting. Sounds like a winner. Next time he comes around I'll try this.
Any idea where I can get a AT&T older rom that has the 1.90 HardSLP on it? I am having the same issue with the Error 262 update error.
Thanks

You should probably go to your ATT store and tell them you'd like to get the official Hard SPL update.
I am really struggling with this. Do I have to the FLASH HardSPL or can I just go straight to the flashing my preferred ROM. I can not get get the FLASH HardSPL to work because of this Error 262. Please someone tell me where I am going wrong with this!!!! I am bout to pull my last hair out!

If u want to use not the official rom made for ur provider and phone, hardspl is the only way. Any custom rom needs hardspl. Otherwise ur phone will not accept the rom.
But look here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=410150
and flash the stock 1.90 SPL first, then u are ready for hardspl.
Description how to do stock spl is in this thread. Its normally meant for going back to stock for repair, but it should also solve ur issue.
NOT SHURE BECAUSE IN THE CDMA SECTION, IS UR PHONE CDMA OR GSM. MY SOLUTIUON IS FOR GSM !!!!!!
U SHOULD CHANGE THE POSTING SECTION IF ITS GSM !!!!!
Try doing the HardSPL in a Windows XP machine (needs .NET Framework 2.0 and ActiveSync). Goodluck.
i had the same problem as you and i maybe have a solution for you
go to your usb settings and look if you have a check box saying something about advanced networking. if it is indeed checked uncheck it and your problem will be gone hopefully
i did it on my telus touch pro and i am now able to upgrade my phone to winmo 6.5
