Agreed. Ridiculous proposition!!
The closest you can get to Vista is Remote Desktop.

which could work pretty well with HSDPA and a DataFlat

O2 should develop an Official Rom for WM6 for ATOM
May be they should buy Jiggs's source code.. or donate Jiggs to do the project, If they have no knowledge...
We all should thanks to Jiggs our Hero....
Thanks Jiggs again

I hope you really know what you are talking about!
You buy a computer with Win XP on it. You ask for an upgrade to Vista and they say you need to buy a new computer. My Atom is just a year old and they want me to buy a new Phone. Do you think I will buy an O2 device?
In fact I have a 2 years old computer that can use Vista. I hope you get it!
I agree that they should invest in the JIGGS WM6 project if they want our next upgrade still have a change to be an O2.
Although the flame seems very interesting to me, I still will not buy it. Guess why!!!

Atom Atom Life Help

Guys, pardon my ignorance, I am a total newbie here as you can see. I am an iPhone user and can work around with iPhone pretty ok and I am new to Windows Mobile devices.
I am very enticed to upgrade my Windows Mobile Device to the later version which i Believer is Windows 6.5.
I downloaded the "cooked" roms as they say it. I dont know if its similar with the booloaders and stuff in iPhone but anyway.. I must say I am totally nood with the terms used in Windows Mobile Development community. Pardon me.
I just cant find the simplest tutorial on how to upgrade my device. I was hoping someone would be sooo KIND to lend me a hand. I am dying to see Windows Mobile 6.5 run on my device but I am not sure how to do it.
I am currently running Windows 6 Professional.
I hope someone can help me with this. you may send me an email at rap.espiritu(at)gmail(dot)com.
Please..
Thanks a lot guys

Hero on wm 6.5

i was just wondering if a hero can run wm 6.5 and would it be worth it.
Well... while in theory it's probably possible to write an emulator or even hack Windows Mobile to work with different hardware, it's highly unlikely that anyone has bothered to do so. So the short answer is, no, get a Hero if you want to use Android, or get another phone if it's Windows Mobile you want.

i dont think it would be worth it. the hero is an awesome phone, but it isnt anything special hardware wise. if you want winmo it would be a whole lot easier to just buy a winmo phone. i reckon more people are interested in doing the opposite. i would love to have android on my TP2.

Why no, the why wouldnt you want to part i understand.
Seeing the new HD 2 running on wm 6.5 WITH a captive touchscreen and
about all the hardware being the same on the winmo phones (diamond2)
makes me think it is possible, but still it would be easier to just buy a winmo phone...
Could this be a sticky. I have a feeling this going to a frequently asked annoying question. It has already been asked several times.... Want a Windows phone buy a windows phone.

Why buy a windows phone when the Hero suits your visual demands and is able to run wm 6.5
I can imagine people not buying the hero for it's looks, same with the diamond2
Imagine me loving the hero phone but don't want to leave winmo... would be great
if it can run on it.
Whilst I'm sure it is possible that some enterprising chef could cook up and post up a WM6.5 ROM for the Hero, it would be removed instantly because it would be warez.
The Hero didn't come with WinMo, and therefore doesn't come with a licence to run WinMo. I'm sure someone would argue that they've an old WinMo device and want to "transfer" their licence to the Hero, but the chef could still find themselves being pursued by MS.
The same is not true in reverse of course, because Android is open source, but we've already seen Cyanogen receive a C&D letter from Google for distributing their closed source binaries with his ROMs.
Regards,
Dave
Nah, you wouldn't want to put WinMo on the Hero.
BUT I have an old Orange SPV which runs an old WinMo, could I put Android on to that ?

[Q] applications wm7

Hi everyone just got my Mozart today
brilliant phone etc however bit of confusion
i have a lot of software that i used to use on my old wm6 devices that i am quite fond of just wondering is there a way of installing them or has windows mobile changed so much that i cannot install cab files like that anymore?
WM7 doesn't exist. Your Mozart is running WP7 - Windows Phone 7, and it is a totally different operating system. It has absolutely nothing in common with any of the Windows Mobile series.

Sorry, no, you can't install software from WM6 device to a WP7 device - simply not compatible. Also all software should be installed from the Marketplace and it will not be possible (without knife and spoon hacking/ developer kit) to install the equivalent of .cab files. Hopefully many developers will making new WP7 versions of your favourite software in due course.

[Q] Windows Phone 7 [Mango] ROM for Galaxy SII

Hello,
Some of you, or many, might have or might have not looked for a Windows Phone 7 Mango ROM for the Samsung Galaxy SII. I know I have.
However, to no avail, Google had failed me in my searches, and I couldn't find any, or maybe I've just failed. Also, I had a look around the forum, and again, there was no such luck. My guess ? Probably because there are none.
If that is the case, and developer working on such a ROM for the Galaxy SII ?Or, even, is there one already that is hiding from me, and from many others for that matter ?
never gonna happen, as its Closed source
Your post does beg a few questions...
Why not just go for a windows phone itself than such a ROM?
i am honestly refraining from saying something rude here...
If you are looking for a look and feel then here's some post on a theme

Please bear in mind that smartphones so far are more near to apple desktop/laptops than PC...
they can run OS from only one platform....
Not going to happen unless samsung put out a windows phone with similar hardware to the sgs2, and as wp7 has a very limited hardware spec which doesn't include the soc used in the sgs2 I don't see it happening anytime soon.

I usually express the same when people buy an Apple and would like to install Windows on it. Why not just get a laptop from the beginning ?
Anyhow, that's not the point. I've had my share of Windows phones [mobiles]. I first used a Windows Mobile 6.1 pro on my Samsung Omnia back in 2008. But, I didn't remain loyal to it. I am happy with my Android.
The point, is, or was, such as the HTC HD2, that is shipped with Windows Mobile 6.5, and can run Android, and also Windows Phone 7 [Mago too], thought maybe it could happen with the Galaxy SII.
It is not, however, going for a Windows Phone, but, it'd be nice trying it out without buying one. Not just the look and feel, sir.

That's because the HD2 has the same specs as the Desire HD (android) and HD7 (WP7)...

And microsoft were testing wp7 on hd2. In sure that's where the first rom came from. And that's why no other phones have had wp7 ports.
