completely bricked my tytn - 8525, TyTN, MDA Vario II, JasJam Software Upgradin

so my story goes as this. just flashing my tytn (x01ht) with a custom built rom from the kitchen, ran ruu as normal and when iit begins at 0% it fails and suggests to me how to correct the mistake by pulling the battery out. so i do that and put it back in afterwards. now it wont even power up. lookup in the wiki to try and jump start it by pluging in the usb power cable, led goes red and put in the battery and led goes black not the yellow that means charging. so now i freak out. try this several times hoping that it will go yellow but nothing.
so i think i have a nice looking expensive brick that i could just pawn for parts or is there still hope left in it. i had flashed it about 10 times before this ever happened.
anyone there to put me out of my misery or can it be revived from the dead
much thanks for any response

Hi, I can just tell you what helped me in a similar situation: Take the battery out, put the charging plug in, (is the light on red than?), put the battery in again. Now press power button, commmanager button and soft reset at once - this is when my came back to tricolor screen. Before that I put a rom file that I renamed to herming.nbh on the empty SD card - I'm not sure if this is necessary, since it didn't start to install the rom from the SD. I hope this may help you.

thanks for the response.
thats what i have been trying to do. on a working one it will bring up ktl mode or the led goes yellow for charging but on my brick it doesnt do anything at all, not even the bootloader comes up.

Bricked 6828? Help?

I've read http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=ATOM_BRICK
and http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=DeadBoot
My problem is, I'm not sure if I've bricked my phone or not.
I tried to flash a rom from my SD card on recieved a "no file found on disk" error (or something close to that). I hit reset, and now nothing happens with I turn on or reset my device.
It seems the charge light went from red to green, so at some level its working.
If I leave the power cable plugged in, the light stays red (and eventually goes green, I assume when changed). If I take the battery out with the power still plugged in, the light flickers red/green/red/green then goes blank.
If I leave the power cable plugged in, and remove the battery and then wait a few mins, all the lights momentarily flash.
I'm just not sure how to get back to the bootloader? I've read to try putting the battery back in while holding down the 2 soft keys, but thats not working.
I remember on the 6828 that I had to press reset and on while holding the soft keys to reboot?
I'm really struggling here.
Is it the soft keys? Is it the action key and reset?
(I WAS using a cooked ATOM rom on my 6828)
Please? Any suggestions? I'm really not up to building a cable!
UPDATE: Ok.. I've recovered. Short version: take out SD card and battery. Hold down reset button AND the 2 soft keys WHILE putting the battery in (this take some co-ordination). Wait a few seconds (up to 20) and should come back.

Dead Atom with Weird Symptoms - Please Help

Hi Guys,
A while ago i managed to brick my atom. I was doing a ROM upgrade when it seemed to stall midway. I removed the cable and it was dead after that, nothing happened when i pushed the soft reset or power buttons or bootloader buttons.
I've read all of the posts on this board and tried all of the methods but nothing works. Here are the symptoms.
If i insert or remove the battery, the orange LED and sometimes the annswer and hangup buttons flash briefly.
If i plug in the charger the orange LED lights up
If i hold and release camera and soft reset while inserting battery, the orange led flashes but nothing happens.
Now here's the weird one, if i unplug the battery for a few minutes and then insert it while holding the camera button down, the screen flashes white on and off a few times and then nothing happens. This is the only time i see any response from the screen.
i've tried holding down various buttons while putting the battery in, the only one that did anything was the camera button as above.
I tried the JTAG method but that didnt work as the software just wouldnt work for me. Now i've gone and stupidly lifted one of the JTAG pads off the pcb as i had soldered directly to them so JTAG is ruled out.
Can you guys give any advice on what to try? i've read the WIKI and the JTAG guides and searched the forums but no luck so thought i'd ask for advice as a final option?
Thanks

Topaz challenge, please read

Hi all,
I need an advice from you guys please:
My Topaz is not turning on, it simply does not do anything.
Last time I wanted to change the language but my battery was not fully charged, so in the process it suddenly turned off and since that time I am not able to turn it on, does not display nothing on screen when I press the on button it just vibrates continuously and not stop, and that´s it...
The charging light was on the 1st time I tried, but not the second time.
It is SIM unlocked but not hardspl´ed
Any advice would be great!
Thanks in advance
UPDATE 13-Mar-10
Today, I connected Topaz to wall charger, amber led turned for about 10 sec, then turns of, then vibrates, then nothing again.
I tried to do hard reset, nothing happened, then after some minutes the device is short vibrating every 1 min aprox, no led on, still can´t do nothing more.
EDIT: After 15 min of short vibrating every 1 min, now it´s completely dead again........
Thanks for reading,
Can you put it in bootloader? Is a hardreset possible?
Try to turn the phone off, remove battery, and insert it again. Then hold vol down and press power. Do you get red/green/blue (or whatever) colors?
If you do. let it boot until it says USB (perhaps need to connect usb to PC for it to change from serial to usb) and after that just run the topaz ruu and it should flash.
If you dont get it to start to 3 color screen try and hold up+down and press power.
yes, Vol down and powerbutton. should boot to serial/usb flash screen.
Thanks guys for your reply
Soon as I get home I´ll try and report back
Cheers,
Flash a stock ROM

Hi
Just check that if you try to reflash the ROM whether you should use a stock ROM vs modified ROM as you wrote that you do not have HardSPL on your Topaz.
Once you have successfully reflashed using stock ROM do a hard reset and then install HardSPL 1.83.
Good luck
Aussie
Still need help!!
Ok guys,
Let me explain you what happened:
None of the instructions above worked...
Can´t put on bootloader, hard reset nothing happens
When connected to wall charger amber led is on, if I press power button led turns off and vibrates, then led turns on again but nothing else happens.
Pressed down vol and power = Nothing happens
Pressed up/down vol and power = nothing happens
EDIT: Connected to PC and automatuically installed a qualcomm driver not detected also by WMDC
Disconnected from PC then connected again to wall charger and now amber led not turns on....
Please help!!
Any other advice please!
I really don´t know what else to do
Thanks in advance for taking your time on this thread
Per your PM, I'll certainly help you if I can.
Do you happen to know what caused it to brick? This will help determine how to bring it back. Did you attempt to flash a custom ROM w/o HSPL?
I am not an expert on this but have seen some chefs claim they can bring back a bricked device.
There is a program called MTTY that can usually get your phone to connect to your PC and there are functions to run in that program that can get it to a flashable state so you can reflash your shipped ROM.
Also search the Wiki for restoring bricked device, regardless of the model, it should be the same process. I think I have seen this in the Tilt(Kaiser) forum and maybe in the Fuze (Raphael) forum.
I haven't used this program in a while so I forget the commands but you should be able to find them in a search.
In the meantime I'll do a little research too and see what I can find out.
The main thing we need to accomplish is getting you back into bootloader mode.
1. Here is a link for recovering a Hermes and it has info on mtty.
Thanks a lot Bruce,
I have the original ROM and my Topaz is the unbranded model.
I was just trying to change language but battery was too low, then it turned of and you know the rest of the story.
I have it SIM unlocked but not hardspl´ed and I was not doing any ROM upgrade or so...
I´ll try to use MTTY and find about your recommendations, later report back.
I appreciate a lot your reply!
Cheers,
EDIT: Tested MTTY but in some point says "power on the unit " but that is what I can´t do, nothing happens
Will continue testing and searching...
This is from the Wiki. It may help. Says to use PUTTY instead of MTTY... with instructions.
Another thread on recovering device.

Thanks Bruce,
I went through both links but nothing...
The main prob is that I can´t even make it turn on...
Now when wall charger is plugged I do not have the charging led on, so I am really lost...
I do not have another battery to test but I don´t think is that because Topaz is almost new!
But Now I think it´s not charging the battery...
Hope any other idea can save me
If it is almost new try to send it to warranty!if it has the original hspl no prob then!is better then trying to reapair youself, with the cost of loosing warranty!
Good luck with that!!!
Thanks, but I do not have that option
I have high hopes with all the great team of XDA!
first thing first, you have to have power in your phone.....borrow the battery from someone or recharge your battery in somebody else's phone.......then try to go in to bootloader mode (volume button down and power button)..........

Yep!
I ordered today another battery
Soon as I get it will report back.
Thanks,
Maybe this will help
It happened to me once. Nothing seemed to work. What did work, I left the phone charging for a day. First take ou the battery for at least a minute. Put it back on. Then connect the wall charger to the phone and let it charge. Hope this will help.
When it happened to me the LED wasn't working either, just connect the charger and let it charge.
Thanks,
I done that yesterday and left it all night but nothing...
I really hope is a battery problem, I´ll find out soon as I receive my new one
wrong place
Exactly samething happened to me.. the only difference was that I was using google maps and connected to my car charger. It somehow didn't charge and ran out of power and kept restarting whenever I tried to charge from a wall-socket.
This is what i did... worked for me.
Take out the battery from the back
Hold down the power button for at least 30 seconds to drain out the static charge.
Take out the sim
Plug in the USB to the phone (without the battery and without the sim)
With the phone connected, press the Red button at the back (soft reset)
Unplug the phone from the charger
Put the battery back in
Connect the USB to charge
Cross your fingers and say a lil prayer
Wait for 30 minutes
Turn it back on.
Lemme know how that goes 4 u
Thanks
I done all your procedure but after this point: [*]Connect the USB to charge
Led charging light did not turned on...
By now my only chance is to test with a new battery (which I will receive on thursday), but I do not have too many hopes as the device is almost new
I´ll report back on friday.
Thanks to all and I will be happy to receive any other suggestion

Viewpad 7 wont boot, power button flashing red

Hello!
I purchased this device some time ago and did not modify it in anyway (no rooting/flashing etc), just a stock device. After leaving it just laying around for about a month I tried to turn it on again and nothing happened. Connecting it to USB or wall charger just makes the power button red led blink intermediately.
Ive tried:
Reset button
Hard reset (vol up+vol down+power button)
Leaving it to charge overnight from the wall charger
Leaving it to charge overnight from USB
Singing to it
Specifics:
Stock firmware
Viewsonic VPAD7
Model#: VS13761
Any help would be appreciated (even as mundane as saying "its hardware is fried") etc, just want some clarify on what happened if their is no way to fix it.
Thank you in advance
Same problem
Even My Vpad 7 is having the same problem.
Can anyone shed light to the above problem?
Puia
Let's start with here -
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1015005 - post #6
Can you hold the "Volumn" Down button while pressing the Power button to get into FTM mode (diagnostic screen) - make a note of the basic information it displayed.
To exit/reset - you might need to use a small pin to press the Reset button at the lower bottom (left) of the device to get it to reboot.
If it does not reboot, power down or shut-off, does it stay on with only the RED LED flashing.
Probably the battery is dead or dying..
i am in a similar situation.. i can only see a Red flashing LED. the tab wont reboot, go into diagnostics or respond to any plethora of button press combinations..
For those of you reporting problems with your Vpad7 - apparently not responding & only flashing red LED, can you access/read/verify your device's FTM status? Does it show any sort of boot-up sequence at all (the 3 birds being the common one for official Viewsonic Vpad 7's?
Please re-check your mSD card - you have one inserted right? properly formatted and not corrupted, readable as a USB drive when taken out & connected to a PC? Try removing any Sim card or vice versa, insert one and try to boot it up? Has the battery being charged to 100% (using the stock 2.0A charger - typically take 4 to 8 hours)?
Since it's NOT rooted and has no custom recovery installed (right !) - even a successful effort to boot into Recovery Mode won't help at all, but, it will help if you can get into bootloader mode.
Still following ... if everything checked out up to now, it's very likely that your ROM was corrupted/damaged and you need to reflash the "correct" factory ROM (RUU or *.nb0 file) using the factory utility - as discussed in the referenced link .
If you think you know what you are doing and dare to try a DIY rescue by flashing it all over (got nothing to lose anyway, it's a brick - paperweight at this point) - see if you can access the viewsonic website and download the files directly ... if you cannot download/access the files, please post here or PM for possible alternatives from my private collection now in cloud storage (it's geared mostly for newer/ITE devices, however, but not all of it) Please be specfic with your model's firmware/build & other info as shown under FTM or see your factory carton's box for the technical info.
If it's under warranty, by all means, contact support & get RMA to return it for repair/exchange - in 2 to 3 weeks (4 ?) you will have it back in working order, good as new - no fuzz, no worries & the "brick" can fly in android again.
If none of these apply, another possibility for the advanced users daring to play in a "what do I get to lose at this point situation" - to try to connect it to PC and run ADB using terminal emulator, to try to bring it back to life or at least restart/reboot it. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1229804
Good luck & I will check back soon ...
Unfortunately, mine will respond to none of these. nothing shows up on the computer when i plug it in.. not a sound, nothing. i may try booting up my old linux partition and see what /var/log/messages has to say when i plug it in..
i have an inkling that the battery has completely died though.. its a smart battery so has a PCB attached to it. if this has gone then i doubt the tab will power up.. unfortunately, replacement batterys arent easy to source..
i will let you know how i get on with it later on tonight when the GF and Kid have gone to sleep so i have some peace to potter around the house..
cheers for all your help my friend!
Today I plugged it in to my computer.
There was a white flash on the screen then same thing happened again.
The red light will blink sometimes or it will stay on as if it is charging but nothing is showing up on the screen.
Does anyone know how to open up the viewpad 7 or a manual on how to change the battery?

removing the back is rather simple.. run a credit card or any thin plastic along the edge starting at any corner.
good luck finding a replacement battery though.. i have searched high and low and cant find then for sale to the public that isn't a bulk order anywhere.
if you do find somewhere, please let me know..
Mine is an olivepad but I think the viewpad 7 and olivepad are the same hardware wise. (I may be wrong).
Maybe we can exchange the battery with another with the same voltage rating. And maybe higher mAh rating for better battery life?
It's already bricked so I don't mind experimenting a bit.
Here are some pictures I snapped.

Viewpad 7 won't charge battery and power on
Hi
Seems like it might be enough to just parallel connect a phone battery, with 3,7v to the battery PCB for a short period, to be able to charge the battery again.
Mogens
I disconnected the battery for 30s and assembled it back again, but the red flashing continues and it can't be turned on or charged.
Battery is over discharged.
1 - Open it and disconnect battery connector on mother board and reconnect and try to charge. If the battery percentage appears on screen appears and moving means its charging. Charge for few hours then turn on.
2 - Disconnect battery connector and charge it for 5 mins by using any 5V 1A power source for any mobile. Then put back battery connector and charge using original charger. If no other 5v 1 A source available, you have to cut the wire of same original charger and use +ve and -ve.

I would do the battery remove again, leave it disconnected for at least 10 minutes. With no battery and no charger connected, press the power button for 10 seconds, then let it rest.
Make absolutely sure that you did not damage the connector for the battery to the motherboard. With no power cord, reconnect battery and try to boot. If a 10 minute battery pull doesn't work, it may indeed be bricked.
The phone can act very strange and then go completely normal forever also, some people have left it plugged in for hours with the red light and it magically began to work again. Best of luck.

I haven't used LGNPST but I understand that it does get stuck at 85%, from what I have read.
A lot of others on this forum have experience with flashing, try searching or asking someone. Glad your phone powers on again.
Same Problem
I know this thread is quite old but I didn't want to bother anyone by posting another thread about the exact same problem. Anyways, my phone is behaving in the exact same way as the OP's and I have tried the aforementioned fix to no avail. I know this is a bit of a toss up but does anybody have any other ideas?
