So I cracked my LCD screen, bought a replacement, opened up the phone w/ little incident (man they really do cram a lot in there!) and I powered it on.....
the screen is just white, if I fiddle with the connection at where the LCD connects into what I believe is the digitizer I can kind of see a keypad button layout.
What do these symptoms describe and does anyone have a link to the service manual?
Thanks in advance for your time.
I had to replace the LCD on a wizard so here my experience... Make sure the two data ribbons are inserted securely. Also, before you power on, plug your hermes into your computer (assuming your computer is on and logged in as an admin) via USB (this sounds weird but I had to do this for some reason....) and then turn on the wizard.
If you still have a problem, you may have damaged something more than the screen.
Good luck.
Ok I will give plugging it in a shot.
Before you plugged it in what did it do when you powered it on?
anyone else have any input on what the issue could be?
It could be wrong LCD. There are two types of LCD for hermes/wizard with same connector but they are different. One is with gold flex cable, the other is with black flex cable. First one is most popular on wizards, the other on hermes. Check what was the color of your previous lcd flex cable and the new one.
Instructions
Can anyone post the instructions on how to take the lcd apart ?
I have gotten this far

I've made sure I purchased the correct replacement for my screen. Followed a guide and got it all hooked up. The phone powers on but I get a white screen.
Anyone have any guesses as to what could be causing this?
Your help would be much appreciated as I would hate buying another phone.
Incorrect ribbon cable seat.
Take it apart and make sure that both the ribbon cable on the side, and the bottom with the tiny black screws are properly seated.
Yea i have tried all of that....but I just tried tinkering with it again and i was able to get a partial picture by changing the back pressure of where the LCD ribbon plugs into the other ribbon assembly the buttons are connected to.
So I am guessing there needs to be a super secure conenction at this point. Problem is...the black latch that holds the cable from the LCD to the other ribbon is broke so i cant make it pinch the cable.
Anyone know where I can find a replacement for this other than buying a broken hemes for parts?
You need the flex cable connection, and there is a site in canada that has them.

Yea I checked that out....I don't see it, do you?

hi
i have a htc touch plus or as they call it htc touch dual.digitizer issue it stoped responding so i bought new one fitted in and still the same problem .i think is a software problem i guess driver software for touch screen .if any one can help please
thanks
Touch Dual digitizer
Hi Saliml2
Not convinced it is a software issue. My digitizer on T-Mobile Touch Plus did the same thing. It stated behaving erratically and then stopped responding altogether. I replaced the digitizer (via eBay) and it work for a few days and then stopped again.
I have read around the internet and have tried several ROM updates etc (currently running a WM 6.5.5 found in other area of this forum) but this has not solved the problem.
It seem to be an alignment issue - i.e. screen alignment is outside the screen area, but there seems to be no way of getting it back. Could be a fault on the phone mainboard (?) but there doesn't seem to be any info around apart from sending it to HTC for repair (not viable as the phone value negates this)
My phone is still not working, I might try opening it up again and reseating the digitizer cable but have done this twice already.
Have you try change the flex cable?
I had one to, with the same problem, and after changing the flex everything was ok...
Good luck!
Hi Amokh Just to clarify, what is the flex cable? The digitizer has a cable already attached to it that plugs in to a zif connector on the mainboard - I assume that this controls the data flow for the digitizer.
Any help would be appreciated.

Goodluck
Flex cable, i was mean the cable between the mainboard and the lcd block, you can see it in the previous link, picture 20. Have you try it to change?
hello guys how did you manage to put the digitizer cable in place mine doesn t seem to get in place do i need something to hold the connector in place???
I swapped a good LCD screen and memory (internal and external) cards from a 98% functioning, water damaged, Streak to a perfectly functioning Streak with a broken LCD screen. I followed all the directions I found for replacing the LCD screen. I managed to do the LCD swap without damaging either Streak. However, I cannot unlock the screen and use the good Streak now. The touch screen does not respond to any touch and the capacitive buttons (back, menu, home) do not respond to touch. The capacitive buttons light up so I assume they are connected properly. My first assumption was that I had not properly reconnected one of the ribbon cables. I reopened the good Streak and checked to connection of all three ribbon cables and reconnected them to be sure. Reassembled the good Streak, but no change in behavior. I believe this is a mechanical problem, but I don't know what else to check. What do I do next?
Locking Ribbon Cable Connectors
I guess there aren't any hardware folks reading these Streak forums. How many times have you read a guy's tale of woe and he says he followed all the instructions, but when you nail him down to the details you soon find that he wasn't following the instructions? I thought I might have fallen into the same trap (not being able to read and follow instructions) so I re-read all the instructions I had used to tell me how replace an LCD screen. It looked to me like I followed all the instructions for dis-assembly and re-assembly. Then I noticed an almost under-the-breath comment in ALPERIN1's instructions (http://forum.pocketables.net/showthread.php?t=9382&highlight=replacement) that the connector for the digitizer ribbon cable had a part that flipped up. No one's instructions said to flip this connector "lock" up or to push it back down to lock the cable in place during re-assembly. Not only is there a locking connector on the digitizer ribbon cable connector, there is a locking connector on the side button ribbon cable connector. I pushed down the "locks" on the digitizer and side button connectors on my Streak and long story short, everything is now working! Thanks to ALPERIN1 for his instructions and MARVIN02 for the great pictures of the connectors!!
Hey boss,
Sorry I did not respond to you sooner, I was on the road. Glad you are all fixed up.
Again, I will try to clarify the locks in the PDF so they stand out more.

So I replaced the digitizer on my dna and afterwards I get no response from the phone. So I was thinking the screen was DOA, and I ordered another digitizer from a different seller on ebay and still got nothing. I plugged it into the pc to see if I could force it on, I did the hard reset, and stilll no response. All cables are perfectly fine and were cleaned with alcohol. Bought a new battery and still nothing. What could it be? Help please.
sounds to be a motherboard issue
Double check those ribbon cables that go from the main board to the front camera/headphone Jack. The ones held on with two screws . Unhooking them and reseat , be sure your hearing or feeling a click. They are very precise.. if you are absolutely sure they are seated correctly redo battery connection. .... if all checks out .... just place it on charge for a long time. Maybe your board is dead
Have a galaxy tab 10.1 and the screen started getting screwed up. It's mainly used by my son for YouTube kids so it does get some abuse. The screen would streak and some of the colors would reverse, i.e. the menu bar would become white instead of black. Not negative but just odd color changes and streaks of color through the screen.
At first I found it would fix after slightly twisting the device. Then it wouldn't resolve itself at all so based on the idea it was probably a loose connection and some research suggesting the ribbon cable as a common failure I opened it up. After wiggling the ribbon cable I noticed it resolved the issue. I removed and reset the cable and it was fixed.
Now again today the tablet got dropped and went white. I was able to resolve it by twisting for a little then as before it wouldn't resolve. I opened it up and reset for a moment before going white again.
I can't get it to resolve at all now, and it's not seeming to light up either but the ribbon cable would cause both.
The ribbon cable takes a u-turn and inserts into the one slot. It seemed like when I manipulated the bend the problem would come and go. I couldn't be sure if it was the cable or connection but am wondering if anyone has seen a similar problem or issues with the cables or connections that are the same?
Thinking I'd change the ribbon cable and hope it works before delving deeper.
TIA
Bryan
