Hi Guys,
really dumb question ... how do you disconnect from gprs once connected ?
I can not see an end button anywhere !!!
cheers
i have just worked out that if you disable phone, it turns off GPRS...
surely that is not the correct way to do it?
sorry to nag .....
does anyone know how to cut gprs once connected ??
maybe its so obvious, noone knows it !
maybe its so easy, no one can be bothered to write ?
let me know please !
install monitor
Install the spb gprs traffic monitor is the answer.
You can also simply tap the signal sign (at the top of today screen), it'll show your GPRS connection and then you can simply tap end buttom Cheers
not on ppc2003 .,... there is no end button on the signal sign :-(
Install the spb gprs traffic monitor is the answer.
-----------------------------
is this the solution for PPc2003 ?? surely there must be an inbuilt feature which allows you to disconnect GPRS without the need of installing other software ??
please advise
I have the same problem and i asked in deffirent places in this forum but no anwser till now.

nope I can not get it to connect to grps at all
i must be doing something wrong? anyone done it ok to 02 uk grps?
This appears to be a "new feature" of WM2003, always on GPRS . It does seem to timeout the connection after a little in-activity.
I'm in the same boat and cant for the life of me imagine why they have programmed this way. I can only imagine it's a bug and will be fixed.
Thought I was just stupid
We'll technically I am I was soft restting to stop it to start with
Looks like I'll have to put on Spb mon
You can also turn off the phone (tap the reception button and click "turn phone off"
and turn it back on !
also cuts GPRS
Right, Ali-Butt, it's also the way I do it ! : turn the phone" off",GPRS is also diseable, then come back to put the phone "on" ... if someone find a better way  ....post-it please
Well the best solution i discovered is to use Sbp GPRS monitor, since you wont benefit from the Auto Connection / Disconnection while checking your email since the device will connect but never d/c. So all connections and d/c and done manually by you instead of using the Off / On methode use the Disconnect button in the GPRS monitor for the time being until they find a solution for this bug and yet you wont have to turn to phone off and on, consume power or someone calling in this exact min to find that your phone is switched off.
If you dont have Sbp GPRS monitor i am whilling to share it with the ppl having this problem.
I've installed 2003 and it's all great. A few problems with the syncing but after 3.7 (strange, I had 3.7 anyway though since I've reinstalled it off the MS website it looks different to the 3.7 it used to be??) it did eventually work. Scary few mins though!!
I bought All-locations GPRS counter a few months back, but the one thing it doesn't really have is an end connection button. I also bought SPB's PocketPlus but it's saying that it's not compatible with PPC 2000????? Does anyone else have this problem? I've tried logging onto their website but it seems to be down all the time. This program used to automatically cut the gprs connection if say I'd loaded MSN and then shut it down. Very handy!! If anyone knows how to get past this or where they've put an update to work on 2003, please let me know.
In the meantime ARZLEB, if you could find it in your heart....
Cheers
V
'Always on' is a great idea, PPC2003 can disconnect automatically and re-connect when a phone call comes in so why is it an issue? The only reason I can think of is cost (if you have something polling the internet racking up MB's).
For delivering mobile applications and corporate push E-mail, this feature is essential.
These devices are not really targeted at the consumer market more at the business user so the carriers will love this feature to deliver extra services and generate GPRS data revenue.
Hi All
the best solution is the easy one , simply press on the hardware button ( the red button ) for about 2 seconds and it will disconnect the GPRS Connections !! easy ha !!
Cheers

Wifi Access Point With Athena

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=332736
I have managed to get the athena working as a wireless access point using the technique from the above thread - I have connected an N95 and a toshiba portege successfully and browsed the internet through my athenas connection over wifi with ONE slight drawback - after about 5 seconds the wifi disconnects and I cannot browse any more - up until then it literally whizzes the page up. This is very frustrating as im sure the athena COULD provide very fast wireless internet to my laptop etc (based on these initial few seconds!)
All I want to know is has ANYONE managed to get this working with their athena? users of other handsets report success but I have tried everything and it just doesn't work...if you've got this working and staying connected then please post your exact procedure here
It works great, Here is what I did
I have gotten this working and it works pretty good except for it disconnects after 10 minutes but that is an Internet Sharing "Feature". The exacts procedures that I followed are:
1. I copy the attached .dll to the Windows/ directory.
2. I open up Internet Sharing and connect to Bluetooth PAN
3. I then go to Wifi settings then the Network tab and change the IP information for IEEE 802.11b/g Compatible Wifi to 192.198.1.1 and the subnet to 255.255.255.0
4. I then go back to the Wireless tab and click "Add new"
5. I put in whatever network name. Check the box for "This is device-to-device..."
6. I turn off all data encryption and then press next, then finish.
7. The network should show connecting. I then connect my device. It probably takes about 20 seconds to establish the connection.
Let me know if you have any questions.

Do you have to repeat #1 each time?
Does this replace Bluetooth PAN?
Is there anyway to automate any part of this process?
THANKS!!
but HOW?
It seems so easy that I'm ashamed to ask ... well almost!
How did you managed to copy the dll in the \WINDOWS directory?
I have tried, and tried and gave up. Al I got every time is access denied.
Where is it the magic?
Thanks for a brilliant idea.
You do not have to redo step 1 every time and it does replace the Bluetooth PAN. Make a copy of the original .dll file from your windows/ folder first. That way you can just copy it back overif you need to use Bluetooth PAN. Right now they are working on editing the Internet Sharing application to create a whole new chose for Wifi access point. Also there is no program yet to automate this whole process. There are some people who are working on it. I will post to this thread when they release something.
I used activsync to do it. If you use normal file explorer it won't work. If activsync doesn't work download the trial of resco explorer. It will allow you to do it.
the procedure i implemented is a little simpler and simply involves clicking on a mortscript which is provided in the original link. It automatically overwrites the dll and initiates internet sharing. You do not need bt pan selected - it will work with usb also. (you will also need mortscript 4.0 on your ppc but this is easy to google. You will also need to create an ad hoc connection as per the thread above. You then run the mortscript and turn on wifi. (it MUST be done in this order to work). When i first posted this thread it would connect perfectly but subsequently the 'wifi connected' symbol would turn into a triangle and no further downloading would be possible from the connected computer (all this within a few seconds). Now today i did a hard reset of my athena, followed the procedure again and it works perfectly! I also turned off power save mode. I tested by connecting an n95 and the speed is great, connection was maintained for the full hour until i disconnected - even when the devices were left for ten minutes. I tested the mortscript on a tytn following the same procedure. This device is running windows black satin. Again the disconnect problem occurred despite initial success. This leads me to believe that either a program or setup procedure is causing this bug. It certainly needs further investigation

I just used WifiRouter ( use search it's posted in several threads ) works great only thing i found is that you sometimes have to like either open your browser to force a data conenction to happen or use gprs monitor to initiate the connection then wifirouter picks up on that and sets everything from there. I must admit the extra step is a pain as it worked without the need of it with my former vario II, but will not complain as works great. only other thing i always do is under the wireless settings i set for Best Perfomance as beest battery wil have it drop the connection after periods of no activity.

WiFi Problems on WM6

Hi,
I've been using WM5 on my Prophet for ages with no probs at all.
Decided to finally take the plunge and upgrade to WM6 & HardSPL'd my device.
I've tried a few different roms & all have installed successfully etc apart from one recurring problem - WiFi connections only connect 50% of the time.
The WiFi seems to turn on but doesnt automatically connect to the AP. If you turn WiFi on & off it connects OK. When the device doesnt automatically connect, the AP is showing as 'Available' in "Wireless Connections" and you can force a connection by clicking on the connection & clicking connect.
This is a bit of a pain as I quite like using Korands rom, but I may downgrade to WM5.
Any help?
Cheers
fast and acurate..

What kind of encryption do you use, WEP, WPA, WPA2...?
hey all,
since I use WM6 Roms on my prophet I experienced excactly the same problems! Thanks racingclub to face the prob! I tried so many different ROMs an all have the same issue.
I use a basic WEP128Bit hex encryption. My current ROM is ProphetTouchXB.
Any solution so far?
I have the same issues, also with WEP 128 bit encryption. The issue only seem to happen with WEP encryption and I tried most recent ROM's. All have the same issue. I have not found a solution anywhere
WEP cannot auto reconnect.
i have reported this long time ago.
no solution now

Wireless Help and AP4

Hey
I have an Ameo; running AP4 and radio version 1.50
I can turn on wireless and it says wireless is available however thats it, i cant connect to anything nor use MSN or anything like that.
So i played around with it. I seen within some setting (network cards i think) that i had 2 wireless showing saying 'available' so i clicked connect and it said 'connecting' and then goes back to avilable and after a few attempts, unavilable.
My wifi is not secured, anyone can connect. Any help appreciated
Now as for the AP4 question when i turn my ameo around, the screen layout switches how can i turn the automated switch off ?

Start, settings, connections, wifi, network adaptors tab.
Under 'My network card connects to' ensure it says 'The Internet' and not 'Work'.
I flashed the AP4 ROM on T-Mobile Ameo. There is no chance to start Wireless. There is only a WLAN-Ícon but no WIFI-Icon
but without this the AP4 Rom is very great...

Hi Baby1111,
This ist not the solution for most of the Wifi-Problems i think. In my case the Symbol wich looks like WIFI ist named "Network Card". If I change to Internet instead of work nothing changes. WIFI does not turn on.
I saw the name of device in Bootloader ist ATHE400
Here my bootloader Information in the red bar:
ATHE400
IPL-v1.00
ATHE400 MFG
SPL-v3.50.OliNex
maybe this can be a problem, before i think ist was ATHE100. Also the TOMTOM 6 requests a new activation so somthing seems to be changed with the IMEI or so.
by reading the forum there if found 3 Cases for solution:
1. this one Change from Work to Internet ->> No scuccess in my situation
2. disable the automatic screen orientation ->> no complete Instruction how to do this or i can not understand it.
3. Sent the MAC-Adress of the device to Senior users like OLIPRO and get a file to change. ->> I dont know if they are glad to get much support requests.
I hope there will be a fix wich i can do by myself without disturbing the gurus at there great work.

@ Bit117 and Baby111
I can assist you if your WiFi did not properly configure during the flashing of AP4 instead of Olipro and cmonex (Olinex) who we'd like to have working on higher issues.
Send me a PM with your original MAC address and an e-mail address where I can send you a custom file configured to your device. I will also send detailed step-by-step instructions to fix your device. You will need to use MTTY so if you don't have that, find it in the wiki.
Regards,
Raskell
p.s. - If you do not know your original MAC address, check inside your battery door. On some models it is listed there (not the same as IMEI). Others have reported that flashing back to the modified AP3 gives a working Wifi. If this is so for you, get your MAC address from there and reflash to AP4, sending me the MAC info and we'll get you working!

Yes, this is obviously not a fix for those whose wifi will not turn on.
But I've come across a few people who think their wifi is not working because this setting is wrong, and when I installed AP4 it set it to 'Work' by default.

[Q] HD2 WiFi Router doesn't work anymore

Hello xda ppl,
I'm going crazy with an issue on my HTC HD2. The WiFi Router doesn't work anymore.
Ok, first of all, if I hard reset the phone, the WiFi Router works again, so the problem is on actual settings. I don't use this features very often, so, really, I don't know which is the issue root cause. Probably some applications installed in the last months... However uninstall all applications doesn't help me...
I perform some test hard resetting and then restore only some sections (using SPB Backup). If I restore Windows Directory OR the Windows Registry WiFi Router doesn't work!
Since I don't wanna reset my device since I have to install a lot of applications, configure it, configure the device.... Very long time to do that....
Does someone advise me if there's a way to restore the original HTC WiFi router functionality without reset my device?
Or, maybe how can I reset the actual configuration modifying something on the registry/Windows directory?
Thanks!
In case You have programmed SPB backup for automatic backup try to restore the oldest backup You have and start from there.
Whenever I install a new app I do a backup and then check all essential functions including WiFi-router, if probs occur I do an immediate restore
Happened last week when I installed the 3G-enabler/disabler from XDA: BT and WiFi router didin´t work any more, so I did just a restore and everything was fine again
Thanks for reply troed, backup the device first to try a new application is also my goal...
Btw, my oldest backup is from 10 May 2010 and the WiFi router issue is still there... As already said I use the Router functionality only during Holidays (like now ) or just in rare cases. So the problem is very old... But I cannot figure which is the application that cause the issue!!!!
Now I'm surfng the internet using USB sharing features, but is very slow compared to WiFi connection!!!
So, I'm scratching my head to restore the router functionality.... Maybe there's a way to delete all the file/registry entries and then let the device restore it like during the first initialization...
However, just now I tried the Tom Condon Wifi Internet Sharing package... No way!
Hey, I had this problem with the wireless router a few days ago too... You might want to take a look here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=756830&highlight=wireless+router+problem
Regards
BTW: I remember now I had a prob with WiFi-router once I updated Intel-radio-drivers on my VAIO - notenbook, Router didn´t work at once. I took the old drivers and suddenly it was oaky again, but it was on the side of the NOTEBOOK ! (has sumthin to do with the protocols TCP/IP etc.)
Did You check this also`?

As already told, if I hard reset the device I can use the WiFi router without problem on the same notebook. So, I believe the problem is on HD2...
BTW. I tried WM WiFi Router application. I remember now I had an old license working fine also with ver 2.0.
Now the WiFi router works again. For sure, not the original one, but this is much better. I'll only take care about battery drain. In the previous version the application drained the battery in a while.
I would like to know WHY the original router doesn't work, but since I have "limited" access to the network, for now I'll use the "WM WiFi Router" temporary solution.
Any other feedback are welcome!
Hmmm... I think there are a few settings to adjust for the router to work...
If the post I posted doesn't work, then you might have to check if your settings under
Settings ---> All Settings ---> Connections ---> Connections ---> Advanced ---> Select Networks
For me, both are under the Internet settings... Example "Vodafone Internet"...
Even for "Programs that automatically connect to a private network should connect using:" I have set under the internet settings instead of My work network...
When you turn on the wireless router, you are also given an option to choose which kind of network/connection you would like to use... Choose that one that gives you your internet connection... Example "Vodafone Internet"...
And if all else fails, you may try my method posted in the past few posts... If that STILL can't help you, I'm sorry but I've tried my best! =) Hope you can settle it soon!
Also, make sure that your Broadcom Network adapters connect to "The Internet" and not work
No way also playing with Network Settings. I had tried a lot of combination without success... Seems an "unknown" application/s have change something on Windows directory AND on Windows Registry that prevent WiFi Router to work. I have so many custom settings, with application like Co0kie's Home Tab, CSMI, BsB Tweaks, Pocket Informant, Klaxon, Chainfire-HD2-3D-Driver, incall lock, NET CF 3.7.... and so on... So, probably one of these apps have changed something in a wrong way.
And again, since hard resetting the device solve the issue, with very big patience, after a reset, I'll start again to customize my device trying the router each time I install a new application or apply a new settings!
Just last question: Does someone know which is the registry settings for so called "Fast Call" (the second standard tab) where I put the contact photos?? Or in general does someone know which is the registry settings for manila settings (like the tabs settings)?
Regarding WMWiFiRouter mentioned in my previous post is a good application, but I can confirm it will drain the battery and probably also burn it, since its temperature has reach an high value. I can hardly hold the phone in my hand!
OH MY GOD!
After 3 days of resetting, restoring, change Windows Registry, remove some files from Windows directory and in general going crazy to find the issue route cause.... It's incredible, but I finally hit the target!
I changed some settings using "BsB Tweaks" (great app moreover)... I'm pretty sure I changed the settings related to WiFi, plus some others! I reset again the device and try again to be sure!!!!!!
I'll post the result asap if you're interested!
One of the problems with wifi-router is that it always uses channel 1. If any other router nearby uses channel one, you have no chance to connect to it, as it is very very low power. Check networks in your neighborhood if any of them uses channel 1, or go somewhere where there is no wifi (like park) and try it there.
Well, I'm not really sure, but disabling TCP Cache (on BsB Tweaks) solve the problem. I cannot be sure because now the "original" WiFi router works so I don't want touch anything else!
Maybe re-writing the BsB configuration help to solve the issue....
I'll investigate better when I come back from holidays!
do you have activated the wlan-n modus? if this registryhack is activ, wlan router dont work anymore.
i think this tweak can also edited in bsb-tweak tool or manual in windows registry. so deactivate the 802.11 n modus and your problem is solved.
Yes, I can confirm, this is one of the modification I applied on BsB, togheter with:
- TCP/IP High Cache = Off
- WiFi N = Off
- WiFi StandBy = Off
After that, WiFi router works again!
Damn! That's because I need to extremely tune everything!!!
