ok, before the flaming begins, I'm a noob and should have never even messed with this thing. ok, there, I said it.
alright, a month or two back, I upgraded my 6800 to the nochem 5054 rom. phone worked awesome, no problem.
I'm selling the device and need to flash back to the stock verizon rom. the only place I saw a link to the stock rom, the ftp was down so I couldn't download it.
so I found this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=350539&page=1 and figured it sounded like a good substitute. I downloaded the exe and it installed. finished flashing and said that it was successful. only one little problem (and I've searched for an hour and haven't found the answer...)
it won't boot. it just sits at the HTC TITAN boot graphic. not the tricolor loader. I hard reset but still no fix. once I reset the phone it displays the cresent graphic with HTC TITAN at the bottom, then the little red parameters come up and this is what they say:
M09
H3B60B3FA
P DCAAXAM-4350
R 3.35.04
D 2.17
so, the phone won't boot and I can't get it to connect with activesync to try and reload that rom.
damn. What now?
You have a non GPS rom with the 3.35.04 radio, which is incompatible.
awesome. now I know the problem, I just need a solution.
and do you have any idea where to find a STOCK vzw rom? I guess I need a radio too.
someone please <sniffle>
Go to www.ppcgeeks.com There is a Verizon stock rom on the FTP site....find by clicking QLinks tab at top of page. Go to Titan folder and inside you'll find 'Carrier ROMs'...there is a Verizon ROM inside. Uploaded in March of this year...I don't know what version...I'm on Alltel. Hope this helps.
will I be able to execute that without my pda having an activesync connection though?
yeah, I just finished downloading the stock rom (THANKS) but I can't get the pda to sync up. I guess because it won't boot, it won't connect to my PC either.
what bootloader do you have installed?

how do I find out? I originally got buildos from ppcgeeks and I chose the 5054 option. I used some unlocker first, then I used buildOS and flashed the device.
is the bootloader in any of those parameters I put above?
Hold power, camera, and soft reset using the stylus while holding them, should put the phone into the bootloader.
It should say at the top:
TITA100 MFG
SPL xxxxxxxxxx
CPLD-9
Tell me what it says where the xxxxxxxx is.
SPL-2.40.Olipro
THANK YOU SO MUCH
I have downloaded the titan relocker and also the correct stock rom from the titan wiki area, the 78MB on. I believe that has the radio too.
geez, I should have never messed with this thing, I don't even know what a radio is....
Ok this is what you need to do. Since you have the 3.35.04 radio and 2.40 bootloader you need to flash a 3.x.x GPS rom in order to be able to boot again. Unfortunately because you can't boot and establish a usb connection, the only way out of this mess is to flash with a microsd card that's less than 2gb. If you don't have one, get one. You'll also need a card reader as well so you can format it correctly.
1. Download this file It's a clean verizon 3.x.x rom and will allow you to boot again.
2. Format your microsd card using a card reader in windows as FAT32 using a cluster size less than 4 Kb.
3. Place the file you downloaded on the card.
4. Insert the card in your phone and enter the bootloader again.
5. The bootloader will say "Checking" then will prompt you to press the power button to begin the update. Press the power button.
6. When it's done, soft reset with the stylus and the phone SHOULD boot into windows mobile allowing you to get an activesync connection.
Now all you have to do is relock your phone using titan_relocker (follow instructions carefully and exact), then flash the stock rom and radio. Make SURE you relock though, and make sure you use the correct rom and radio this time.
ooops .... GC has you all lined up .....

well, rather than buy a card and reader, I thought I could shortcut by borrowing a card from someone, then I used my wife's 6800 to format it with pocket mechanic. I chose fat32 and 2K cluster size.
copied the file from my laptop to my wife's 6800 which had the card in it. popped it in my phone and went into the loader but it just says serial.
Is it necessary to have a card reader and format through windows? if it is, I will go buy one and do it that way. my buddies card is only 64MB but that's ok because the file is only 45MB.
let me know about the reader so I know if I need to run to the best buy real quick. wow, making progress.
Yeah you can't format the card using the phone. You also can't copy the file to it using the phone. Go buy a cheap one. You don't even need a card reader, you could use one of those sd to usb dongles and it would work fine. (If you choose to go this route, just make sure the card you buy comes with an sd to microsd adapter). Just can't do it using the phone.
ok, I got a 1gb card with the standard SD adapter.
I went to format it in my laptop and I used fat32 but it didn't give me a cluster option. it just said default allocation size and It was not able to be changed.
anyhow, formatted and copied the .nbh file over and turned on but it just says serial and does not look like it was reading from the card...

Go to the XDA-Wiki at the top of the page and click on it. You'll see all the HTC models...scroll down until you see the Titan model...click on it. Scroll about halfway down the page to the section titiled 'Tutorials'...you'll see a topic called 'Getting started with your Titan'...click on it. This will have a section on flashing via SD card. It explains how to format the card in DOS. For some reason many times when formatting thru windows stuff doesn't work...I have no idea why...but when you format thru DOS its almost failsafe. Good luck....make sure its in the root directory of your card and labeled TITAIMG.nbh

Flashing a phone with a micro SD card
1. Format a microSD card into FAT32 with an allocation unit/cluster size of 1024
(the default size for a 1 GB would not work, also if it takes only a few seconds to format
try formating with some other slot/device. A 1 GB took over a minute to format correctly)
To format your Card - Open a DOS box and type/copy and paste this: ( format ?: /FS:FAT32 /A:1024 )
Replace the ? with whatever your SD cards drive letter is... ie: f, h, I.... Mine is G....
2. Copy the ROM to flash (xxxxxxxx.nbh) to the root of the microSD
3. Rename the ROM xxxxxxx.nbh to TITAIMG.nbh
4. Insert your card.
5. Force into the boot loader with POWER-CAMERA-RESET
6. Follow the instructions and you'll quickly flash your Titan...
That was in the Titan Wiki - You can use a DOS box to format, do not use Windowz Explorer....
Is there a way to flash the Raphael without Windows, just by booting it into SPL and inserting a microSD with an image on it?
Why I'm asking? What, if a new ROM bricks the device in such way, that ActiveSync will no longer connect to it? RaphaelCustomRUU.exe will not work anymore.
If you have HardSPL you can flash from the SD card. I have flashed 6-7 custom roms on my TP and I haven't used the custom RUU for any of them.

I had this problem with ROMeOS v1.04, activesync just did not connect and no programs started, rebooting did not help. I already thought my phone to be brick!
Just press volume down and powerbutton to turn it on (should be off before of course) and you will end in the bootloader, flashing with RaphaelCustomRUU.exe works if the phone is on in bootloader mode and connected to computer. (thank god!)

Instructions would be nice if provided also....
I guess im the only one who cannot flash a ROMeOS rom from a SD-Card.
I've tried everything formatted the card to FAT32 renamed the .nbh to RAPHIMG.NBH tried caps and non caps. I even tried to format to regular FAT but still no go.
As you can see in my signature i have flashed Hard-SPL 1.90.OliNex
Mine are called RAPHIMG.nbh and they have to be in the root map of your SD, I do this with al the new ROM flashes, because I believe it's faster and you don't have the battery limit (which is there for good reason of course). So root map and there you won't see .nbh in the root map, just RAPHIMG. hope this helps

You need the nbh file extension. It just won't show if you have "Show File Extensions" turned off. If you use FileExplorer on PPC, you'll see RAPHIMG not RAPHIMG.nbh. (Check the file name in Windows or TotalCommander to be sure).
The file must be on the root of you SD Card and it should work, unless the OliNex HardSPL has some extra options / checks.

I already thought he meant the hide extensions thing but just to be sure
I've tried RAPHIMG.nbh but it doesn't work for my device.
I also own a Hermes and just flashed it the SD-Card way with HERMIMG.nbh and that device works perfectly, so it isn't a card problem.
Could it be an Hard-SPL thing then?

I've spoken with cmonex about this and there's no reason it shouldn't flash from the SD card. The code is in Olinex 1.90 to do it.
RAPHIMG.NBH on a FAT32 Formated Card and hey presto

I just tried it and it works. The file is named 'RAPHIMG.nbh' on the root of my storage card. Booted into bootloader mode and it instantly loads the nbh file.
Nice to know. So finally I do not have to boot Windows any more
I tried this for the first time just now, hadnt even thought to use the sd card, I usuallly go through all the hassle of using a vm just to flash.
File is named RAPHIMG.nbh on the root of the sd, restart holding vol- and thats it.

Could it depend on which ROM you flash? Because honestly i only tried to flash ROMeOS with SD-Card. I never tried to flash DCS or something else.
So many people with successful flashes with the SD so i'm almost sure i'm doing something wrong here.
I will try again a soon as a newer ROM comes out because i'm a bit tired flashing different ROMs
Thanks for all the support.
I was using ROMeOS v1.10. sd card is a sandisk 6gb. Its hard to see what could prevent it from working for you, hopefully something will turn up.
Ishould also note it is considerably faster flashing from sd than over usb.
Put your miniSD in a card reader and from Windows, right click it and select format. Choose fat32 and leave the volume label blank. If it automatically adds a name delete it before proceeding with the format. After it's formatted, place your RAPHIMG.nbh on the rott of the card. Enter bootloader by holding volume down and pressing reset and it will find the image file. From there follow the on screen instructions and it will be done in a few minutes.

It is indeed. It is:
1. Safer [Risk free if you ensure you have at least 50% of battery left.]
2. Faster [Way much faster.]
3. Windowsless [that's a blessing!]
Good luck.
Cheers.
I had problems too flashing hang.tuah's rom but only 1.05 it would flash but not boot up, i tried through 2 pcs and via flash card.
i couldn't flash by my actual card cause from what I read sdhc isn't necessarily supported in bootloader, so i borrowed a friends 2gb microsd and that worked with flashing.
Since there is a new version of ROMeOS i'm gonna try it again.
I'm going nuts over here
I renamed the ruu_signed.nbh to RAPHIMG.nbh and copied it to the root of a FAT32 formatted SanDisk 2GB Ultra II card (non-SDHC) and check it for errors.
When i insert the card and reset while pressing the volume down button to enter the bootloader, the device says "No Image File Found" and just stays in the bootloader
What am i doing wrong here??? It's no that a big deal because i can flash using the wrapper but it should also flash with the SD-Card.
I'm almost giving up here
If there are any more idea's bring em up
Hello,
FCWs 6.5 Home edition 8325,2gig
Long story involving a 5 year old.
Basically right now I can only fire up in sort of a limp mode; "low on memory" or no "permission". Probably due to scores of "FILE000x.chk" files on the device after using Pocket Mechanic Pro on microSD card.
1) It'll only reliably boots with a battery out/in technique.
2) Its "connected" to desk-top PC but as a "guest" and isn't "synced"
3) I can browse it through ActiveSync on the PC, but can't add, move or delete files due to "low memory" or "permissions" (same on the 8525)
4) A few programs won't run and are not recognized as "valid P-PC" apps, including the front end "home2"
5) Can't flash anything as SSPL ROM flasher gives "ERROR [224]: device not responding".
Started with a corrupt 2 gig microSD, couldn't write to it, ran Pocket Mechanic Pro. that Problem solved, this prob created.
Read all Wikis, searched error 224, reflashed about 15 times, know the ropes.
Any Ideas are greatly appreciated!
Regards, PK
Have you tried flashing the rom from the memory card, its the only thing that i can suggest i don't know much about broken hermes.
Hope this helps and that you find a fix
Thanks for the reply Scott,
That was my next line of attack but I'm not clear yet on exactly how to do it (I'll find out).
My big problem is I can't add (or remove or even move) any files on the device either from File explorer on the phone or through. ActiveSync on the pc (I can look at them though...). I also dont have a card reader writer.
I think a lot of problems would go away if I could delete all the 200+ *.CHK files generated by Pocket mechanic pro. I think that where all my memory went.
I just found a way using delete feature in "RAR" ...6 down 200 odd to go. Antone know how to select multiple files?
Regards, PK
Regards, PK
Now its in solitary
I managed to delete 219, *.chk files from the rom hoping to free up memory. I'ts still isolated, I cant add any files to it (like a ROM or utility) through activeSync. The warning is it "can't find the file or path." of the file. To flash a rom from I still get "error 224," don't recognize the device.
Tried to load the SD card with a rom through my camera, no luck, the camera says "cannot flash".
The OS still works in a limp mode, no phone, half the programs inaccessible and home2 no longer works.
Fun.
PK
Have you tried connecting the card to the computer and reformatting it from there you might then be able to flash another rom
Thanks,
I don't have a card reader. The only thing I do have is a printer that accepts multiple card types and a camera that takes this card. So far I can't right to either.
Ya, theres a thread that tells how to flash from a card. Right now though its just of limits.
Thanks, PK
Edit: just got card reader.
Have SD Card with rom can't boot off it and install.
Hello all interested,
1) So I bought a card reader and as per 2 wikis, reformated my SD card fat32 and a single partition of about 190megs.
2) I copied just the "RUU_signed.nbh" file from my stripped ATT rom RAR file. (The wikis were a little unclear as they were apparently using different roms)
3) I installed this ROM directly from my PC to SD card through the card reader. And put the little SD card into the phone. ( I can only read not write anything though activesync as wiki implies. Problem?)*
4) As per wikis , hard booted with pen while holding power and OK keys.
5) All I get is the 4 striped screen with a IPL and SPL verbiage. NOT the "loading from SD card" as described in the wikis.
Help... anybody, PK
* Does loading the ROM through Active syn? I know it changes format of some files

Did you rename the file RUU_singned.nbh to HERMIMG.NBH?
Thanks alot for the reply,
I think you are the man! I did change the name but changed it to HERMING.NBH not HERMIMG.NBH. It seems to be flashing (slowly) right now.
If this works I owe you a BIG cerveza!

Vijovame,
You are definitely the man.
I flashed the plain Jane stripped ATT ROM but EVERYTHING WORKS! It syncs, the phone works, camera, etc, etc...Now I'm off to flash something interesting.
Thanks for making me re-read the .nbh name. (I've been trying to fix this about half the time I've owned it...my first smarphone)
All the best!!
PK
its good to hear that youve sorted it, theres a few roms out there at the moment so you may have to look around a bit and flash quite a few of them, the safest way is the card method but it is up to you.
Have fun with your hermes
Scotty,
Ironically I had already blindly flashed just about everything out there without a hitch. I finally settled on one. That's when all 'ell broke loose. Now I've got the stripped ATT on my flash drive ready to install anytime if I have to.
Thanks, PK
Hope someone can help. I've been running the Energy ROMs for a while, and decided to give Android a whack. Installed MAGLDR and the Desire ROM but want to restore the original OEM ROM, but can't seem to get it done.
I've formatted FAT32, extracted the .nbh from the archive, copied it over and renamed it leoimg.nbh (should it be upper case, or, leo_img.nbh?), and press the reset & volume down button. I get the HSPL screen, the gray screen flashes for only a second and disappears, then the HSPL screen shows again.
I am using the 16Gig SD card. Is it possible that's the problem? I've read a lot of things in a lot of threads, but can't seem to figure it out.
What gives? Any ideas?

almost certainly.
most 16, many 8 and 4 gig cards wont work
What Sam said.
Use a < 8Gb card. Single partition. FAT32.
I don't think the file name is case sensative but could be wrong.
Thanks,

I did the same, but I just flashed back to the energy rom by running it from the desktop via windows mobile device center and not the sd card. So try running from the desktop with you desired rom.

Ok, got a 2G card and everything is working fine, now. Thanks for everyone's help!
My 2GB SD used to let me flash my HD2 by putting the LEOIMG file on it.
I didn't use this method much, but it was always a good feeling, knowing I could, at any point, revert back to stock settings (SPL and all that jazz included) in case something goes wrong.
However, after trying out WP7, despite having re-formatted the card, I can no longer use it to do this.
I've tried partitioning with EASUS Partition software, I've tried fdisk under Linux and GPARTED. The card consists of a single FAT16 partition and that one file.
However, if I put the card in and boot the phone up holding down the Volume Down key, it'll enter the bootloader, flash a grey screen for a fraction of a second (I suspect it's the screen that lets me flash from SD card, but then something goes wrong), and then reverts back to the bootloader.
Does anyone know what could be wrong? I'd like to stress that the SD card DID once work fine.
Needs to be fat32 not fat16

Ahh, K. But still the same. :|
did you remove the stangely formatted wp7 partition?
Also, when bootloader flickers grey for a second, that can be bootloader looking at the file and checking it for deviceID and carrier/regionID, and finding a mismatch.
you will get this behavour if, for example, you try flash an incorrect rom (cooked, radio, splashscreen, different language, whatever, something that would require hspl) whilst hspl isn't installed
Ahh, it never occured to me that the file I extracted might have become corrupted, and I kept copying it over and over and over again.
Re-downloading the firmware and extracting the image file worked.
THANKS!
