First of all I wanted to tell you, that I've read through most of the "upgrade to WM6" discussion threads on different "XDA Neo, Qtec S200, etc." boards and I really want to thank you for this gorgeous "how-to-update to WM6" (as well what to do for troubleshooting) guide as well as for the hours of work you spent creating and packing the WM6 version for the S200.
I'm just a standard user who wants to upgrade his XDA Neo to WM6 (following the update instructions). As I do not have the insight on the benefits/drawbacks of different WM6 versions, I would kindly ask you for help:
- What is contained in the different version of WM6, what are the benefits, drawbacks, etc.
- Which is the most stable one and are there features that do not work yet at all under WM6

I understand the reason for your question perfectly, but there is no general answer. There is no official release of WM6 for the Prophet (yet...?) All the ROMs you find here are made by fanatic, obsessed but genius people the like to fool around with there device. The put in, take out functionallity that answers there needs best, or trying to make fame by doing the impossible.
Non of these fearless daredevils is hired by a commercial Vendor that wants a stable big public release.
So if you want to flash, you have to search for a ROM that accidentally meets your wishes.

careful...upgrading your rom voids you of the warranty the unit comes with 8) but then again if it's the last xda2 unit on earth then probably no one'd notice...
but if you're really willing to take the risk then by all means...if your rom is now at 1.66 then you can most likely upgrade to the next one which is 1.72...the forum hosts a lot of topics which includes the rom to download and a step-by-step process as to how to upgrade. you can use the search function above...i'm no expert but i do believe the rom is dependent on which continent you're based in...uk, asia, us...etc
now if you really want to go farther as a lot of us have then you can go upgrade to wm2003 se...there's like 3 or 4 versions of the rom posted here on the site. i'm based in asia so i downloaded the asian rom...again the site features a lot of topics on the how-to's and what-not to's...the search feature really does wonders. not to mention those helpful chaps who're actually wizards having been able to send the roms for upgrading.
but in the end if your unit becomes a brick (like many people's in the forum) then...well again the site does feature a lot of helpful tips and such... 8)

If you get an official upgrade for your provider (=1 .exe file) you can simply run it from your PC.
If you don't find one, or they don't release one (like 2003SE), you could read this and the linked pages :

Ehem!!! let me just correct you... the 2.20 is official release by dopod and the 2.02 and 2.06 are the non official release by someone...
In short there are only 3 active WM2003SE available, 2 are unofficial and 1 is official...

dUh!! if you look unto the official dopod website. Dopod released the 2.20CHS SE for dopod 696 wich is equivalnt to o2 XDA II... Did you get me? The 2.02 and the 2.06 are the images wich was not realesed and it is only for the developer of the himalaya device wich was stolen (maybe) and posted somewhere else on the net thats why we got it but the 2.20 was not stolen or illegal release becouse dopod actually dopod released it..... Duh!

The fact is, that the 2.20CHS version is the official ROM that is released. All the other 3 versions will work on your device, but depending on your needs, it has varying degree of differences you may have to live with.
IMHO,
2.20WWE ( hack from 2.20CHS, half-translated from Chinese to English by mamaich. Contains the best combination of drivers/default software (e.g. WMP10 mobile, BT settings))
2.02 (better BT settings, same BT stack as 2.06. Poor cleartype. Same software. Faster reset. BT Handsfree implementation not complete. WMP 9 Mobile)
2.06 (Better cleartype. Same software. Slower reset. BT Handsfree configuration missing. WMP 9 Mobile)
All 3 versions have these common issues (I believe):
(a) BT profile will hide on Today items if not use.
(b) Speaker (reported by a few pple, not sure if its true or not).
(c) SDIO does not support Sandisk SD Wifi Combo card (w 256RAM)
(d) There are a number of software that will hang/hard reset/soft reset the device. These are the software that is not built to support WM2003SE.
I would seriously advise you to spend some time and search the forum with the key words WM2003SE, ROM, upgrade.
I understand that there are many discussions on these matters, but it will really benefit you in checking the latest updates.

Mamaich has hacked the 2.20CHS ROM to remove some of the Chinese translation mappings from the ROM. I believe the job is incomplete as some of the translations are within the DLL files and are difficult to be removed. The effort result in the 2.20WWE ROM.
Therefore, if you installed the 2.20WWE ROM, you get some of the software still with Chinese characters in the menu items.

Any point in upgrading? Ive got 1.6 wwe, and since all three aren't perfect, might as well wait for a post saying eureka ive got it. or am i wrong? I'm so confused with these posts, thus if it is useful upgrading, can any one briefly sum up what is on average the best rom then please? or shall I wait?

If you're not up to the challenge of literally "TOASTING" your XDA then I strongly discourage you to upgrade. But if you do understand the consequences then go ahead. If I were you I'd wait though since all of the versions have bugs you would have to find the BEST one yourself. Lucky for you if you flashed it the first time and its perfect.
Now if you're up for the challenge and HAVE A LOT OF EXTRA TIME be ready to upgrade/downgrade endlessly to find the BEST version.

Hmmm ... there's something wrong with your definition of OFFICIAL you might be using a different dictionary. Yes the 2.20.07WWE came from the official 2.20CHS.
Its UNOFFICIAL simply because it is NOT the OFFICIAL ENGLISH version released by O2. Do you get my point?

It's official CHINESE but it's not official ENGLISH or official GERMAN version. FYI, being a Filipino you should know by now our national language is not TAGALOG its called FILIPINO. TAGALOG is a dialect similar to BISAYA, PANGGALATOK, etc.

Because your device is a G4, it may not be possible to upgrade with Vista...
However, many ROMs have different features... Gullums Touch series, or Coffie ROMs have many features and a lot of programs integrated so may be somewhere to start but trying some ROMs out is the only way you'll find what you really like.
You have a G4 device and you must HardSPL before flashing a ROM.
i was facing the same problem myself only a few weeks ago but i read all the sticky posts and the wiki then took the plunge and i upgraded to maxniper's wm6 touch bow this runs stable on my G4 spv and it is full of useful apps and features now as you can see in my signature i have over clocked and upgraded my spv has been officially pimped by the xda community

As for rest, it's all relative. What's "good" for you isn't necessarily what's "good" for the next guy. What features you want may change depending upon what you learn is available. You might think TouchFlo is the bees knees, whereas I might think a customizable today screen is more energy efficient, and in the end, more useful. You might want to run the latest version of Windows Mobile, but I might be more interested in software stability, and not concerned with having the latest release (officially, there is no WM6 release for Wizard, if you don't already know this). It's a complete matter of taste and personal needs. See? All relative.
You also need to learn the pitfalls before you go bricking your phone, and then start sending those frantic "PLEASE HELP!" posts to the boards. Flashing your phone with a cooked ROM isn't like installing a plugin, or loading Google Maps. It's much more treacherous. Judging by the frequency with which "Please Help!" posts get published, I'd say that 4 out of 5 noobs don't bother reading the Wiki or the sticky threads on these boards before proceeding with a ROM flash. Do yourself a favor and don't be that guy. Do a LOT of reading before you start downloading anything.
Read the Wizard wiki THOROUGHLY
Read the Wizard Mobile 6 Sticky messages
Read the SoftSPL thread
Find a good backup tool that you like
Load Total Commander CE. Get used to using it. Most ROMs include it as a default, and it's priceless as a file manager and registry editor, combined
Learn about OMAPClock and Smartskey (commonly used to launch the former). If you're planning on flashing to WM6, you're going to want overclocking capabilities at your fingertips, and having extra functions on various keys isn't bad, either!

This was an awesome reply... im still a bit newbie here on the G4 side. Upgraded to Win mob 6.0 and 6.1 with no hassle on my g3... Kinda easy! just used wizard service tool, did cid-unlock and loaded the rom! even the radio upgrade is easy!
but i've read a lot of stuff also...
I have one wiza200 with me it hangs T-mobile.Have tried hard format on it no success.I have tried to upgrade it still hangs.How can I get a full flash file for this phone

there is not microsoft office [ word, excell ,power point] .

I have tried searching but find the site a bit of a maze, or i find threads with 50+ pages, which for some reason load slow for me, so getting nowhere fast. My search queries came up with nothing, even when i just put in: wm 6.5 for example and selected the Nike forum.
I have a UK Orange Branded Touch Dual, currently unlocked etc with 1.58.16.27 radio and running wm 6.1 professional using i think wwe rom.
I want to update to wm 6.5. I find the radio section a little confusing, which updated version is best for my specific phone? I know i have to update before i can install wm 6.5.
What is the best rom featuring wm.6.5 in english?
Any help would be greatly appreciated, if i can get this done without much fuss, i would happily make a donation to this site.
I think a good idea on this forum would be to make a sub forum which features wm6.5 roms etc, navigating would be so much easier and would be less duplicate threads.
