All day events triggered reminder at 4am! - MDA, XDA, 1010 General

Good day all.
My Wallaby lost its marbles (again) yesterday so I have performed the hard-reset, SD Backup restore routine once more. (Fortunately I'd taken a full backup the night before.)
The problem is that this morning, an all day event (a birthday) triggered the reminder alarm at 4am! My wife was not impressed...
I've had the problem of these all day reminders being earlier than wanted for a while. I seem to recall in the dim and distant past that they used to fire at 9am, which was perfect. Then that became 8am, and then 7am. I never found a way to correct that so just ignored it as a nuisance.
But 4am is a step to far. It's time for action! Any suggestions?
Regards,
Rob

Sudden freezing problems after battery drain

Ok so my battery died all the way to 0% before I could toss it back on the charger after a full days use. No big deal.
I plugged it in the charger, powered it back up and strangely my HD2 froze within 30 sec of booting into Sense. Strange.
So I rebooted and same problem. And the again and again about 10 times consistently.
30 sec is barely enough time to backup and settings or files to do a hard reset and restore an old back up file. So I unfortunately had to backup to an older backup from a month ago
Figure this would obviously solve the issue and worst case lose some recent texts and appointments. Well the freezing is somehow still there! I REALLY don't want to do a hard reset and start over from scratch.
Anyone know a possible fix? I searched before asking as usual but not much luck..
Hi
Ive suddenly started experiencing SENSE problems in the last two days also. I havent tweaked or installed anything for months. My battery didnt die though.
If i switch of SENSE it works fine, with Sense on it takes forever to do anything. Im planning to hard reboot it soon, but your experience seems doesnt fill me with confidence. are you on tmobile uk?
I've also experienced what OP has. Ran my battery completely empty. Let it charge for some time and switched it on later in the day. After some time (a few minutes, I think) the phone was extremely slow. Sense froze completely, but I could navigate the start menu etc, although very slowly.
A soft reset didn't change anything.
I disabled Sense (which was cumbersome, to say the least). Let the phone stay on with charger plugged in overnight. The next day it was good again.
Strange thing!!
Check for errors on your phone/sd card - sounds like you might have a corrupt file somewhere. I had one on my sd card and it gave me a massive battery drain. I deleted it and everything was back to normal.
Just link your phone to the pc, select the either drive through active sync, right mouse button and select "error checking" from "tools".

Hi
Ive had some luck on my freezing SENSE problem, not entirely sure if it may fix yours but this is how mine resolved. It was basically down to the issue where for some reason the phone switched its date back to 2009. i have a YAHOO email account configured, and given that the phone thought the date was 2009, it decided to download all emails since that date (headers at least). And I have a LOT! I just looked at the inbox, and it was huge. I only have the thing setup to check for new mails every 4 hours or so, so it doesnt resync so often. Anyway, i have forced it to check for new email now, and it has deleted all the hundreds (if not thousands) of old headers.
Now sense is working perfectly fine again. phew!
Perhaps the battery drain caused your system date to reset, and maybe you have emails setup to download from an external mail account? worth checking.
Had this issue again last night, although the battery was about 80% full.
Soft reset didn't change anything. I tried disabling Sense and soft reset. Didn't change anything either.
Did as last time; plugged in the charger and left the phone on over night (with Sense off). Today it was fine again. Enabled Sense and still smooth.
Date is correct, though, as opposed to ansaar99. Considering it was really slow even though Sense was disabled suggests this is a WM issue. Couldn't find any process that was hogging resources either; 90% CPU spent on Idle process; the rest used by task manager.
Haven't had the chance to check for corrupt files on the SD card (as suggested by Towserspvm2000).
Same thing happened last night again.
This time I tried both disabling Sense, and removing the SD card. Removing the SD card should solve the problem if it was because of a corrupt file. It didn't
I think I'm seeing a pattern though; this seems to happen roughly around midnight. Yesterday (or actually, today) I noticed it at 00:24. I didn't record the time on the other occurances, but it was around midnight.
So, could it be that WM by default does something 'scary' around midnight?

Screen randomly turns on at night and stays on for hours!

So I got my x10 like 3 weeks ago, and I usually leave it to charge overnight, but the last 2 nights It had sufficient charge left so I kept it besides my bed, the first time it happened I didn't get up on time and was late for work cause my alarm couldn't go off cause my battery was dead! I remember clearly when I went to bed at 12:30 it was at 55 or so percent, and when I woke at 9 it was dead. (My alarm was set at 7:30 so it was dead before that). This was quite surprising to me as otherwise it runs fine throughout the day. The next day i kept it at 80% charge at 1 am and when I woke up at 7:30 it was at 66.so it did drain a lot but not as much. I had installed juiceplotter and according to that, there was some network usage around 2:30 to 3:15 or so (i'm guessing the yellow line indicates data usage?) and one thing I noticed was from 4:30 to 7:30 the SCREEN WAS ON! (Acc to the blue line). So I'm wondering what could be the cause of this rude awakening . I looked into the partial wake status and it showed facebook as the highest since boot. Could it be that? I'm using the latest facebook app. Also is there any app that can monitor the systems activity? Say what started when, for how long, how much cpu, screen on etc so I could determine that if it happens again.
I read about others having this problem. I'm sure what the conclusion to that thread was but for me my screen only comes on when I have a scheduled back up with backup and restore. It comes on and stays on until the back up is complete, unless of course I turn it off manually. I think this is also the case for Titanium Backup but don't quote me on that.
Well it could not be the backup app doing it because I don't have any backups scheduled... I dont have titanium backup installed too...
I have the same problem. Not so much a problem though as I charge the phone @ night anyway. What causes it however, I don't know. I don't have scheduled backups running. Come to think of it.. I only had this problem when I had a live wallpaper set (I think). Since a few days I'm running froyo 2.2 rom/static wallpaper and didn't have this problem so far. So perhaps it's (live)wallpaper related (which I seriously doubt), or ROM related. I was running Nordic ROM 2.1 before.
I've also noticed this. No apps running and randomly the screen comes on. Sorry I can't be of any help but it's not just you...
Well I do have a feeling that it could be the facebook app doing it, can't be certain though. I'm judging by the partial wake usage stats, well It could also be 'Android system' but I don't know what would be waking the phone up from sleep like this and leaving the screen on for hours!
Like I asked earlier, is there any app that can monitor all activity on android?Like apps starting at what time and ending etc, so I could use his in conjunction with juiceplotter to narrow down the culprit?
wow guys, not sure what this is. but i did a google search and heres what turned up.
http://androidforums.com/incredible-support-troubleshooting/141868-screen-randomly-turns.html
http://forum.androidcentral.com/motorola-droid-x/49298-screen-randomly-turns.html ; this ones interesting to say the least
x10 specific:

And I think this program might help you:

Mentioning what Android (1.6, 2.1) version you have and what model of x10(i,a) might help as well.
Hope that helps. Can anyone with this problem confirm if its just stock or also rooted and flashed devices?
i got no idea when it comes screen randomly turns on. but the facebook app might be the cause (im still guessing). because data traffic consume alot of your battery, considering retreive and send data too much. i have my data traffic turned off in case i want to go bed, and take it easy just turn on when you need to use internet

Well went through those threads earlier, but they didn't seem very helpful.
I'm on android 2.1 btw on an x10i. Well I can safely say that it didn't happen last night so I'll check again tonight to see if it does, if not then its just a random occurrence

Strange time discrepancies

I've noticed here recently that when I turn on my phone, it displays standard time, then military time, which it is set to. Sometimes, it will show an outdated time before it updates itself. We're talking a matter of seconds, but I didn't know if anybody had an idea.
I see the same thing. It's annoying.
Especially the standard time to Military time.
I could partly understand the update in a time from when the phone went to sleep, or screen is shutoff to when it wakes up, but this is poor programming.
Anyone have an idea for a fix?
Once my phone was off 20 minutes when I woke up. It would update each minute just fine, except it was off exactly 20 minutes.
I had to reboot to fix it. I don't believe I was stock, but I don't remember which kernel I was running. I flashed it again shortly after that.
Hasn't happened since.
This is one of the many reasons I NEVER trust the alarm on a phone. I've had problems of them not going off even back when I had a razr.
If I'm travelling, I'll make sure to set the alarm on at least 2 phones (if I'm with others), just in case.

alarm clock not going off

Anyone experience their alarm clock not going off? i've had it occured a few times in the past and just had thought i slept thru it or turned it off unknowingly. very unlikely because i set many alarms, starting at 8:00, 8:05, 8:10, all the way to 8:30. yesterday i woke up by myself without the alarm at 8:29 and was wondering what happened to my alarm? so i stared at my phone for 2 to 3 minutes and sure enough, the 8:30 alarm did not ring. i didnt do anything about it hoping that it was just gonna work the next day like how it always did. but today, i didnt wake up until 9:30 and was late to work. thats 2 days in a row that my alarm clock did not go off. i never had this problem with any other phone.
i did some searches and found some stuff but it doesnt apply to me such as clock and atk.
i have ATK installed but clock is on the ignore list AND autokill is set to off so thats not the issue.
some people say the wifi is dropping so the clock is not being updated, well that cant be the case because i turned on my phone yesterday at 8:29, turn the screen back off and watched the phone and the alarm still did not go off.
currently running meanrom but i dont think the rom has anything to do with it since the alarm does work most of the time. i think this is a bigger issue.
I've had it happen once, and it really freaked me out. I've used my phone as the only alarm for years.
I've also had a weird issue about half a dozen times where the clock automatically changed my time and time zone. I'm pretty solidly in Atlanta so no good reason for this.
Completely stock setup. Just waiting to see if it happens again...
Yes I have experienced this. Goodies 1.73
Luckily, I haven't suffered from it.
I keep an old fashioned alarm clock with the bells and hammers on my night stand for a power outage or whatever. You never know !

Phone won't stop dinging

Hi, I have the Nokia 3.1 Plus here and last night I was leaving it and right after going to bed, I hear that Voice Recognition timeout ding, I check the phone but everything was closed and recent apps were cleared. I just left it, confused, and went to bed. After 1 minute I hear it again and it basically repeats every minute. Anyone with the same problem or a solution ? I can't keep my phone with sound switched off during the night because reasons.
Sound stopped by itself. I don't know what caused it to happen, but it stopped after a day. Note that at first I tried rebooting which did not help the condition.
